No, it doesn't hitch that way. The gun is going to be firing, not limbered. There will be no wasted Chimera kits for prime movers I'm afraid.

Firing and recoil systems

The recoil system even has some of the original movement (see the video link I posted on the last page too see how it works) but will need eventually cemented into place, constantly raising and lowering it in gameplay would probably break the delicate gear system.

say do you own a fitting crew to maintain that canon? i mean there are old oop catachan gunners around.... that would be very cool to have these guys around...even the tank crew... the fellas just siiting on top of tanks, the hangers on would be a nice addition... and paying 50 bucks for that kit i guess is more than worth it... also the $ is so low atm... iirc that for me it would be quite a bargain^^

I went into the shop with the intention of finding more 1/4" tile textured plasticard, and stumbled on this and another Renwall 8" Self-Propellled Howitzer from the same line. These kits are re-pops of old 1960's kits, the molds and the Renwall company name apparently obtained now by Revell.

I think the fluff will include the Catachan's amazing ability to stealthily deploy these, making them unable to be spotted from aerial recon untill the moment a battery of them opens up and starts shaking the Planet's crust!

well i have the catachan codex...but i don´t want to spoil your mood doood^^ but anyway... this means 7 new shiny...for a given value of shine... catachans custom made to fit the maintanace crew... i say....yay^^

i have actually only ever built one kit of revell... but i have some paints from them and their plastic glue... which i can only recommend most dearly...as for their kits... huge range doesn´t cut the mustard... agonizingly huge^^

I love the old 3rd edition (?) Catachan codex, it has some epic fluff!
Also did you buy the howitzer? If not that would also be amazing and would look cool alongside the hellstrike.

The ramming chute doesnt fold away during firing as it would on the real thing, but oh well, I was going to model the crew in the loading positions anyways.

Looking quite epic! The scale shots really blew me away!

I'm dreaming of a sweet scenario where one side is trying to infiltrate behind enemy lines and stop the mega-cannon from firing. It has seven wounds (one for each crew member) and counts as cover for the crew. I think you should do it!
