Really fun update, nice to see how much variety there is on your shelf. I like that the CAV colors match up with the ice crystals pretty well!

Viterbi, I feel I am missing a reference there. He won't be solving crimes, at this point in his life he is really looking to avoid excitement. That probably won't work out.

Quite possible I misunderstood your comment about the Zoat getting a feline companion. In my mind that sounded like the premise for a Lethal Weapon style buddy cop movie

And nice group shot! Love the ice dancers (fittingly we watched Frozen this weekend with the little ones, so seeing your minis I now have Let it go on repeat in my head )

The CAV stuff looks great. Always glad to see giant stomp robots in wild colors. It always seems strange to me to see them painted in camouflage .

Thanks, guys!

That sounds pretty funny, Viterbi. Maybe I can make that work.
Can a Gyrinx talk?

Stop enticing me with CAV, that really is a cool Mech but the base would annoy the hell out of me...could they not have just provided a bigger base or are they hamstrung by rules? Anyway...still adore that colour scheme and it really works on these minis.

The Malifaux Ice crew looks great individually and even better altogether...work to be truly proud of YWS. I too think you will smash through the 100 barrier this year.

Thank you!

ListenToMeWarriors,
I don't know how much the base plays into the rules yet. But, yes. That base for the mech is a little silly.

Quick WiP. Zoat is all basecoated. New quad mech and another 3 bases of infantry. And the Gyrinx has been clipped.

Thanks again for the comments and compliments! And thanks for looking!

I like how there was “no holding back anymore” on the group shot of the malifaux. Sorry, it was the first thing that popped in to my head!

The green in the CAV minis really is a great colour, they look awesome, surely there must be a group shot on the way here too?

Some of them, the dancers, and especially Frost, are a little underdressed, but...the cold never bothered them anyway.

Thanks, gobert! Yes, a group shot of the CAV will happen soon. After what is pictured above, there is only one more mech and six infantry bases. At the current rate of production it should only be a week or two before they are all done.

My goodness. Progress has been happening, but a little slow. Smoke and life had me holding off on varnishing, but now that's done and just bases to go on what is finished. Pics hopefully this weekend. For now just a quick pic of the Zoat, who I swear I have painted more, his Gyrinx and the final CAV.

Thanks for looking!

Zoaty’s looking great, his skin has a lovely complexion and the mottled armour looks cool. This latest mech looks a bit like a baby Warhound, he’ll look amazing all in Green

While I’m not positive on where he lives, the forest fires on the west coast of the USA are creating so much smoke in the air that it could be causing problems just about anywhere. The smoke/ash has already reached the east coast of the United States. It’s a huge issue.

Theo is correct. I live in western Nevada. We are thankfully fire free, but have been under the smoke cloak for some time. Downright horrid. Had not wanted to spray outdoors with all the particulates floating around. Really, we had ash falling here. Eerie.

zahnib, it is mostly drybrushing. The colors were laid out earlier, but will include here:

 youwashock wrote:

The purple started out with a weird greyish purple sample I received from Reaper. Then it is drybrushed up with Rakarth Flesh, the next tone up from that (some bone/unbleached titanium color) and Pallid Wych Flesh. Then a thinned wash of Druuchi Violet. After I get all the black areas blocked in I will go back and push the value scale a bit with some highlights on the face and chest and some Contrast purples in the recesses. The belly is just Rakarth washed with Druuchi right now. I will hit some highpoints in visible areas for more contrast. Not Contrast. That's different. In the end he will be a modern version of J. Grimlock, the previous purple Zoat, just older and without his herd.

I did go back in and lay some Magos Purple along the armor and around the implants, and came back through with highlights on the chest, face and belly with Pallid Wych Flesh. The underside was highlighted with the same, but you will have to look harder for that. It is not a highly visible area. Finished up the hooves. Also hit the eye sockets with a diluted Shyish Purple. Still a way to go, but it is taking a satisfactory course so far.

Finished a few things and got pictures taken. First up, CAV. Power armored infantry and a Haunt quad-mech. Just some infantry and the Butcher seen in the last WiP and these guys are done. Maybe then I can try the game.

Yes, indeed. They look like trash in a close-up. Couple group shots with the rest of what's done.

Pics not so great today... Eh, you get the gist.

Wrapped up the Deathwing squad.

All together.

Zoat, Gyrinx, CAV, Judiciar underway. Still waiting on a couple deliveries for Project: Exodus. Not a major concern until the Zoat is done, anyway. Plenty to do. Sorry about the bum pics. Need to have a talk with my phone. Thanks for looking!

The CAV and Deathwing look Mega! Great job as usual! I think you’ve now caught up on my year to date total too.

These fires seem pretty insane, what with COVID-19 and Ash falling from the sky’s its all a bit end times. @Theo, that’s nuts that the smoke is making its presence felt on the East Coast. Hoping it gets cooler is a reassuring policy.

I always thought the CAV designs were a bit ropey, but your paintjob is really selling them. I think I prefer your Deathwing colours to the official scheme, too. Nice work!

The more I see of CAV the more I like it...stop...tempting...me...YWS! Even the name of a Haunt Quad Mech is cool. I guess I have Adeptus Titanicus to scratch that itch.

Deathwing look great altogether as well, don't know why really but the flamer stands out as my favourite.

Very excited to see what Exodus brings, this is going to be great.

Thank you all, very much!

CAV models are all done. Been a bit slow, lately. Wasn't feeling well, then time was short, but all the CAV stuff I own is painted. First, the new guys.

And the Butcher on his own.

He is a cool mech, but already a bit of a departure from the other Malvernis mechs I like. Sort of "normal" looking. Less alien. And, as I am a fan of personal touches, the infantry base up front is a group of repurposed Clan Battle Armor from Mechwarrior. Just about the right size, and my favorite infantry from that game.

Bit of disclosure: I hate painting infantry at this scale. I owned a lot of Epic stuff back in the day. Loved 2nd edition. Painted next to none of it. Just couldn't. Toughed my way through a Warmaster Chaos army. Happy enough with it and it looked cool on the table, as a lot of things in the smaller scale do, but I couldn't bring myself to paint the Undead and eventually sold off just about all of it. This last batch of infantry was a chore, but they're done, and stomp bots mean they will stick around even if I never play the game.

Couple of shots of the group all together.

Looks kinda neat, eh, ListenToMeWarriors?

So, that, plus the arrival of the last of the raw material this week, means that it is time for Project:Exodus to begin in earnest. Gyrinx is painted, awaiting basing and varnish. Zoat is neaaarlyy done. Some details to go. Excited to get down to business. And hopefully not crash and burn.

As always, thanks for looking!
