Just finished Bioshock Infinite. I guess the smart things would be another go in the 1999 mode but there's so much to play and so little time. I'll probably either continue with Metal Gear Rising or Tomb Raider
Fighting the urge to reinstall and play through Bloodlines again. My last one was cut short by my hard drive going all 'splody, and I'm getting the jones again - but I still haven't even gone to Solstheim yet, so I can't quit on this Skyrim character. Appalonia the Redguard will be victorious in this Dragonborn dance off!

Vampire Bloodlines? Great game, I heard there was an amazing community mod out for it that made for even more great gameplay!

Yup, and yup. I've played it with a few different Mods - the Camarilla Edition and the Clan Quest Mods, if memory serves. They both add to the game. I think if I do reinstall I'm going to try out The Final Nights, which is a much newer offering built onto the Camarilla Edition mod that I haven't tried yet. It looks pretty good.

Yeah! That's the one I was hearing good things about, and I really loved Bloodlines, played the hell out of it. Really fantastic soundtrack too, still listen to it on my iPod.
I'm sure it has a lot in common with Just Cause 2 which I haven't played much of. They like to try to sell it as "Skyrim with guns". I don't know about that but generic FPS to me means something like COD which it ain't.

You mean the Graphics? The Gameplay is the strongest part of the game for me, i find jungles/tropical islands to be somewhat visually unsatisfying. The script and Voice acting (though not, however, the actual story) deserve an honourable mention, the best since Red Dead imo. I really hope they set the next one somewhere more unique, i thought maybe an abandoned Eastern bloc industrial Town filled with immigrants fleeing a war would be a cool setting, have that kinda derelict beauty of Prypriat.
Bioshock Infinite. Enjoying this one massively.
GTA: Vice City. A £1 charity shop bargain; never played it all the way through previously.
Dino Crisis. Will be interesting to see how this PS1 era Capcom survival horror stacks up against their Resident Evil games. The raptors are quite large.

I just finished the second episode and am enjoying it. Looking forward to the next, and I did not think I would appreciate it much.
It did take a bit of getting used to though.
Now I am not sure what to look forward to and will probably go back and replay some of the collection.
And probably reread parts of this thread for more inspiration.
I was also somewhat doubtful of Farcry 3 - and the story does get a bit. . .wonky at times; it was great fun however.

I think that part of it is that I play with my Y axis inverted and I can't change to that. Well, that and the movement
Ahh. . .my lady has the same problems with steering in games She seems to have little issue with the controls in the Walking Dead though.
Did not think about that until now.
Have to ask her.
At least its not as bad as the flying in Halo 4. I didn't see the flight settings and invert Y inverted the flight invert (Yo Dawg, I heard you like invert) so in a 4 player co-op I was decisively bringing up the rear
Cleaned the dust off my Wii and I started replaying the Metroid Prime trilogy. I loved the first two on GameCube, but the re-release of them on Wii was a fantastic idea.
The same sections of Bioshock Infinite over again, thanks to some glitch that always loads up the hall of heroes from the continue option. I can choose to load the start of a chapter but it means I have to be careful about when I abandon a game; what a nuisance.
Finished the Mass Effect 3 DLC and it was sorta poignant at the end. It was nice to have a final farewell to all the characters and I think BioWare did a good job with it.
I think it was a fitting farewell to the Mass Effect series, and some of the jokes and the conversations with the characters were hilarious (EDI & Specialist Traynor springs to mind )
I really need to get back onto the ME wagon, though it requires playing through ME1 and 2 twice more. Im a sucker for character continuality
Saying that I just completed Batman Arkham City, really good game. Ending was unexpected but satisfying(in a way).Just hope that the Batman: Origins in development doesn't screw up. Just about to go play Harlys Revenge.
Along side that I'v been playing the ever so enjoyable Guild Wars 2, finally got my first character to level 80 Time to get the second one to 80
Legend of Zleda Skyward Sword. Hot gak this is a good game. ALTHOUGH I wish they would of let me not use the super gyro scope thingy attachment.. ... crap I cant think of that its called
Anywho, other then a few annoyances from said thingy, its an awesome game

I personally Love Skyward. I understand some of the flak it catches, looking at you Fi, but overall I loved it to death, even Fi. Except when she told me what I already knew... for the 1 millionth time...
Started playing Space Marine again. Just rebuilt my desktop to bring into modern specs. I prefer multiplayer. But seems like the player base has decreased significantly since I stopped playing over a year ago.
Been re-playing Oblivion. It's still a really good game, actually. And the quest to Break the Siege of Kvatch, plus closing the Oblivion Gate, is in my opinion more fun than any Civil War quest in Skyrim.
ExNoctemNacimur wrote: Been re-playing Oblivion. It's still a really good game, actually. And the quest to Break the Siege of Kvatch, plus closing the Oblivion Gate, is in my opinion more fun than any Civil War quest in Skyrim.
I played Oblivion on the 360 but I just couldn't warm to it. By the time I'd done all the side quests I'd forgotten what the actual plot was and my part in it
I was the same when I played it first a few years ago! I totally ignored the main story and just played the Shivering Isles questline. Now, I'm actually going to finish the main quest. It's more interesting to me now, and to be honest I think that it's a bit of a better story than the return of the Dragons. I still really want to play Morrowind (but with graphic packs).
Some games benefit from it (saints Row 2), but for some RPG games it can break the immersion. Its hard to reconcile being given the urgent task of saving the world from imminent destruction with fetch quests and pick pocketing

Oh, I completely agree. As much as I love Skyrim, I've put around 230 hours into it, and I haven't even started the civil war quest line .

I just wish that some games (FO3) would allow you to continue playing after beating the main story quest line, in order to not break that immersion... I mean, it's entirely possible to beat skyrim without doing any side quests, but really what fun is that?
That's kinda why I feel Morrowind was the better game, and in a way, Skyrim as well. They have big "Save the World!" questlines, but they're not Time Critical quests. It's boiling political turmoil, ancient beings reawoken and starting to cause trouble, plagues slowly spreading across the world...

You might want to try out Morroblivion- it's a community effort to essentially flesh out the entirety of Morrowind (game and province) within the Oblivion engine, so you can essentially play Morrowind with Oblivion (or better, really) level graphics and combat systems. Though you then lose out on a lot of the neater aspects of enchantment and equipment... If you want the 'true' Morrowind experience, though, there's definitely plenty of graphics and animation replacer packs out there- I'd suggest "Better Bodies" as one, and look at some of the HD graphics mods as well.

If you have Broken Steel installed you can keep playing FO3 after you finish the main storyline. Of course, that's something that should be on the game by default.

