Forgot about the strength 9 nastiness of the mining laser.
In other news the individual Moon base Klasius boards (the gaming surface is made up of 4 boards) are ideal for kill team being just a few cm bigger than the board included in the Kill Team starter set so half the total board would be great for a four team showdown.

Played two games. Grey Knights versus CSM that was extremely close, and then Grey Knights versus Death Guard nd I got crushed. Death Guard are extremely resilient and they can take a large number of models. I had 5 models in my team, and I am definitely gonna change them around a bit. Grey Knights are nice with their storm bolters, and the incinerator is extremely good. I'm excited to try my harlequin kill team and my eldar kill team. I feel rangers will be really good.
Edit- Guardsmen have a really neat trick they can do, is take a special weapon guardsmen with a sniper rifle, and the demolition specialism. You deal mortal wounds on 5-6 against enemies in cover. With a CP you can deal MWs on 4-6 against enemies in cover. This is in addition to regular damage. Couple that with a comms guardsmen that gives him +1 to hit to counter cover penalties and that's a pretty effective camper killer.
Edit again - space marine scouts can also do this. Probably more I haven't seen yet.

My opponent didn't max them but they had 6-7 I think. And they had to be killed before the plague marines because they were deployed in a way that the pox walkers provided cover for the marines. Toughness 5 was also really hard for me to deal with.

I'm itching to have a go at someone with a Scion Gunner with a volleygun and the heavy specialisation. Plasma sniper is also a no-brainer, but other other than that, both a medic and comms specialist are tempting choices for the more global buffs they give.

2+ BS Rerolling 1s with a Comms specialist, even after moving, seems like good fun.

I'm gonna have to playtest the 8 plasma Guard list and see if it's actually any good...
I have a feeling that fast teams will lock it in combat and make the plasma worthless, or the abundance of -to hit modifiers will make it completely ineffective.

The negative modifiers are my concern. If you're further than 12, enemy is obscured, and god forbid smoke in the air, you're looking at 6+ BS Plasma on Guardsmen. That's a big no thanks from me.

Probably why you're better off with Scions, at least on turn one massive chances are that you'll have -2 to hit, with Scion you'll at least get twice the hits.

Contrary point, with 3-4 Guardsmen for the price of a Scion, you'd likely have scored more total hits over time, as well.

Depends on the loadout.
A naked Scion Gunner is 10pts, a Guardsman Gunner is 5pts.
A Scion w/ Hot Shot Volley is 13, 3 normal Guardsmen is 15.
So, yes, it's closer to 2:1, but you get my meaning.

I ran a scion with a volley gun and no specialization. It did okay. Plasma sniper scion was largely ineffective.
The real MVP was a plain lasgun guardsman. Skirmish games are nuts.
Also being able to charge without LOS thus preventing overwatch is kind of BS. It was a lot of the reason my gunners did so poorly. Wyches that had no LOS moving stupid fast.

Fortis Killteam rules allow Deathwatch to do the same thing with Primaris as Tyranids can lend genestealers to GSC.

Just like genestealers running purestrains, DW can run Reviers and Intercessors. However they pay exorbitant prices for the stupid bolt pistols they have, making everything but the pistol/knife reivers kind of ass.
And even then...you can either have a pistol/knife reiver or a vet with a power sword/combi-melta.

Look under the Fortis kill team entry in the Deathwatch rules. It allows you to add Reivers and Intercessors to Deathwatch lists. It doesn't specify whether that refers to the model or unit entry but they answered my question on facebook to say its the unit entry (so you can add Intercessor and Reiver Gunners and Sergeants to Deathwatch). I've submitted it as well to the FAQ email address above.

Should have scrolled down before answering... was ninja'd. In any case I was a bit surprised that they charged two points for the pistols as well for deathwatch but then I realized you could fire them in the shooting phase even while in close combat (unless I read that wrong). Being able to blast your base to base (or 1") opponent in the face with a str 4 ap -3 shot before he swings on subsequent rounds seems like it should cost something extra (although I have yet to play so take it with ).

As has been covered by others above, if you read the entry for Fortis Kill teams you're allowed to take them as long as you pay the Deathwatch Prices for the Boltcarbine and/ or Heavy Bolt Pistol and Combat Knife.

I don't have my copy of Kill Team yet, but does the core set also function as a Killzone Sector Imperialis or is that something that could still appear as its own product? I'm thinking about maybe getting a second core set, but might hold off if I'd have to get a killzone later to get SI tactics and environment tables.

Well, yeah. But it's a lot less of an issue with 40k's terrain density.
It's just jarring after playing so much Infinity where you can react at any point in the attacker's movement.
