Figured it would be cool for some OSL and a few other places -
This figure used the paints he made with them, and it has to be one of the best things I have ever seen mini-wise -
Other than that, a bunch of flex-i-file stuff, some liquid GS from GW too... I may or may not have bought a large batch of FW stuff, including a few Contemptors. I also may or may not have bought a classic seated Patriarch which I am doing slight GS modifications to in order to bring it inline with current stealer aesthetics. I may or may not have chopped up a finecast Astorath as a base for a custom Mephiston...
For those who have never seen Massive Voodoo before... go to their site, oggle the amazing minis, and LEARN. They are very generous with their tutorials, and they are legitimate masters of every single aspect of mini painting/builing/sculpting that I can think of. They set the standard those boys!
Yeah, Raffa's a great artist and his Baal Pred totally blew me away when I first saw it.
For the pigments I think you should be able to achieve the same effects with the florescent paints from Createx. Seen them a few times at De Serres though never picked any up since I figured they'd be too bright. It'll be interesting to see how it works out for you and your FW loot...get painting
I wanted to try the pigment route as getting complete control over the color saturation at source seemed interesting... all in all though, just getting pre-bottled stuff would have been vastly, vastly cheaper... damned hobby hording...

So... been a while friends, thank my baby son for the break! And being a Mod and designing the new dakka logo and site and junk... it certainly eats into your hobby time!
But, all things come to an end, even hobby breaks... it's hard to believe it's been 2 years since I drew this up when I started this project -
Based on this inspiration of course -
Then, a while later, Inquisitor Earl sculpted up the sketch, along with a 5 other hybrids based on the art. I got this guy back -
I made a few small finishing sculpts, mostly revolving around repositioning the right arm and reposing it slightly, resculpting the entire upper part of the head and part of the face, and a few small tweaks on the armor sections... this of course, left the staff top to consider... at which point, I designed this icon and committed to make it happen -
Which I did... a little on the large side but hey, still surprised I actually pulled it off!
And so last we saw him, he looked something like this -
And finally, a year since then... he is done! I am quite happy with the result... I think it is the best skin I have ever painted, and thanks to Massive Voodoo above and their inspiration for Neon colors, the richness of the color IRL and surprisingly even in the pics is striking. So... here he is -
I will probably go on a bit of a build and converting spree for upcoming projects next, but, there are 3 models left for the SpaceHulk Project... Dantenator, a juvenile Magus/standard bearer and the classic, seated patriarch... with a bit of sculpting to bring it in line with the design of the new stealers of course!
Will try to get back to a bit of a regular schedule, I know many of you have been waiting for Dantenator to be finished for years at this point! It will happen! Slow and steady lol -

Really outstanding work. Too many things to comment on specifically, but I love the grub and the patterning on his robes. Sculpt is top notch, and his skin is just as I'd always thought of it... with a very slight lavender element to it.

During the Rogue Trader/2nd Edition days, a large part of the background for the Genestealers was that they would infiltrate a planet, infecting people and forming a cult. When it got big enough, it would act as a psychic beacon to attract a Tyranid Hive Fleet to invade the planet - the cultists, at this point, would rise up against the established authority on the planet.

Great job mate! It's good to finally see this guy finished too - giving me a lot of motivation to give a gene stealer magus another go after my original got sidelined 2-3 years ago now.
Looking forward to a return to progress on this project too! (congrats on the little guy too - not sure I said already)