Thanks for that!
I've just started Morrowind again. I must say, the opening cutscene is pure class. It's extremely well done. And the graphics aren't quite as shocking as I remembered.

Yes, Broken Steel is pretty much mandatory for FO3 owners.
Coinicidently I'm reinstalling Fallout 3 right now. Which is probably not the best idea seeing as I have exams coming up, and I only see myself adding to the 1000+ hours that I put into that game a few years ago. I could just install New Vegas and use the Requiem for the Capital Wasteland mod to play F3, but I'd rather go back and play the game like it was when I first played it. =)
...Hmn, I'm doubting that this laptop can run that game very well with texture packs install though. My gaming rig melted a few monthes ago. =(
ok should update that all the games I WAS playing are on hold.... just got sucked back into Mount and Blade: Warband. O god I hate deserters....... they just refuse to leave me alone, had a group of them chase me for 4 ingame days before some random lord saved my arse, so I pledged my allegiance to him (go Nords!)
Going to give in to the nostalgia and get Wing Commander from GOG tonight.
That's because "Star Trek" is driving me crazy. No instruction manual, and the on-screen tips seem to be there for a split second, so I'm actually playing the game on instinct. It took me 2 tries at the intro mission to get the fact that "Stun" is another mouse button, not a permanent setting, and it took me about 10 tries and a video walkthrough to get the "Press 'E' to use shields" bit of the space battle. (The guy on the video didn't notice it either, I was only able to read it on pausing the video.)
Playing Fallout: New Vegas, like it so far. playing it on the PS3 and havent ran into any bugs just yet *knock on wood* wondering if buying the DLC is worth it. Suggestions?
Dragon's Dogma. I am still not sure about it, it's either nearly my personal perfect game or incredibly ambitious but hugely flawed. There are so many bizarre and outwardly impenetrable systems in this game but the depth they seem to promise is really intriguing. I've gotta say though this game doesn't really tell you anything.
The combat is good, though the lack of any levels on enemies is a bit annoying as you often run into things you can barely scratch before getting one-shotted. Alot of the skills avoid the typical Action rpg tropes which is nice and they dont fill the screen with ridiculous Particle effects which is something i've always hated about ARPGs like diablo etc. It's actually a pretty difficult game but it's always quite fair, unlike the Witcher 2 which had horrid fiddly combat and cheap enemies.
The story/setting is a bit 'vague', for want of a better word, and what is explained is a bit goofy. The world is just beautiful and most importantly for me, believable. This is one of those games that prove you don't need amazing graphics, as long as everything looks like it should/would be there it will work. The main city in the game is actually a believable size for a medieval town and It is never even said that 'Gransis' is anything more than a province, indeed it is ruled by a 'Duke'
The problems i have with this game is the incredibly miserly loot and the bizarre fast travel system which doesn't really work. I dont have a problem with the overly-chatty AI as they have just enough different quips to not grate too much. The fact the pawns are described as emotionless is kinda a bummer as well, i liked the idea of having a strong camaraderie with my squad. Oh and finally i accidentally made my character look JUST like Mac from It's Always Sunny.
Oh yeah. Personally I think it's better than Oblivion or Skyrim. If they released a 'remastered' version with an actual physics engine and updated graphics, it'd probably sell out- on Steam.
Coolyo294 wrote: BF3. I really wish I had enough memory left on my Xbox to download all the DLCs besides Armoured Kill.
Yo dawg, you already have them (in memory terms), you wouldn't be able to play online if you didn't. You just haven't purchased the keys (which are ~50kb each ). If you buy premium right now you will be playing the new maps within the hour.

There seems to be quite a bit more to do than either of those games, from a first impression. I thought Oblivion was better than Skyrim (and closing a gate to Oblivion is probably one of the most fun things I've done in a game) so Morrowind certainly looks extremely promising.

Not really. I played a couple but wasn't too impressed. Get them if you're absolutely loving New Vegas I guess.

Maybe it's just because I'm an unashamed New Vegas fanboy, but I loved all the DLCs. Old World Blues in particular.
I keep hearing really good things about that...Is it just a typical third person shooter?
OT - I started Red Dead Redemption...again. I never get tired of that game!
It's not entirely typical, there's quite a bit of emphasis on melee combat, special skills based on the warframe(suit) you use. A collectible card system to getting new abilities and mods and a ton of weapons. Levels all have randomized lay outs based on modular portions. That kind of stuff.
For example, I'm using the MAG warframe, which has (like you can imagine) magnetism powers. I can make someone a literal bullet magnet, pull people towards me to deliver a nice charged melee attack, magnetise someones bones and outright crush him... that kind of fun stuff. The gore in the game makes the combat quite satisfying too. Doing a charged melee attack with a blade and watching a Terran Marines torso fly in a different direction then his legs is quite cathartic.

Ohhhh, that sounds pretty cool. I'll have to look more into it now!

Morrowind 3.0 gives you the modern graphics at least, although I don't know about the physics engine.
Been playing Guild Wars 2 now and then. Dipped into Game Dev tycoon swearing blind I would never make an FPS game in it... it ended up as my best seller with a rating of 10,10,10,9. Yea not to good XD Enjoying it though.
Been trying to finish LA Noire up, great game but does get a little repetitive after a while. I rather love the interactive movie feel of it, though. But the controls kinda suck on PC, the game feels very stiff, with sluggish controls. All-in-all, quite a great game especially since I got it for 5 bucks during the Steam holiday sale! Really enjoying this one.
Enjoying the odd game of ME3 Multiplayer still, just love it. Doing some Gold level games now and they're very challenging and fun, requiring a good deal of discipline to succeed at, and very rewarding. Quite a good multiplayer experience here overall.
Playing some Warframe, but I'm very frustrated with how downright STINGY this game is with new guns and weapons. It's an absolutely merciless grind to get even one new gun! The gameplay mechanics and action are quite solid and fun, but they need to be less stingy with letting you get some better guns. It's Beta, so yeah.
Installed Saint's Row 2 after hearing very good things about it on this forum, but haven't gotten very far at all yet.
Also installed Deus Ex Human Revolution, and while it looked good I got very frustrated with the cover mechanics. I really want to like this game, however, as I LOVED the previous Deus Ex games, so I just need to play more. I barely even finished the intro mission.
Also been playing a lot of Injustice on my iPhone, during downtime at work. Quite an enjoyable game if you want to waste a few minutes while the boss isn't looking!
Just now installed Neverwinter beta and going to give it a look-see.
A friend of mine talked me into downloading DUST 514 since he's huge into EVE. It's alright; nothing too special. Tons of stuff to upgrade and level up for being a free-to-play game.

