That's a cop-out.
You really think allowing cultists access to Lasguns is going to create a massive balance situation? Letting Neophytes take Bolters? Guardsmen with Autoguns? Or any other simple weapon options?

Either play Deathwatch, or you could count-as the shotgun as a bolter.

Those cultist autoguns? Nope, lasguns now. Autogun stats, lasgun aesthetic.
Those bolters wielded by those Neophytes? Nah, autogun stats, because they're in poor condition.
Those autoguns being held by guardsmen? Nah, lasgun stats, because they're practically the same.
I haven't got a problem with GW giving out increased customisation, but at the same time, you can easily use count as. I'm not horrifically bothered either way.

That sort of counts as is fine when it's only a single weapon (although even there, some players will not like it) but it gets confusing very quickly when it's more widespread. It's ultimately easier for everyone involved if that Guardsman can just take an autogun, rather than having to pretend it's a lasgun.

Looks like I will be picking up one box each of the Easy-to-Build Intercessors and Reivers. Should be a nice start to go with some Tactical Marines. I pretty much wanted those anyway, this just gave me a good excuse.

Well, so far, Genestealer Cults have the most listed with five, with Ad Mech and Space Marines having four. So almost like it has no relation to popularity. Though Space Marines could maybe add Apothecaries. There isn't a need for Assault Marines or Devastators since those will likely be covered by the Tactical Marine through loadout.

I somehow misremembered the GSC total as also being four, and just assumed that was going to be the number of units previewed for everyone. Oops.
Wonder who's going to have six, then.

Breachers are Fire Warriors with a different weapon. My guess would be the ACTUAL poster boys of this edition, Imperial Guard.

Guardsmen, Conscripts, Ogryn... probably not Ratlings since they're metal. Seems unlikely to me.
Oh, maybe Necrons? Warriors, Scarabs, Immortals, Deathmarks, Lychguard, and Flayed Ones would do it. Flayed Ones are resin but could slip in under the "they make too much sense not to include" clause like Eldar Rangers.

Still, that might be stretching a bit for 6.

I still suspect these faction focuses aren't shoeing all of the units available. Space Marines, I'm willing to bet have options in the equipment to make different types, like Devastators, Assault Marines, and Apothecaries.

The fact that we're having this conversation is one of the things that peaked my interest on this new game set. I'm seeing a throwback to the old days of the OG 40K, where Priestly and company threw out the net and let you play what you wanted, and scratch build when needed.
As to Balance- THAT is not an issue, so what if it's not balanced? You get to play The Alamo style fights, or have to live by whatever you have on your person- Just like any good skirmish game. What struck me the most was - Rogue Trader. With that or a couple of those boxed sets, a couple added squads, and a Knight, YOU have options.
I am going to be really all over this like white on rice.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Kill Team has traditionally restricted the use of certain units (like ones with 2+ armor, or more than X amount of wounds). Can you imagine having to try and kill a regular terminator, let alone something like a GK Paladin or an assault terminator with a thunder hammer and storm shield, with only one guardsman at a time? It’d be virtually impossible to do without the weight of fire behind them that they normally pack. By disallowing some units, it helps normalize things a bit more.
That said, I like terminators, too.

Thank you very much for that. 10 sided dice? Nice. So are we going to need multiple 10 sided dice now? It's so much easier to buy 6 sided dice in bulk lol. Hopefully the 2 is enough.

Here's hoping it's eldar:
guardian (if we have to)
dire avengers
rangers
howling banshees
fire dragon
striking scorpion
and that's not getting any of the following:
warlock
swooping hawks
warp spiders
wraithguard/blade
dark reaper
The problem with the eldar is that their "weapon choice" is often "unit choice". Whereas marines have a variety of weapons they take, eldar need to take a different unit choice.
I'm still hoping for a good selection of aspects to choose from (unlike with SW:A), even if it's a hard cap on each one (ie, only one or two from any given aspect).

I imagine the factions that get six will probably be Nids (Xttz's list looks right to me, though I think we will see Rippers and Gargoyles and not Lictors - even though that would be too cool), Guard and Orks.
Guard: Guardsman, Vet, Scion, Ogryn, Conscript, and Ratling.
Orks: Boyz, Burnas, Lootas, Kommandos, Gretchin, Nobs
Eldar could manage with Guardians, Dire Avengers, Wraithguard, Rangers, and a few flavors of Aspects.
Tau are also a possibility.
