Haha. Haqqislam Spec Ops has a Shock Marksman Rifle. Yu Jing spec ops has Shock Immunity. Looking at just the profiles and equipment, the Yu Jing Spec op is strictly better. Be interesting to see points and any special equipment or rules listed on the points lines. Might be some hidden upgrades there like Yasbir had.
Yuan-Yuan as the LE mini. Odd. Not a universal Merc like the ABH's. But useful to me as a QK player. And a very nice sculpt. The question though, is that Yuan-Yuan worth the additional (guess) $20-$30 or so that pre-ordering Red Veil will cost over waiting for a deal of the Day offer?
That was the Al Fasid after all. Hmmm, Wonder what the new profile will be like (apart from the weapon load-out) to distinguish it from the Azra'il.
Both starters look pretty good. I may have warmed up a bit to the idea of painting the Yu Jing minis; they do look nice, and well-posed for the most part. Snake got a face transplant, and a weird tactical wedge . He looks a bit like Harrison Ford now. (Circa Raiders of the Lost Ark). Zhayedin turned out very well. Tuareg and Khawarij are excellent resculpts. looks like neither of the female minis have combat heels. Cool.
The terrain: The playmat looks pretty good. Still 2'x3'? The buildings appear to be twice as high as the Moto.Tronica terrain. And a skywalk? Sweet. Four large ones are visible. Four shipping container sized ones too. (Lo Pan's noodle hut. A round-about way to make the snake (Kurt Russell) reference. Still, doesn't make up for Snake disappearing... This terrain is much nicer than the Icestorm set.
The spec ops certainly look like they'll be a Dire Foes set, or the Gen-Con exclusives (Get Red Veil and both Spec Ops sort of thing).
Omg! The Haqq half of the box is full on win! Looks like my worst fears are realized and I'll have to get another $100+ set. Maybe Gamenerdz will have this with the preorder figure?
So it looks likr I was right. The Ahl Fassed is taking the role of the Azra'il in Al Medinat. There's probably a lot of stat/gear/cost overlap with the Azra'il in vanilla as there had been with the Janissary.
I really like how the Zhayedan turned out. I'm going to need more pics of him and the kawarij.
Red Harvest wrote: Tell her the truth. Then put the fricking tablet away and enjoy your honeymoon.
Looks like the Haqq spec op is govad based (Govad armor) and a wizard's staffkiller hacking device. A clue to the civvie?
Statement is no civvie; just the Dire Foes.

Well so far the Ahl Fassed has a pretty unique loadout in that he has a HMGandLGL. They also have access to Mines.
Yeah, upset I'm sure, until the avalanche of emails asking when does the pre-order period start. Then it'll be nothing but sunshine and lollipops (stolen from Bakunin's moderators, of course) when he realizes just how well this offering will sell. Since it contains my faction, I hope it smokes Icestorm. And I think BoW will get more views, not less, because of this.
Dire Foes with no civvie But Leila Sharif will put Hassassin Husam Yasbir and his ho-hum profile to rest permanently. That is a crazy good profile and load-out. Looks like my Christmas Order will be a lot earlier than I expected. I need to learn to paint faster too. Much faster.

I'm guessing upset about the 'early leak'?
The leak is because BoW uploaded the videos early and forgot to make them private or at least unlisted. People screenshotted them. Can't blame the fans for that.
Carlos himself was vague, but we all know the reason he said this.
Absolutionis wrote: The Yu Jing "Madtrap" has a visual on the dossier. That may be the equivalent of the Civvie.
Madtraps are like Crazy Koalas, they're equipment for the Yu Jing guy. Civvies generally play the role of a thematic token for both sides to fight over.
But yeah, it might be taking the civvies 'spot' in the box, like how the tiny Tinbot took the place of a Jannisary in their box.
Based on the bit of bat rep I saw before the videos were made private, it looks like the missions might be the same as O:I.
I think the last mission had the central building with the CSU on it, which seemed to be what they were describing.
Something they started with Tohaa and I'm glad is making its way more into the other ranges is aiming with a sidearm while holding their main gun. Combat poses in the past were limited a lot to aiming down iron sights with variation coming from how they were standing - on a tactical rock, crane pose, dodging, etc. Makes a nice change while keeping a combat pose.
In the past we've had models only holding their sidearm, which make good proxy models when there's a lot of profiles and and you need one model to represent a few, but this is a bit more real as a combat pose. They don't just ditch their primary weapon when they use their sidearm (or do a movie type 'I ran out of ammo so I'm throwing my perfectly good gun at you oh no I now have no gun'). Like, the Al Fasid has a long range HMG and a medium ranged LGL, but something has just popped out in front of him from behind a building. Whip out the heavy pistol.
To be fair, there wasn't a civvie in Icestorm either. They may have used the model as one in the scenario (I wouldn't know, I didn't buy it) but the CSU has a mercenary profile.
Killian, the resident BoW Infinity expert posted this on Facebook: "Next week was structured so well, the surprises would have kept the community happy all through the week. At least not everything has leaked, there's still good stuff to come."
Emphasis mine. There's still stuff to look forward to!
That Ninja would look amazing in a 50/50 normal paint job and plain light grey with a light blue band separating the sides, as if his TO camo is deactivating as he's leaping forward to fire.

so be it.
Just paint the Zhanshis as Keisotsu. Then you're good.
Good stuff to come:
1. Images of the Dire Foes Minis
2. The other mini in the Dire Foes Box (if any)
3. Details of what is in the Red Veil scenarios (?)
4. The particulars of the GenCon deal
5. Warren gets sub-titles 6.Changes to Spec Ops?