As an EVE player I was interested in this, but I'm out of the loop these days. I thought it was PS3 only, but did they have a PC release? Would be interested in it if it was on PC...

It's still PS3 only if I remember correctly. But, I've joined his corporation, and we had chat and he can assist me in-game (by providing air strikes). I'll be playing more today to get a better feel for it.
Just finished Tomb Raider. Absolutely loved it. Lara's character and story is just epic, although why she doesn't loot a coat off a bad guy is beyond me.It must be cold in the snow!
Just about to step outside and play weed whacking Once the lawn is done and the rest of the house is in order I'll probably try and finish up Dragon Age Origins. A playthrough and a reload and playthrough with my good Elf mage for the last of the story achievements, then just a quick trot through the last of the opening prologues.
Just blasted through(the remaining part of) Black Ops 2 the last couple of days. I need to replay it fully to understand what the hell just happened.
I must admit that I was very surprised by the choices you can make within the game, they actually impact the last couple of missions and the ending. This in a CoD game just blew my mind, some RPGs can't do this well yet an FPS which is considered a cash out has added something different to the rest of the series. Can't wait to see how Treyarch pushes out new ideas with the next CoD game.
I never bought GTA4 and the last similar game I played was RDR, so I am enjoying it rather more than I thought I would. Not upset I did not buy it, but definitely worth the current price!
As I have recenlty changed my PC and got a massive boost in capability, I've just finished re-installing all my old games and installing a couple of classics, so I am getting round to play the original Supreme Commander, Forged Alliance, and forged Alliance Forever, plus the full series of Wing Commander I to IV.
Am also thinking of getting the new XCOM as I have finshed the new Star Trek game before watching the new film which I hope to do this weekend.
Playing Red Orchestra 2, got back into it again after a long absence, nothing like a good bit of carnage on the Eastern-front every now and then.
Can't wait for Rising Storm, don't see many Pacific War FPS around much, Modern warfare this and that these days, makes me wonder when WW2 games are going to become popular again...Ah well until that day comes I have RO2.
I buckled and started trying out Dragons Prophet. Its brings nothing really new to the table as far as I can tell. It does feel very WoW-ish, but the action based combat will most likely have me playing it for a while(well I bloody hope so, I dropped £70 on it).
deathholydeath wrote: Witcher 2 atm. Great game, but fething controls give me a headache.
Witcher 2's combat is abominable, i would recommend sticking it on Easy and just enjoying the fantastic story. The total lack of feedback on your block, the weird floating dodge that doesn't give you immunity and the fact Geralt has the turning speed of an Oil tanker but his enemies whip around at lightspeed if you manage to start backstabbing them. Those are just flaws with the mechanics, i haven't even touched on how Unresponsive the controls are and i was playing on 360 controller, which is actually the recommended setup! .
The Map system/Quest signposting and Inventory is also really badly done, it reminded me of the, absolutely awful, game Risen in that regard. CD projekt developer: 'You know what's are a reallly good idea! Making all three of our hub towns linear mazes instead of open spaces, herpy derp'. I think Witcher 2 is a DEEPLY flawed game. The only thing that makes the combat bearable is liberal use of spells.
On-Topic, still Dragon's Dogma, starting to really enjoy it. If you can forgive a game for a shaky five or so hours at the start, no fast travel early on (fast travel requires the use of tokens and markers, you'll have very few for the opening 12 or so hours), a pretty vague and opaque setting/story (not quite in the cool dark souls way unfortunately) and the inability to give specific instructions to your team (their AI is about the best i've ever seen though, to be fair). You will love this game, plus it's only £20 (RRP ) brand new with a second post game mega-dungeon and a couple improvements.

Dragons Dogma has been one of the better games I'v played from Capcom in a while. Granted its nothing spectacular but I payed £40 for it and felt like I got my moneys worth. There are a few bug bears with the game but its still a very good game that I recommend, even more so with it being £20 now.
As for the game I'm playing atm. Its a real mix of different games. I'm just jumping from one to the other. I should probably settle on one and play it for a bit.
I picked up a Wii for $50 a while back, and I just borrowed my brother's copy of Super Smash Bros Brawl. Just grinding through, trying to unlock all the characters. Plenty of fun, but I think I enjoyed Smash Bros Melee more.
Touted as "Skyrim with Guns" I can definately say that that's the way the game is for me. In that although I'm impressed by the technical feat this game is, its beautiful enviroments and how hard it must have been to create....I'm just not really having that much fun.
Just finished up Silent Hill 2 for the millionth time and am now playing through Silent Hill 3 again. Just bought Silent Hill 4: The Room off eBay last night as well, so I'll play that after I beat SH3. Silent Hill has always been my favorite gaming series. It's always nice to go back and play through them.

On topic: Bastion. I really haven't been feeling video gaming lately, but Bastion is really fun for a quick relax session.
Doing my final playthrough of Dragon Age for the last achievement (all the endings). It never ceases to amaze me that Leliana, the weakest companion and rogue, is always the one to finish off the heaviest hitters in the game - dragons, orge alphas, bosses etc. 9 times out of 10 she is the one to get the final hit

My only memories of that series are the horrendous loading times and the overly complex/crap combat system. I'dve loved to get into the story (the books were great), but the execution of the game hampered me from getting into it. The rips from it that appeared as mods for Skyrim were fun though. =)
Putting the *disappointment of Bioshock:Infinite behind me i'm currently playing through the original Bioshock on my iMac, using a Wineskin Wrapper. Rapture is soooo much better than Columbia
* I understand that that view will be taken grimly on Dakka, and would like to point out that it's merely a personal preference.....
Dragon Age completed, with Leliana doing what she does best and up staging the tanks to kill the Archdemon I might start Hitman Contracts now, I'm not really in the mood to achievement hunt in some other games

I am only about 10 hours into FC3, and keep in mind I played Bioshock: Infinite before hand, but I think it's a very solid single player FPS. On a scale of 1-10, where 5 is an average game and worth playing, I'd give FC3 a 6.5. (For compaison, B:I gets a 4.5.) So, considering that against the launch price, I'd say FC3 is probably worth about forty of your dollars.
Thanks, it was one of those games that I heard about coming up to release and then it dropped off the radar. I usually have a lot of time for Ubisoft games (especially Ghost Recon and Rainbow 6 series').
I might look into it more later. We have wedding number 2 coming up (last year we had to JoP it, this year its the Church wedding), my family coming over and the reception so our money is pretty well spent already
Just want to say regarding this, I don't go for industry-style reviews where anything less than 8 is bad. For me, 5 = a solid game that is worth playing but should be purchased for about $20 or less. On that scale, B:I is <5 IMO.
X-Com is something that I'm interested in but with lack of funds and an existing backlog its going to have to wait a wee bit. The last time I played a turn based strategy game was Final Liberation so I may be rusty
Yea X-com is quite a nice game but there are a few thing that irk me. Mostly random class selection, not being able to change nationality for the soldiers.
Luckily most of these can be bypassed with a mod. Only used the mod to get rid of some annoying things and to create a squad based on me(sniper), my brother(sniper), my gf(support) and my best friend(heavy) just to have characters I care about so I don't lose em by doing something stupid.
I picked up up few days ago when it was £10 on steam. Good game thus far, should have picked it up sooner.
Modding around random class selection defeats part of the point of the game, which is working with the hand dealt you. Modding around random nationality strikes me as pointless given that it is 100% cosmetic.

