Wow. I have 14 entries up to this point. Good to see so many interested members.

If you have already sent me a picture, please check your email. Some of you left out what the specific model is. I am not very familiar with Infinity, and want to make sure all entries are properly identified.

Thanks everyone.

i' ve sent mine but haven't shoot the photo with the dakkadakka background (in the first post there wasn't this thing :\ )... By the way i have 20-25 wip progress (during the painting process, adding something every time) that i can send.
I hope there will be no problem, really did hard work on it :\

i hope i will receive lots of advice in order to improve painting style.

This is a really good thing because the game needs to be more known

Everything I have received so far is good. No worries from anyone. I am currently caught up, so if you sent anything up to this point it is already qualified and processed.

16 Entries total so far.

It's GMT -5 hours, so if you're at GMT, then the deadline would be 4:59 am on the 14th.

Painting down to the last second, are we?

Hehe, fortunately I'm done, but Aura has decided to join the game, but she only started yesterday. Just wanted that confirmation.. She'll be finished sometime tomorrow, but wanted to know where the line exactly was.

As much as it is good that plenty of people taking part and Infinity is spreading, I feel my dreams of being in with a chance of winning something are slipping further from my grasp with every entry

With 20 entries (and the skill of some of the contestants), I'm wondering whether it's actually worth trying to get in my own. I had some real life problems last week that took away painting time, so now I'd have to paint at less than my best to be done on time (hence detrimentally affecting my chances of winning and the model's overall quality).

Might have to withdraw simply due to it being plain daft to muck up the model for the sake of a very slim chance of winning.

My painting skillz are not exactly top notch, so there will only be 19 other entries to compete against - and you have to remember the saying: "Enter it, and they will come"... or something

Better to have tried and not won than never tried at all.

You will learn more by entering than not in my opinion - especially if you have any interest in future painting competitions!

The thing to understand is how often I've rushed models to meet deadlines, got mediocre results and ended up having to totally redo them afterwards. I've mostly learnt from that now, and it's improved my work dramatically.

The poor chance I'd have at winning any of the prizes if I rushed to meet the deadline hardly seems worth it, particularly as I'd have to redo it again afterwards and have other things that could use the time.

Just paint it up and if you get it done in time, enter! Either way, you will have to paint it up eventually, so you may as well start now and maybe have a chance of winning some Infinity stuff if you get it done in time

I've already started - but I can safely say that with less than a day and a half to get the rest done, my normal technique will not present a finished result in time, and my rushed technique will produce a mediocre result that I'd have to redo. As the mediocre result won't be enough to win any prizes (and if it were, then I'd have to decline in disgust at how badly some of the other entrants had shamed themselves), what's the point in rushing, ruining it and having to start over?

I've spent too much time converting so i'm not going to be able to finish but i can get all my colours down without adding any freehand or anything special. My painting isn't good anyway but maybe thats the best way to go about things if you haven't got enough time?

Just do enough to have a 'finished' model even if you aren't actually finished.

@MarcoSkoll: Well, no one can force you to enter - and less entries means less competition for the rest of us. Your reasons all seem perfectly valid, especially if you don't plan on entering a competition in the future.

@Everyone considering whether to eneter or not at this stage:
I think entering will not only allow you to compare your effort, no matter how unhappy you are with it, with the other entries - (which I guess you can do without entering) - but also see others opinion about how it places as well.

If nothing else - this gives you a placement goal to beat next time! I'm not expecting to place better this time around (I'd have to win!), but I'll be happy with placing higher than heartserenade (Nothing like a bit of friendly competition...). Regardless, I hope to have a goal to beat for next time (more likely given the number of entries...)

It may help with motivation to do better next time too...

I think you can't under-estimate the value in photographing and presenting your model either. I don't think my painting has improved since the last time - but hopefully my photography and presentation has!

Anyway - to those that have entered and eventually do - I wish you all good luck and I am looking forward to seeing all of your entries!

My main motivation (aside from winning the contest ) is beating my brother, who thinks he's a better painter than me. Ha! The delusive fool

Na, I actually think our entries are both equally good (or bad). We've agreed to (in case one of us wins anything) share the money and start two forces. Would be kinda stupid not to share it, as there would be no opponent to play against.....

Good luck to everyone!

Here's a tip straight from the Eavy Metal team. When you're rushed for time, only paint the parts that face the camera. You can go back and do the other bits later

...you think I'm joking... but there really are some models that do only ever see a full paint job on the front! I can't remember what unit it was they demonstrated that on; Arakasi might remember

I considered this sneaky trick during the duel-competition a few moths back, but I hope the pics of that entry prove I pained all sides after all

SilverMk2, you make me laugh with each one of your posts

Well, mine is almost finished after a frenzied evening of painting! How good will it be after just a few hours work? Well I think the old adage of 'you reap what you sow' applies here

Once again: Is there no chance at all of a 'wooden spoon' award? Even if it's just a copy of 'how to paint miniatures' or one of the plastic space marines from the 2nd edition boxset?