Oh FFS, they aren't "hammer pants". They are heavy fabric pleated trousers called hakama. Srsly, they look NOTHING alike. A basic google image search would show that.
There is no elastic gathering on the ankles and they aren't a drop-crotch crap catcher.
If i had known there actual name i would have use that, but as I'm not well versed in Japanese clothing/armour I didn't actualy know what they were, but now i do.
I only used hammer pants as I needed a name and thats the first thing that came into my head, even though they obviously aren't, but i figured people would get what i was meaning.
But before that post i hadn't needed to name them so why were just the easy to paint pants baggy pants of some sort.
I've got some - they were part of my aikido gear. They're also used in kendo. They are part of the "uniform" so to speak.
About the only mini in that box I want is the ninja - but I'm not buying it for a dozen models I can't and won't use (Although I could use the yuan-yuan, I already have 3 for my QK, and don't need any more) - so the box is a 3/5 for me.

To be perfectly honest I am aware of what hakama are, and still refer to them as "Hammer Pants" as it has a greater cultural footprint outside of peeps into martial arts and rogue-japanophiles.
And as for google image searches...
Spoiler:
...it is easy to forgive someone for calling them such. The Corvus Belli version definitely included the rucked in version that makes them balloon out to the familiar hammer pant shape.

They look similar enough most people are happy with the term and know what they refer to. Getting worked up about leads to nothing but unnecessary grey hairs.
Operation: Red Veil contains two totally new and re-sculpted Starter Packs of two different factions: Yu Jing and Haqqislam. It also includes two exclusive miniatures, one per faction, only available in this Battle Pack, for a total amount of 14 highly detailed metal miniatures!

The Haqqislam Starter Pack contains the following figures: 3 Ghulams, 1 Khawarij, 1 Zhayedan and 1 Murabid Tuareg. Plus: 1 Al Fasid Heavy Infantry Regiment trooper (New troop profile!), an Operation: Red Veil Exclusive Figure!

Actually they are wearing Hakama, It's just that they're also wearing greaves and when you wear greaves over Hakama, it looks like Hammer Pants.

Note the lower right corner. Pre-Orders are 4 July to ? August. I'd guess 4 August. I'd expect the price to be similar to Icestorm... maybe a bit more because of the S5 Al Fasid.
Yuan-Yuan is apparently Stephen Rao's evil twin.
EDIT: to add that the actual delivery will probably not be until late September at the earliest. Remember how overwhelmed CB was by the Icestorm pre-orders? ("We'll make 5000. That'll last us until year's end." Then 8000+ pre-orders roll in. )
edit - something surprising I just noticed. The Zanshi have 2 females and 1 male. I can't think of another set of 3 Rifle line infantry that were 2 females and 1 male.
I can't tell what's going on in that picture. It's like... a pair of legs and then someone put super glue on the top half and rolled it around a bits box?
edit - oh wait, he's got a riot shield and a pistol. Now I'm seeing it.
Yeah, the only JSA model in there is the Ninja. Though I don't think anyone would complain if you used the Zanshi as Keisotsu until they got better models.
Yikes. Not one to care about that sort of thing too much, but I'm glad the sculptor decided to veer a little from the Tiger Soldier concept and keep her ass entirely in her pants...
Maybe CB is intentionally leaking images to specific Warcors and using the flipping and metadata to see who's doing the leaking. Question is, will they send a Fiday or a Speculo to kill the leaker? Will that earn either a reculpt?

Maybe, but its not like there was an issue with stuff being leaked before so that would be sending leaks to warcors just to see if they'd leak them... However I am down for both a Fiday and Speculo resculpt!

As a vanilla player, you'll want as much as possible available to you anyway, so the ISS starter is a great thing to add on to this set. The only issue comes from cheerleader redundancy. You don't need 3 Zanshi combis and 3 Celestial Guard combis. But I'm sure you'll put down the Pheasant, Crane and Zhanying at some point.