Unfortunately X-COM was on Steam sale -66% like three or four days ago. If I see it somewhere I'll give you a heads up. As other people here I definitely recommend it.
And yes, Bioshock: I is definitely not as good as they say.
As for the main topic. Approaching 60th day on Don't Starve. Finally made the game my b.
Also, because System Shock 2 hit the Steam I'll probably be playing it in the near future. It's one of my favourite games ever.
Glory to The Many. I am a voice in their choir!

Granted that the nationality thing is purely cosmetic then it doesn't affect the gameplay, its more for authenticity than anything. Given I created me and my group I wanted them to be as close to themselves as possible. Having my character run around with a Chinese flag was not what I would call authentic. I also only used the mod to set classes for 4 people, only to designate roles that I thought would fit with the person I named, I know for a fact my best mate would not be running around trying to heal people, he would want the biggest gun possible. Once again its an authentic thing. Once I have a bit of fun with this squad I do plan on doing an Ironman play through where everything is set to "default".

I agree with Manchu, the whole point of the game is working with what you got. Figuring out solutions to the problems presented. Anyway the authenticity you are speaking of isn't one of a real world nature but rather one of trying to recreate your friends.
@Manchu. To me games with a score of less than 5/10 are ones that actually have technical problems and bugs. Games that are actually broken. So a 5.0 game could be a game that is actually horrible but works properly.
I prefer a x/5 system anyway. On that scale a 3/5 game is actually pretty good.
Just started Hitman Absolution and I'm hugely impressed with it, although I was surprised to see Traci Lords named in the opening credits http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traci_Lords
I only ever played the 1st one of that game, but it was awesome fun!
Just been playing 'FTL' (faster than light). Really fun indy game - you pilot a starship through space, and have random events each time you play - come across a ship stranded in space, do you help it or shoot it? A colony being overwhelmed by giant spider creatures - do you risk teleporting your crew down to help, and possibly lose some of them (even though you may get a reward?) Really, really fun, I've died every time I've played it but that doesn't take anything away from it.
As of right now I'm knee deep in Neverwinter. Not Neverwinter nights but rather the new MMO titled "Neverwinter" which is in Open Beta right now. Don't be fooled by Open Beta though, the game is live and there will be no more character wipes going forward, and to be quite honest the game is finished IMO. Perfect World Entertainment has a history of doing "Soft Launches" which are called open beta...but the game is done and is really quite awesome!
Neverwinter is also a "Free to Play" game. No charge to download the game and no subscription required, and it is quite easy to stay free too unless you want the latest and greatest Mount, or Pet etc... To me the graphics and physics are just great, better than a lot of non MMO's and to me better than almost any MMO I've played. Also, the combat mechanics are quite unique and not the typical "Target/Tab/Spam" method. Positional fighting is the word of the day, and is very engaging.
I've been quite burned out on MMO's for some time now, but Neverwinter has me hooked again. I recommend it highly and since it's free there is no risk to give it a shot.
Just Started playing the first Torchlight. A funny story about that: I had already played Torchlight 2 a little bit, and LOVED it. But it stopped working on the computer it was on. (We have 2 computers) So I went a and bought on the other one, which is a better gaming computer. Well as it turned out, I (not paying a whole lot of attention) bought the ORIGINAL ONE by mistake. I still like it but not as much as the second one. Oh well...

Did they ever re-balance the Alchemist in the game? I remember playing it on the 360 and all you had to do was have a herd of summoned creatures and a decent gun
Wait... You went to buy a second copy of the game... for a second computer? You know, I dont' think I've ever heard of any sort of game buying system or DRM that doesn't have a way for you to put the same 'copy' of the game on multiple computers...
A friend of mine wanted to start a new game with new characters; and to lure me back actually paid for "Krieg the Psycho" character as it 'screamed your playstyle'.
To be fair he was absolutely right. There is something so satisfying about playing a raving madman hurling axes with dynamite strapped to them at people.

I downloaded Torchlight 2 one one computer, but I couldn't figure out how to transfer the game. So I bought it on the other one, but I bought the wrong one.

I dunno. I'm just playing it casually for fun. Difficulty easy and all that.
Replaying Fallout: New Vegas. After having just replayed Fallout 3 I can say that it outshines 3 by far. New Vegas feels as though there's just so much more to it, rather than only having content where there's quest important things. That the game's written by people that know that a plot doesn't have to be black and white too is pretty refreshing after 3 too. ...Where even though you may get a little karma ping for doing something, that's not to say that one good deed's not going to lead to bad things in the long run... =P
Borrowed Metroid: Other M from my brother...and needless to say, I'm glad I didn't spend any money on it. I stopped playing after about two and a half hours. My main gripe being the controls and the way you replinish health and missiles. After that, I went on to Metroid Prime 3 for a second play-through
Black Ops 2 is what killed FPS for me. I'm cautiously skeptical about Ghosts, hoping they're moving somewhat away from the spray and pray style of deathmatch that became so prevalent. Borderlands is a decent fix for my FPS needs though, and it appeals to my love of RPG's as well.
Lint wrote: Black Ops 2 is what killed FPS for me. I'm cautiously skeptical about Ghosts, hoping they're moving somewhat away from the spray and pray style of deathmatch that became so prevalent.
What killed me about the Ghosts trailer is that it looks sooooo dated. I was really hoping for a new game engine with this one...Other than that, sounds neat I suppose...
Bio shock infinite was stunning and one of the first games I have played that eye infinity works perfectly on. The only issue was the ending. Complete head bake. And was very well bland.
Also I loved the new tomb raider. Worked very well. And even though they took the play style from uncharted it worked brilliantly. And it didn't look like a typical console port either they actually bothered to up the graphics for the pc.
Lint wrote: Black Ops 2 is what killed FPS for me. I'm cautiously skeptical about Ghosts, hoping they're moving somewhat away from the spray and pray style of deathmatch that became so prevalent..
Modern Warfare 2 knocked my enthusiasm for some FPS, but it really put me off the Call of Duty series. I seen the reveal for Ghosts, and all I could think of was how many of their brand new features are old hat for some games (corner leaning and customisation in particular - hello Rainbow 6 )
I really didn't care for COD:BO2. Seems like each iteration in the series is trying to out do the last in gratuitous violence. This one featured a young girl being burned alive.
Just finished the MW3 campaign and am extremely close to finishing Black Ops 2. I didn't enjoy either of them and it just proves to me that you can make a bland, repetitive, predictable game and still make millions when you market it well.
MW3 SPOILERS:
Spoiler:
I must admit, however, right at the end when you hang the main enemy I said "Hang Around" and am still laughing about it now.

