c0un7 - Thanks man. I've just got to figure out how to blend that loudspeaker head into the torso properly now.
I forsee more gear-heads in the future.
And it's the old-skool orks that are a major inspiration for me, so I have to throw the few I have into the mix. So much more character then (Fairly sure that's ben mentioned a few times here now - damn, is that old age starting up? Not just repeating myself, but repeating myself with nostalgia )
CK - Madness should never be under-estimated. Keep an eye out for those new-fangled digital watches. Not so many cogs in those.
mullet_steve - I thank you
bigfish - cheers!
vik - Freaky works for me
CK - Thanks! And I can't imagine where he's packing his pistol
schank - You know, I kinda miss being in there you know. Warm, comfortable, pretty stress free. Just a shame about the lack of materials to work with.
mullet - To be honest I was planning more on having it mounted to the side of his 'waist', possibly with ammo on the other side. Not to say that the dakka-peen is totally off the table, it's a slaaneshi ork after all. But I felt the buzz-saw coming in like a stinger was enough for this one.
weety - He's looking a bit concerned now. He's low on lubricant for a start...
PDH - Well, you know, sometimes the bad places are pretty interesting
graven - Oh now you've done it I'd somehow managed to forget that till now. I'd been thinking a few biker-types might be interesting, that seems to be confirmation
neil - lol, Cheers buddy! Classic Gobbledigook!
Not a lot to show:
So started on one of the marine wheel sprues.
This time I shaved off all the little circular nubbins so I could lay plasticard flat on both sides. This should be the floor of a cab for the trukk-buggies. It has a nice supporting strut down the centre, potentially useful for placing magnets.
I used up some off-cuts for one side as it won't be seen, I just wanted a better base for attaching stuff to. And you can see the handy LOS blocking size that walls made of these would be.
***edit: You can now I've put the right pic in anyway ***
Two more flat-beds waiting for transport options. And whilst looking for something to use in place of my rapidly shrinking plasticard I happened to notice something else that fitted the sprue size almost perfectly. A blister front. So I glued one down, with the help of multiple elastic bands and a couple of tiny pincer things, tricky to get that blister flat all along. It looked like a good shape to turn into either a power-plant or large weapon mount for a land-train configuration. Then I figured I probably didn't want to make it a permanent piece, and really shouldn't have glued it to the sprue yet. Especially as I then realised that was actually the last of those sprues I had
Again, plan something like this out and you'd be able to decide which size to use before hand, basing your choice on available materials. Or you could do like me and bumble along blindly. So I bumbled into the old(?) orc shield sprue, right length, slightly narrower. Easily fixed with a couple of spare bits of sprue. As opposed to those important bits of sprue.
Hard to see in the pic, but I've also drilled two holes at either end of each of the flat-beds now. After deciding to make the blister-pod removable I had to decide how to attach it. Obviously if I could use the same method for both attaching this unit and the cab/coupling connections it would be much easier. So if I have magnets in the bottom of the blister that will line up with the magnets used for the cabs/coupling it's all good. The white strip of plasticard on the left side is the start of a coupling link. It'll have a bit jutting out in the middle which will house the pin on a link piece. Mirrored on the other side. So two magnets in each end. Should be able to magnetise cabs, coupling links, tail-gates and various other parts.
I also considered flipping the blister over so the bottom was the sloped part. This could make the good start of a grot-launcher or similar. But not this time.
I decided it might make a good cab for the land-train configuration. That would probably have something a bit meatier than the senty-cab up front. It even came complete with it's own windshield material.
Of course that means some kind of interior has to be fashioned.
See this was supposed to be a 'little something', a quick and easy trukk. But due to the inherent mekness in which I operate, it's now four small vehicles with a whole bunch of options and one quite large vehicle with a whole host of options waiting to be explored.
It'z not eezy bein' green ya knows....

edit: I just noticed how nonsensical that description of my magnetising plan is, even given the nature of it's surroundings I'll do a better description as i build it, pics will make far more sense than me.

