Platinum Devil 3 - The Elysians go on tour!
After some deliberation, I finally made the decision (and convinced Da Boss) to make it out for what could be (but hopefully not) the last Platinum Devil. Let me say up front - It was an excellent weekend and I'm extremely glad I did!
As PD3 was (originally) an escalation event up to 1500pts, the first thing to determine was what I would need! I already had 1000pts from Silver Sorcerer/Partick Crucible. My
WIP Meganobz would need to get to "playable" (there was no hope of my finishing the conversions in time…) to get to 1250pts and the easiest way to fill out to 1500pts was to expand my Kommandos….

Left behind... (Yes, that's all the Orks I have together for 18 months work!)
I drove across from Coventry to Cantebury (3.5hrs) on the Friday night after work, and hence was well rested for the start on Saturday morning.
Game 1 - 1000 points, Victory Points, Pitched Battle vs Stu H's Wraithguard (Eldar)
The Eldar won the roll off and set up their large Wraithguard unit with Farseer and Warlock centrally and forward, with the Prisms flanking to each side behind, and the Wraithlord to my right. The Deffkoptas mirrored the Prisms, whilst the three Trukks set up centrally opposite - Morgrim on the Wraithlord's side. Some Pathfinders infiltrated on the other side in front of the Nobz, the Deffkoptas scout turbo boosted forwards and the Orks failed to seize the initiative.
Turn 1 the Prisms cleverly moved away from the Deffkoptas, but only managed to immobilise the Nobz Trukk. The Pathfinders wounded the nearby Deffkopta and the main Wraithguard/lord line moved forward - right into my charge range bwahahahaha… The Orks swarmed forward - the Nobz disembarking to close in on the Pathfinders whilst Morgrim and his boyz disembarked in front of the Wraithguard. Skarag's Trukk moved to the right - but remained embarked as a reserve force to deal with the Wraithlord. The right Deffkopta managed to down a Prism, whilst the other was less effective. Morgrim's assault was a sign of things to come - first he took a wound (on his 2+ save) and then whiffed against the Farseer, only causing one wound - which was saved. The boyz found the Wraithguard hard going and it came down to the Nob to draw the combat.
Turn 2 the remaining Prism backed away further to the middle of the board. The Pathfinders finished of their Deffkopta - and I think the Prism revenged its twin. The Wraithlord assaulted into Morgrim, but also whiffed - though Morgrim lost another wound to another non power weapon. Morgrim, sensing the greater threat, managed to put two wounds on the Wraithlord before the Nob chewed through more Wraithguard to win the combat. Skarag's boyz jumped out to help Morgrim with the Wraithlord and Wraithguard while the Nobz moved and Waaagh!ed into the Pathfinders. As to be expected, the Nobz made short work of the Pathfinders. Meanwhile, the Wraithlord whiffed again, Morgrim lost his last wound, Morgrim's Nob had made his way to the Farseer and dispatched him, and Skarag's Nob finished off the wounded Wraithlord.
Turn 3 saw the combat continue in the centre. At the end of the Eldar turn, only the Warlock and a single Wraithguard remained. At the end of the Ork turn, Da Dark Angelz were advancing on the remaining Prism…
Turn 4 saw the Eldar move the Prism to the centre of their table edge. Da boy all closed in and Wrecked it for Annihilation!
Orks: 1000VP
Eldar: 250VP
VICTORY: DA DARK ANGELZ (ORKS!)
AFTERMATH
Poor Stu H didn't really stand a chance here - especially moving into my charge range on turn 1! Luck was pretty poor across the board - with both sides rolling below average - ending in the 3 turn tussle in the middle. The Prism movement away rom my Deffkoptas caught me off guard - though in hindsight I don't think I could have deployed differently - unless I wanted to attempt to lure the Wraithlord away from the middle with the right Deffkopta...
Report Card:
Morgrim "Da Lion" Grimork (Da Warboss): An off start, failed too many 2+ saves, but did manage to weaken the Wraithlord.
C
Skarag Mekslag (Da Big Mek): KFF average (not much to protect against), failed to wound a Wraithguard with his Burna over several rounds of combat.
C
Grimskab Badwort (Da Painboy) and Da Inna Circul (5 Nobz) in a Trukk: Under utilised against Pathfinders. Took out the final Prism
B
Da Warboss' Taktikal Boyz in a Trukk: Boyz weren't much more than fodder, but the Nob single handedly kept them in the fight in the centre and eventually dispatched the Farseer
A
Skarag's Taktikal Boyz in a Trukk: Again, boyz weren't much more than fodder, but the Nob took down the wounded Wraithlord
B
Rav'nwing I: Diverted fire from Trukks.
C
Rav'nwing II: Lucky Prism kill (with Rokkits no less!). Diverted fire from Trukks.