It was the "No Russian" mission in COD4. The one so brutal you could skip it if you wanted. It got them a lot of press and now they carry on like children acting out to get attention. The next game they blow up a kid in front of you, then they burn a little girl alive then smash her head open on a mirror. (all skippable scenes so they don't come off as jerks). I'm sure a child will be raped to death in the next one.

No Russian was Modern Warfare 2. It was the nuke that was in CoD4 (aka Modern Warfare)
For the record, I enjoyed the airport massacre in MW2. It reminded me of the old Amiga game "Lemmings" and the hours of fun I had trying to find awesome ways to splatter all of my lemmings. In many ways I never grew up.
Dreadclaw69 wrote: I think ever since the nuke scene in Modern Warfare they've been trying to get the "OMG!!!" moment in every single one.
I still think my favorite part of the Modern Warfare series was the mission "Whiskey Hotel". Seeing the White House in ruins and having to take it back from the Russians was such a huge "Whoa" factor for me.

Right sorry, I meant the CoD with the shooting in it.

Surely thats, err.... All of them, right?
I have to admit it was Black Ops 1 that put me off CoD, I enjoyed MW and MW2, but Black Ops just annoyed me, so I never got MW3, or BO2, and I'm probably not going to get Ghosts either. I still play CoD 2 quite a lot though, damn that's an awesome game!
Wow funny how I somehow managed to start a CoD discussion. When it comes to the games, the only real one that "put me off" was MW3 when I played online. I vowed only to pick them up for the story from then on, Black Ops 2 made me want to try the multiplayer again. Must say I'm enjoying playin FPS games again.
Now onto games I'm playing, picked up some indie games via various bundles so playing through them atm, some not so good and some very good games from em.
You know I played Pandemic 2 but hell if I can remember it past that I can say though, PlagueINC is super fun. Its a typical freemium layout,so some things will take awhile to unlock if you don't fork out cash, but so far I've been on it for several hours total and still keep trying
I think it's a game that I will legitimately never get bored of. There's not really anything else like it (other Bethesda games nonwithstanding), and mods just add a silly amount of new content.
Finally picked up the new Tomb Raider...and holy gak, I'm really loving it so far. Normally I'm not a big fan of button-mashing and QTEs, but it's been working really well so far.
The one thing I'm enjoying the best is Lara Croft's reaction to everything that's going on...they make it very clear that she's out of her element, and nothing like Nathan Drake or Indiana Jones (in terms of "adventuring archeologists").

Well congratulations and agreed! The game is a true gem me thinks. Also it had some rather nice enemies & challenges.
For the moment I am slugging my way trough Far Cry 3 for the fourth or fifth time. And my god this game gets so much more enjoyably when you ramp up the difficulty level

Oh man, you're not kidding. The first time I had to actually fight bad guys was definitely an eye-opener And I always find myself walking around looking for journals/artifacts and hunting animals.
i shall be playing more World of Warplanes beta because i will not turn down 10k free gold for playing during E3, i also want to get my beta tester free plane.
Iam enjoying dead island only wished they fixed the same bugs that occur as in the first one and occasionally some of the boards feel like there from the first one, i like that i can import the characters i used from the first game.
Just beat Injustice for the iPhone, excited to see my prize for beating every level...and it's just unlocking the Superman Prison outfit for the console. Sigh. Enjoyed playing as Scorpion on the console though, seeing how he's not even officially out yet, but the trick to DL him works! Have season pass, download Doomsday update patch, download Scorpion from inside the game, not from marketplace. Waiting excitedly for the next TMNT game too.
Planetside 2, Blacklight: Retribution, and Doom 3. Before that was Skyrim and Dark Souls. Planetside 2 is pretty amazing. I started ranking in the top ten for kills on the west coast server playing infantry. I'm taking a break for awhile. That game is fun.
I honestly somewhat prefer Blacklight:Retribution to PS2. Planetside2's been fun since I got a computer that doesn't cry out in agony from trying to run the unoptimized PoS the Forgelight engine apparently is, but I just think the sheer customizability of Blacklight is superior.
Skyrim. I have been playing my 3rd character. A pure mage. Its tough. When you get hit, you lose health quick. I often get two-shotted if I let my magic armor time out.
I am also waiting for SW:TOR to install on my pathetic DSL connection. Looking forward to giving it another shot now that it's free. Started a Sith inquisitor on my free trial a while back.
Just started playing Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception... Fething loved the first two, am really looking forward to getting my teeth into it. Also playing Blood Bowl:CE and a re-jigged Streets Of Rage on my iMac....
shrike wrote: restarting fallout: new vegas for the fifth time. Still can't bring myself to side with the legion, they're all too horrible in every way.
The genocide and slavery is pretty bad, but I think the Legion's most heinous crime is wearing those godawful skirts.
As for me, I'm giving Knights of the Old Republic another go. It's a lot better than I remembered.
Been going through both KOTOR and KOTOR 2 in between mucking about in the full Wing Commander series, (including Privateer which I just can't get to grips with.) and getting to grips with Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance.
shrike wrote: restarting fallout: new vegas for the fifth time. Still can't bring myself to side with the legion, they're all too horrible in every way.
Yes they are, though Cris Avellone did say that they were underrepresented due to time constraints. Still, between a democratic nation struggling to survive (and with technology) and a close minded barbaric dictatorship (that's killed all the major threats to themselves), I think I'd go with the former. Too much of the plotline of the New Vegas is shown from the NCR/ anti Legion representative. If they had maybe displayed more of the Legion than its military side (ie a few Legion settlements), maybe they would have come off better, but I doubt it. The developers did acknowledge this, but said that what the Legion did kind of worked in retrospect with the Romans. Whether its applicable in the game's setting is up to the player. =P
Currently putting in another few hundred into New Vegas (no shucks..), and having another go at Mount and Blade. My issue with Mount and Blade is how much grinding you have to go through. I mean I've put plenty of time into the series as a whole, but it always gets me coming back to it that the first couple of hours are a pain.
Odd how guns become much more inaccurate as time progresses. A homemade rifle in Fire and Sword can be pretty precise, and yet you can stand right next to a soldier in Napoleonic Wars and have your shot miss the guy by a clear margin.

