They aren't really exciting at this stage... just kind of green. But it does set up everything that comes after so getting it right is important. I'm going to need to add some weight to the undersides of the bases as some of these are pretty top-heavy.
Next comes a dilute Thraka Green wash followed by lining to emphasize the deepest shadows and transitions. Neither if which will have a major effect on appearance but both are importing to adding definition to the figures. Once that's all done I'll start picking out the metal bits... that'll probably be the first time that they actually start to look like something.

As graven mentioned... the mantis chainswords are only for the vanguard... and will probably only be done for the modern (post-crusade) chapter. These are just regular assault marines, which have been a major hole in my FOC. They'll be a nice addition when I'm not running my biker scout / LS Storm list & I have FA slots to spare. They're also mobile... which will help in a variety of ways & gives somewhere for my JP chaplain & libby to go.
