Gents, thank you very much, really appreciate those comments!

The Gang went home, and I got paid! And not only that, there's a second batch on queue, and even a downpayment on that!

That's what I have now to fiddle and play with: Deadzone Marauders, Rebs and Plague Starters. Over 35 figs to assemble and paint - and keep! - and maybe even try a game with sometime!

And bonus: Kickstarter only resin Plague big guy, rulebook, board, eight-sided dice, and on the side, a Russian-made multi-option sci-fi tank! Guess the Customer WAS satisfied after all!

As for the next commission lot, some more Delaque:

(A second heavy, a crew-to-heavy conversion, a sniper and an lop-sided crew).

Plus a few more, unassembled:

(Four other crew, one of them the second dudette model)

And a batch of tiny Hasslefree Grymns, to be made into another Gang:

The Delaque, to follow the same scheme as before. The armoured space halflings colours are still to be defined.

Guess this covers my painting "needs" well into the next year!

Thanks for dropping by!

@Gits: It's a big haul indeed! Unseen before hereabouts, just wondering where to start now .

@ckig: I really dig the big ugly fellow too! What's even better, Eldest Cub seems to do too: he sequestered it today, headed straight for the workbench, and started cutting it off the sprue, filing, sanding and dry-fitting it for posing!

(I had invited him to go with me to the Client's and check out his collection - glass cabinet and all, seems like a trip to Dakka-land! - so he already feels the lot that came back home with us was part his, just 'cause. He'd been reading the rulebook since the night before, and now, that! Seems he maybe has fallen for it . As usual, not because Dad says or does so, but because somebody else does , but who cares, he-was-sitting-at-the-bench-with-a-tool-in-his-hand!)

Sorry, couldn't help myself there

Will start putting things together, cleaning and getting ready to primer ASAP.

Cheers.

Good haul

The only downside to Eldest cub getting the itch is that now he'll start to look at your toys and wonder what he could do to them, rather than the other way round

Nice haul, mate!
The plague dude looks really cool! I never had a closer look at the deadzone range, but just checked out
their store and found a lot of cool stuff.
Are the Delaque guys made of metal? I always thougt the Heresy minis are made of resin...
But this is great

@MT: It's all part of the plan. I doubt I would be getting any hobby related gifts for Christmas. The Cub, on the other hand... that opens a whole new world of possible sources: grandparents, uncles... Even the Ms. could start looking at some otherwise odd purchases with different eyes if it becomes a father-son activity, instead of a father locking himself up in the shop kind of thing .

Actually, he likes the game - 40K so far, though I've been wondering about trying something smaller/shorter for easy of play -, hadn't got into the modelling aspect of it yet. Now, he is giving it a try, and seems to be enjoying it. And I with him. Win-win.

@Boba F: The big plague is a great sculpt, and the resin model, a very good cast. The plastic ones, on the other hand - only started on a few other plague ones do far - no that much. Heavy mold lines and some flash, not too easy to clean up (Ended up attacking them with a dremel-run soft wire brush, which actually worked out quite well), and gap-filling required for the few (arms only) separate pieces.

But they DO look great, and seem to be going to take paint well. We'll see about that soon enough!

The Heresy Delaque (Sci-Fi Gangs in their listing) are white metal. Not too experienced, but I'd say great sculpts and casts. Same goes for the Haslefree I've been preping today for painting: though really petite, they are very detailed and high quality casts too.

Nothing pic worthy yet, but hoping to change that!

Cheers.

Thinking about skipping Mini's Sunday Painting and trying to finish this up instead, just in case...

says it fairly well. Although, if you want smaller/shorter, say something that is 10-15 minis on the table, and playable in under two hours, and in a ruleset escrito en su idioma, I can recommend a game. Rules are free You know the game. Just proxy some minis. Here's the link http://www.infinitythegame.com/archive.php You may want the markers too. They are on the page as well. You 'll have to build more terrain though. Doubting that would be a problem

Fencing is looking nice. No skipping Paint the Mini Sunday. If you must, split the day.

@Gits: Power pack is a separate piece (Its an "oversized" 2AA batteries holder, fits the two required - though not included, - batteries themselves plus the electronics for voltage inverter and lights control with three pre-programmed positions: permanently on, and two different flashing settings).

To keep the pieces manageable (long wires wind up being a pain) I added, after a short cable strip, a connector to separate them from the power pack and only attach them when needed:

(Might need some better concealment )

And WIP housing for the battery holder and controller:

(Quite big, as proven by Guardsman Ubiquitous. Can be opened up to insert and remove power pack. Switch is accessible from beneath)

@Red H: Already downloaded, will get on it ASAP. Terrain, umm. I can do that, I guess

I'll definitively try to throw some paint at something before the day's done!

Thank you for stopping by.

Cool. Bear in mind that it is a new ruleset, just released last week... and soon to be updated too. Apparently the Spanish PDF version was missing a key section about command tokens.

For the life of me, I cannot identify the source of the power center. I see that it is recyclable though.

Ah, the generator for the power fence, good to keep those pesky vermin out of the city!

@Red H: Nothing too fancy: light bulb blister and a PVC piping coupling. Based on a MDF cut-off, the bits on the sides and rear are screwed from beneath to allow opening for moving the pack in and out. It is recyclable, and I did recycle it, somehow ! Too thin to sand down, I guess cammo netting will have to camo the rescue once more.

@Shaso: Speaking of which...

Painting the Mini Sunday didn't really come along too well, had to settle with some rebumping and fixing up. Since I had taken this guy out for the fence's pics, and hadn't let me down, I tried to give it some some time under the brush, poor thing hadn't got past the base stage...

So, not much, but for something totally different as well, a painted bug:

(Base will get some more care next round, and it could use some tidying up, but...)

Comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Thanks for stopping by.

Yes, red is a good color for a bug, or anything else for that matter.

Now I must ask about the primer used. I have such bad luck trying to paint that clamshell stuff. I usually cut the flat stuff up for window panes.

@ayoku: TVM!

@Red H: Red and black, with green spot colour. Might not be too original, but looks good!

In this case, Rust Oleum Sandable Primer (Automotive Line), catches up fine even in though surfaces/materials. I've also done well with their Plastic Primer (Specialty Line), though it is thicker than the other ones (Sandable and UltraCover) and I wouldn't use it when in danger of covering up fine detail.

Hope it helps, one is glad to be of service.

It helps. Gracias. Rattle can primers have their uses. But with sub-freezing temperatures right now, I'll just have to wait. I won't use those things indoors, ever. I have some Krylon primer somewhere. It is for plastic outdoor furniture. Hmmm, maybe I'll try that in the spring. Some of those clamshell packages have really intriguing shapes.

That Krylon that actually bonds at the microscopic level to the plastic it hits? that will be solid foundation for painting on!

Good work on the gang. As with any commission work, a happy customer is a good sign you are doing it right, a repeat customer is a very good sign.

Good job on the fences. You may want (time permitting) to do something about the tiny gap between the two fences, as that huge monster might be able to squeeze through... Good job on him too.

Have a good Christmas.
