Could be a revival of one of their ancient board games with large scale miniatures that they used to sell in blisters. A bit farfetched though.

For those of you thinking you are going to be popping into your store for a 'mystery box' - it's ANNOUNCED in August for SALE in September.

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

If they announcing it as a Mystery box then GW has officially gone bonkers. They would have finally stooped to the depths of shock value.

Its probably the resin indomitable fortress, either way though once the sucker is popped open or leaked that will either make you want it or not.

Personally I dont really give a crap because Canada wont see it since when anything like this comes by we get the yanks leftovers.

54mm and Ork?

Count me out. I don't want a game that isn't compatible with 40K (ie. not on the same scale).

And I have to say that I side with Yahtzee when it comes to hype like this - it's more likely to make me suspicious than excited.

Well, the Red Light district is several blocks away and the staff has a strict policy of only hiring non-smoking straight laces, so they've got be struck by the slow.

Funny you should mention that! Sought a little clarification from my local Manager today. Now, pinch of salt on hand for this as ever, though kudos to Ramon for being the first to confess this is only what he's been told, and may not be accurate at all!

It is up for pre-order as of the 17th of August, when all will be revealed. So until we can order it, it's a mystery. As soon as it hits the Website, we'll know what we are ordering.

Personally, I suspect we might be seeing a splash re-release of Warhammer Quest. No real reason for this like!

Depending on how you read those clues, it could be Space Hulk. Really hoping it's not something inquisitor scale, even if it is orks.

I'm thinking that Mad Doc has the right of it - the 3D terrain for space hulk will be limited to this first wave, then whatever after will be cardstock terrain.

If it's some crazy stand-along board game, then I'm down for that too.

People used to do that with Yugioh cards. "When someone wins this acution, I'll roll a 6 sided die. If it comes up 5 or 6, I'l send the super awesome mega thing everyone wants, if it's 3 or 4 I'll send the second most awesome thing everyone wants, and if it's 1 or 2, I'll send 10 super rare cards!" Of course anyone bidding found it to always be 10 of the crappiest super rares available. It's probably a GW version of Chainmail. Why? Because noone asked for it.

I doubt it is a new game or such since FFG seems to be doing those.

I'm guessing a 54mm ork trophy of somesort. Like those goofy vinyl marines from some years ago.

IIRC, FFG have the license for non-miniature based games. GW retained the rights to the ones where the Mini's are an integral part of the game?

Doesn't Talisman use minis? Would Space Hulk be a mini game or a board game? Hard to tell.

Talisman uses minis, but it's not integral to the game such as BB or SH. Black Industrie's version came with cardboard cutouts so they weren't too interested in pushing the hobby aspect.

Generally expansions see a drop-off from the original product. If SH sells 100,000, SH Expansion 1 would be doing great to sell 90,000, likely to only sell 50,000... There's people that buy it, play it once, and never look at it again, people that love it but just can't afford a copy, extra sets bought if the bits are useful for 40k, etc.

Justifying molds might be difficult. (Although I think if they can make the molds dual-purpose for Space Hulk and CoD/Planetstrike it'd be a win-win.