181 hours into Mount and Blade, 407 into Fallout.
and yeah, I hate starting Mount and blade.
But there's nothing like the feeling of power you get when you first use a double-barreled dutch pistol in fire and sword "all you puny mortals with your four-round-a-minute fire rate!"
and yeah, but Napoleonic wars is probably the funniest game to play online... I haven't seen a single match where it's taken seriously
0.0 There's a double barreled pistol? I've put seventeen hours into that and never seen one. The amount of times I've been knocked out by a peasant with a home made rifle in that game. ...Still running about with a brace of pistols is always fun, if woefully impractical.
Piper + standing by a breach in a fort's wall = hours of fun/cheating death as people rush by you to their own demise. =)
I'm playing the campaign in warband right now. At the moment I'm pining to ally with the Swadians (as they're typically the first nation for me to bump off and I felt like a change). The annoyance is that they've decided to start a little war with the Rhodoks and the Sultanate (with another two border skirmishes with the Nords and the Vaegirs). ...So I now need to wait for them to force a peace less I annoy almost every other faction in the land. Its as though King Harlaus really is trying to do his damnedest to lose all his territory or something.
Though then again maybe he heard that I was coming and thought his nation would be better off fending against every other nation than having me as an ally. =/

I've been getting back into Mass Effect 3's multiplayer.. haven't done it in a while, lots of new classes to unlock. So far my favorite new one is the Vorcha with a flamer.
Ever played the board game Saga? Its a bit like that...
Its a game about feudalism really. You play as a mercenary out to make a name for themselves. This amounts to you travelling about a *not middle ages Europe/Arabia building an army, ingratiating yourself to the nobles/kicking them about because they're all tools and leaving small villages destitute after you've raided them for the twelth time.
There's RPG elements such as character stats and equipment, though most of the game is based around the battles. You could just chuck about being a mercenary, but the later game really comes down to you forging an empire. Said empire will most likely have you as the head though, because again, most of the nobles are annoying as hell (as in their all self serving/better than thou unless you spend a bit of time doing tasks for them).
Warband usually goes for a few pounds at the most in the steam sales, so its worth a go. ...Just don't ally with the Swadians. I've had the king throwing feasts even as his enemies swoop in to take his castles and ...steal the food going to his feast. =P
I got my character's standing with King Harlus up to 30 before I allied with him just for that reason. So far I've single handedly captured three castles for him, and killed more people than anyone else when taking Veluca. Typically however when asking who the new fiefs go to none of the other lords (bar the odd one) say that they should go to the one that actually captured them... ¬¬
Harluas gave me the first castle I took, despite the other lords disapproval. If he doesn't give me the other couple I'll oppose him and rebel. Time to instill a regime that's half competent/rewards people for their actions, not just their standing. =P
It does speak of just how contrived society was back then though...

It's in Fire and sword, you order it for a lot of thaler from a weapons master, once you hire one in a town.
ExNoctemNacimur wrote:And the Swadian bastard keeps all the captured fiefs!
yup, he does that. I captured five from the sarranids, whilst outnumbered each time, and he gave me one. I rebelled, retook all those castles, then stormed through all of the sultanate and swadia. ATM, all that's left is the last of the Rhodoks (no castles left) and the Nords, who I've avoided all game due to my army being like 70% huscarls (which are, incidentally, awesome).
It's my experience of the game that Swadia gets crushed pretty quickly, due to the king being an idiot and it being surrounded on all sides. Sarranids are weak too, they really don't stand up in sieges due to their light armour. Toughest for me are the Rhodoks (lots of anti-armour, so they're bad for Swadians/Nords) and Nords, whose massive shields, heavy armour and brutal axes make them the best heavy infantry in the game by far, especially during sieges.

I have found that an army comprised almost solely of Swadian Knights, and Sarranid mounted archers is nothing short of BA, you can pretty much run anything down with that army (and putting a few perks into map traveling, etc.)

I have two armies- one for travelling around with (mostly mercenary cavalry and swadian knights) and one for sieges (mostly nord huscarls). Both of these are accompanied by around 30 either Rhodok or Vaegir marksmen, depending on whether I'm up against heavy or light armour, and whichever army I'm not with is stuck in Halmar or Tulga (I forget which).
As for what Im playing, I cannot (and will not) ever stop playing Dwarf Fortress.
I'm not going to lie, that game sounds pretty interesting. I'll have to check into that when I get home from work...
Beware. Dwarf Fortress is essentially what would happen if you took Minecraft, added every mod ever, and distilled it into a pure sandbox game. It has ASKII graphics (uses letters and symbols instead of pictures), utilizes pretty much every key on the keyboard for controls without touching the mouse, and will engulf your life while your little dwarves go insane and try to drink flagons of lava.
Mostly I'm playing Wargame: AirLand Battle and Blacklight: Retribution. With a side order of Company of Heroes (the revised Steam version with all the expansions) and Guild Wars 2.
Swadian Knights? Please, Sarranid Mamlukes are the best! My army currently is pretty multi-racial. I used to have a pure Huscarl army, but now it's mostly Vaegir Knights (because they look cool) and Mamlukes, with Khergit Horse Archers and a bodyguard of elite Swadian Knights.
It's awesome, but watch some tutorials first.
The ASCII problem can be dealt with by using Tilesets, Mayday Green is an old favourite of mine.
As for the difficulty curve (which is more of a cliff than a curve, really), then the wiki has getting started guids and can probably answer
most of your questions.
Knights? Huscarls? No, Sword Sisters are where its at. I've managed to get fifty of them thus far (and god are they a bitch to find). =)
Having reloaded a save from before I stuck in my lot with King Harlaus, I've chosen to start setting up for my own takeover. Thus far the Kingdom of the Nords has fallen to its rebels, and the Sarranid Sultanate is soon to follow. The Vaegirs were somehow wiped out by the ai a few days ago too. My plan is to instill the rebel lords in those countries that I've got a meh reputation with, then when the time comes bunk them off one by one (with none of the other nations opposing me due to having such a high reputation with the lords I put in power).
I'll be leaving Harlaus in power though. ...Only because I have a high reputation with him, and that he's already letting country fall apart without my help. Oh, and that he's a sexist tool. =P

Awesome, thanks for the tips. I'll creep around Youtube tonight, and see what I can find.

