Are the commander rules in the Rogue Trader book different/lacking anything from the Commander set itself?

Any hints if GW will produce Death Guard, Thousand Sons, Harlequin, and Craftworld Eldar KT starters similar to the Marines, Dark Eldar and Tau KT starters?

Eventually.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

By that reply, I gather there is nothing substantial. I did check some other websites hoping for actual news/leaks, and posted in the off chance I might have missed something elsewhere.

Didn't Harlequin commanders get mentioned? You'll want a KT squad to go with the KT commander.
So, eventually

A promo image was (presumably accidentally) posted on the facebook page for one of the German stores (although it could just be something the store put together and not actually significant...)

Still waiting on the official 40K army builder the teased in April. I hate Battlescribe as it is often riddled with errors and crashes constantly on my device.

Battlescribe is okay, but doesent really do Command Rosters correctly. I end up bringing a pre made Killteam to most games and it seems like most of the gamers at my shop don't even use a Roster.

I did download the Assault Dice app and that thing crashed after a few weeks, leaving spinning black cubes.

Kill Team Command Roster is an online army builder. No app to download or to crash.

Or be able to access when phone signal and Wifi are not an option. I prefer app. See the hoo-ha about X-wing 2.0's 'app'.

Hmm... of all the single Tyranid/GSC minis, what could these be?

The Magus/Primus/Patriach is part of the same sprue, so it can't be that. So that makes it either the Iconward (yay... ), the new gunslinger Primus (unlikely), or the Abominant dude (whatever he's called). For Tyranids... it's basically a Broodlord or nothing else, as the Tyranid Prime mini is part of the Warrior kit.

Am I missing any other single plastic minis that the 'Nids/GSC could get?

Iconward and Broodlord yes, they've been spotted at the reveal already:

Spoiler:

The names of the commanders on the preorder match those on the box.

Broodlord and Iconward up for Commander pre-orders.

Looks like a 22% saving on the BL mini, but the Iconward is 180% the price of him in a clampack.

This commander pricing is insane.

Unfortunate for GW that've been practically giving away the Broodlord in every Tyranid Box set since the Blood Angels vs Tyranids box back in 7th. Most tyranid players have 2+. More if they bought several newer SC kits for the Stealers and the Trygon/Mawloc.

Iconward too likely won't see a buy here with it being released in the Tooth and Claw set.

Again, unfortunate pricing.

Kill Team rules for the Blackstone Fortress models: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/12/05/5th-dec-kill-team-command-roster-and-the-servants-of-the-abyss-waiting-on-cr-linkgw-homepage-post-3/

I notice Dayakh Grekh has the “Kroot” FACTION keyword as well as “T’au Empire”... A sign of things to come, surely (though not necessarily very soon...)

Also Kill Team Command Roster is now a thing: https://www.warhammer-community.com/CommandRoster/

I was hoping for a real App, but still pretty neat.

Interesting. The explorers would make good additions to a Guard list since they don't count toward your maximum number of specialists and they fill in some gaps that Scions and Guard Infantry can't really fill themselves. I didn't expect them to make all of the hostiles a new faction unto themselves, and they are really lacking when it comes to special and heavy weapons, but they are intriguing none the less.

I tried using the list builder and it doesn't seem to work very well. Whenever I add a model for a basic squad member and try to change its type the whole thing just disappears.

Pretty nice to see they created a new faction for the chaos stuff.
I'm a bit disappointed that so many explorers are commanders, but at least viorne isn't.

I actually assumed they all were but for some reason some couldn't be upgraded That changes things a little bit - all the commander ones seem pretty meh to me, but straight add-ins are interesting. UR-025 for 30 points for example (I say as a Gellerpox player, where 31 point models is a thing). Also chuffed to be able to add a Kroot to my Tau! Until it becomes all Kroot. Edit: But what's with Vorne's combat weapon? Is the Vindicator really just S4 AP-1 D1 in BF too? Heavy flamer notwithstanding!

Servants of the Abyss list is rough, feels pretty much bottom tier to me. Negavolt spam is a thought, and the list has some weirdly high LD going on, but it's missing a lot of the tools that make even Heretic Astartes somewhat functional, or the tricks that keep Gellerpox interesting.

Not that that stopped me from mucking about with a list this morning ...
Spoiler:
[L] Traitor Sergeant
[D] Traitor Guardsman Gunner - krak
[V] Rogue Psyker
[C] Negavolt Cultist
6x Negavolt Cultists
Beastman
98
^ Negavolt spam + cool psyker + hidden leader + grenadier because points + beastman for T4 objective camper or something. Could be Zealot for that +2S/+2A mega charge, but with all the Negavolts I'm not sure how needed it is. Vs I guess giving the gunner something to do with himself (like +1W on lasgun)

Sooo is it correct in thinking that you could mix and match chaos stuff from the standard book and the new bsf list?

otherwise i dont understand the point of the "if every model in your kill team has the sota faction keyword" line.

though you end up missing out on the sota tactics.
