The legs aren't too bad-I think they are supposed to represent the creature being bolted together and holding together by evil magic. I agree about the loincloth though-it's...odd.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Looking at these great sculpts, I can't help but wonder what an army is going to look like with units mixed between the different 'phases' of Mantics style. Seeing, say, the new Ogres, which have a very definitely different visual style, arrayed against some Undead, which are very generic undead, is almost going look like two different companies miniatures on the table.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but pretty much every fantasy army I have ever owned has looked like this.

Now showing various models from the previously adandoned projects!

Painting total as of 3429/2024: 56 plus a Deva King statue
Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

I'm liking the general look of the chariot, but would it kill them to get some resin dye so they can make them grey so the details can come out easier?

Still it's coming along nicely. Now just have to wait till next year for my big order.

Good point, Bolognesus. That's why you guys get to be the guinea pigs here and let the rest of us know if you can pose them in more than a few ways or not (in return for getting a fantastic deal and paying upfront)

I have to say the amateur photo of the golem makes it look way better!

A little bit more from the mantic boards:
As for the golem yes much better in real life, also had these in my paw at the openday, 3 different bodys, 3 sets of legs and 4 or 5 different heads, though they did say that they wernt sure about one of them (its actually the one in the above piccy).

So we might have to saw off and repose some arms if we get lots and lots of the but a unit of 6 or so will be sufficientky varied out of the box, it seems

To be fair, they could have that chariot super-imposed in front of Rosanne Barr's arse, dipped in treacle, all of it suspended above the Calcutta slums and it would still look better than Mantic's WIP shot.

384, to be exact. Once for every time someone has defended an indefensibly bad model by saying, "As for the golem yes much better in real life" or words to similar effect.

(I actually like the photo of the golem, so now I'm worried I won't like its more-evolved three dimensional appearance.)

You know something, though? My comments sound much funnier in real life.*

I don't know...a little birdie told me her arse was fairly impressive in real life. Like, clenched on the stairmaster impressive.

I really hate the pose on this. Why is his fist on the ground? Weird. Shame too since the concept art is so promising. Also, WTF is up with the nipples? Sheesh...

Awesome, awesome concepts. Why oh why can nobody seem to do good werewolves without clothing or armor?

I truly hope that once the figures are cast in the final material they come together a bit more.

On another note: Did we get all of the 12 Days previews? I feel like we are missing some.

The clenched fist is really the only awkward part, I can't see how that arm would work in any position. The concept artist essentially produced three identical heads so the sculptor had to change at least two of those up.
I actually don't find the concepts very exciting. We've seen wolf-men on steroids before. The fact that rackham had them wearing loincloths and carrying swords doesn't make these exciting alternatives.

The hand should have been digging the claws in or something for sure, but the whole pose is awkward. Unless he is lining up as a guard in (American) football or something. I don't think I have any issue with the head. Hard to tell 100% though.

I like the concepts a whole bunch. They take my favorite werewolves (The Howling; Dog Soldiers) and bulk them out. The wolf-men on steroids is the part I like. I realize not everyone does, however. The fact that Rackham gave them weapons and added clothing is what dimmed my interest in them, personally.

Also, again, I would like to see them with paint on or at least in their final material. The high contrast photos are pretty terrible for detail.

Yeah, while the WIP(?) sculpts are definitely nice, the concept art is so, so much nicer.

I'm just glad I picked up a ton of Wolfen before Rackham went down the plastic path and then died...

Wehrkind has a ton of wulfen, too. I think the troll and ogre are as good as their art, and maybe the golem, pending decent photos. Agree about their needing to just put a simple a wash on before snapping photos!