neil - Cheers mate. I would like it to be a fairly basic and therefore 'quick' interior, similar to the one for the half-track trukk. I have ornate plans for the fighta-bomma interior, and for now that's the only detailed interior I want to have to think about Having said that, I have thought about using different side panels with windows on the side of the cab...
Brian - Izzat why dere wuz a lock on da doors? Well, I 'ad to use dat lock for some flyin' gubbinz dinn I.
And lols at the Mek Taint.
Cain - Thank you sir. Carry on grots. More bitz.
Well, actually, I think it needs to be a minimum of 6 to classify as a land train, one cab, 5 'carriages'. It's just getting some handy sized sprue
weety - Thank you. And my pleasure, yours only registered with me because it was so close to mine. Minus 10 years
Didn't get in from work till half-nine, so no updates tonight. And it's my mum's birthday tomorrow so not much tomorrow either probably. I did do a tiny bit of GS work.
And I do mean tiny.
Worked on some grot ears to change a rat-thing familiar into a robed grot. Started on a nose for a Watcher-in-the-dark, for the same reason. And started on a pair of tiny cylinders for a 12-shooter crotch-pistol Damn you graven
The thing is, I don't want whoever gets it to be permanently 'ready for business', so I'd really like it to be hidden behind an opening flap, and be 'poseable' I think I can pull it off with a black orc body. We'll see...
So long, and fanks for all da squigs.....

Well, I'd planned this as a Sunday afternoon update, but it seems to have turned into Sunday night sometime between me deciding to do that and nw. So probably not another update later now.
Nothing done during the week due to getting some nasty bug that had me vomiting like a teenager on a binge. About all I did do was play a few missions on Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 They're all I have left installed on this laptop. And spent most of today doing assignments, hard to get my mind back in that mode of writing. But I did get a bit done yesterday, so with the excuses over let's move on.
Fighta
Finished up the underside:
I may add a bit more detailing on the wings, but not much if any. Other than that it's just a final riveting pass and then onto the paint-grots. There was a small miracle when I managed to drop it onto the wooden floor with no damage other than one of the side guns getting loosened. I was sure it was just about to become history. Between the cabling is a little block with two dots on, and a bit of GS at the end. That's covering a rectangular magnet which I'm hoping is going to hold it on whatever I come up with for a flight base. The big square near the middle has attacment points for rokkits/bomms either side.
The attachments were a pain. I was starting to magnetise them, then realised I was fast running out of magnets, so decided to go for one pin and a magnet in each connector. Then thought the pins were tight enough to hold it in place. So I decided to do the sensible thing, measuring and marking where to drill in my 6 bits of plastic channel to get a nice even fit. Thus ensuring it all went together smoothly. Good job so far dude
Obviously, that's not really what I did.
I came up with a jury rigged way of holding the bits together in a little vice and drilling them all together. What a time saver.
So once I'd got tired of trying to fit the pins I'd glued to the fighta-side attachments into oddly placed rokkit/bomm attachments I came up with the brilliant solution that is visible in those pics. Holes in each attachment ..and...wait for it...magic! 'Cos that's the only way that's going to work at the moment. I'm deciding on whether I should forgo the bomms and just glue the rokits in place. But I want to play a bit first before deciding. Also decided against under-carriage.
For now at least.
*And note to self, need to grab some more tiny magnets, most of what I have left is too big to be of much use in modelling. (On a roll of double-one move the biggest magnet into the centre of the melee in such a manner that all magnetised options fly off the models, inflicting 2D6 damage on any spectators within range)
Trukk #? (1 I think, not sure anymore)
Heightened the cab and gave it a new top hatch. Also gave it a loudspeaka/spotlight. And re-glued the right suspension attachment as it came loose when I dropped the trukk, and by some further miracle did no other damage. Truly my butter-fingers are blessed.
Finished detailing the sides, except the hatch where the grot is peering out, that'll get finished after painting as it'll be easier to mask the hole as is, rather than with a half-open hatch in place. A weapon mount tower has appeared behind the cab too. And that tread-plate has finally been secured to the boarding plank. Still needs the front underside sorting. Need to extend the cab down to fill some of that space and figure the attaching points for the ram and anything else I might want to chuck down there. Also needs the tail-gate sorting, and thickening up the back end so it doesn't look like a single piece of metal sheet. And a bunch of hand-holds, maybe a few foot-plates aroud the cab. Once that's done and it's passed it's rivet-check I'll start thinking about painting it. The options for that mounting point on the left will start getting some attention at that point.
Orkus Mekanikus...
Dose other flash boyz sniggerin at ya out-of-date snazz-gun? Talkin 'bout ya bent barrels? Pointin at ya peelin paint-job? You need ta get yaself a brace of Tek-Masta Dooly's snazz-pistols. More dakka dan a wagon. More barrels dan a stompa. More Bitz dan a mek's table. An' all in a pakage wot's small enuff for ya grot's ta carry eezy-like. Kome an get yaself a bargin today...
Liked the look of the old-skool blasta as a pistol for a flashy ork, and figured a pair of pistols would be cool for some flash-gitz. Used plenty of bits and some copper wire to hide the gap between skaven legs and orc torso. The bionik leg went a bit awry, and I ended up covering it slightly by re-sculpting the robe. Why bother trying to move a single bit of plastic rod when you can get the GS and tools out? Still looks a bit wonky from a variety of angles, but I put that down to him spending all his teef on guns rather than legs.
Well, that's about it for now I guess, cheers for popping in and having a look-see, feel free to sign the visitor's book. It's inside the squig.

