@whalemusic360: Shush, you!
@Gitsplitta: Thanks! Again, it looks quite a bit better in real life. Guess my camera didn't like me again that night.
@Reaper Man 2020: Thank you!
Hey guys, things are proceeding slowly on the ship but when I just put the parts together for an update photo I can start to see it coming together. That's why I once again added the crew to the shot, just to make it look prettier. From now on, I'll proceed probably even slower because I actually got quite a lot of commission stuff to do. Awesome stuff too, it's just all 40k for now I'm afraid. Still, stay tuned and you'll find real neat large FW 40k stuff in here as well soon!
Hope you like it and have a nice weekend!

@MrMerlin: Yus about as big as it can get. Well, third biggest it can get I guess.
@Reaper Man 2020: Thanks.
@Vitruvian XVII: Yeah, added a bit because halfway through painting the thing I got the idea of adding something that wouldn't fit otherwise.
@Gitsplitta: Cheers.
Update on the Landship:
Yeah, I know. Work is proceeding very slowly or let's call it cautiously. I don't want to make any mistakes on that. The metallics and the weathering thereof really is time consuming. Basically what's happened since the last update is the shield emblems (I like to think that these are the coats of arms of various business families and merchant conglomerates from Marienburg who helped funding the Landship), the painted extended mast I added about 5cm because it looked a little short. I guess it's my way of compensating for the fact that my motor yacht in Monte Carlo has no mast at all. Something like that. :p Other than that, I glued the levers onto the machinery, did the frontal hub cabs and the prow cannon is painted and magnetized in place. Plus of course copper pipes and other machinery parts on the engine. I also did some work on a little add-on, chose a flag to go on top of the mast and such smaller stuff.
Oh well, see you soon and I hope that you like it so far!

Looking awesome Siggy! I actually think my favorite part of this piece is the shading done across the wooden sides of the ship. How they get darker towards the bottom. It just seems right.

Hullo.
Well, it's been quite a while, hasn't it.
For the most part this update took me so long because a.) I've been working on Fantasy stuff and b.) once I was back to doing 40k stuff I worked on building an army (which isn't all that interesting to look at) and afterwards, and still really, I've been painting a few squads simultaneously so the overall proceedings weren't terribly quick either.
Anyhow, now I'm back and with first pictures of the "Battle for New Rynn City" themed Crimson Fists army:
There are all kinds of nice things coming up in this army so stay tuned!

@Moltar: Thanks! There is indeed something very iconic about that colour scheme, especially with the older, studded armour.
@GiraffeX: I did a tutorial on that about a year ago. It's a step-by-step article about Wolf Guard in power armour. You can look it up either here on Dakka or on my blog on sigur.tabletopgeeks.com
@Dysartes: The defense missle that went stray hit the boltgun stash. They have to run around, pretending to hol boltguns and shout "pow-pow" at the Orks.
@Gitsplitta: Cheers!
@whalemusic360: :p Still, they hold their ground pretty well simply by using one-way street signs to lead bike squadrons in circles for days, set street lights to "don't walk" so footsloggers wouldn't be able to cross streets, painting misleading guidance strips on the ground, paint fake tunnel entrances on walls, orks would try to enter and run into walls... all that urban guerilla warfare stuff.
@Reaper Man 2020: Thanks, I appreciate your comments!
@TiB: Ah, I know when that happens. Sometimes models just look so pretty that you're surprised when they pop up. At times that happens to me as well when I just have to comment on a paintjob loudly or just start laughing because I see a cool conversion I hadn't thought of before. Thanks ever so much for the compliment.
Update!
Crimson Fists Attack Bike!
Apart from that.... errrr.... oh, I noticed that there are two more expansions for Death Angel, that Space Hulk Card game (and one of my favorites by Fantasy Flight Games. In fact I plan to play it once again this weekend). Very much looking forward to getting those some time soon. And I have to say that Blood Bowl Team Manager looks really nice as well. FFG really know their stuff and manage to do the GW IP justice by packing them into very nice games.
Earlier today I tried filming myself while painting (mainly just as an experiment and because I can now). Turns out I have to somehow get the autofocus to work, my lighting again shows its weaknesses (maybe it's just the colour of my table though) and it's kind of hard getting the right angle so you can actually see what I'm doing. Still, fun to experiment with.
Aaaaaaalso, Rich Jones (I hope I remember the name right, sorry if I messed up) from Too Fat Lardies, the publisher of acclaimed rules systems like I ain't been shot, Mom, Charlie don't Surf or Sharp Practice, wrote an interesting article on his views about points systems in historical miniature wargames. You can read it here if you want.
Alright, that's it for random babbling along with some pictures. This weekend should be good. After surprising amounts of snow yesterday the weather took a complete 180° turn and it looks like spring again today. I'll either power on on the Crimson Fists oooor do a very pretty Bloodbowl team. Let's see. Yeah, I guess that's all for now. Have a good weekend, people!

Wow Siggy! remember how a while ago I said your space wolves were my favorite ones you painted? and now you've just done the Crimson Fists..... well,.........guess what?
.... Nah, wolves still number one! :-) but these fists are equally as good and simply beautiful to gaze at, the weathering is perfect and I love the fact that the army is themed on Rynns world, I am also stealing the grenade throwing bolter holding pose!

It's all well and good, as the Orks believe they're getting shot at, but then you get the Ork charging back at them going "Tank! Tank! Tank!"

@nerdfest09: Thanks, mate! The squads are also named after the names of the squads and vehicles as listed in the Planetfall expansion book. (Visible only on the terminators squad so far really)
@Cutthroatcure: Well, once you got a recipe and a modus operandi it goes fairly quick. I also devote quite a bit of time to painting. :p
@Dysartes: Arf, don't remember me of that rubbish "theory". Had a chat about that this saturday when we were making characters for a Dark Heresy adventure.
Update! Today we got tactical Marines WITH bolters due to a general outcry for more boltguns on those guys across the interweb (look at the guy in the far right. He looks like he's straight out of Rogue Trader, doesn't he? Really cool. ), WIP mission markers and the WIP scouts squad. Hope you like them.
Well, that's it for this Sunday. Oh, those Scouts have really some elaborate urban camo on their camo cloaks but due to the fact that I forgot to take pictures of their backs you'll just have to take my word for it. I'll post those along with the next update.

@nerdfest09: Thanks mate.
Update!
Markers finished, Scouts finished, Scout backsides!
Apart from that - not many news. Did not get to play Death Angel this weekend. We did however play Pandemic, which was fun and surprisingly close. I'm not sure if you can play this game often in a short amount of time but for every once in a while, it's good fun. Also not very complicated really. Not sure what the expansion does to the game but in its core version I'd say that you definately should have a look if you're interested in some co-operative boardgaming. It's good fun. People should play more boardgames dangit.
Ah yes, I almost forgot. I got some books I ordered off amazon: Donald Featherstone's "War Game - Battles and manoeuvres with model soldiers" and "Skirmish Wargaming". Very, very much looking forward to getting into those.