Yeah, that was my least favorite part of MGS4. Hell, most of Act 3 was nothing but cut scenes! However, I'm pretty sure that problem was addressed with MGS5...
Went back to Darksouls, decided that I need to beat that game at least once before 2 comes out.
Made a new character cause I can't be arsed to continue with my cleric who didn't like that much the last time I played it. I only got to anor londo anyway.
Played a bit of Halo 4, Although the level design (Aside from the lovely visuals) isn't very good, the core loop (or 'sandbox' like they desperately want us to say) of the combat is great, better than the sterile Halo 3 (the weakest bungie halo game). I think once you realise how to kill those robot knights a bit more efficiently the game becomes alot more enjoyable.
I noticed at one point early on, walking through one large room, pressing a button and having a cutscene, then walking through another, pressing a button and having another cutscene. In a row with no combat inbetween.
What's more, for a little while i didn't realise i was playing on normal instead of heroic which shows 343 almost solved the problem Bungie have had since H2 of normal being too easy. Don't get me wrong i love Heroic but there are always difficulty spikes that emerge from the weaker vehicles and tougher enemy vehicles.

Its a game I should like but I just can't get into it, just like the first one.
Currently I am playing some World Of Tanks (but the new patch isn't agreeing with me), Crusader Kings 2 and some Star Trek Online. I have recently felt like playing Day Z again so it is currently DLing via Steam.

Once you take care of the enemies that resurrect and/or shield them
- charged plasma pistol shot and DMR/BR shot to the head
- shotgun/scattershot
Solves almost all Promethean Knight infestations. It's a shame that the best way to engage them is so similar to the Elites.

I think Xcom is like an abusive relationship. You love it but it beats you too a pulp but you like it an keep coming back.

1. Use cover. Take forever if you have to, but always use cover.
2. What kind of equipment are you packing?
3. Positioning. Don't move your sniper with the squad. He/she moves into cover and the
squad follows at a safe distance on overwatch. The following turn your sniper will be free
to shoot and your squad can uncover enemies for the sniper to shoot at.
Been replaying Fallout New Vegas again after a hiatus due to exams as well as other familial stuff to go through. Mainly been finishing up the DLC's; particularly Old World Blues. It's really awkward when a disembodied brain and a light-switch can be both be disconcertingly sensuous and seductive at the same time. That and calling your hands penis-tipped appendages...
Other than that Borderlands 2. Gunzerkers are the definition of Dakka Dakka!

1 Do
2: 2 snipers, a heavy, 2 support and a sqaud. All with laser or plasma weapons.
3: Ok.
4: I know.
Usually it's just best to wait a while if the Base is too hard but you should be able to get through it with laser and plasma weapons. Perhaps your squad is underarmoured?

@Shrike Yes! The toaster is absolutely hilarious! I love all the comments they murmur when you pass by them, like when the toaster tries to trick you to stick your hand down it's slot in it's attempt to burn you it's definitely one of the most flavourful and entertaining DLC's especially considering how wonderfully incompetent the Think Tank is. I really felt sad for Gabe though, I'm happy I made Borous realized what he had done, even if it was just for a little while.
@hotsauceman1 I actually finished Dead Money before Old World Blues, I kind of went backward accidentally by doing the Lonesome Road first then Honest Hearts, Dead Money and now Old World Blues. By far in terms of gameplay I think that Dead Money is the weirdest in the sense that you can't bring any of your stuff with you making it really awkward due to needing to use the Holorifle and some crappy guns if you're ranged. Luckily I had my repair skill at 100 already so I was able to maintain them relatively well thanks to Weapon Repair Kits. The story was great, gameplay not so much thanks to the explosive collar and the stupid speakers blowing you up. If it wasn't for Christine (bless her heart) or Dog as companions it would have been hell to finish. It really sucks you can't bring her back to Veronica to make up and all. Overall it had a very nice melancholic feel to it and I felt sad at the end after the whole "letting go" speech by Vera Keyes.
If anything Honest Hearts was the most surprising from the inclusion of Christianity (even if it came from non-orthodox sects like Mormons) and that it survived even after the purging flame of the apocalypse. Seeing Joshua Graham and his attempts for redemption by returning to the path of Christ was very nice, though I did kill him a few times to see how hard he was before I reloaded my saves...
Christianity's been in a lot of the Fallout games (there's an odd, but real sect operating in Rivet City). The Mormons were meant to be one of the factions in the original Fallout 3. Thus when people are saying "where's New Canaan anyway" they really mean "pity we had to cut all that". In Honest Hearts it turns out New Canaan's been razed ...as well the original game was set a decade or so before and presumably because the player wasn't there to save them they eventually got killed off by the tribals ...again. =)
The Mormons are shown in a pretty good light in the games. As well in the world of Fallout it doesn't matter to people much if you have quirky beliefs, only that you're good people. Though we could talk about the Children of the Cathedral a little about that one...
Though Honest Hearts is the second DLC, it has more ties to the main plot than the DLC's subplot. So I'd suggest that it be the first played. Dead Money's great though. I *always play a guns character, however I seem to find myself going from 15 Melee to 60 during the process of it simply because cosmic knives and the like are so much more efficient. ...Its hellish to play on hardcore though. ...And with mods that quantruple the damage done to unarmored characters.
Currently replaying New Vegas (again... again). This time my character's a balled hispanic woman named Marcella. Typically all her points are in speech (I hate loosing out on dialogue options, and yes, Chris Avellone is a god to me). Presumably it isn't the best idea to be running about in a tshirt and khakis, but I'm not into the look of the armours on the player ...not that they look bad, I just don't like how they look on my character ...because that makes some sort of sense. I found an ACOG sight in some loot yesterday too. However somehow I'm yet to find any M series weapons that can hold it. Something about wastelands and everyone being armed with AKs ...not that I'm running about with an AKMS or anything. =)

