Yeap FW I just have tons of doubts. I don't even think it will be out this year. Unless Fires o Cyraxus is our index book.

Yeah, really don't need the FAQ being longer than the book…
On a slightly different topic, does anyone else hope they stick to 7th edition rules for 30k?
Or at least 7.5 edition, with mostly the same points, stats and rules, but a few tweaks in gameplay like chargers getting an initiative bonus, unwieldy becoming a negative hit mod, that sort of thing?

Not really tbh.
I think that the horus heresy rules made the best of a crappy ruleset.
I think they'd do much better with the current one.
Just thinking of moritats popping pistols into melee gets me all sorts of excited.

|
Fw put much of it's stuff on hold because they knew 8th was launching....
On their site -
Rules for the extensive Warhammer 40,000 Forge World range will be made available in a series of Index books. The first two of these will be available alongside the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, available to pre-order on the 3rd of June. These first two books will cover the forces of the Adeptus Astartes and their traitorous kin.
Rules for all the rest of the Warhammer 40,000 Forge World range, including the myriad xenos races of the galaxy and the massed forces of the Astra Militarum and their accompanying Imperial Agents, will all be appearing in additional Index books that set to be released before the end of June. Every single Warhammer 40,000 miniature that Forge World make today will be covered, as well as a few classic ones. Also included are rules for a few characters who do not yet have a model, such as some heroes and villains of the Badab Wars. On top of that, several units will be made available to factions that never previously had access to them, and on Wednesday this week, we’ll be taking a look at one of them when we see our first Forge World datasheet for the new edition.
For you Horus Heresy fans out there, Forge World will be announcing the future of that game system at Warhammer Fest this weekend. We’ll bring you the news from the event as it breaks, right here on the Warhammer Community site.

Have to wonder what 'classic ones' won't be covered. There are quite a few bits and pieces they don't make anymore.

So do you think Mechanicum will still wait for Fires of Cyraxus to get 40k rules, or will they be in one's of these indexes?
I'm genuinely asking that, btw, in case it isn't clear... maybe someone could ask at Warhammer Fest this weekend?
Also looking forward to hearing what they're doing with 30K then

On May 10th, 2016, Fires Of Cyraxus was announced, for "Summer 2016", at WarhammerFest.
It has been 379 days since this occured, according to my timer.

Make it so, whoever actually does this. Please do ask about Fires, repeatedly, until FW caves and gives an exact date, table of contents, and handwritten apology letter.

Fires is going to be #Full8th, so I don't think we'll see any rules for that soon.
My biggest concern is if Prospero will get a reprint in the current rules...

I know but allegedly they are working on new models for that book for tha Tau. Why wait an entire year to release them or more? Just drop them without rules. More importantly we know a large Tau update is coming next year from Lady Atia. I would like to actually be able to buy all the cool models which is easier if they spread them out instead of just both GW and FW throwing everything out in one narrow window where I can't afford to get everything. Add in money being diverted to Kharadron Overlords army as well and my budget for Tau stuff is thin.
Kind of annoying really.

Yeah, this. Basic cover adds +1 Sv and in certain circumstances that can go up, never mind psychic buffs and whatnot.

But the save can't be improved beyond a 2+ anyhow, unless they allow a 1+ (unlikely). I could just not be understanding the timing of when things are applied. If you get the cover mod after the AP is calculated, sure, because it would drop you from 2+ to nothing and you get a 6+ because the cover bump. However, if it does not modify at that step, you get your modified 2+ armor save with cover, which is still a 2+, which goes away with this gun.
It was an Ignore Cover AP2 gun originally though, but this seems a radical change of the weapon overall.

I don't think any "timing" is required; simply add up all the modifiers - positive from cover, negative from AP, and apply the final result to the save. +2 then - 5 is the same as -5 then +2, since you don't need to cap the save at 2+ until the end of the calculation.

Yes, I know about those. My point was that none of them are announcements on their website or their newsletter to all and sundry saying "this book will be available on this date". The statement about the 8th edition Index books is a more concrete statement.
