No worries. I think you missed the fine print on the game that says:

"Purchaser of this game shall find themselves with more friends than they could ever hope to shake off of them and more persons of sexual interest than they could ever satisfy. Signed: Mike McVey"

So you got 'em waiting for you at the end of the KS tunnel.

woohooo i'll have to remember to wash all the paint off my hands from my furious strain painting if theres going to be a chance of boobies

Hellfury didn't clarify that the sexual interest will be coming entirely from other people that bought Sedition Wars. So, yes, there will be boobies...they may not be the boobies you are looking for however.

1,000 times this. There are tons of games (not the least of which is SW) that I'd be interested in using some nice plastic space terrain for, and, so far, it's all been too generic or too expensive...

I'd love seeing something like that. I believe this cardboard tiles are about 30cm x 30cm (12"x12"?). My idea is that it could be cool having 30cm x 30cm plastic tiles, one sided, with a slight relief. It might not need to be more than 1cm thick. It would have sculpted squares, holes in the sides for the doors, and some silghtly higher lines hinting the walls. Of course, they would need to be painted by the player.

And if different models were available separately, you could fill a 4'x4' or 6'x4' table for bigger games. Not only if the system grows to skirmish level wargame. Also, just ignoring the squares as they are a pattern of plates, they could be used for other games.

Ah, the wishlisting

Its a public forum for the sharing of opinions. As a backer I am sure as hell going to make my opinion known and could care less what anyone other than the producers of the game thinks of mine.

As for the terrain being available later: Proposed retail is $40. They are preordering at $30. Typically I can find gaming products online that retail for $40 discounted to $25ish. Way cheaper? Its only around $5, but I don't have to cough up the dough 9 months before the fact and several months after the game is released. Which to me is the big deal.

Gaming products at $40rrp down to $25? That seems almost unbelievable. Like, less than wholesale for a lot of stuff. Can you link a bunch of examples, I might buy some stuff myself.

Jeez. I like the terrain. I am going to buy it. The only point of critique I have about it is that it is shipping 4 months after the release of the game.

I don't mind expansions coming later. But the terrain components I personally view as compulsory to the game. Sitting down to paint the game, then sitting down four months later to paint it again in the form of dorrs and whatnot is a pretty big turnoff for me. I like to get stuff over with instead of dragging it out when and where possible.

Well, the terrain components aren't "part of the game" or "compulsory" since it's a boardgame. They're something they thought would be cool (resin) extras to add in later - kinda like the way people make Hirst Arts Space Hulk boards. (and probably inspired by that, quite frankly). They're also my "maybe" purchase, depending on what I can afford, since I'll probably be able to get them for 17-20% off down the line. Making them go from $40 to $36 and hey, $12 more for a 6-month delay is no biggie, especially with money being tight right now. So yeah, I'd again love to see the places we might be able to get them for $25.

Hulksmash wrote:I don't see it as nickel & diming personally. I see it as things that got added because they didn't think they'd hit this level. The additional models are neat addition but not required for the base game.

I do feel a bit like some posters feel entitled to free stuff just for what is basically pre-ordering. And not just free stuff, but tons and tons of free stuff. You're already getting nearly 1.5 boxes worth of mini's in 1. Isn't that enough?

Yeah, I'll agree with that. It's like some people choose the best/cheapest deal and then tack on an entitlement mentality that says "I should get everything they release from here on in for my $100." - and then get butthurt if they miss out on anything extra for free - even when the $100 is a brilliant deal.

Thunderfrog wrote:I think the sentiment that you are noticing but disagreeing with is that all these 10$ a pop stretch goals should be included in the Bioshock Level, not added on after the fact.

I don’t see why every stretch goal need to be included as ‘part of’ any particular pledge level. I don’t really have a problem with ‘optional extras’, and I have no issue with stretch goals getting tied to those optional extras.

For instance, I have no personal interest in the ‘After Dark’ packs with the clear heroes and glow-in-the-dark Strain models. When I saw a stretch goal centred around the glow-in-the-dark Strain I wasn’t angry, or annoyed or even slightly miffed by it. I shrugged my shoulders and just waited for the next one. My money was already pledged, so what did it matter to me? It’s not as if the presence of the ‘After Dark’ pack altered the initial Biohazard level I pledged for. If they'd turned around and said "The clear/glowy models are included in this pledge level, but because of that the pledge level is going up $20 so everyone has to up their pledges", then that'd be someting to get annoyed at. But they didn't do that. They kept 'em separate, and those who want to have them have the option. No one is forced into doing anything.

Given the responses in this thread though, it seems a lot of people do like the ‘After Dark’ pack, and have since purchased it. Good for them – more power to ‘em. So that extra glowy miniature stretch goal benefited them and their purchase and doesn’t directly benefit me or anyone else who has no interest in the ‘After Dark’ pack. So be it. Doesn’t seem like such a big deal to me. I see now issue with allowing them to be add-ons.

Thunderfrog wrote:Whether or not YOU think it should or shouldn't be added isn't going to stop other posters from complaining like they feel forced to keep throwing money at the kickstarter. Nope. I’m calling bull gak on this one. ‘Forced’ to keep ‘throwing money’? Why? They don’t have to buy them. No one is forcing them to do anything. There’s no gun to their heads demanding that they pledge more so I don’t know how anyone can ‘feel’ as if they are being forced. They are optional. And if they want a complete set of ‘unique’ models then that’s their own issue.

