While I am in a job field where I can see this mistake as something completely out of Mcvey's hands, you kind of have to chuckle when you wonder if anything can actually go smoothly in ANY step of this KS.......*rolls eyes*

We got the extra decks in earlier than expected in the warehouse today, and Battlefoam UK will have them on Monday (barring any issues with UK customs, which we don't expect for printed material). Interrupted shipping resumes! Terrain Packs are scheduled to arrive September 1st to both warehouses, so there shouldn't be any interruption in shipping as we ship everything without terrain packs first. No terrain pack for me, so hopefully not too much longer.

Still a little aggravated that they're shipping the ones with terrain packs later, and didn't ever mention that when there was the option to buy them- I might have not bought once, since I'm impatient to see the rules :/

You can download the rules now, and have been able to for a while. As for the terrain pack folks getting their boxes shipped later (including mine) I don't see what else they should do. They have the labor and stuff on hand to start shipping the ones without the terrain packs, makes sense to do so. Assuming the terrain actually does show up the 2nd or 3rd (the 1st is Sunday, I would be surprised if they actually got a Sunday delivery) the sets with them should ship next week. Not too big a deal and they are at least communicating the delays with us for once. I VERY seriously doubt they knew they were going to be delayed when folks were ordering them...

I'm sure they can't have known exactly when it would clear customs; that's a fickle and arcane process like no other, completely unpredictable anywhere in the world.
They knew pretty damn well they were cutting it close as all feth though. Still, that's product fulfillment for ya and TBH as long as they're continuously shipping out at a decent pace I don't even mind all that much; they're, what? 5 months late now? Another week won't kill me

Yeah, I'm pretty critical of CMON and McVey, but like the printer issue (which yes, could have been communicated more effectively) this one isn't something to blame them for. Automatically Appended Next Post: And gak, we're talking about a week's difference, which is next to nothing at this point.

US customs are very predictable. It always takes me exactly 14 days to import anything from Japan once it ships. It's like clockwork.

Same here for customs on packages, at least those delivered to consumers (me, amongst others ). Getting a container through customs can take wildly varying amounts of time. Read back through some of CMoN's earlier updates (for wave 1 SW I believe they aluded to it quite specifically to that, too) for example.

There's a big difference between importing individual packages from various places in the world and bringing in a shipping container for a commercial venture.

You'd think so, but no. The way I've heard it explained is that all packages go through a uniform checking process which is sufficiently well-staffed to cover uniformly; containers on the other hand go through randomly-selected spot checks with varying levels of scrutiny often not uniformly applied.
Apparently there's nowhere near enough customs staff to check each and every container as thoroughly and they mix up and randomize the process to such a degree that noone (especially not drug traffickers, for example ) can figure out which container gets deep-scanned and which only gets a cursory examination.
Of course the difficulty in shipping an untraceable package is a lot lower than in shipping an untraceable container which is probably why this is how it goes.
Besides, your two-week package from Japan is most definitely *not* shipped by sea - that's airfreight.
Airfreight has a modicum of priority/expediency expected of it, which customs is calculated not to completely screw up. Sea freight, yeah not so much,
Of course the reason why I have to pay frankly stupid amounts of handling fees on every package which customs tapes even the tiniest invoice onto has more than a bit to do with the personnel required to actually keep this system going as quickly as it does.
...So no, you're completely wrong here.
And really, how is one container easier to ship than one air package? because that would be the correct comparison.

There's some other aspects to it as well as what Bolo described. Your packages and mine are typically part of the international mail system. They go via air, as already described. Once arrived (here), they go through Australia Post Customs Postal operations where Postal officers and Customs officers work together to identify suspect packages and what gets cleared and what doesn't. When a suspect package is discovered, it typically takes about a week longer to arrive. I've had quite a few in my time, as I've been getting multiple packages from overseas on a weekly basis for many years now. Things like resin miniatures are the sort of thing likely to be picked up on and checked. After they clear customs, they simply become part of the postal system. That same postal system that automatically does a lot of the stuff that needs to be done because the parcels are paid at the counter.
Shipping something like Sedition Wars toys via Sea Freight from China is a vastly different beast. It's also not part of the postal system but instead relies on various international freight companies, filled shipping containers, room on specific ships that also need to cross the ocean in rather a lot more time than the planes who run our air freight, and on it goes.

It seems that for US backers, the wave 2 packages have started shipping already. UK will start shipping today.
Two days ago:
If you're in the UK yes, if you're in the USA then they have already started going out. If you've got Terrain Packs in your order those will ship together with the items when they arrive as mentioned in the previous update.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/sedition-wars-battle-for-alabaster/posts/585719#comments
Considering yesterday (Monday) was Labor Day in the US, we should be receiving it really soon if you didn't order the terrain pack.

I'm looking forward to finally unstarring this one from my KS account. I was a lucky one who pledged We've Got Movement (2xBiohazard) and managed to pull $140 for one of the sets on eBay, so I don't feel so bad about paying $50 for the game plus extra figures.
Maybe one of these days I'll get the urge to play it, but even considering how much I was able to recoup of the cost, I regret taking part in it.

If there is one thing I learned from all this, the material used is OK in certain circumstances.
When designing miniatures take into account shrinkage, in particular models that are bulky. This material is not to kind to them.
As much as I hate the clean up process, I can tolerate it for a handful of models for a skirmish game. Mercs or Infinity starter box for example.
It's not worth the time and effort for 50+ miniatures, one of the big reasons I have avoided the Wrath of Kings kickstarter. I ended up missing metal miniatures. However, metal models seems like it is slowly becoming a thing of the past with the costs of metal going up all the time. Game makers are going to have to evolve their craft some how, seems like "restic" will the new flavor for some time.
That all said, I did get a bath tub full of nice looking miniatures and a giant scar on my left thumb.
Sedition wars will always be a part of me.

Also, after the figures are out they could always give us the super-cool Quarantine Campaign they promised to backers, which would let us use all the additional figures that the Biohazard level gave us. Still waiting on that one
