There are currently only two Genestealer Aberrant models, both of which come in the Deathwatch: Overkill boxed game.

GW will soon be releasing a full multi-part kit for them.

Pretty low chance, actually, once all the boxes are out. I can see why they banned them for now (because only 2 teams have these, not only giving them advantage, but no one else knows what is on them and how to prepare in case enemy plays them) but I'd be very surprised if GW kept something they want selling well off table for long...

Six teams already actually and anyone who wants them can get them. The "opponent might not know about them" argument really doesn't stack up.

If you take a look at those there are a couple of very strong ones and a whole bunch of cool but not especially useful ones. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the four in the rule book were picked precisely because they are the more useful balanced ones in which restricting to those for organized play wouldn't be a bad thing at all.

If you page back in the thread (or poke about in the Warhammer community site) you should find a list of the next 4 factions to get killteam box sets

I think eldar are meant to be amongst them

As to GSC abberants the only source is the deathwatch overkill box set at the moment, but we've seen previews of some new ones from GW that will be coming out in a stand alone box of some sort 'soon'

GSC Aberannts were previewed already and it seem obvious to me that they will be released alongside the GSC codex and give GW a chance to promote Kill Team given they are a unit choice. For Space Wolves I am not expecting anything other than Primaris Space Wolves similar to what they did with Dark Angels and Blood Angels. Again, there maybe a Kill team tie in since they already released a space wolves themed expansion, though just generic AA tactics. Maybe Space Wolves will be the first Asartes to get faction specific rules for Kill Team?

*cough* four, technically

I said two because A) everyone knows what was in starter boxes, especially such big faction as SM, B ) the original ones were pretty weak/fluffy and only the last two were game changers. Even if we generously say all six should count, six is still not all of them, not even half, not even a third. Are you seriously postulating something only available to less than thirty percent of factions is advantage available widely enough the tournament should pay no heed to it?

And of course 'opponent might not know about them' is valid consideration only a complete amateur would disregard. Look at 40K tournaments, for one, almost all of them around the date of big FAQ disallowed it, precisely because it was something no one could plan in advance, despite FAQs being free and available instantly, and not locked behind paywall. People need time to actually write, build, paint and base minis, to risk invalidating it and forcing to redo again and again because last weekly KT release had complete game-changer in it would be completely nuts.

Four weeks is plenty of time to read and adjust to new rules (and that only applies to two of the six). This is no different to a new codex being released (in fact, rather less significant) and you do not see codexes released four weeks before an event not being allowed.

However, they chose to disallow them regardless which says to me that there is something else going.

Heartily agree! I've resorted to using those old green see-through plastic tokens from 5th Ed.

I will likely just buy the box set when it's back in stock locally, but the option for tokens would make sense.

I'm really enjoying Kill Team. It feels like 40k, but plays quite different. The game is more engaging as you are making little decisions throughout. I am also looking at starting Kill Teams for factions I would never get a full 40k army for.

There are a few tokens on Thingiverse, for instance, that do as Kill Team or Necromunda tokens. Get someone with a 3d printer to print some off for you.

Welp, I asked on the 40k FB page when the next wave of KT releases is, and the response was "Soon, Doug, soon!" so that's something

Well titanicus just came this week wich halted some of Kill Team releases.

We can expect at least 2 new starting teams (drukhari and nurgle i think) for preorder in 1-2 weeks with the kill zone , death world or similar.

beyond that only Rogue trade it's confirmed as coming in the future and just speculation on alternative teams or starting boxes.

I'm going to suggest that the next two are Drukhari and Deathwatch - so far they've been in faction focus order making these the next two. They're also both pictured in the deathworld forest kill zone.

So I've heard on fb groups that NOVA has rescinded the 2" height model climb ban, and that it should be mentioned in the newsletter they sent out today. Wonder what made them change their mind? Also, will comp folks still apply that rule as a house rule or go with the new NOVA ruling?

Put the pick in there Pete; and turn it round, real neat.

I'm personally hoping for some more depth and campaign options with the Rogue Trader release.

otherwise...

It may be the first time I'll buy a box just for the models, with no interest in playing them.

I'm not going, but if I were, as a T'au player I'd be pretty ticked off if I lost the benefit of one of my major abilities (FLY). I'm paying a points premium for flying units, I expect to get the advantage. Dunno if that's the reason though.

40k tournaments have been allowing codexes long time even when 1-2 out of nearly 2 dozen were out. And despite not every player having every other codex codexes are still allowed despite being one heck of a paywall and bigger game changer than few unique cards.

My Palantír in GW HQ has revealed to me that the next factions are Drukhari and Deathwatch, followed by Harlequins and T'au shortly after.

So yeah, the height restrictions are removed. No word that I know of yet as to what was the exact reason that happened. I'd imagine that folks at GW / NOVA might have paid some attention to people groaning on the internet and seen it better to just let players play with their terrain instead of going towards more boardgamey tournament style.

So here's a mousepad mat on sale for £5 (originally for Terminator Genisys but looks perfectly 40k and is 22x32,5" so almost exactly Kill Team sized).

Derp, thanks for the heads up.

I can't imagine the included terrain for either of those. Maybe some Imperialis ruins for Deathwatch, and the Eldritch Ruins for Drukhari?

Good find, great deal! Love that the corners are dead squares and not rounded, so you can put two mats together.
Ordered two to justify the US shipping. (But we are gamers, so justification is a mere formality to any gaming order, no?)

The previous Starter sets came in twos along with an accompanying Killzone, so I imagine they'll continue that trend. My Guess is we'll see Killzone: Deathworld, with the Deathworld/Aeldari ruins kit, and have similar terrain in the Drukhari and Deathwatch kits.

What they'll do for Harlequins and T'au, I don't know. The Tidewall "terrain" perhaps? The rulebook also showcases the Defense Line terrain, so that might also be included as a Killzone/starter set (including the Bastion?). Alternatively, some kits may have expansions for the Sector Imperialis which so far was only present in the main Kill Team starter.

I think that covers all main Terrain sets they sell currently, apart from regular old trees and the Gnarlmaw. By the way, I'm half expecting them to release Kill Team rules for Sector Imperialis Objectives at some point.
