So i was looking at the piles of all my war gaming books i bought this year . Things rangeing from codexs to ww1 rules what was your fav book purchase of 2011 ? and why ? Mine has to go to Warhammer Historicals : Waterloo book . Wargaming rules for the Napoleonic period . first of all its a huge Forge world style tome , full of great pics and models , great diagrams and history . The book has good rules , army list for everything . Standard battle missions a campaign system . A Historical campaign with a complete historical order of battle for every unit that fought . Books just driping with wargames goodness . Thats mine for Production value , quailty and by the way some good rules . I know most of you , Nappy battles arent your thing . But i wanna hear what other great wargaming books are out there ? Happy Holidays to every one .

It will actually be a Forge World order that I'm making this week, either a Carmine Dragon or a Dark Eldar Tantalus. Still deciding.

I think Codex: Necrons was the only gaming book I bought this year, so I'm gonna go with that.

Tomorrow's War by Osprey publishing.

Only other gaming book I purchase this year was a single 40k codex (Grey Knights) but TW is sooooo far ahead in both quality and art and feel, that the GW codex just doesn't rate a mention.

So far I have only bought 2 game books this year.

Dark Eldar Codex & Heavy Gear Arena.

Seeing as HGA was a total abortion of a rulebook and overpriced about 500% the DE book totally gets my vote.

Since I only brought the WDs with the SoB codex in it, it's clearly not going to be GW related.

Would have to be this as it's the only other one I brought this year.

Finally picked up a few older WM books I've been missing, but I'd have to say WRATH was my favorite.

Yes a friend of mine got that book and said it was outstanding.

I will go for the Infinity rulebook. Despite some slightly dodgy translation, it's beautifully laid out and illustrated. The rules are freely downloadable, but I think there is something to be said for putting your feet up in the evening with a cup of tea and a door-stop tome on your lap.

That Waterloo Book looks incredible.

Myself I haven't really bought much, I guess it would be Codex Imperial Guard, or the BGB. Was away from the hobby ages.

My vote would have to be for my Warhammer Forge Tamakhan: The Throne of Chaos book. It's very well written, with tons of beautiful artwork in it.

Cause the chicks dig it...

The only books I've bought this year are Codex: Necrons, Codex: Tyranids and Imperial Armour Apocalypse: Second Edition.

I dislike a lot of the fluff in the 'Crons book, I find the 'Nids one difficult to make army lists with and I've yet to get a game of apocalypse in using the Imperial Armour book!

Out of these three though, based purely on leafing through and enjoying the pictures, would be IA - 2nd ed

I would have liked to have picked up the Warhammer Forge Tamakhan: The Throne of Chaos book, but laziness prevents me so far.

Not bought any GW books for a long while, but Malifauxs Twisiting Fates is the winner for me.

Considering that I still couldn't get my hands on Tomorrow's War, my vote will have to go for Force on Force.

From several Codexes and Rulebooks I bought this year, I was most impressed by the Siege of Vraks series and the Raid on Kastorel Novem (hope it's written correctly ... otherwise IA 8).

Between those two (I'll handle the 3 Vraks books as one, as it's one Campaign), its a hard match so I'll decide on a tie between them (one has great renegades and DKoK while the other has just whacky Orcs... you can't go wrong with whacky Orcs )

Night Lords: 5500 points / 1750 points painted
Orks: 1250 points / 300 points painted
Orcs & Goblins: 6000 points / 2500 points painted
Tomb Kings: 3000 points / 1500 points painted

Blood in the Badlands. I'm a sucker for hobby-orientated books. A much nicer campaign system than Mighty Empires with a fair bit of inspiring stuff in it!

Vampire 20th Anniversary Edition.

500+ pages with full color illustration blew my mind. Also, updating the setting to modern day was great. I could go on forever about how food this book is. Hopefully in a few years they do one for Mage.

I purchased the Infinity rulebook and Human Sphere book. Definitely the highlight of the year for me. The Warhammer Forge Tamurkhan (sp?) looks incredible and will be my first book purchase of next year.

Didn't get many books this year, but I would have to go with Warhammer Orks or Ogre Kingdoms, if anything just because of the hardback & full color thing. Both are really nice lookin books and I'm hoping (from a collecting standpoint, not my wallet) that 40K 6th edition codexes will be the same way

Yes, despite the cost, I've warmed to the new Warhammer hardback army books too, although because of the cost, I won't be buying all of them anymore.

Orcs and Goblins is my favourite so far, though there are no doubt better gaming books out there at the moment.

Same for me overall, but on the GW front its Codex: Necrons
