Well, the dreadnought is in the mail, so until that arrives, I decided to assemble a bunch of stuff I had lying around, and start working on projects that were on the backburner. Here's where I'm at for today: Dreadclaw assembled (without all the fins and claws), Malcador Defender mostly assembled (needs conversions).

Also, I remembered why I didn't want to assemble this second Dreadclaw. These damn joints on the claws are the devil, they snap too easy so they must be pinned heavily, and these pins are so damn hard to put down in a straight line. Greenstuffing is almost mandatory so that it doesnt look silly.

Small update, that's all for now,

Here is this weekend's progress, I got work done on the stormsword with the Salt layer and 2 layers of paint on that, I got a layer of paint on my Leman Russ, I added some damage to the Malc, and finally finally some work on the crashed spaceship. So without further ado:

Here's an example of a damaged segment on the malc, I wanted to make it clear just how thick the armor on this tank is so I made it a little deeper than a normal tank.

Lastly, the crashed ship has been on the backburner for months, but I finally put some work into it. There have been panels added, plumbing, the plasma reactor has been finished, and this thing is on track to be done soon. The remaining parts to be done are the roof, the rivets everywhere, general wiring, and then greenstuffing to nurglify it up a bit.

And the icing on the cake, it really needed this on the side:

Til next time!

Nice work Nikolakhs.
You and i have very similar takes on Nurgle. I too think that sometimes there is way to much crazyness going on with some of the nurgle vehicles. Yours have a toned down appearance which is really nice. Love the salt weathering too. I am warming up to doing a bunch of sponge weathering on my nurgle vehicles as well.

Where did some of your nurglings come from. The one on your objective marker with the toxic orange goo running out on its head looks different from the ones i have. are where is the figure on the deck of your superheavy from. I dont recognize that one either.

Thanks for the replies,

The nurglings on the tank are from maxmini, the "lesser plague demons" I'm pretty sure they're called. I was dubious about their quality at first but I was blown away by how much cooler than the GW nurglings they are. The nurgling on the objective marker I *think* is from the epidemius kit, but I honestly don't remember.

And I'm planning on making more terminators soon, keep an eye out in the upcoming months

Here's today's progress:

I finished the damage on the main areas of the armor plate. There is still a lot of work to be done, and I started on the metal areas, but there is rusting to be done on those, the cracks in the armor plates need to be darkened, and overall weather damage and staining still needs to be done. Also the nurglings need painted, the daemonic parts need painted, and all other details as well!

Ugh. Almost forgot about the rivets. All of those rivets...

It has been... a while since I've updated this thread. I've gotten a lot of stuff done since then, but today I'm only gonna update the most recent stuff. Everything else is in my personal gallery. I've been busy these last few days! I decided to base all of my army (except the 40mm bases, I got tired and didn't get to them.) Also, to finish assembling all of my superheavies, and to build some terrain for the hell of it. So, here's some pics of all of that work:

This pic includes 4 squads worth of bases out of the total 7, 3 blight drones, 2 hell blades, 3 havocs that are built, and 2 characters. Give or take 1500pts of stuff.

I got sent an extra 2 right sides to one of the malcadors. Don't know what to do with it, so it's terrain:

Next, the Praetor missile tanks I've been working on. I ran out of undercoat spray after the 1 :sniff: They've both been upgraded with lascannons, just in case any vehicles get close to them.

I finished assembling the Malcador, and started to undercoat it when the spray paint can really just stopped doing it's job. Went and bought 2 more cans to prime everything in the next week. I magnetized the demolisher cannon as it *will* be the first weapon removed when my opponents get to choose. :hate:

Lastly, I've been working on some berzerkers to add to this army, maybe a little Khornate contingent to mix things up a bit. I always liked the look of those blood slaughterer things, and you need to have zerks in your army to take them. So I'm thinking of adding around 1k of a Khornate element to this army. They won't be painted in Red and Brass, but they won't have chipped armour either. I'll figure something out.

Well that's all for now, I'm gonna have a lot of stuff to do soon, there is a large apoc game coming up in January that I'll be partly hosting, and I want to bring at least 5k points with me.

Thanks for the praise

Real life gets in the way sometimes, I had a tough semester and lots of work, never had enough time to actually work on anything 40k related. This army should have been done a long time ago, but again, real life interferes. Now, I think I'll be able to get in routine updates as I get them done, but once in 6 months is a bit extreme, I agree.

Hey y'all!

So I'm pretty much done with my crashed ship, all that's left to do is to make the base it'll rest on with the long skid mark from where it dragged across the battlefield before coming to a halt. The top is removable so that it can be used as functional terrain in-game, and the inside has enough room to get squad vs squad combat. If need be, the top is angled at a small enough angle where squads can fight it out on the surface (assuming they don't get impaled by the spikes.) The last 2 things that'll be done with this is adding a lascannon sponson on the top piece, because even a dropship would have some basic defenses, and to take 2 shot glasses and make those side engines next to the main one. Next: to start work on the middle third; that includes the bridge, and troop compartments.

Also I don't remember if I posted this guy yet:

He's my tall, fat sorcerer

Lastly, I've got some paint on that terrain that I'd built and posted last time. These just need weathering and they'll be good to go, along with some water effects and snow.

