a trap of some sort? looks like an axe blade coming out of the wall. Ideas?
We will get four axe traps in all pedges. Whether each trap is unique I cannot say.
I think the 3d model traps are really good, I made some for RPG's and wanted to make some for descent. Having traps to place in the tabletop is great, for RG purposes you can claim whsat thry do and define their area of effect. Still I think it would be an icon of fear and caution for the PC's knowing the trap is there.
Miiniatures are placeholders, so the trap doesn't have to literally do what it shows here. It sweeps an axe, but how far? I think these traps will become an excellent focus for the PC's fears. Traps in my opinion are best when you do see them. Having hidden traps that kill the party rogue because he failed to detect them is in a way unfair you cant be alert all the time, and its just a dice roll. Having a corridor with an obvious trap, and a need to travel the route, or with an unfavourable choice of routes adds tension. Being able to place an icon of that tension on the tabletop will only help.
Am becoming increasingly glad that I pledged for this, just fingers crossed it continues to on course!
Definitely. I doubled my order in October. I alway was impressed by Gamezone's quality, but it kept getting better and better.
What really sold me was the furniture, it looks so damn good. I could say that I paid up for the wall cabinets.

more scenery and the female dwarf. Not sure why, but I don't really like the dwarf. The design on the shield maybe? or it might be the pose. the detail looks really good though.
yeah, its nice to see something different. I just feel like all the detail on the front of the mini will be completely lost behind the shield. Ooh well, I normally GM hero quest anyway, and its not like there will be a shortage of other hero characters :p
the rat reminds me of the ones you get in the original game, its a silly little thing, but I really love it.
Having some ratties in dungeons is a plus. I can't envision rattie just sitting there while a battle is going on in the room though, a furtive rat atop a tall cabinet or peering out from underneath is to me more the rattie thing. This critter is rather sedate and exposed.
Also you can't use this barrel on its side.
Still its characterful, so if the rest are all different thats ok with me to have one barrel claimed by a rat as his seat.

Nice change with a pose as well for a wizard, usually you just get a guy stood there with his staff on the ground next to him.
I like the change of pose also but for a boardgame the rested staff or spear is better. Some of the miniatures might have trouble fitting on the square grid if weapons and limbs stick out to the sides too much. Though the board squares are bigger than usual, and that might be why.

Looks alive to me; Ears pricked up, natural pose, not collapsed.
Definitely a live rattie, and a bloody big one too.

I lik them, they look worn and part caved in ruined barrels, most barrel miniatures are new and intact.
Great dungeon decor.

I used the old Heroquest weapons rack many times, it ended up with a standard purpose. I would put it in a barracks room and space thre other minaitures arounbd the room.
If the adventurer surprised guards they could cut them off from thier own weapons. Players quickly realised not to assume that the guards didnt also have weapons elsewhere and asked the right questions. So rushing a room to get between the guards and the weapon rack doesn't always work.
The Heroquest weapon rack was very useful but very poorly scaled. I look forwards to this one.

And the finished assassin prisoner. As good as it looks, I think its going to be weird not having a captured and free version like they're doing with the knight.

A mummy? It looks like a skellie in a dress and bonnet, someones mother perhaps.

Lower detail quality, probably a more knock resistent plastic resin. If so a good design compromise we dont need super detailed bases,we do need sturdy bases for play.

Anyone know enough Spanish to translate the captions of the square base/rockfall piece.
AFAIK the pieces are on clear acrylic because they aren't based yet, if the above piece is a rockfall it doesn't look like blocking terrain.
Also the demo pieces shown here are on thick square resin bases:
I would like a choice of clear resin though, it would be rather cool, and think the bases shown are too deep personally.
