2 weeks to go!? I've got to dust off my wall and get some finish onto it.
I'm loving all the amazing ideas that people are displaying! Those illuminated wires are the bomb, I can think of loads of applications for them. Are they expensive?
cheers.

Tek - not a bad idea, I'll look at that tomorrow. Off the top of my head you're the only finished entrant so far

Thinking it was wise to not actively sign up, my interest as wavered back and forth and I'm just now getting finished making holiday gifts.

@mekugi: Not that steep. A basic kit - 3/5 meters of the thin 2.3 mm wires with a battery operated inverter (requiered), batteries not included - seems to be going out for less than 10 USD from online retailers (US and UK based are the first that pop out for my in a Google search, but surely available in AUS too.

You can try searching for EL or electroluminescent wire, neon wire, and/or neon or EL strips. I also found (only on-line, haven't actually tried it) an even thinner one, labeled "Angel Hair", 1.2mm diameter.

As said before, can be cut to size and reconnected (soldered ideally, but not indispensable) without much issue.

@Monkeytroll - thanks.
I see 35 people who join this challenge.
A few start terrains and don't remember anyone who finish it.

Work in progress. Fence took a backfield when I got super creative and started making buildings. This is just the beginning, details to start going on once I get the ball rolling again.

It's more or less set to fit in with the terrain I'm making. Urban-esque but not too big. It's about 3" high so it's not too big not to play on.

Alas, still working on my cut accuracy. I find cutting straight lines into foam core not the easiest thing on earth.

You know kids... I may toss my hat into this one just for the fun of it. How much time do I have?

Youi have till midnight GMT, "8th December, just over ten days....

For you trans-atlantic cousins that translates to:

Eastern-EST: 7pm on December 28th
Central-CST: 6pm on December 28th
Mountain-MST: 5pm on December 28th
Pacific-PST: 4pm on December 28th

And for the trans-pacific colonials that's:

CST: 9.30am on 29th
CDT: 10.30 on 29th

I know right? I started in something today but I dunno if I'll find the drive to complete by the deadline. How long are we talking again 4 6-inch pieces?

A fellow Dakka-folk made a spiffy template for the walls below, I may put together some of those... But what can I add to finish them? I may try to texture them like I'm planning to do for my desert DZ board buildings... not sure.

I'm definitely in!

I was thinking about my Tyranid Kill teams this afternoon and I got an idea for some alien walls.

I should be able to start on Sunday. I'll take some WIP shots then.

I'm very excited!

Forgive me now! Tomorrow I may no longer feel guilty...

@ Andy_T: Very nice

I have finished the build phase and am now starting to paint them. Let me know what you think!

The wall segments, total length is bout 12" or 30.5 cm somewhere around there.

and the finished ends:

just spraying them now. I hope these are acceptable?!?

not bad for less than a week.

Let me get some paint on my test piece, if the process proves sound I'll throw my hat in, but if I have to figure out another way to do it, there won't be time

Not where I should be

True there is some amazing work on display here, but it's the taking part that counts bud. Thats the only reason I have entered each time. Sharing ideas and trying new things, thats what we are all about.

So lets have at it people, forget the visiting and last minute shopping you got some terrain to build and paint!

Oh and I guess, best of luck to you all, hope you all finish and going by what I have seen Monkey you are in for a really bad time judging this.

Gentlemen, that is exactly the right spirit The League comps are all about having fun, trying and seeing new things, sharing ideas, and getting some stuff actually finished.

And Cam, yep, it's going to be interesting - but then, in the previous 11 I can't recall one where the judging was ever not going to be challenging

Erm, I'm still alive? And in the home stretch, see...

Lots of painting to do. But a whole week ( minus, Hmm,, looks like 4 days) so 3 days, to do it.

Piece of cake.

Maybe even some nice tile work, or geometric patterns. Painted on of course. Printed stuff is for interior work.

All sorts of nice ideas. Lovely work Gents. And yes, the contests are about enjoying the hobby for its own sake, and sharing the enjoyment.
