Just checked the BFG section to make sure I didn't want to buy anything in case they did actually vanish. Prices scared me off though, $50 for a battleship? No thanks!

Big BFG ships are pricey, but as a whole, it's much cheaper game than for example 40k.

Yea, those prices are... yea. I spent a good while last night in the FW Epic/BFG sections trying to buy stuff I desired. However, every time I got to the shopping cart, saw the total and converted it to dollars, then looked at what I was actually getting... nnnnngh... There's just no way to justify those prices. Even sadder is how much Epic Tau stuff I have and how little more I actually need.

Incidentally, can anyone tell me how long the current GW regime has been in place? Much of the Forgeworld BFG is actually really cheap, it's FW shipping costs which kill ya....

If you try to add it to cart, you get a "No sufficient stock" message.

I wold say everyone should get all the files they want from the Specialist Games section, I wouldn't put it past GW to just drop those files, seeing as they won;t be needing them to sell any models anymore. I am heading over just to make sure I have all the BFG, Necro, and maybe Mordheim files available.

Does anyone know if the plastic sets, such as the Imperil cruisers, are on the chopping block?

I’ve downloaded all the Necromunda files. IF all the models are being pulled for the Specialist Games ranges, I don’t see a reason for GW to continue to have the files there. Man O War, Gorkamorka all went the same way. Once the decision was made, no more anything was on their web sites.

So I’ve plugged and bought a Cawdor and Escher Gang and additional blister models, as well as the Redeemer and Kal Jerico. This is on the chance that our gaming group is going to run a Necromunda Campaign later in the year. Failing that, they’ll all be worth more on Ebay………………..

Probably. The space marine scout and terminator packs for Epic are plastic (I believe), but have gone into NLA.

The scout and terminator for epic were metal. But I'd expect the plastic to eventually get the torch too. Basically anything you want I suggest grabbing.

This whole thing has made me determined to revisit my Epic and BFG stuff and improve as far as possible, given adding new forces now would be ebaytastic, no thanks.

I can see the business reasons for this of course, but it is still very sad to see models many of us have loved for 20 years or more disappearing. It would have been far, far better if GW had at least done a salute of some sort in WD, with a 6 month or so 'get them now or they're gone' type thing, give everyone a chance to save up a bit for anything they never got round to. Might have felt like GW still cared, a bit.

My SO had just gotten into BFG ships because of playing Rogue Trader and had been working out what Eldar she wanted. With the Aurora and Solaris now gone, and given how seldom they come up on Ebay, that's probably put paid to that idea, so a couple of hundred quid won't be going to GW for some fleets. Arse.

All tin alloy multi-part miniatures can be immersed in acetone to remove not only paint, this also liquefies cyanoacrylate glue, given enough time.

Just try to avoid getting acetone nail polish remover. I have a bunch of fragrant metal space marines now.

Got my set of BFG stuff this morning. Debating if I want to order enough for a proper fleet, or try my hand on casting the stuff (because screw OOP.)

I'm in the boat of possibly having someone local recast the additional ships from originals I have. The problem is getting a few of the originals which is my main goal. Most of the eldar stuff went away before I could and I have "masters" of the stuff that's still left already.

I totally grabbed all the Mordheim files. I have never played it, despite being there when it first came out. (but know how it runs, I have Necromunda and Gorkamorka, so i know those styles of game)

I would say it's by far the easiest Specialist game to cut GW completely out of the loop and still play, though. Especially with Mantic and Reaper.

Totally sucks about BFG, though. I have an Imperial, Ork and Necron fleet, and I always wanted to try my hand at a small Eldar fleet to go with my 40K corsair force. Ahh, too bad now, I guess.

I wouldn't mind trying to get a Gorkamorka league going at my FLGS. That game was a blast and one of my favorite specialty games and even without any support it is not that expensive to play. A box of boyz and a vehicle (that you could scratch build even) and you are set.

Have never played Mordheim, but it looks pretty interesting as well and is another game that can be played with some converstions to a regular box of GW troops or 3rd party bits. Heck, my Necromunda force was a mix of Catachan arms & weapons with Flagelants for the body and heads.

At least I got all the PDFs on my computer already, so that helps.

A Gorkamorka campaign would be totally cool, Especially with the pretty new Trukk models. The old version's transport rules/vehicle sizes really required you to use the weird little bases that came with the main game and it's blisters for best effect.

If you have friends, I can totally see each player getting their own vehicles, and then splitting up boxes of 40K Boyz, Grots, and the like between the players.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Man, I loved GorkaMorka. It and Mordheim were my first "serious" wargaming experiences, with the few years prior to that just being whatever Warhammer Fantasy units I could afford with my pocket money getting sloppily half-painted and going against a similarly rubbish force of my mate's on his living room carpet.

It's why the end of SG is so disappointing, I doubt I'd still be involved in the hobby at all if not for GorkaMorka, Mordheim, BFG, and Inquisitor.

I still get a periodical urge to build a scrapfort and start painting everything red MORKERS MORKERS MORKERS!