Hm, didn't know that. I only played Fallout 3 then New Vegas so I'm relatively new to the Fallout Franchise, thanks for the info! I understand the dislike towards armour on the player though, especially in terms of female characters. The way they structure her figure makes her butt awkwardly stick out oddly enough even in power armour and helmets from combat armour sets (especially the later advanced ones) look really silly since they seem a bit oversized. To be honest only certain sets of power armour and of course the sexy veteran ranger combat armour (or the riot gear variants from Honest Hearts/The Lonesome Road) really capture the killing machine that is our protagonist is. Have to agree on the speech part too, nothing like getting someone to open up to you and get free goodies in the process!
^^ Oh its not because I want to see her smexy bodeh or anything. My male characters don't wear armour either actually. I also use body mods/animation replacers, so they look more natural. There's plenty of mods out there that redesign the armour to better fit female characters (no, not redesigning as in changing them into shoe laces), but I'm just not really into having my character done up like a soldier. Instead I prefer to arm up for long hauls, ie a few more cans of beans instead of a fancy combat helmet. This is mostly for roleplaying, ie its probably not a good idea to be travelling about a desert for extended periods in a suit of heavy armour.
.......Yes, I do roleplay to a horrible degree at times. Like dropping my backpack with everything but my character's gun, a few clips, grenades and a canteen when going into combat (though this actually gives an AP boost for sprinting/bullet time), or having a gas mask hotkeyed for when the geiger counter starts going tic tic tic, or maybe just when going into some maintenance hallways where there could be some exposed gas. Playing without a compass also goes a ways for this too. You learn to slink about abandoned buildings, peering around every corner, after the x time you ran into a room only to be blasted away by a guy with a pistol. ...Yeah, that tshirt and khakis really doesn't hold up to bullets. =)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. does also happen to be a favorite of mine if you hadn't guessed. ^^
There's actually a perk from a popular mod that allows you to blow up people's brains with your mind based on your speech skill. ...Not that I'd risk my roleplaying experience to take it or anything.

O.O REALLY? That mod would be amazing and hilarious! I have the PS3 version of new vegas so I've never been able to download any mods in particular. Sounds like you're having a blast though, and again to each their own as I understand the dedication to your roleplay especially considering it is an RPG afterall. The farthest I've gone with role-play in my time in playing New Vegas was properly showing my allegiance to whatever faction I was allied with by wearing their armour/colours and having specific trophies (i.e. I kept and brought decapitated heads (particularly NCR heads) to my safehouses/homes during my tenure as a Caesar's Legion Character or when I put a pile of Legionnaire corpses as my NCR character in front of Nelson and lit it up with my flamer as a sort of challenge/death threat).
Thanks for the advice guys on how to work this, I made it through the base, Not a single loss, although two of my guys where gravely injured. It also helped to have 5 plasma weapons

Lonesome road is my favourite DLC. OWB has more content, but as far as the main questlines go, Lonesome road is epic. Ulysses is great, and there's nothing like at the end where you go back-to-back against the horde. Plus, the various veteran ranger armours are epic
Still haven't bought Dead money, I've not heard that many great things from my friends about it compared to the others. Were they correct in such comments?
Dead Money's unlike the vanilla game a lot. Well unless you play up the survival aspects of the game. Its not as open, and you find yourself searching everywhere for resources. You have to pay attention more to the story too, as a lot of its given through your companion's dialogue and terminal entries. ...Though Chris Avellone's a bit of a too with some of the stuff. Ie if you choose to repeatedly question the ego centric ghoul character then he'll show you just how he feels about you (though if you don't talk to him at all and be nice to him when you first meet you may not even know this happens).
The devs actually supposed that most players would go away with the bad ending because they wouldn't get the message. All of the DLC's have the motif of "letting go" and seeing stuff past your open problems, but apparently most people didn't really get this (they say "let go" a few thousand times. Its literally spray painted/written in blood on the walls). If you've not played it then you may not get that, and so your decisions in the latter ones might not be influenced as much.
I'd recommend you play it just to have played all of the game's content (and not as if it costs that much now). =P

- charged plasma pistol shot and DMR/BR shot to the head

Solves almost all Promethean Knight infestations. It's a shame that the best way to engage them is so similar to the Elites.
I thought the shotgun was TERRIBLY underpowered in this game. I preferred the Battle Rifle to kill the Watchers and to knock down/weaken their shields, and the Assault Rifle to finish them off. The Light Rifle does a great job too, in my opinion (but only in campaign ).

One word, Suppressor. You can kill the knights with one mag. The suppressor is USELESS in ANY other scenario though. Killing the watchers is obvious, i just found the knights a little too bullet spongey in general. I always play with 'tough luck' on (ever since ODST) and the plasma pistol usually gets dodged, or they do that cheap teleport thing.
I found the exploration the weakest part of FC3. If i needed a new ammo pouch i just looked for the relevant animal map marker, fast travelled, popped the yellow detective-vision syringe and shotgunned the creature. Job done in about five minutes.
Ive been playing New vegas. I cant believe people are saying the DLC pack in the Big MT is good. I am slogging my way through it and it very nearly put me off the game completely, i stopped playing FNV 4 months ago because of it. The instances are good but the overworld is horrible, you are forced to fight huge waves of Lobomites and robot dogs every time you want to walk 5 yards, its really obnoxious. At least it gives you 2 freakishly overpowered weapons, otherwise i would have been completely stuck. To be fair to the game, sneak is pretty broken and that was my choice of character, meaning he's hopelessly underpowered unless he's indoors.
I started CoC Dark Corners of the Earth last night and it's a great game (for $10) but also a prime example of why I hate playing games on PC: tons of crashes in Windows 7 that require various resolution and AA settings ... I only have X time to chill out with video games these days. I don't need to spend X/2 googling unofficial patches and fixes ... For any dedicated PC gamer (who is used to that malarkey and has the time for it), I'd really recommend this game. The escape from Innsmouth is pitch-perfectly harrowing. I think people who are less familiar with HP Lovecraft might even enjoy this game more than those who are, given that you have more to piece together and learn as the story progresses. I also love the sanity mechanic in this game. What an underrated gem ... when it works at least ...

Haha, very true. I'd use the Suppressor if the Assault Rifle wasn't an option (which seemed to be often), and it did pretty well against Knights.
As for Far Cry, I can see where you're coming from. I'll agree that the animals are a little too plainly marked on the maps. But right now, I'm trying to avoid using the syringe perks and fast travel. Makes the game way more interesting. But I just love exploring, and checking out the scenery. I stumbled across a huge ravine...that was filled with water, and perfect for jumping into...not to mention all the caves and hidden buildings and temples where relics are located.

The shotgun really isn't great, but it does do wonders up close against Elites and Knights. When my wife and I were playing one of us would agitate them from afar, the other would get close with a shotgun (or if we were really lucky an assassination).

I never thought to try them, good tip. The Suppressor and SAW always struck me as inferior Assault Rifles that were less powerful, more inaccurate, but had a larger magazine.

The SAW was pretty meh in the campaign, but it's brutal online. With the high ROF, it tears down shields pretty quickly.
Playing Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, such a great game from my childhood, but man does Icewind Dale 2 kick it's arse so much .
I need to beat this game so I can move on to IceWind Dale (I have it somewhere in my house ) and it's expansions, and then play Neverwinter Nights 2 (the only games in those early to mid 2000s DnDPC games I haven't beaten, though I may have beaten IWD 1 already...
