Hey Cam
Have you tried a high grit sanding block?
That might give you a little texture without shredding the foam.

Camkierhi,

Just wondering how your roads sit compared to the rest of your buildings? As the roads are raised do they create any issues with your buildings or are the building raised high enough to compensate?

Sincerely,

CB

Not where I should be

Thanks guys,

@ WP, could try it, but don't think it is really necessary.
@ CB, Well yes if the buildings are put upto the road there is a problem that could be cured by adding a layer of foam under the buildings. But my aim would be a gap between the buildings and the road, and some inserts see below.

So here you go ...

Thank you for looking, and all C&C most welcome.

Brilliant Cam ,

I would have wasted resources in putting the mats under all the buildings, but your ramps are a great idea to circumvent that.

Really like the sandbag diorama piece, very realistic.

Thankfully I know I have a box of probably never to be used infinity stuff, but your painting it up has me looking twice every time I see some pop up on Miniaturemarket’s website. They are beautiful models, this newest one of yours proves it, but also so daunting to try. While their crisp paint jobs on their website are artwork in metal, I almost see it as an injustice since I have no way of getting close to that style with my skills. I like your more gritty take on them, which is causing that itch to dig some out. Maybe with my lull while waiting for more Bushido stuff to arrive

Always wanted a series of highways for a sci fi game to happen on, something like Fallout 3's ruined highways criss crossing the map, adding an extra level of verticality to the maps. Your roads look like great gaming terrain.

I am staggered by your productivity mate.

Not where I should be

Thanks guys.

@ Da Boss, certainly doable, I built these with that in mind, thinking I only have to make some supports and I could have this as a flyover easily. was always on the cards. I need to get my arse in gear, but if you want to PM me we can talk about a set of roads bud no worries.

@ Graven, funny I kind of had that in mind when I was building it, wanted a slightly futuristic feel without it being all super slick sporty nonsense. Going to have to go do some referencing and do one for the table.

OK so sat down yesterday and binged a bit of tv and to keep busy this happened....

It grew a bit more and I could not resist a quick "table" shot to see how it looks.

And started on some of the details I will need....

Each floor is removable, so hopefully playable. Got some details to work out yet and interior "scatter" details I am wondering about. I mean furniture etc. will get in the way a fair bit, but want to add some details.

I am using 3mm foamex for the structure with the larger pieces and the floors being 5mm foamex. Here is where I get mine.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WHITE-MATT-PVC-FOAMEX-FOAM-SHEETS-SIGN-DISPLAY-MOUNTING-FOAMBOARD-SIGNAGE-BOARD/222208369788?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=521042844329&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

£2.60 an A3 sheet I have used 2 sheets on this building, so materials for this so far are about £10, at most. Not that I ever really care about such things.

Thanks for looking and hope it helps folks. C&C always welcome.

I am looking forward to the cab then!
Looks great! I am particularly interested in the detailing. May I suggest (boldly) that you make a small external A/C unit, junction box, vents, mould and cast them? That way you can easily have identical exterior furniture. Should be no problem for a man of your copious talents

you know...you could make the odd pound or two on the sides via ebay by building whole table worth of terrain? i am currently viewing quite a lot of builders roaming the auctions...and you certainly have what it takes for selling quality!
the lil car is a nice addition...the roads....yep....very good...i would do some ruined ones for mixing...and of course a curve and some interjections/ crossroads (?)

the tall building (if not skyscraper) is an idea i´ve seen quite often and wanted to do too...but always shied away from....well...now i build medival/ fantasy any ways^^

I really like the statue from last page - the kind of thing that really makes a table pop, original art. The roads are amazing - and whatever effect you used on the paint does make it look worn and textured. The little bit of gravel and stuff along the edge of the road is really effective. Gotta remember that.

Very neat idea, your road can actually become cover for infantry in 40K.

Cheers,

I do really like the way the roads came out. Using the raised berm makes them stand out quite well from the usual flat pieces of resin or MDF.

Bravo!

never understood why someone wants to have stairways outside ...instead of in the building....? frosty steps all the way towards your appartment...? what do old folks do in the winter? order their can of sweetened mild via amazon?

but anyways....looks good and spot on cam!

also...just out of curiosity...why the elongated side walls, that look over the last level?

furniture and gubbinz look amazong! you are truly self reliant...and very inventive...i think Red made this stairway gimmick too earlier on but nevertheless!!!

Those big blank spaces on the top of the building sides are begging for billboards, Cam.

A detailed restroom...hmmm, an oddly satisfying challenge, eh?

The one thing about multi-storey buildings in Infinity is that only the first couple of levels get used. I would make sure the first 2 levels are accessible, and the rest can be more or less for show.

The external staircases are perfect for the game, BTW. There are plenty of buildings with staircases like that around me. But then I do not live in the Arctic like Vik.