Thunderfrog wrote:Now, you have to almost double that pledge to stay on top of all the extras.

Except you don’t. There’s nothing to stay ‘on top of’. Everything you’re saying here utterly reeks of entitlement.

Thunderfrog wrote:If they had told me upfront that in order to get all the extras I would need to drop a 200$ pledge instead I probably wouldn't have gone in at all.

What? You don’t ‘need’ to do anything. You pledge/buy what you want. Please present a compelling argument as to why everything should be included? And “I feel it should” isn’t good enough. When Zombicide went up it was a simple pledge for the “Game + Stretch-Goal Extras”. Then they added extra dice sets, a few extra character pieces, an additional tile-set... and something else... foam? Anyway, people didn’t seem to have an issue with that, and those that wanted it, bought it, and those that didn’t, didn’t.

My suggestion is that you cancel your pledge. Clearly you feel ‘hard done by’, for whatever imagined entitlement-riddled reason you’ve concocted in your head. Best to bug out now before you feel even more angry about extra products that the evil Mike McVey is ‘forcing’ you to buy.

I agree with you to an extent, and that's why I talked about how much I liked the "out of the box" rewards such as the Painting DVD and the extra campaign. On the other hand, From the KS point of view, they're looking to attract more investment, and so the majority of people have already pledged and the pool of pledgees starts to wane at a certain point, with the exception of last-minute holdouts like myself. Given that, it's really difficult to increase funds in the middle part of the campaign, so optional extras are fine, the way I see it (trying to look at it fairly from both sides - producer and consumer).

Aye, to bring up my own comment earlier, while I am now presuming this original statement was hyperbole, on the off chance it wasn't, where are you seeing 40% off MSRP on gaming, Hellfury?

While the terrain is currently being offered at a mere 25% off MSRP (with free shipping!), I'll not turn my nose up at other things at 40% off...

I do know people that do such deals and I am clearly no friend of them cause in the end they hurt everyone with this attitude. If they also show an attitude that says: "I am entiteld to all I want or else the other side is the bad guy" then I am normally hitting the ignore-button.

I agree with you on both the entitlement issue and "compulsory" point.

But if people can get things for cheap, then more power to them. I don't see how they hurt anyone with that attitude. You may as well try to have a go at all the people in Oceana and Japan who used to (or still do) "cheat" their FLGS and GW by purchasing from overseas (therefore buying things at close to the local wholesale). When you pay for other individual's hobby purchases is when you can be justified at telling that individual where to buy from and how much. Until then, it's none of your business.

I'm on the same boat as others who's gaming crowd won;t be hugely interested in Sedition Wars. But my theory is this:

To eliminate the sting of getting into this kickstarter so close to my wedding, I am selling off my copy of Space Hulk 3rd Ed., which I bought on a splurge when it came out but have never played, only opened and assembled. So if I get 100+ for my SH copy (which I very likely will) when I sell it on ebay right after the honeymoon and by then have spent about the same on SW, and play it even once or twice, I'm totally ahead of the game when it comes to my boardgame addiction, lol!

So for the same money in my house,

$100 Space Hulk, 0 plays per year< $100 Sedition Wars played even a couple of times per year with my buddy or (by then) wife.

Eh. I know when I'm in over my head and this is one of those times. Note that I can't really comment much on Zombiecide because I didn't track that particular game. Weve got 3 zombie board games at our FLGS and that genre is filled enough.

I suppose I should have pointed out that most of my post was intended to show the thought process behind those people whom are actually upset. I've got my 100 bucks in and I won't budge from it because that's the level I decided on. (Sadly, a large part of that decision came from not realizing that not-Isaac and not-Ripley would have stat cards. I am now reconsidering.) Point being I was doing my best to be vocal for the minority faction who are quickly swamped by a crowd of angry Dakkaites with very .. um.. A-Type personalities telling them how they don't know what they are talking about.

I think it mostly boils down to entitlement and wanting all the shinies and the dissapoint of assuming that your 100$ pledge was going to get you that. It's like... well.. I came up with a lot of similes here but they all involved strip clubs or hookers. So thank you very much but I'll keep my pledge where it's at. I was just trying to show you the side that "was completely beyond you."

@scipio
If someone sells 40% below SRP then normally only three things are possible:

> He´s an financial idiot and his shop will end up belly-up within a few months.
> Someone does have a traders account without being a trader (anymore) and still buys stuff at discounts he is no longer entiteld to.
> He sells at a slight loss / no loss to get rid of competition. This is only possible if he is one of the bigger shops and has enough funds coming elsewhere from.

40% is normally what shops get when they buy from games companies and sometimes even less. And normally selling at 40% involves the breaking of some contracts.

Get Niven for $10! This version of him will only be available during this Kickstarter and at conventions. We have big plans for the character though, expect to see more of him later! Expected to ship March 2013.

F**kin' A! Exactly what I wanted.

I think I'm going to have to pass on the extra tiles since I'm already in for the Terrain, Ridley, Lights Out, and Banks past my Biohazard. $200 is where I'll have to draw the line, sadly.

However YES 2ND CTHONIAN. I've only wanted it since the beginning.