With a win under my belt, I was feeling confident going into game 2. I think notprop won the roll off and chose to go second. With Night Fight in play, I setup the Nobz in their Trukk with Skarag on the centre line - to the right where two of the three objectives were. notprop deployed a small force in the corner on my left opposite the lone objective, and a much larger force in the corner on my right.
Turn 1 I moved the Nobz forward, carefully avoiding the objectives - which would give notprop additional bombardments - and flat out moved my remaining two Trukks up behind the Nobz - in
KFF range. The Deffkoptas turboboosted on on both flanks - the right side one hiding behind a convenient building. The left Deffkopta should have done this too - as he lost a wound to shooting on that side. notprop brought on a Chimera on the far left and the rest of his tanks centrally - except for a single Sentinel which was outflanking - and another blob squad in opposite the other two objectives. In other shooting, notprop managed to immobilise the Nob Trukk (I'm sensing a pattern…)
Turn 2 the left Deffkopta moved up whilst the right Deffkopta thought better
about attacking a blob Guard and turbo boosted into the centre. SKarag's boyz, minus Skarag, moved flat out to the centre ready to pounce on the tanks, whilst Morgrim moved up as well. Skarag repaired the Immobilised Nobz Trukk. The left Deffkopta assaulted into the small squad on the far left and took his final wound before getting to strike back - doh! With Night Fight lifted and all his units on the table, notprop set about whittling down the Orks - killing the last Deffkopta, Immobilising the centre Trukk and wrecking the recently repaired Nobz Trukk. Meanwhile - a Chimera full of Troops on the far left was slowly making its way to that lone objective…
Turn 3 the Orks were finally in range of the Imperial lines and made their move! The central Trukk boyz jumped out and headed towards the Imperial Tanks. The Nobz moved up to deal with the Platoon Command Squad in the ruins. Morgrim declared a Tank Shock against the blob Guard - hoping to send them off the table. Instead, a melta gun ripped through his Trukk. The resulting 6" explosion caught over 20 Guard - but only managed to kill 3 or 4! In return, Morgrim lost 5 or 6 of his boyz! Undeterred, he assaulted in with what was left of his mob into the blob Guard - only to have all of the boyz (including the Nob) cut down before they could strike! Somehow Morgrim managed to keep in the fight and not get himself run down. To the left, the boyz failed to disable the tank or the Sentinel. The Nobz did much better on the right, easily wiping through the Platoon Command squad and consolidating into the ruins. At this point, time was called (well - wind up) - and I suddenly was left in the unenviable position of not holding any objectives with my opponent still to have his third turn. With time running out, we quickly focused on the moves and shooting that would decide the battle. On the left, notprop took the objective. On the right, the boy couldn't hurt the Sentinel and Morgrim was cut down - allowing the blob to take a second objective for a Guard win.
Orks: 0 Objectives
Guard: 2 Objectives
VICTORY: GUARD
AFTERMATH
Running out of time, especially at the end of my turn before my opponent's, in an objective mission, that only went to turn 3, did me in here. It was still a close game - underestimating the blob Guard (particularly the Trukk explosion!) cost me Morgrim and his boyz - which was going to make it a challenge, if not an uphill battle. I should have sent the Nobz into the blob Guard - and perhaps the other squad of boyz too...
Report Card:
Morgrim "Da Lion" Grimork (Da Warboss): Mobbed by Guard! Oh the humility!
C
Skarag Mekslag (Da Big Mek): KFF average. Got a repair in. Assisted the Nobz