Yup. He's gonna be mine. Or not because he's going to be friggin' exclusive to their pants on head idiotic webstore or GenCon.
And since their webstore is, as mentioned, pants on head idiotic, that means I will NOT be getting one until general release whenever the hell that is and whatever the hell that is. If it sucks and they screw us over with more arm options being removed? I just won't buy him.
TalonZahn wrote: Mushashi isn't exclusive. Carlos said he will be released in that 2 pack later in the year. I think he said November.
Carlos also said that Marauders would be coming out in June and Minutemen closer to the end of the year--and that was back during the run-up to Human Sphere N3.
However, if you want him NOW, then he's sort of Exclusive.
Although, since CB tend to underestimate popularity, anyone ordering this stuff from their site, probably won't get it until November anyway.
This is what it says on the Miyamoto Musashi page:
Estimated delivery on early-September. Only available at our online store, GenCon, and at the III Interplanetario.
If they wanted to say that he was intended to be the GenCon "early bird release" that they've done in prior years(although not so much anymore; it used to be there would be a big release that was on hand which would come out in November/December) then they could do so.
But they don't. It specifically states that preorders will be delivered in September and that it is exclusive to conventions and their online store.
I'm going off what their webstore says rather than what gets said in a BoW video frankly.
Eh, not worth it to me, but if you love USARF perhaps...
Any word on if/when Red Veil will be available for preorder on the likes of thewarstore, miniature market, or gamenerdz? One of those 3 always has the lowest price.
In the second video at around 2:18, Bostria mentions that the Ahl Fassed was redesigned heavily for the niche of a new sectorial army called the "Rama Task Force". Not sure on the spelling due to Carlos's accent.
That's probably the name of the Al Medinitat sectorial.

They then go on the discuss how the Unknown Ranger is actually an exclusive miniature.

What toolbaggery.
"Hey guys we know you really want this model, since he's awesome and a great profile...but joke's on you, it's another limited edition!".
The shield is a nice change of pace from the usual sword to a gunfight schtick.
All the minis in the Red Veil box look nice... except I really don't care for the Al Fasid. That HMG looks bent, among other things. Maybe I'll wait to get the Haqq starter when it is available separately. Sounds like the scenarios in Red Veil are essentially the same as those in Icestorm.
Good news is the OSS sectorial has apparently made the cut for the next book, though there's going to be redesigning of units going on. One example was the Garuda tactbot.
Did you just make a Brexit Joke? Too soon man, too soon.

Which is hilarious...because GenCon is August.
"July" releases will pretty much become available to the general public in the middle of the next month anyways. That's usually the case.
GenCon is August 4th, the beginning of August. GenCon people will still get their stuff earlier than anyone else.
Automatically Appended Next Post: New videos from BoW. Seems to be tutorials on stuff most of us already know.
Sure, it's great that people at GenCon and Interplanetario(August 25th) get their Red Veil and Musashis early.
But that shouldn't come at the expense of a month's(possibly two month's) worth of releases just for some dumb "exclusivity" for a pair of conventions.
Eh... on the other hand, remember how much GenCon / Icestorm screwed with the release schedule when that happened?
They're probably just trying to avoid that.
Micky wrote: Eh... on the other hand, remember how much GenCon / Icestorm screwed with the release schedule when that happened?

They've had years to deal with that issue. It wasn't GenCon that caused the issue; it was Icestorm and Infinity week on BoW.
Turns out when you have a big blogsite like BoW plugging your hot new release...people actually will buy it!
Micky wrote: And in terms of production capacity, we're talking 3 boxes and a blister, its plenty of metal they're shifting.
2 boxes and 3 blisters, and those 2 boxes are starters, so 12 models. That's 15 models, one of which is an S5 heavy. That's more than they do in any given month.
July releases are the GenCon stuff? usually July releases would be available in August anyway. I don't see a problem, at least if everyone else gets the pre-orders of Red Veil in August as well-- unlikely as that may well be. It'll be 3 releases instead of 5, but Red Veil is quite a mega-release.
Yeah, I think this is a lesson learned from Icestorm. I hear they have been careful about growing too fast, and suspect that their production capacity is larger than in 2014, but not that much larger. I wonder how many pre-orders they are expecting?
Those Dire Foes would be a nice release for August (Sept. availability), as a follow up to Red Veil. Will they get a BoW video this week?
The Pan-O and Nomad starters were released individually in Jan 2015, 4 months after Icestorm. Maybe we'll see the Yu Jing and Haqq starters in Jan 2017?
And you a member of the Commonwealth. What would your Queen say?

Micky wrote: And in terms of production capacity, we're talking 3 boxes and a blister, its plenty of metal they're shifting.
If you think that they're producing them in July; you're out of your mind.
They need to have a number of them produced before the last week of July to attend GenCon. Then they need to ensure that they have more stock for Interplanetario.
And THEN they need to ensure they had stock for the actual release in September.
methebest wrote: Combat company is listing its retail as lower than Icestorm.
This is curious, since Red Veil has that Al Fasid, which ought to increase the price. I'm not reallly warming up to that mini though, but those Yu Jing figures ares starting to look interesting to paint... That Ninja, the pose reminds me of a bronze cast from the ancient world... or a hood ornament.
I thought it interesting that there is a short painting guide in the Red Veil book. A nice touch. In the photo the mini was primed black though. Boo! (Yes, I know, Angel will use black primer. His eyes are still young. He needs to get off my lawn. Now.)
MM's Deal of the Day for Icestorm was $60. That was 11 May this year. Noted as a reference point For those (in the US) thinking to wait and grab Red Veil at a deep discount.
2'x3', same size as the icestorm mat, to judge from the videos we've seen.
Alpharius wrote: The 'problem' there being the MM Deal of the Day usually sells out long before I even see the announcement e-mail!
Not an insomniac then? Lucky you.
Pre-order it and think of the price difference as the cost of that Yuan-Yuan. (About ~$26-$30 it seems. For a mini that would normally sell for ~$12 at the MM)
I'm trying to use the cost as an excuse not to get the box. Not sure I'll pass the WIP check on this one though.
Good thing I saw your post on this because I never would have realized I bought N3:Human Sphere instead of N3, 5 days ago. Thankfully I got to correct that with the deal of the day...WOOT!
Yeah it's something I immediatly imagined when I saw the profile, although I half expected a more captain america look alike (since they've already done Deadpool ...)
Is he wearing a mask? I wish it were possible to get a shot of the unassembled figure, sometimes. At least it looks like it should be possible to make him from s regular Grunt if you can't get this figure.
So glad to see the tone of this thread has taken a change for the better!
Last time I checked there were some people who were mostly just snarky, cynical and apparently so massively unhappy with the miniatures, the game and the company, it was pretty surprising they always took the time to complain about every single aspect of them.
Boy, has that changed!
- Named "Dire Foes Mission Pack 6: Defiant Truth"
- Dire Foes box coming in October/November.
- Mad Traps are like Crazy Koalas except use IMM lvl2 Adhesive Ammunition
- Both models were costed just so that if you combine them with Red Veil, it comes out to 200pt.
For the same price the Yu Jing guy seems significantly better. Both just as a profile comparison and in the context of what's available to their respective armies.