Thanks for looking!

So... hi. Instead of putting off life in order to make my armies better, I went and got myself a college degree! So you're looking at a recent graduate with degrees in Chemistry and Physiology, woohoo! That being said, I have managed to do a little work over the last two years, so I wanted to share.

Anyways, I wanted to show y'all some goodies! Let's start with my favorite, my scratchbuilt Defiler. This guy was heavily inspired by a slaughterfiend that was made on papanurgle.com, I can't remember the guy who did it, but I promised him I'd copy the design. And I did. I'll toot my own horn here though and say that I think I improved it! This son of a bitch took so long to convert, and I forgot to take any pictures of the process. All of the cables are greenstuff, as are the pus sacs. This whole model weighs like half a pound thanks to greenstuff! I armed it with a battle cannon, twin-linked heavy flamers (the little flamer claws) and a reaper autocannon.

...Next! Almost done with my Malcador Defender that I picked up in 2011. It sat unworked for a long time, I actually really hate this model... The whole thing went together so badly, and heavy bolters are just... meh. But here it is:

...Next! I have some details like lenses to finish painting on this Russ, but other than that it's done. I sometimes get bored of the last little details and just forget about them, it's a recurring trend among lots of my minis. It's a bad habit. But here's the tank, I really like this one. I magnetized the sponsons in case they are destroyed, and the underlying meshwork implies that that part of the armor has been breached. I tried to keep an armored continuity with all of my vehicles, and that is where the red and white striped parts come in. I wanted all the vehicles to show that they belonged in one squadron or another, and I think it worked out!

Healthy:

Damaged:

...Next, I have the Twins: two sorcerers that used to see extensive use in my army. The one is short and dark, the other is tall and albino. Squatty is done, the tall guy is not. I wanted to make two models out of the one plastic kit, I don't like paying GW prices and only getting one thing out of them. It's nurgle for christs sake.

Squatty:

Lanky:

So next we have the Great Unclean one that I was working on. This is the old Ultraforge GUO, one of the better sculpts out there in my opinion. My end goal was to have 7 different GUO's. Now I'm not so sure about that, but I think it's still a good goal, as there are 7 companies that make 7 really good GUO's.

Let's see... next is my Greater Spined Beast / Big Fackin Spawn that I've been putting together. When I saw this kit for fantasy, I just had to buy it. I didn't know what to do with it, but my creative instincts kicked in. Once he's done he'll be a fully automated Dark Mechanicus construct, fully integrated into some of the darker aspects of this army:

Next is a conversion that I loved before I royally screwed it up and lost all motivation to fix it. I tried my hand at extensive source lighting, and failed epically. This is supposed to be a fully biomechanical Dark Mechanicus construct, as I actually really hate the original Slaughterfiend model. The tail was a bitch and a half to sculpt, but it got done. As you can see, the cannons are magnetized and removable, with the future option of making it into a maulerfiend. I wanted it to look as much like DOG from Half Life 3 as possible but without losing its own character. So now I just need to redo the OSL on it and pretend that never happened. So please, overlook the really crappy OSL on the carapace, try to imagine it without.

Next I've got some terrain that I was working on in my last post here. I finished it all up, and it's just been sitting here. So here it is all done, my next goal is to make a gaming table:

Lastly, yes lastly: a heavy weapons terminator. I wanted to make a truly unique model, similar to the rest of my terminators. I didn't want to settle for just any normal reaper-carrying termi, I wanted him to be on his way towards becoming a real Obliterator, fully possessed by nurgle. Svartmetall really inspired this WIP, I hope you like it:

...So. That's all for now. Sorry it's been so long, but hopefully this makes up for it? Hope to see more of you around!

Excellent work on the tanks and the termies, particularly finding a paint scheme which makes the accretions on the obliterator models look like filth and avoids the "chewing-gum" look those parts can have.

Yeah, honestly the whole "nurgle" style where you choose a paint scheme and then try to make the chaotic growth bits look as bizarre as possible on it never appealed to me. I've seen it on so many armies where the chaotic growths clash horribly with the paint style, and I don't understand why people do it that way. I'm happy you appreciate it though!

Yo, peeps.

So I've found myself with some free time lately due to a bout of unemployment, and what's a good nurgling to do but to get to all those unfinished projects that he has lying around? Well, if you're me, you start new ones! So here's an update with some WIP's of some dark mechanicus that I want to bring to my collection, as well as the last shot of the Greater Chaos Spawn that I made before he starts getting painted. Sorry for the gakky pics, I took them in a hurry.

Without further ado, here's the unit of 20 Dark Mechanicus menials / acolytes that I built. I have no idea what these would play as in a game, I built them because I wanted to. Maybe cultists? Who knows.

I was going to give them all purpose-made power claws, but wow they are a pain in the ass to built. I also figured that they'd be useless if none of them had fine motor skills, so many are just given a rusty blade to hold on to. All the Dark Mechanicus will be painted in schemes to complement the Lords of Decay army, as I figure if they're traveling together they probably share some of the same rags and some of the same Nurgley beliefs.

And here's the Greater Spawn, with almost all the greenstuffing done. There's some details left to do still, but those'll get done tonight. So it's on to painting!

That's all for now,
-Nikolakhs