Game 3 - 1250 points, Assassination, Table Quarters vs Jonagon's Tau
A win and a loss saw me up against Jonagon's beautiful Tau. With a points increase, in came the Meganobz in a Trukk against Crisis Suits galore and a large group of Kroot - Kill Points a-plenty with Elites and Heavy Support counting two and
HQs counting 3. The Tau won the roll off and chose to deploy and go first - setting up aggressively on the 12" line. Da Dark Angelz set up in standard formation - terrain forcing Skarag's Trukk to be behind terrain in order to make maximum use of the
KFF - with the Meganobz on the left and the Nobz on the right. Scout moves put the Deffkoptas far up on each flank - and the game began!
Turn 1 saw the Tau aggressively advance. My inner Ork ecstatic as multiple Crisis Suits entered my first turn charge range. Even better, the entire Tau line concentrated on the Deffkoptas - managing to destroy the one on my left, but only take a wound off the one on my right - much to the Tau's frustration. They also managed to immobilise the Nobz Trukk of course

However, the cunning plan was revealed as the Tau Crisis Suits jumped back during the Assault Phase - once again out of reach of the Orks… Their first turn assault thwarted, the Trukks all hurtled forwards flat out towards the cowardly Tau - except for the Nobz - who disembarked their useless Trukk and headed on foot towards the Kroot. In a surprising burst of accuracy, the remaining Deffkopta managed to explode the nearest Hammerhead. Things were looking up!
Turn 2, less distracted by the remaining Deffkopta and now with more formidable threats, the Tau brought their firepower to bear on the Trukks - managing to break through the
KFF and wreck Morgrim's ride in the centre forest, while a Kareen result on the Meganobz Trukk saw them flung forward into the Tau lines. In a game deciding Assault Phase, the Kroot assaulted uninhibited through the forest into Morgrim's boyz, wiping all bar Morgrim before they could attack back - who promptly fled. All in all a good turn for the Tau - 7VP just in this turn! Trying to make the most of the situation, the Nobz tried to run and Waaagh! to revenge Morgrim, but rolled a 1

The Crisis Suits had jumped out of range - the closest behind the other Hammerhead and the building full of Firewarriors - so the Meganobz multi assaulted them instead - destroying the Hammerhead and sending the Firewarriors retreating. The lone Deffkopta assaulted the right most Crisis Suits, winning combat and causing them to retreat too.
Turn 3 the remaining Tau kept out of the way, pinging at the Orks from afar. Skarag's Trukk was immobilised and the Meganobz were reduced in number. Meanwhile, the Kroot, plucky with courage after their earlier success, decided to assault the Nobz - too their extreme detriment

The Orks, bereft of their mobility could only deal with the Devilfish that had strayed too close.
I think we got as far as Turn 4 before time was called. The Meganobz were finished off between the two remaining groups of suits, and the Orks were unable to catch them. We tallied up the points, and checked them twice - the Tau had managed a narrow win!

Orks: 9

VICTORY: TAU
AFTERMATH
I like a close, challenging game - so this ended up being my favourite of the day - even though I lost. I think more turns would only have cemented the Tau victory - as my mobility was gone, but his was still raging on. I'll have to be more careful of disembarking units from wrecked vehicles in future to avoid a repeat of the Kroot massacre. If only I had got first turn!