I was thinking the same thing!
What are we missing?
The Haqq one being a WIP 14 KHD with D Charges? For 20 points?
Sounds alright to me.
Especially as Killian pointed out that it could Cybermask, get to where it needed to be and then get stuff done.
She has govad elements on her armor, but assuming she has no skills I'd assume a Ghulam.
Hope is she will allow Hassassins to have a 5 man Ghulam link.
She's not horrible or anything, we can just already do all of that stuff with slightly different guys. Barid is better at hacking and religious etc.
Her big thing will be link team availability.
Basically, a cheap specialist, and a slightly better shot (BS12) than a Ghulam, with a nice rifle. (slight better range bands, and better ammo against W1 troops.) And the breaker pistol is fine for the up close shooting that the rifle is not. Not a bad deal at 20 points/0 SWC, but nothing spectacular. A better deal than Yasbir though. The Holoprojector changes really did not improve the profile that much.
October/November release then. I think August releases (September available) will be 3 at most, because Red Veil will be eating into production capacity still. No word on the civvie in the box. Bummer.
There could very well still be skills or weapons that the dire foes have that we don't know about it if there are alternate profiles. One might have a infiltrating or forward deployment profile.
There is only so much you can, or should, jam into a 20 point/0 SWC unit though. The alternate profiles might allow for linking with a fireteam in a particular sectorial, like Dire Foes units do now.
Now of course, we get to wait for GenCon, in 27 days, and whatever news comes from there. Unless we get a preview of these Dire Foes ( renders, info on the civvie if any, etc.) I doubt there will be much news 'til then.
When you think about 20pts, they both make sense, and both have pretty distinct roles. With a Killer Hacking Device, Shock Marksman Rifle, D-Charges and a Breaker Pistol, Leila is a solo hunter. Cybermask and go off looking for targets or objectives. She's probably going to be able to link with Ghulam, but her role is more as a solo peice. Having a KHD makes her a hacker (albeit a limited one - can KHD's use Spotlight?) for objectives.
With Number 2, a light flamethrower, Madtraps and Forward Observer, Xi Zhuang is built to be a link member. Number 2 means as long as he's a live, the link is safe from breaking from a loss of leader, and his gear is close range defensive, deterring attacking the link. Forward Observer is a cheap specialist skill to let him do limited objectives.
That wasn't much of a battle report BoW put up. Carlos' rotten luck ruined the whole thing. Though there were a few points where he could have turned it around even after his TAG went down.
I'm not up on all the ins & outs of Haqq, but that's not much of a list he was using.
Dropped $50 on a pre order of Red Veil today sicne I was at the FLGS having a game. Haven't been this ansty for a release in a long time.
Has anyone else done the math to figure out the cost of the Ahl Fassed based on the inclusion of 2 20pt, 0swc Dire Foes making the forces equal at 200pts?
That brings each side in Red Veil 180pts. That adds up for the Yu Jing side. Zuyong Lt (Carlos used that in the battle report), 3 plain Zanshi, Tiger hacker, Hsien HMG and Ninja Tactical Bow comes to 180pts, 2.5SWC.
For Haqqislam, Khawarij Lt (Killian used this in the battle report), 3 plain Ghulam, Tuareg sniper and Zhayedan Breaker Rifle comes to 127pts, 0.5swc.
To get to 180pts, the Ahl Fassed is 53 points. Assuming the SWC is even, it's 2swc. 53pt, 2swc seem fair for that over the 41pts, 2swc for an Azra'il APHMG. You're getting a slightly inferior HMG, but gaining an LGL, Veteran L1, Minelayer and a Heavy Pistol, without seeing what their new stat line is. It's enough of a cost bump - 12 more points - that even in Vanilla, there's reason to go with the Azra'il if you don't have the 12pts spare for the Ahl Fassed

Just this variant, like Van Zant.
I apologize for asking what is probably an obvious question, is there Unknown Ranger going to be the Gencon Exclusive? If so that's a major bummer, that's a very cool sculpt.

