Eldar Vampire Hunter wrote: Really sucks that they're not planning to port the Custodes and Sisters of Silence stuff from 30k over - no fluff reason it shouldn't still be around (that I know of) and the models are awesome, but I don't want to play Horus Heresy :(
Try taking a look at how many custodes and SoS models there, or units in Inferno, and then realise that almost none of them have rules for 40K.
His statement was he can't play custodes in 40k. It's not true. That is all.
No, his statement was that they're not porting over the 30K stuff.
Just getting into semantics now. Let's move on before this gets ugly. Back onto topic: Does anyone know if Custodes are included in the new SM codex yet?

Not quite the same thing, though, brah. Space Marines have had Rhinos, and models for them for almost 30 years, while SoS/Custodes have never had models until last year. and have never had grav-rhino models, and that fluff isn't nearly as old or widespread. So, pretty bad comparison overall.

Only because you draw an artificial distinction between fluff & art, and models. As they had existed, for as long as they had existed in the modern form, the two things were synonymous, and I don't see why someone's appreciation for them in that format is somehow devalued by models not previously existing. A fair few folk were very much anticipating the point when FW got around to doing Custodes & SoS models exactly because they appeared to be being so faithful to the art & fluff that had come before in most cases, and so there was a reasonable expectation the same would be true for those factions.
Actually come to think of it, I recall a fair few Legion players being pissy about the Dildobikes when they came out since they didn't really resemble either the old RT jetbike models or the artwork of jetbikes from the HH artbooks - was their regret that the established version wasn't the basis for the models also unjustified?

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

They look like they're on 60mm (or at least bigger than 40mm.. do 50mm bases exist?) bases; if so then they're upscaled from normal terminators.

I believe that the DW:OK uhh, big genestealer guy was on a 50mm. Either way, I haven't seen a 40mm base with that injection point in the middle, so would tend to agree that it's probably not that.

Thanks for the confirmation! I suppose that's what they're on as it looked a bit off from 60mm visually in the proportions hence my question. I wasn't aware of the crisis suit change.

Flesh Hounds of Khorne (optional)
possibly the Tech-Priest Dominus although mine came with a 40mm

Not loving whoever is doing these paintjobs :-( kinda ruins the model a bit for me, too chalky for a show piece model to attract you in to buy one. not that it's a bad paint job by any means, I just expect FW to be the upper echelon of models and inspiration. I mean I don't have anything I did on the site so I can't really talk......

They better be! Custodes are size wise supposed to be to marines what marines are to normal humans so the terminators should be notably bulkier than marine terminators.
And like the new TS character's head. Too bad we don't have TS force so not much point getting that model.

That thousands son character is pretty bad, weird face and details. And the cape is pretty...well bad (go look at the 360 spin). FWs sculpts overall have gotten worse over time (custodes being an exception) at least in terms of these character kits. I wonder if the loss of edgar skomorowski has something to do with it...

Honestly, the sculpts aren't half as bad as they look with these wonky paintjobs.
Amon is getting a ton of hate here, which I can't understand. I love that model, everything about it is awesome. Granted, its details are a little crowded, but that seems fitting seeing as he is a scholar.

I chalk alot of it up to the paint job, I think the unfinished models looks nice.