Game 4 - 1250 points, Seize Ground, Pitched Battle vs Titan Princep's Guard
With two straight losses, I needed to win this round to recover the day. Guard won the roll to place objectives, allowing me to get three together on one side of the table. I won the roll off and chose the other side, setting up opposite the three objectives on the right, and ignoring the one on the far left. The Guard setup in the far top left corner - putting as much distance as possible between themselves and the Orks. Scut moves saw the Vendettas move along the far left table edge and the Deffkoptas swoop in for first turn kills. Except Guard stole the initiative!
Turn 1 saw the systematic destruction of the two Deffkoptas and the immobilisation (again?!?) of the Nobz Trukk. Figuring the Nobz were actually safer *in* the Trukk than out, I left them there and flat out moved the remaining three Trukks forward into the centre of the table.
Turn 2 the
KFF failed me as all three Trukks were exploded or wrecked - their occupants bedding down in the newly created rubble around the objectives. At this point the plan was to go defensive - hold the objectives and distract the Guard from taking/contesting them. Skarag headed back towards the Nobz Trukk, leaving his boy to defend the objective. Morgrim similarly left his squad, hoping to put some pressure on the nearest Guard Tanks. Meanwhile the Meganobz started wading down the river, hoping to be at best relevant, at worst a distraction.
Turn 3 saw the Guard pepper various squads with little impact. The Meganobz lost two of their number, but held. Skarag, vulnerable by himself, took a wound. Even Morgrim - who had failed previously to make it into assault last turn, weathered and survived a whole lot of melta fire - albeit only with one wound left… Meanwhile the Meganobz inched closer to the Vendettas, Morgrim destroyed the Demolisher Cannon on the nearby tank, the boy secured three objectives and Skarag joined the Nobz but failed to fix the Trukk.
Turn 4 the Guard took the far left objective and started moving in on two more. Morgrim and the Meganobz were finished off, and more casualties were wrought on the boyz mobs holding the objectives. Skarag fixed the Nobz Trukk - but that was about it for the Ork turn.
Turn 5 the Guard exploded the newly fixed Nobz Trukk and made a move for the objectives - but only managed to contest one. The Nobz moved slowly forward. At this point, it was an Ork game - 2 Ork held objectives, one Guard held and one contested.
Turn 6 the Guard knocked one of the Ork boyz mobs off of an objective, bringing it to one objective each, or a draw.
Turn 7 the Guard secured a second objective, winning the game.
Guard: 2 Objectives
Orks: 1 Objective
VICTORY: GUARD
AFTERMATH
This is a prime example of how my list goes wrong - ie when someone has enough firepower to overcome the
KFF - or in this case, the
KFF just fails - and explodes all of my Trukks before my second turn. While I shouldn't have been surprised that a Guard player would want to keep my Orks at arms length - I was surprised that he would effectively forfeit 3 of 4 objectives to do it - I really had expected him to setup opposite. In the end, this worked to my advantage. If I'm going to have my mobility wiped out, there is no better place for it to happen than around 3 of 4 objectives with the Guard having to come to me. In hindsight, I think I should have moved the Nobz out sooner and used the Meganobz to protect the lead objective. It wasn't until late in the game I realised I should have been going to ground for 3++ cover saves, and this may have helped extend my control of the objectives an extra turn. Still - where the
KFF failed, the Orks were extremely well dug in - their 4++ cover save saved them more often than not - important with my actual small numbers on the ground… I find it particularly humorous that I usually have trouble finishing games, usually to my detriment - but this game was the exact opposite! Titan Princeps was most apologetic about doing what he had to do
Report Card:
Morgrim "Da Lion" Grimork (Da Warboss): Removed a Demolisher Cannon. Distracted some Guard.
C
Skarag Mekslag (Da Big Mek): KFF failed dismally. Managed to repair the Nobz Trukk only to let another Lascannon through…