This version is the GenCon exclusive. The general release one will most likely be the same body but with different arms.

Ah gotcha, thanks very much for the quick response. The things you miss when life calls you away for a month or so.

I'm not up on all the ins & outs of Haqq, but that's not much of a list he was using.
The lists that they use for the battle reports are usually very sub-optimal. They're used to show off the latest shiny boxed set and throw in a nice, big showy TAG.
I seen them more as a showcase of "look at at these cool/pretty/awesome miniatures you can use in Infinity", as opposed to a well thought out list.

Nothing wrong with playing games of Infinity like that. I lament the fact that Infinity community has turned into such a 'run the optimal lists only' one so fast.
My favorite games have been when my brother or friend says 'hey, look at this awesome mini I just finished painting' and throws it in a list because feth, the mini just looks so awesome running around killing stuff.
Curious to see who he can link with, and in what sectorial. Eg. if he's linkable in Imperial Service, would he be compatible with any of the wacky links they can build?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love the fact that they get to use cool stuff in the batreps, but if someone says that they used "sucky lists", I tend to see why they used the lists that they used.
Ahhh... who am I kidding?
I'm just jealous because I don't have the cojones to use my Guijia that I finished painting six months ago...
Speaking of which, isn't that model like $80-something and all metal? Because if so, yikes.
Don't know the US price, but it's $88au (the next most expensive are the Stingray series, which are $69 and the Iguana, which is $56, then the Guija and Jotum which are $53au), and the and yes, all metal. I've held the box and, well. Wow. It's a heavy peice of kit. And that's after they discovered in production that it was too heavy and spent tome hollowing out the torso to make it lighter.

I always recommend trying stuff that gets derided on the internet, mostly because the game is incredibly well balanced and mostly about play styles. TAGs don't work for a lot of people, but they work for others and are good fun to use. Give it a try! I had a lot of fun and success with the Gorgos before it got its AP Spitfire, while it was considered unplayable.

General consensus is Celestial Guard, since it's an Imperial Service character according to its dossier.
Which is humorous, since these are meant to boost the starter forces, but the starter contains no Celestial Guard and is a combined arms generic force, not an ISS force, so it can't link anyway. Leila is a far better model for its points in that context.
I hope they have time to post the concept for the other dropships I asked about as I only have money for one and I'm not sure if this is the one I'll like the best. Will be getting lots of decals though.
Edit: here's the quote on time:
The KS should be going LIVE on Monday around 1800 hours BST

We can blame the ITS scenarios for the min-max list building. (My axe to grind.) The season ends at Interplanetario, then CB will take a few months, then a few months more ( until Feb 2017 I'd guess) to revise them (maybe) and post 'em for ITS 2017. No idea how much, if any, HSN3, will change the scenarios. I've always had more fun with YAMs games than ITS games.
Well, after watching a lot of Red Veil themed videos - and pre-ordering Red Veil too! - I think I'm probably going to be expanding my Yu Jing force beyond JSA!

My gripe about Yu Jing is that you need to play vanilla to use their better standard units. Also then how often do you mix in JSA units when you play Vanilla Yu Jing? JSA units feel so out of place with the conventional Yu Jing.
I wish Imperial Service had more of the cool Yu Jing core units.
No Zuyongs, no Yan Huo, no Hac Tao, no Dao Fei, no Shang Ji, no Tiger soldiers, no Guilang, no Guija
Not that they have NO good options, but so many of Yu Jing's signature units aren't represented in either sectorial.
At least they made Wu Ming better since N3 & the new sculpts are such an improvement. The option to mix n match imperial agents with Bao & Wu Ming is a welcome change.
I eagerly await the new Yu Jing sectorials. A fireteam of Zuyongs with Sun Tze would be awesome.

Well, when I play vanilla, I have been known to use the Raiden HRL and... erm... that's it!
The exception that proves the rule.
I'm actually really happy with the limited choices in ISS, it makes the odd return to vanilla so much fun. How I manage to cope without Daofei, I'll never know...
I've been planning expanding the Yu Jing as well. Stage 1 is a Su Jian, Tiger Spitfire and the new Dire Foe. That brings it to 300/6. Play games with them and get them painted. When done, get the ISS starter, two Pheasant Agent sculpts (because they are some of my favorite Infinity sculpts, just the rest of the Yu Jin stuff never matched them) and Wu Ming box. Get those painted, play more games. Along the way get a Guija.
Essentially, outside of the Pheasant Agents, I want to stick to new sculpts only, and I want to expand them slowly as I paint them.

