alright, example: a 5 strong GK purifer squad in apoc uses one shooting psychic attack and kills 300 ork boys. you call that not over powered?
What, did they go up against a 600 strong green tide in apoc?

QFT. I used to be awful with Draigowing. Now I crush them like ants.
Anyways, I predict that Deathwing would hopefully get something along the lines of a Dreadnought, or a new Termie type. I might even want a variant of Dreadknight. With a new model, of course.
Y'know, I think the best prediction is actually in your first part.
Something like "Draigowing" is entirely feasible.
A generic Deathwing list "unlocked" by having a Deathwing Captain allowing for standard Terminators as Troops.
A specialist Deathierwing list "unlocked" by having Belial unlocked, allowing for Inner Circle Terminators as Troops.
Adding "Inner Circle" Terminators as a choice like the Grey Knight Paladins would give GW an excuse for a specific Dark Angels Deathwing Terminator kit, with robed Terminators and the like.

I can't call it overpowered because it does not exist. There's some special shooting attack they can use that uses a large flame template and it requires multiple squads in the formation to pull it off anyway. Even so, the Apocalypse flame template can't fit 300 boyz under it unless they were standing on top of each others' shoulders. As a final point, it's Apocalypse, which isn't built to be balanced in any way whatsoever.

The notion of "Inner Circle" terminators is fine and all except there should be more thought to how its done. Even if they're only an "elite" choice for Deathwing, you're talking a significant portion of the Deathwing. It seems like that same sort of effect could simply be accomplished by allowing chaplains to replace sgts... and not necessarily a whole unit.
The notion of an "inner circle" terminator squad would sound more like a way to do an alternative command squad/honorguard squad sort of thing.

This I like.
A set of elite Terminators actually sounds quite cool. Then again, I thought all Deathwing were members of the inner circle?
We could have the type vary depending on company master. Sammael could get a group of Jetbikers ( lol), Deathwing get a group of supa-dupa-uber-mega-awesome Terminators and Azrael gets a squad of OP Vets.

I feel like if DA were to get some wacky multiwound super-elite unit it would be jetbike Ravenwing. Yeah, there's only one jetbike in existence right now, but fluff can change a whole lot.

No doubt about that, but I do think it would be a way to differentiate Belial's forces taking to the field to one of his subordinates taking to the field.
Simply saying "They're terminators +1!" would be a major copout.
Even if they're only an "elite" choice for Deathwing, you're talking a significant portion of the Deathwing. It seems like that same sort of effect could simply be accomplished by allowing chaplains to replace sgts... and not necessarily a whole unit.
There's plenty of things which can be done to make Inner Circle a smidge "unique", not the least of which is allowing for an upgrade to the Sergeant allowing him to extend Litanies of Hate to his squad.
Another option is for a unique weapon type for the Inner Circle Terminators. We have those "Swords of Secrets" that are relics of the Chapter, forged from obsidian taken from remnants of Caliban. Why not amp up the fact that Dark Angels have a history as a knightly order, by actually going and allowing the Inner Circle the option of the archetypical sword/shield knight?
Something like:
Fang of Caliban
Counts as a "relic blade" and is taken with a Storm Shield.
The notion of an "inner circle" terminator squad would sound more like a way to do an alternative command squad/honorguard squad sort of thing.
I don't know about that. Considering right now, we can already do a Command Squad/Honor Guard for Belial--it presents nothing "new". It presents nothing to differentiate the Deathwing from just being "Grey Knights Lite".
There's a lot of ways to expound upon the Inner Circle angle, but that's just me doing some brief brainstorming. Automatically Appended Next Post: BlapBlapBlap wrote:

The Inner Circle is a Very Big Deal. Not all members of the Deathwing are part of it, but all members of the Inner Circle are part of the Deathwing.

Surely a suped up command squad with say Apoth Term/Lib Term/Chap Term all inclusive would make up the inner circle? With a standard bearer probably and a champion thrown in for good measure?
It wouldn't necessarily represent a new unit type but would probably be more efficient for fluff!

What I was trying to get at was what someone else said... "aren't all Deathwing in the inner circle?" They aren't but In that way you can draw these progressively smaller circle, representing those who know more and more. What I was getting at is that in that way there are only three ways you can represent that within the army... a better honorguard for Belial, a number of better Sgt (such as with Chaplains), or as an Elite unit. The problem with the latter is it insists on turning the codex into a locked codex with unlockables, or an instance like Vanguard and Assault marines where both exist in parallel but where clear cost/benefit of one stops anyone from taking the other. I don't see the codex heading in that direction.

Alright. I apologize for failing to post any news or rumors in the news & rumor thread. Clearly I severely underestimated the diligance and discipline of dakka in keeping away from this thread and not clutter it with posts that contain no news or rumors whatsoever.
Could someone point me to the exact source where those news about Inner Circle in the new Dex came from. I must have mistakenly gotten the wrong impression it was just wishlist-spam in this thread.

I think you're severely misunderstanding what I'm saying.
Imagine a Deathwing force would be like this:
HQ--Captain in Terminator Armor
Elites--Deathwing Inner Circle or Dreadnoughts.
Troops--Deathwing Terminators.
Fast Attack--Some kind of Gunship or Ravenwing support.
Heavy Support--Land Raiders/Predators/Whatever.
Now, if you were to have Belial leading the force it would look like this:
HQ--Belial
Elites--Dreadnoughts
Troops--Deathwing Terminators, Inner Circle Terminators.
Fast Attack+Heavy Support stay the same.
Now of course, by having Belial in charge you still retain the option of normal Terminators, but it lets you do a characterful change to the list by allowing you to field members of his "personal" command.

Neither is having a bit of fun really spam in and of itself. But I do see that this isnt a humour (or wishlisting or speculation) thread, but a news & rumor thread, so my post might have offended people. Hence my apology.

So, a large Necron release this month and a big old SM release. no DA in that though. It may mean nothing as there is also BA that need (for want of a better word) some finecast updates, but if they had done DA in the finecast release it would be more evidence to there not being a new codex on its way.
More of a "Not a No" that a "yes" to a new codex soon.

That might well be significant, though the models are so far out of date, and so badly out of scale with the present plastics, that they should really have been retired years ago.

I have been asking for Plasmacannon Sponsons FOREVER!!!! I will be sad if DA gets them as I love my Blood Angels. . . .
Slinky wrote:dadde wrote:holy Emperor...units of what?

Don't have codex here at work, but I thought BA chaplains already worked this way? Though maybe the difference is that they would be able to be actually deployed as a unit?
Yes and no, the BA Chaps take a single Elite slot each, they are talking more along the lines of the Sanguinary Priests but for Chaplains, so 1-3 Chaps a Elite slot.
I would have a ball with that, if I went DA I would most deff miss my Priests so it better be a BAD ASS codex if I am going to even consider it. . . Plasmacannon Sponsons would be a deal sealer though. . .
Seeing as most people dont like plasma, I love it. S7 AP2 Blast forces people to bunch up and die quickly or to spread out and be easier to assault.