After a good start, Saturday was all down hill victory wise. One win, three losses. Still - I had had a great time against great opponents. Hopefully I hadn't let them down too far with my unfinished army… (I think only Ketara's was also unfinished - and he'd been ill!) Joined the guys for drinks and dinner, and then it was on to Sunday!
Game 5 - 1000 points, Victory Points, Pitched Battle vs Lovepug13's Nurgle (Chaos)
Little did I know, but Sunday was going to start off with my favourite game of the day. I lost the roll off and Lovepug13's small, elite Nurgle army set up in the far left corner - daring my Orks to set up opposite - whilst friendly banter ensued. Three individual Obliterators set up on the top left hill alongside the single Slaanesh Daemon Prince and a Nurgle Daemon Prince. The two groups of five Nurgle marines set up to their right in their Rhinos. Da Dark Angelz took up the challenge - setting up opposite - the Nobz on the left, eyeing off the Daemon Princes, then the Big Mek and Boyz and finally Morgrim and the two Deffkoptas. The Deffkoptas scouted forward towards the right most Rhino, Morgrim failed to seize the initiative, and the game was on!
Turn 1 the Daemon Prince's flew forward, risking difficult terrain - and raising the Orks hopes as they entered charge range. The Rhinos and Nurgle Marines moved to deal with the Deffkoptas. In a good run of
KFF and turbo boost cover saves, the Nobz Trukk was immobilised (AGAIN!) and a Deffkopta took a wound - things were looking up! Skarag disembarked and moved behind the Nobz Trukk, preparing to "fix" it. Meanwhile Morgrim cut across towards the Daemon Princes - Morgrim disembarking separately to face the Nurgle Daemon Prince while his boyz faced the Slaanesh one. Skarag's boyz drove off to the right. Shooting saw the Deffkoptas fail to hit the Nurgle Marines, whilst Morgrim's boyz put two wounds on the Slaanesh Daemon Prince with their Shootas. Skarag managed to repair the Nobz Trukk. Morgrim's boyz assaulted and cleaned up the Slaanesh Daemon Prince, and consolidated to uselessly block the Nurgle Daemon Prince from Morgrim - who had failed to make the assault distance