lovley stuff you are continiously brewing up here, the skaven leg idea is something i wanted to be seen done with orkses ever since i saw all these 40k skaven armies being made! so it seems the bitz too have conversion potential!
for my own needs i often speculated about getting me some cannon barrels or even mortars form the emprie sets to go as steampunky stacks...so doing it for a futuristic look and using a LR barrel is the way to go!!!
guess the brothers have been keeping their beady eyes on you so that they protected the grotflyer from harm against the ever menacing wooden floar...but mind you what kind of modler has wooden planking in his workspace...to search forevermore after bouncing bitz in the hairs of carpets and how can you proove you´ve been working overhours on minis when no splashed paint soaks into said carpet? where is he evidence then i asketh thee...^^
by the way...was official of you being an old grunt before now it is just pointless to utter my condolences for you getting still even older...well then again...nawww...couldn´t bear with that

The trick is to run a few spare brains in parrallel, studying one's not going to help that much. Come on, you need to think these things through to a logical conclusion before acting if you ever want to conquer the world. 'Double O decimal fraction of an imperial measure' will grab you in no time otherwise, probably before his first drink of the day.
CK - Cheers CK. Along with dakka's little pushes I also think it's down to having got several out of the way, I'm now comfortable with where I'm going with them. And by getting some ideas out fairly quickly (we're talking on a geological scale here obviously) I've got a bit of 'thinking space' for the rest.
But mainly down to dakka
c0un7 - Old-skool minis, old skool games - it's all good And thanks!
neil - Thanks bud! Can't recall exactly where the blasta came from, apart from one of my bits boxes. Possibly an old flash git?
Brave man shoving your hand down the squig's throat.
vik - Skaven are great, I've got grots and boyz made out of them Glad you like the 'smoke stack' too.
Umm, the kind of modeller that was too impatient to re-start modelling he never got round to re-laying a carpet after the gret flood of '10
Cheers
Rogue Wolves - Thanks, glad you like 'em!
GG - Cheers, I do find sticking tiny bits of plasticard together quite restful
Yes it is, Upzag and Grimsnik are perfectly accepting of cross-dressing, trans-species cyborks
weety - Thanks, Mad Max is always a good look for orkses Yeah, I'm less likely to lose things to the carpet's pet black hole now, but more likely to watch them shatter into a hundred little pieces..
So, let's see what's on the table at the moment -
Cute. And nasty
A sweet little attack squig to play with the kids.
Trukk #1 (I believe)
Finished the build on the trukk.
The 'smoke stack' got the dakka mounting plate put in place Some wiring, and final rivet pass. Post painting additions will be the hatch for the servo-grot, the weapons, and chains for the tail-gate. I did play briefly with structural tubes forming a roll cage type thing, but just didn't work. Neither did my idea for a buch of shields as extra armour. Not to worry, sure they'll crop up somewhere.
Fighta
The fighta made it into the spray-booth. Or rather, the spray-grots eacaped, and found the fighta.
Not a lot to see yet, but it does show I have started to colour it in
Trukk #1 - slight return
And started splashing some colours at the trukk
Mainly just base coats, but a few areas have more done, a few are still in black. The yellow panel somehow got almost done before everyhwhere had a base colour down. Actually didn't do it the way I had planned at all, was looking at a variation on the chipping scheme I've become happy with, but ended up stippling metal on before I realised And I like how it came out so far, think I'll just add some stains and pick out the rivets and pretty much leave it, add some powders after it's all done.
Forgot to mask the windshield, only noticed as I was turning it into the spray! Don't think any black got in before I stopped and masked it
And as it appears to be close to sunrise, I think it's time I tottered off, ta-ta.

A Squeaky Waaagh!!
Camkhieri: "And another very cool thing, my phones predictive text actually gave me chicken as an option after typing robot, how cool is that."'
Meercat: "All eyes turned to the horizon and beheld, in lonely and menacing grandeur, the silhouette of a single Grot robot chicken; a portent of evil days to come."
