I actually suspected that you started the FFG thread about that but I try not to "out" people's avatars on different boards when possible! Too bad.. they missed out on some nice terrain they could have used for flavor (even if it was just a ruined turret tower substituting in for an asteroid!).

Can't wait for wave two to release in February, I'm most excited about the Interceptors now.

We just had the Kessel Run Tournament at my LGS. Some of the things A-Wings and Intercerptors can do are pretty nasty. The Rebels now can do swarms with the A-wing. Heck the upgrade cards you get with the Falcon and Slave 1 are pretty good. The Falcon has much better stats than they Rookie YT-1300 pilot.

yeah,

I bought a Litko large space flight base for my Lambda.
For £5.50 you get the large base, a short pole and three fitting,
Annoyingly litko has branded the base... although this isn't a problem if you use a YT1300 or FireSpray card insert

The base is the same length as the official base but 2 mm short on the width.

The plastic insert was very tight fitting into the YT1300 card insert. the official base has ridges along the sides that the Litko base does not.

I only glued the Plastic fitting onto the bottom of the Lambda, the rest of the assembly was tight fitting and didn't require glue.
The biggest problem is that the pole is too short and the Lambdas wings almost touch the board.

Summary.
The base as pretty good.
It's a shame the base is branded and the pole too short.
A extra inch would have ment the Lamdba's cockpit would have been the same height as the YT1300s and FireSprays, and the Lambdas wings would be up off the board.

Panic Rating - 6/10
-1 for branding the base… not needed.
-3 for the short pole… a selection of lengths would have been ideal or one long pole that could be cut to length.

I think I might use the outter rim smuggler profile for the lambda along side a YT1300

The weaker profile makes sense!

yeah,
Sharazad and me played this fan made scenario.

I set up the Asteroids (ship wrecks) mostly behind the Falcon with one in front of each tie fighter zone.
Sharazad placed all the Tie Fighters facing inwards.

"Come on, buddy, We're not out of this yet!"

Skill 9 - Han shoots first and The Dark Curse is taken out early.
And then Millennium Falcon comes under intense fire loosing all it's shields and takes hits.
Chewbacca restores the hull to 7 damage and 1 shield.
Luke takes out Mauler Mithel putting a end to his damage streak.

"Got him! I got him!"
"Great kid! Don't get cocky."

Winged Gundark gets in close and and gets a couple of critical damage hits in before he dies.
leaving the final show down between the Falcon with 3 hull points and an academy pilot with 2 hull points.

The Academy pilot was outgunned and easily destroyed...

The Falcon Escapes the DeathStar.
"Not a bad bit of rescuing, huh? You know, sometimes I even amaze myself."

Clearly... She even admits it in her location! Nice board as always and interesting asteroids. I would have thought it would go the other way though. How did the point totals on each side compare?

Yeah,
Both squadrons are exactly 60pts, So it's a fair fight!?

At first 4 on 1 seemed unfair but;
The Falcon can take some hits.
Luke on guns meant the falcon got a second attempt to do damage each turn if the first attack failed.
The 360• turret on the falcon meant it almost always got to fire.

In the end the falcon had only 3 hull left so it was a fairly close game.

yeah,
I'm dig dig digging up this thread.

I've finally bought a regular star map.. so I can play away from the surface of the deathstar!
I found a new seller on facebook and requesed a red star map 4'x4' with a 3'x3' area marked out within with a thin red line.
It Arrived Today.

Photos! - I didn't have an opponent to play with so I just set up a mock game.

unrolled very easy and sat very flat straight away. one corner sort of stuck up a little.
I rolled it the other way for 10 sec and then it stayed flat.
you can see lines in the material that banner/poster is printed on but this doesn't detract from the look too much.
Also the room I was in was very bright when I took these photos.

yeah,
My first game played on my BloodWine 4x4' (inc 3x3') mat.

The mat is on a slightly uneven board, which created a few wrinkles but these were minor and nothing to do with the mat itself.

The BloodWine star design greatly improves the games immersion without being distracting.
The 3x3' play area is very easy to see and having the 6" edge around the outside to place templates, tokens and cards is a real boon.
There was no ship slippage during the game, a very satisfying surface to play on.

The photos arn't great as i was playing at overlords and the hall is a little dark.
My opponent was notprop, sadly we didn't get to finish the game.
but he had inflicted more damage than I had and takes the moral victory!

yeah,
I went to The Titans Wargames Club, in north London for the first time last night.
A lovely friendly group with many x-wing players!
Paired up with another Titans first timer Andrew and we played 2 games.
Andrew played Imperials so I played rebels.

1) Elite Imperials vs Rookie Rebels. -
A really tight game, but in the end it came down to a dog fight between a x-wing Rookie and Darth! ...Vader destroyed him quickly.
Imperial Victory.

2) 6 TIE Imperial swarm Vs Wedge with 3 ship back up
Wedge was an absolute monster during this game!
Rebel Win.

I brought my deathstar board and turrets and got some nice feedback on those.
We used the destroyed turrents as asteroids.

I took some photos during the first game.

At the end of the night we had a cool discussion about how to use the fully operational turrets during a game.

The Idea I liked was to make the turrets a card and make them available to imperials.

Pilot skill 0
Stationary ship
Agility 0
Attack 3 - blaster - Range 1-2 - 90˚ firing arc.
Hull ?

being pilot skill 0 is a great idea!
It doesn't need a dial, the Turrets can all be simply be rotated to whatever facing it wants before pilot skill1 is moved.
This way turrets to try and track rebel ships before the imperial player finds out where the rebel ships move.

How many hull points should it be given? I feel at least 4... maybe 6?
They don't move and can't dodge...

Points ?? I don’t know… 7pts?
3+ of these could cause a bit of trouble.

What do you think?

yeah,

Games of War recently launched their 3d asteroids.
They look very good and have sexy acrylic bases.

I thought those sexy bases would be great under my wrecks!

A quick PM and a few emails, a little bit of paypal and three sets popped through my letter box!
Huzzah!

Nice crisp cut shapes and sturdy 3mm pegs.
Lovely.

I dremmeled out 3mm holes in the underside of my shipwrecks.
I played about working out which wreck would look best on which asteroid shape.
A little bit of green stuff and super glue and they were ready for action.

The bottom of the pegs fits real tight in the base holes so I didn't need to glue that.
The peg and ship can be easily separated from the base if required? for overlapping?

What they look like on a gale force 9 space mat.

I also made some optional tokens to place under the bases.
When a ship is about to overlap I can lift the asteroid up and leave the token behind.

Some 1mm clear tokens would be even better!

Also!

I've been making my tokens sexy.

It's a fun game, quick to set up, simple to play and entry costs aren't huge. Shop around and £50 should get you 2 core sets which I'd argue is a must.

As for Empire or Rebels, I get both. For me, it's not really a game where you choose a faction. Build up your both fleets so you can field 4-6 ships per side (about 100pts which is standard) and when you play games, play as one faction first and then swap around. That way you're getting the most out of the game.

That's my approach anyway. YMMV

Oh and don't get drawn into stupid prices for individual ships just because they're currently not available. Be patient and they will pop up sooner or later.

Thanks for the battle reports . I watched my first games last night when I stopped by the flgs, so glad I got into the game, but I had left my stuff at home not expecting them to be playing tonight. I've got a few hours till work today so I think I'm going to break out the instant mold and have a try at your awesome destroyed ships. Also thanks for all the tips on your other posts with painting the edges of the rulers and storage solutions. I think I'm just going to use the rulers in the boxes now instead of buying the plastic ones, and I'm holding off on a storage box until I see what sort of army I will be fielding and where I need to expand too.