. Meanwhile, the two Deffkoptas cleaned up the small Nurgle Marines unit for the loss of the wounded one.
Turn 2 Chaos tried to make amends. The Nurgle Daemon Prince jumped over Morgrim's boyz, ready to assault Morgrim. The last unit of Nurgle Marines jumped out to rapid fire Morgrim's boyz. From memory, the Nobz Trukk was Weapon Destroyed and/or shaken, Skarag's boyz Trukk wrecked (his boyz piling out in the difficult terrain near the Nurgle Marines) - or maybe this was next turn? Meanwhile, Morgrim's boyz were reduced to a boy and the Nob. The Nurgle Daemon Prince assaulted Morgrim through difficult terrain, but only managed to wound him twice. Morgrim returned the favour for a drawn combat. Chaos morale was low as the Orks moved in. The remaining Deffkopta moved to shoot/assault the closest Rhino. Skarag's boyz moved towards the Nurgle Marines, while the two left from Morgrim's boyz moved towards the closest Obliterator. Skarag jumped in the Nobz Trukk and it moved forward into the difficult terrain that the whole battle seemed to be centred around. Morgrim called a Waaagh! so that his boyz could make it to the Obliterator - and then the first mistake - Skarag's boyz shot into the Nurgle Marines for no casualties - and then failed to make it into assault! The Deffkopta achieved little against the Rhino. Morgrim was cut down by the Nurgle Daemon Prince. The Obliterator cut down the boy, and saved against the Nob's Power Klaw! To add insult to injury, he then proceeded to run him down!
Turn 3 Chaos capitalised on the Orks mistakes/lack of success. The Nurgle Daemon Prince walked to avoid a difficult terrain test towards the Nobz Trukk. Shooting wounded the Deffkopta and reduced Skarag's Boyz - a small issue over cover saves in difficult terrain where the firers are also in the same difficult terrain and within 2" was resolved as 5+. The Nurgle Daemon Prince failed to touch the fast moving Trukk. Their target in sight, the Nobz dismounted, ready to charge the Nurgle Daemon Prince whilst Skarag remained embarked on the Trukk and moved up towards the Obliterators. The remains of Skarag's boyz moved forward ready to assault the Nurgle Marines and the Deffkopta moved to have another go at the closest Rhino. Meanwhile, Morgrim's Trukk moved flat out towards the Obliterators. The Nobz easily cleaned up the wounded Nurgle Daemon Prince and consolidated towards the Obliterators. Skarag's boyz, assaulting through difficult terrain, were not so lucky - however the Nob managed to take down three of the Marines before being overrun. The Deffkopta finally exploded the Rhino it had been targeting.
Turn 4 and the field was looking very empty. The Obliterators destroyed Morgrim's Trukk (possibly by one in assault…) whilst the others retreated from the approaching Nobz. The remaining Nurgle Marines cowardly returned to their vehicle and moved away from the Nobz. Someone took it upon themselves to put the last Deffkopta down. Rough estimates of Victory Points put the Orks marginally in the lead, and the Chaos were on the run to force a draw. Skarag moved up in his Trukk to Burna an Obliterator without success. A good difficult terrain roll saw the Nobz make the closest Obliterator and obliterate him in assault for no losses (poor to hit rolls on Chaos' part) - consolidating in Morgrim's Trukk wreckage.
Turn 5 and Chaos continued to back off and pour it's remaining firepower into the Nobz - but being diversified, in 4+ cover and with
FNP, the wounds spread around to no immediate effect. In return, the Nobz assaulted a second Obliterator - losing one of their number, but winning combat and continuing in on the last.
Turn 6 and Chaos' last hope was to cause the Nobz enough casualties to break - but again they were frustrated by cover,
FNP and diversification. Again the Nobz assaulted, and the last Obliterator fell.
Now either the game ended here - or I missed a turn - or Chaos had one last chance to fire with those two Nurgle Marines. Then end result was the diversified Nobz having lost only one of their members (to an Obliterator Powerfist) and the five remaining with one wound each! To win, I needed to beat Chaos by 150VP
Chaos: 575VP
Orks: >725VP
VICTORY: DA DARK ANGELZ (ORKS!)
AFTERMATH
A hard fought battle, with some interesting twists and turns, and even sweeter with victory. Only the extra turns and the unkillable Nobz eventually allowed me to move this past a draw. In fact - we thought this *was* a draw, until it was pointed out that the Nurgle Marines were under half strength and therefore gave up half their Victory Points…