Keisotsu, Ninja, Oniwaban, Shinobu, Karakuri, and now the Shikami are all pretty common. Oh and not to forget the Tokusetsu and O-Yoroi which are great in vanilla as well. I guess it's different for those of us who started before this whole sectorials thing took off. In 1st Edition and beyond Keisotsu were basically the standard line troop of Yu Jing (you only took Zhanshi for LT hiding shenanigans and with N3 have private LT WIP that use isn't really front and centre anymore).
All of our TO skirmishers are JSA units technically, and with so many great new profiles for 'em in N3 it is hard to say no. Karakuri are tough as nails HI specialists. Shikami are just plain amazing high-mobility assault units. The Tokusetsu is an outright better Engineer/Doctor than the Mech-Engineer or the Zhanshi Yisheng because they cost a point less. And the O-Yoroi is a TAG that comes with area denial gear.
Seriously, vanilla Yu Jing without JSA is missing a hell of a lot.
I wish Imperial Service had more of the cool Yu Jing core units.
No Zuyongs, no Yan Huo, no Hac Tao, no Dao Fei, no Shang Ji, no Tiger soldiers, no Guilang, no Guija
Another one of those generational things I think. The Hsien was one of Yu Jing's original and iconic power houses and I easily class it as a "core" unit. Before it was an IS staple, it was in vanilla lists alongside the monk being everyone's worst nightmare. It was a unit that worked so well most folks barely complained that it was outright worse than the Aquila in the last two editions. Such was the power of MSV2+Smoke.
More than that, when sectorials became a thing and we got Human Sphere for the first time it was a breath of fresh air to get a whole raft of new and fresh units. That the IS sprang up from a mere handful of profiles to give us so many new and exciting units was a boon and not a bane. We had been playing the same vanilla units for years at this point before 2nd Edition and Human Sphere came about. I'm glad the IS was its own thing and wasn't just a greatest hits list of Yu Jing fan favourites. Instead it created new fan favourites like the Su-Jian, the Celestial Guard, and the Kuang Shi which have in many ways become just as iconic as the Tiger Soldier or Daofei.
Beyond that, the fluff of those units you mention doesn't really match up with the operating parameters of the Imperial Service. Those things are all StateEmpire army attack units, IS are anti-insurgency specialists. SWAT teams aren't military units and military units aren't SWAT teams. They should definitely play and behave differently on the field. We will get standard army sectorials soon (IA and White Banner), for now I am content to have all my favourite things from the sectorials (and those that haven't found their sectorial yet) in vanilla.
Not that they have NO good options, but so many of Yu Jing's signature units aren't represented in either sectorial.
At least they made Wu Ming better since N3 & the new sculpts are such an improvement. The option to mix n match imperial agents with Bao & Wu Ming is a welcome change.
With the advent of N3 the IS has become an incredibly competitive list with a whole ton of stellar options in it. They have a great flavour all their own and I'm glad it isn't diluted by just breaking down and giving them things that don't quite fit the theme. N3 is the best they have ever been.
No, I don't recall when it was the last time they've openly talked about their future plans with larger audience either.
I am not surprised they're putting out the merchandise like this. Do wonder what quality is the mousepad going to be, a cheap and small pad with Infinity logo isn't going to be worth it (although the scale certainly leans towards one of the smaller pads). A nice logo/motive with a similar quality of a gaming pad such as Razor or Roccat would be sweet.
Who says they did not? (and their historical record suggests they did not look for someone to licence their product, but granted licence to someone who asked to licence their product) moreover what is your constant problem with their decisions?
Hey, remember when they said they were purposely trying to keep their growth levels down and they didn't want to merchandise things?
No not really I do not,.
So, a company thinks Infinity is good enouph to make merchandise products for it and CB licence it to them, what is the problem again?
The problem is that poor quality merchandise harms the brand, and carries with it the unpleasant aroma of a cash-grab. CB will need to make sure that the quality of the merchandise, and type of merchandise, remains high. I think they learned their lesson with the first run of those Classified Objective cards. These are things that could be included in the ITS packages too. I'm surprised there are no T-shirts. There are always T-shirts. And they are always black.
Kanluwen wrote: This is the company that used to be a partner with BTP and Battlefoam.

No used to be about it. They still are. Don't let Romeo (Battlefoam's Owner) hear you malign the quality of Battlefoam bags. Seriously. Truth is, they are good quality bags. I saw a lot of them back in the day when I ran the paint judging stuff at a large tournament here in the DC area. Met Romeo too. No comment. And no comment on BTP. Does it still exist?

I'll wait until the last minute to decide about pre-order, just to see what else comes along, deal-wise. No need to rush into things.

White Banner (the Yu Jing Svalarheima sectorial) already has its cool TAG. it gets the Guija, according to its dossier.

No see, one delivers heavily armored and indoctrinated troopers to quell dissent against a corrupt and increasingly oppressive inter galactic regime; whereas the other delivers heavily armored and indoctrinated troopers to quell dissent against a corrupt and oppressive inter planetary regime. Really couldn't be more different.
Really like the Al Fasid profile. 4-2, but he has stuff to do with his second short skill almost regardless of circumstance.
Looking forward to other loadouts. Mk12 would be super fun.

