Thank you guys!
Next year I'll try an entry to Armies on Parade with my Thousand Sons.
Talking of the TS, I've finally managed to get something done on the rhinos! I've ordered the missing element to connect my airbrush to the compressor I had for my birthday and started to practice on the rhinos:
I've also worked on the gunners the classic way:
And since I started to play with my airbrush I thought "why just on the rhinos?", so:
Sadly the pics don't show the contrast as it looks for real.
What do you think?

Man I feel like it's been forever since I've been able to post on Dakka and check out the threads I enjoy. I'm sorry to see that you're working on the Changer of Ways when you know that in the end all things come to Nurgle...
...but in any case it's good to see you working and posting an update. Really good work, and the airbrush work makes me jealous. I have to get one.

Thank you all guys! I'm glad you like my first attempt at airbrushing with the compressor (compared to how I had to work on my Death guard with a propeller can, it opens so many possibilities!)

Hum, Change Grinder? I like this name better than the Soul Hunter I had in mind.
Skalk Bloodaxe wrote:Man I feel like it's been forever since I've been able to post on Dakka and check out the threads I enjoy. I'm sorry to see that you're working on the Changer of Ways when you know that in the end all things come to Nurgle...

Come on Skalk, Papa Nugrle will always get some love from me (and I think my plague hulk needs a little more airbrushing )
But until I get a new place of my own (which should happen in January -I 'm back at my parent's place for the moment) unpacking too much stuff is not reasonable, so I'm focused on the Thousand Sons and dark Vengeance.
However there is one thing I was completely unable to pack, one large thing that my wife had banned in the basement for a loooooooong time...
One of my oldest projects (started in 2009), and probably the one which required more imagination that any other...
The only one which ended in shame and deception...until I thought I could re-envisioned it a few weeks ago...
And now it's back! (Ro ll the drums)
THE SILVER TOWER!!!
(ta-dah!!!)
I've only done a few modifications but I think the new concept you'll discover in the next weeks should look good (and less like an archaic flying coffee machine)
As you can see the cone has been reduced, it won't be the core of the tower anymore, but rather a roof to the main section whcich will be built from this PVC element:
some details have been added (and it's just a beginning)
There is a lot more in progress, but I want to keep some stuff for later (tomorrow is a promising day!)
Thank you all guys for looking at this thread even if it has not been updated regularly for months, it helps to stay motivated!
Cheers!

Thanks man!
Here's the latest progress on the tower: the door.
I've started to build an entrance around the doors I've made two years ago. the incense burners are from the skaven screaming bell.
And here's what it looks like on the new central section of the tower:
Next step (after adding some details) will be to build the sorcerors' shooting positions, that is to say 4 smaller building (probably in the same spirit as my com-shrine, but that's not a definitive choice) at the top of stairs coming from the central section (I'm not sure I'm clear, but I have a good vision of it )
Any opinion?

Hey everyone!
Just a small update on the silver tower.
If you browse to the first pages of this thread you'll find an entrance to the silver tower that I had built, representing a soul vortex.
(For the laziest among you:
)
I've decided to sculpt something similar and to make a mold of it that I could use to build "windows" on the silver tower.
Here's how it looks:
and the mold:
I'll try to make a test copy soon.
Cheers guys!

Thanks! I'm curious to see what I'll get in the end, perhaps it will be ugly, but at least it made me think more seriously of casting my own creations for press-molding.

Thanks man! Yes I'd have been glad to bring the model back home, but I still have the trophy
So, after the test with the vortex will be done, I'll work on the wizzards shooting positions. I'm thinking of using a new material for it, but you'll see about it later.
A la prochaine!

Thank you Skalk!
Here's the first test of a press moulded soul vortex:
The result seems to be far less detailed than the original sculpt, but I'm still going to try to paint it (just in case it would look better).
I've also added a little something to the door:

Hey guys!
It's been more than four months since I last updated this thread, I think I've beaten my own record!
Nothing new about the silver tower, however, I've found a material that will be very helpful on this project.
I've done a little work on the Thousand Sons:
And I've started a sorcerer to use as HQ (combined with Zahak, the Daemon Prince, it should work just fine)
It's just a regular CSM sorcerer, with the left arm of the Doomrider on which I've opened the hand.
I've also started to work on twelve more Noise marines (since with the new codex, I can't use blastmasters in squads of less than ten men).
For some of them I've ordered some Kromlech heads:
 .
Now something completely different.
Now that I have a basement in which I have installed a working space, I've started to work on something I wished to do for a while:
rebuilding the old cardboard Imperial Bastion.
A while ago, a good soul had provided to me the pdf scans of the elements, and I really wanted to give it a try, but it would have implied far too much plasticard.
Recently I've discovered a variant of styrene sheet used to make commercial signs. It's cheap, easy to cut and perfect to build the main structures of such a building.
Here are the first pics of the bastion:
(note on this last pic, the platform is perpendicular to th rest of the building, it's a problem with the angle of the pic)
This original building implied the use of bulkheads, but since I ran low on these (and keeping the last ones I have for when I'll really need them) I'm building an alternative:
Any advice or opinion?
Since I'll soon have holidays, you can expect more to come soon!

Thank you for the replies guys
This styrene sheets are a wonder to work with, so easier to cut than the classic plasticard, ans cheaper too! It would be perfect to build eldar terrain!
I'll use some on the silver tower after the bastion will be finished.
Here are the latest progress on the bastion:
I've added walls on the rear:
The first layer of the "proto-bulkehead" has been glued:
The rear platform/walkway will be made of textured plasticard reinforced with styrene:
like this:
and placed here:
I think I'll add some pilars under the platform. Any suggestion?

Two questions:
1) Can you identify/show us where you get the signage sheets?
2) Can you provide the PDF scan? I want to build one, too!
Looking good!

In a local generalist hardware supermarket in the 'cut on demand' aisle with the mdf boards.

It's 3mm thick sheet. As Blachand said, it's worth gold (not in price ) but working with it is wonderful!
Here are my latest progress on the bastion:
I've finished the second part of the main walkway
I've also built the other walkways:
and started to hide the gaps in the main walls at the rear of the bastion, using plasticard to make some extra armor:
Now, I'll have to work seriously on the replacement of the external bulkheads. I'll try to get some inspiration from the original bulkheads (and might give a try at the plans Dave posted on my Gorkamorka thead.
If anyone has any idea, please, tell me.

Thank you for the info Jake, one of my problem is solved (making my new noise marines to fit the look of my squads). I'll reconsider all my new noise marines according to this, whith probably a new squad (with the Kromlech heads), and reinforcements for two of the existing squads. I've also got some new WHFB forsaken heads I wished to use on my Emp Kids. I'll soon show you what's the result's going to be.