Game 6 - 1500 points, Attrition, Table Quarters vs Panic's Grot Kanwall (Orks)
Da Dark Angelz and Panic's Grotz had faced off in the Silver Sorcerer for a draw. This time, we had both brought reinforcements! In many ways, our warbands use different parts of the Ork Codex - with only
KFF Big Meks and Meganobz in common… This battle only awarded
KP for Troops choices, and Troops choices would be recycled. Panic won the roll-off and gave me first turn. Da Dark Angelz set up in typical Spearhead formation - right on the line. "Da Plan" was to ram right through the middle to get to the juicy Grot Troops choices. Da Grotz obliged - also setting up on the line with numerous Kans and Warbuggies - - whilst keeping the Deff Dread Troops choices to the rear, guarding the entry point for three units of Grotz in reserve. I only hoped that Snikrot's Kommandos would appear *after* the Grotz… Scout moves out of the way, and da Grotz failing to seize, it was on to turn 1…
My first turns, if they don't involve assaults, are pretty quick. Four Trukks moved flat out towards the Grot lines. The left Deffkopta kept its distance and exchanged Rokkits with the Deff Dread whilst the right played with some Warbuggies. In return, da Grotz closed in for the kill. Morgrim's Trukk exploded whilst the Meganobz were immobilised. The three Kans in front of Morgrim's boy then flamed them into oblivion - only leaving Morgrim and the Nob. Who puts Skorchas on Kans?!?! The Kans assaulted in, and although everyone went together, Morgrim and the Nob failed to do any significant damage. Morgrim was cut down, but the Nob survived and held… The Kans on the other side exploded the Meganobz Trukk, the resulting explosion killing the Nob in combat with the Kans! On the otherside of the field, the Kans let loose with Grotzookas against the Deffkopta before assaulting and killing it.
Turn 2 and I was already down 2
KP for Morgrim's Trukk and Boyz - who promptly came back on on the far right to assault the Kans there. The Nobz moved to boarding plank the Deff Dread at the rear whilst Skarag's Trukk moved within boarding plank range of the nearby Kans. His usual inept timing, Snikrot chose now to come on, and move on behind the two units of Warbuggies in the centre. The Meganobz decided a good offence was better than a poor defines, and moved to assault the Kans that had disembarked them. Generally, Da Dark Angelz were having difficulty across the board dealing with the Grot armour. In an unexpected twist, the Kans facing the Meganobz only managed to dispatch one before they unceremoniously cut down by twelve Power Klaw attacks. In response, da Grotz committed their remaining forces to the battle in the centre whistle a single unit of Grotz moved on as far away as possible from all the action. Kans attempted to assault Skarag's Trukk and a Deff Dread took a shot at the Nobz Trukk - but both couldn't touch them. Meanwhile the other Deff Dread assaulted the Kommandos while the Grot Big Meks and Megagrotz multi-assaulted the Kommandos and Meganobz - resulting in the Kommandos running and all Megagrotz and Meganobz wiped out. On the right, the Kans were slowly chewing through Morgrim's resurrected boyz…
Turn 3 and I was still down two Kill Points. The Nobz decided the the single Boarding Plank attack was not enough and disembarked to face the Deff Dread. Skarag's Trukk Tank Shocked towards the Grotz, but even flat-out, failed to connect. The remaining Deffkopta turbo-boosted over to help out. In assault, the Nobz cleaned up the Deff Dread, but the Kans finished off Morgrim's boy a second time. Unfortunately, we ran out of time. Or perhaps fortunately in my case - the carnage was quite immense!

AFTERMATH
A fun game, but not a very successful one for Da Dark Angelz. Getting to Panic's Troop Choices was always going to be hard with the Grotz in reserve, hindered more so by going first and having my Kommandos show up punctually for a change. However, I think my real flaw was in my tactics. Panic was quite ready to have a scrap - especially as his vulnerable units didn't need to take part - and I basically gave up my one advantage - my speed - to try to ram my army down his throat. In hindsight, I may have been better off advancing up to 7" in the fist turn and firing all of my Shootas/Big Shootas to attempt to reduce his Warbuggy shooting and mobility and just avoid his Kans until I was ready to deal with them. Or - attack down one flank. And/or wait until the Grotz revealed themselves and use my mobility to get to them…
Report Card:
Morgrim "Da Lion" Grimork (Da Warboss): Killed by Kans, how embarrassing - especially as he didn't take any of them with him!
C-
Skarag Mekslag (Da Big Mek): KFF was working well under the barrage of Ork shooting.
B
Da Deffwingz (5 Meganobz) in a Trukk: Killed a Kans unit as well as the Megagrotz in a battle of attrition
B
Snikrot's Kommandoz: Arrived too early. Mostly ineffective against Warbuggies due to movement, and especially ineffective against a Deff Dread!
C
Grimskab Badwort (Da Painboy) and Da Inna Circul (5 Nobz) in a Trukk: Not the impact I would have liked, but did get me *one* Kill Point
C+
Da Warboss' Taktikal Boyz in a Trukk: Skorched to death.
D
Skarag's Taktikal Boyz in a Trukk: Some boarding plank attacks against Kans only.
C
Rav'nwing I: Played tagged with a Deff Dread
C
Rav'nwing II: Played, not very successfully, with some Warbuggies before being cut down by Kans.