Instagram's images are crap for this forum's software--plus Instagram just doesn't really work for embedding.
The easiest way to do Instagram's images as embeds? Go into(for Firefox):
Tools->Page Info->Media
Scroll through until you find the image itself; then IMG tag it.
Anyways...
August had better have a Marauders box. It's crap enough that July is ONLY Red Veil.
Rather odd pricing structure for the Antenociti KS (not sure I've seen anything similar before) which seems to punish the impatient/those who aren't as bothered. I think it's that expensive anyway that most will probably just go for the £125 option.
Although.. it's expensive isn't it, as lovely as it looks. I'd need to deliberate that for some time before buying, and no doubt feel guilty about it for some time after if I did pledge!
At least there is always the option to buy the decals and throw them over some other kit.
The only way I'd consider one is if the pound crashed even more. Not that I'd wish it on you guys, but $125au for a bit of terrain is pricey, let alone 125gbp after exchange rates.
I might have a look on the last day and see what the GPB is at and decide then.
The $125 dropship may be a bit expensive even if it has unofficial rules, but there's another part of the Kickstarter that may interest people. Decals!
4 GBP each sheet isn't bad. Plus, cheaper shipping for a decals-only pledge.
I've always liked the idea of using little faction symbols on the front of a base. Not sure if I'd back for them though rather than just wait for them to hit their webstore. Not a fan of unit badges, personally. I'd dig some more military style marks, but I can always just go find decal sheets elsewhere for that.
Or maybe because it's something that should not be coming from a third party company?
It's one thing for the Dropships to be coming from AW; fair enough as CB doesn't "do" resin.
But really? Decals need to be coming from a third party?
Decals are something that have been requested for a LONG time by Infinity players. Before Human Sphere or Paradiso. The answer was always "We don't see a need for them".
The ONLY way this is acceptable is if future boxed sets start coming with them.
-Loki- wrote: Eh, I've got no problem with it. Bring on more third party decals.
Good for you then?
Transfers are something that should be included with the kit or be completely unnecessary and there should be recessed/sculpted detail that normally would be transfers.
Kanluwen wrote: Or maybe because it's something that should not be coming from a third party company?
Is it really considered 3rd party, if there is an agreement and some sort of license that allows them to create official product? That is one of the reasons why they can't do weapons, it wasn't in their agreement to do them. It isn't like they are generic order token that utilizes a non-official symbol though. If CB was going to do it, they would have licensed someone else to do it (basically what is being done now).
I never realised there is a contract universally enforced on wargame companies that they must be GW and behave as GW.
Why should CB create their own decals (and go into trouble on learning how to do it and ultimately subcontract somebody to do it) if someone else with the expertise is willing to do it as a licensed partner?

Nomads get refurbished TAGs.
Haqq have to import their REMs.
Ateks suffer persecution and drive off unfinished bridges.
We have to have Authorised 3rd party decals.

Exactly! CB would probably have contracted someone out to make official decals, just like they did with terrain. All they're doing is choosing not to be a middle man.

In the meantime guys on the Infinity Australia FB page have been buying these for $30 from Target.
That one goes for $70 state side.
I have one of the other avenger jets, that comes with cap on the motorcycle, and it's way too big for an infinity game unless you really design a scenario around it.
There are lots of Guardians of the Galaxy ships though that are much cheaper, less of a collectors item, that look good on a table and go for around $10 on amazon. I'm picking up extra vehicle decals for when I paint these and those go for $1.30 on this KSer.
for $10 Australian and free postage a few months ago.
Take off the little guns and it makes a nice sci-fi shippie.
And that mini makes a nifty Daktari proxy too
GenCon Presentation is still on the Saturday, no? 6 August. 25 days to go. Any hints as to what it will contain? Apart from some more on the Dire Foes?
That Avengers dropship is pretty nice and have seen some very effective re-workings of it (airbrushing, cover over the cockpit canopy and it quickly stops looking like a toy).
Another good option is the Hasegawa 'Falke' - it's meant to be 1:20 scale, but if you again cover the canopy and leave off the gun (which is otherwise a bit over-sized for 28mm scale). Have one of these with my Haqqislam and think it fits very well. They can be expensive (think £70+ is going rate) but if you wait around I have seen them for £30-40.
Sooo...the only way to get decals is from 3rd parties? Well. Not gonna say anything more about that.
Actually we're a licensed Partner.
Third Parties aren't allowed to use CB IP.
Third Party:
1) someone not directly involved in a transaction. A third entity in the Seller (first party) and Customer (second party) relationship. A Seller may employ a third party to perform specific services to augment the value of a product. For example, a manufacturer may employ a third party to pack and distribute a product.
Licensed partner or not; you're a third party per the definition of a third party. I'm not buying Corvus Belli products from you, you're not selling me anything but things to "enhance" the value of a product.
At this point? I'll just scan the book and make my own transfers rather than shell out to you or any other company for something that should be included in a box.
Only when there's something that makes no sense at all.
I should add that the only thing that bugs me is the decals/transfers. I'm perfectly fine with the Dropships since they aren't necessary or really anything more than scenery--and that I hope the Kickstarter goes well.
I dont really care that much if you dont think that is correct, because legally it is, and that's all I am here to point out.
someone not directly involved in a transaction. A third entity in the Seller (first party) and Customer (second party) relationship. A Seller may employ a third party to perform specific services to augment the value of a product.
You're not "directly involved in a transaction" with Corvus Belli or the retailers selling Corvus Belli products. Your service is strictly to augment the value of a product.
Legally, you're a partner but that doesn't mean you cannot be a third party as well. Welcome to the magic of how legalese is not the same as actual definitions.
I for one welcome our new decal overlords, and will happily apply them to every surface I can find, even some models if I can ever finish painting them.
I wasn't interested in the kickstarter at first. The jet looks cool and all, but not something I really need for my table. Now that I see there are decals involved? I'm very interested. They look great! Top marks for organizing the decals by sectoral, and including the numbers available in the army for the unit badges.
Well done! I'd been planning on printing some of my own decals... but this will save me a lot of time and effort, plus be a lot more detailed than I'd come up with.
I wonder if CB will come up with some dropship oriented scenarios. They did create objective room oriented scenarios. And I mean dropship as terrain, not as a vehicle. Get the HVT to 'Da Choppa' for example.

The new ones really blow the old ones out of the water :-/
Wouldn't want to buy them only to see them replaced in a few months
2-3 months following a starter set seems to be typical for SWC boxes. I would definitely hold out if you can.
By that logic the Zhanshi SWC box could also be out this year.
It's one of the few things CB seems to be pretty consistent with.
I'm guessing the Ghulam box might have been brought forward to fill a delayed slot, or the initial plan was to release a Haqq starter sooner than Red Veil and plans changed.

Ah.. I see that.. the first place I see it mentioned on the page is waaaaaay down in the design section. Yeah its a stunning kit but I'm not willing to pay the price tag. I've been a part of all of AW KS and use there bases and compass bars but I'm going to wish them luck and sit this one out.
Thinking about it I will pledge for the decal set to give them my support.

Assuming AW is delivering its products worldwide roughly 5% of the ITS registered Infinity players bought it already. That's far away from any majority.
The guns are on the concept art and very early test renders. These were done before they were making them as official models. Now that they are official models, the guns had to be removed as per their license deal with CB.
It's worth noting just how long these have been worked on. They've been talking about starting this kickstarter for their dropship designs since at least December 2013.

There's a reason I called this a highly anticipated kit.. This kit was the reason I goaded TF until they added a dropship to their KStbh. Reading the KS more closely.. there will be an option to allow you to attach guns as well.. so that's nice..

AW know who they're making these for - people who will be willing to pay the money for them, and they're clearly finding a market. It appears the poster was confusing 'they're out of their minds' with 'I don't want one'.
Yea, exactly, I'm not willing to spend that much on a piece of scenery either but it's very pretty and clearly many people think it's a fair price for the quality.

AW know who they're making these for - people who will be willing to pay the money for them, and they're clearly finding a market. It appears the poster was confusing 'they're out of their minds' with 'I don't want one'.
I didn't confuse it for that anymore than you confused disagreeing with a person for meaning they're wrong. Will people buy it? Well.. people still pay prices GW charge.. so yes.. yes they will. I suppose if it's limited release only then sure.. the price kinda makes sense. I mean.. they've not really been established as a producer of a collectible market or anything.. but hey.. charging 2-3x what other similar kits are asking seems reasonable to me. (that's sarcasm). I own AW kits and they're nice. Contrary to popular belief though, they are not perfect. The hover tank I own has numerous air bubbles and a mold line from slippage that creates a small offset. There's tons of flash and it's a hybrid metal resin kit. Do I expect this one to be leagues beyond? Well.. I dunno.. the AW scenery I have is newer and only marginally better.. so.. no not really.. See.. I've got facts and reasons for having my opinion and stance. As nicely designed as that kit is, it's just not there. For the people that are paying, I do hope the quality issues are not there because I hate to think people are buying something like that.. but hey.. If you like it for that price, more power to you.. I do not (for what they're asking) and at the end of the day, we're here to discuss what we think.. not what we think each other should think. You don't agree.. got it.. Enjoy your model.
He is a WarCor? They are supposed to get early releases so they can run demo games. GenCon starts in 3 weeks. I wonder how fast the Red Veil boxes will sell out. Everyone else will have to wait until what, mid-September?
I think further discussion of Antenocitis can go to the Antenocitis thread, no? Don't make Alpharius use that ghastly orange text color (or is it the yellow?) again.

EDIT TO ADD: ninja'ed by the master
There is a post from Gorilla Games with similar (looks like they are already assembled and started on painting) so don't know if its some painting studios that are getting them as well as the Warcors.
Ya, I wanted to buy something, the new forbidden palace, from Customeeple with the sale they have right now but shipping was more then the actual product. It's nothing they have any control over as the Spanish Gov sets minimum prices.
As a comparison I ordered some terrain that was way heavier from Australia and it cost less and only took 4 days to make it to my house.
I'll be contacting Infinity Harbor I guess to get one as it will be less to pay full price+10%+shipping from the US then 20% off + shipping from spain.
I just threw together the order I wanted to do (4 mugs - one for myself and 3 as Christmas gifts) and the Red Veil mouse pad, and it came to $80au. Mugs were $18 each and the mouse pad was $8. I've paid more for novelty mugs and mouse pads.
Shipping was $39au which while a touch more than I'd expected, we pay a lot to ship stuff to Australia anyway. It wasn't in any way unreasonable. I've paid more than that to ship here. I paid equal shipping to what I paid for foam trays from Battlefoam the one time I ordered direct from them.