Game 7 - 1500 points, Portal, Table Halves vs thesearmsarerob's Space Marines
For the final game, Da Dark Angelz faced off against a Space Marine force. With Dawn of War in effect, and going first, Skarag and his boyz set up in his Trukk behind a piece of terrain 24" onto the board. In return, a Tactical Squad in a Rhino set up to my left.
First turn saw Skarag's Trukk shuffle a bit to provide
KFF protection to the three other Trukks moving flat out onto the board. The Deffkoptas turbo-boosted up the flanks. The rest of the Space Marine army moved on across the board. Although making his Spotting Distance, especially with a Searchlight, the
KFF simply would not let anything through - perhaps a single shaken or weapon destroyed result.
Turn 2 Da Dark Angelz pounced. Snikrot showed up on time again, and moved on from the right flank to deal with the Jumppack Assault Marines that had moved up behind the ruin there. The Nobz moved forward and disembarked towards the Predator. The remaining three Trukks moved in on the left flank. The Deffkoptas moved to deal with the Rhinos on their respective flanks. Morgrim called down the Waagh and the Nobz ran into assault distance of the Predator and Landspeeder. The right Deffkoptta wrecked its Rhino with well aimed Rokkits. Snikrot's Burnas flamed the Assault Marines before assaulting them. The Nobz exploded the Predator but were unable to hit the fast moving Landspeeder. Snikrot's Kommandos got stuck in an ongoing combat with the Assault Marines.
I'm a bit hazy about how things exactly went from here… Snikrot's Kommando's eventually killed off the Assault Marines. The Nobz took out the disembarked Tactical Squad nearby before tag teaming with the Deffkopta and Kommanods against the Landspeeder and putting it down - though they never *quite* made it to the bottom right objective before time was called.
The Meganobz Trukk was exploded. I think the Meganobz assaulted the Librarian and Sternguard's Rhino, destroying it, and then were shot at by eight Kombi-Meltas, causing five wounds. They were in range of the
KFF and made four of five 5+ cover saves! They proceeded to kill the Dreadnought, Librarian and Sternguard.
Morgrim and his boyz made a bee-line for the top left objective, assaulting the Rhino there on the way through, exploding it. They continued on to the objective whilst Skarag's boyz cleaned up the Tactical squad that was disembarked.
Orks: 1 Objective
Space Marines: 0 Objectives
VICTORY: DA DARK ANGELZ (ORKS!)
AFTERMATH
I'm sure thesearmsarerob will have nightmares about Orks with Kustom Force Field's - between letting only a handful of results through on the Trukks (if that) - and never anything useful! - and saving the Meganobz - well, Skarag was Ork of the match! Everything else just went to plan and unfortunately ended up a very one-sided affair.
Report Card:
Morgrim "Da Lion" Grimork (Da Warboss): Wrecked a Rhino. Got his boyz to an objective for the win
B
Skarag Mekslag (Da Big Mek): KFF kept the Trukks all in pristine condition, as well as saving the Meganobz - Ork of the match!
A+
Da Deffwingz (5 Meganobz) in a Trukk: Destroyed a Rhino, survived 8 Combi Meltas, killed the Librarian, Sternguard and Dreadnought
A
Snikrot's Kommandoz: Chewed through an Assault Marine Squad
B
Grimskab Badwort (Da Painboy) and Da Inna Circul (5 Nobz) in a Trukk: Munched through a Preadator, Tactical squad and Landspeeder for no casualties.
A
Da Warboss' Taktikal Boyz in a Trukk: Took an objective for the win
B
Skarag's Taktikal Boyz in a Trukk: Kept a Landspeeder in check, took out a Tactical squad
A
Rav'nwing I: Took out a Rhino
B
Rav'nwing II: I think was taken out by the Dreadnought or a Meltagun, for little in game effect

Final Score: 3 WINS, 0 DRAWS, 4 LOSSES for 13pts and I have no idea the placing…
Awesome weekend. May thanks to the organisers and players! Apologies for any mistakes, oversights etc!
