There are definitely a few things where I'd like more info for pledging, but I'm pretty much happy with that. Think I'll be dropping $40 more than intended, but that isn't so bad.
Alpharius wrote: Well, I think that means there will be a 'full fledged' Pledge Manager, with the ability to do lots of add-ons?
I think that makes me happy too?
I think?
I'm not the happiest that it's coming out this soon. I can understand wanting to know how much he'll have to order, but I find it problematic to be adding models and expansions to things that are only in concept art form.
Pledge Manager is starting to be opened, first 1000 backers will get access tonight or so.
Will be open for a month
We have opened the pledge manager up to the first batch of 1,000 people! Invites will be sent out shortly! Provided everything is looking good, we will continue to invite more backers everyday!
We have started to collect email address for Late Backers. We will invite late backers into the fray after all the backers are settled.
As of writing this, I am planning on keeping the pledge manager open for a month. If there is anything you missed, now is the ideal time adjust your pledge! Depending on how long it takes to get everyone invited and whatever bugs come up might effect how long I keep the pledge manager open.
I find it annoying all the shipping is TBD and each wave requires its own TBD shipping costs. I only bought the 1.5 upgrade but I feel for people who are probably paying 5-6 different shipping costs over the next 3-4 years
Chopxsticks wrote: I find it annoying all the shipping is TBD and each wave requires its own TBD shipping costs. I only bought the 1.5 upgrade but I feel for people who are probably paying 5-6 different shipping costs over the next 3-4 years
Agreed that it is a bit annoying, but with the way that shipping rates changed and the time between releases, I can't think of a better solution.
Filled out my pledge manager - the pinup boxes were a good idea to try to simplify things - but they distributed things poorly between them, kinda defeating the point.
It'll re-open, at least once between each wave would be my guess... too many potential sales for them to miss out on for them to not do that.
I removed some wave 4 stuff to allow me to get more wave 1 stuff, no doubt ill be able to re add the wave 4 goodies when it reopens.
That's a possibility, but most likely prices will increase with each reopen.
Owning all the current expansions, the game already has more than enough content for a lifetime. I opted to just add Campaigns of Death, Silver City and Abyssal Woods. Then, I went and just broke down and added Ivory Dragon. We'll see how much my will continues to break down over the next month.
Well, another $245 on top of my $777 Black Friday Gamblers Lantern, for a grand total of $1022. But I THINK I got everything I needed - the crossovers, Satan and the hard plastic board, (which is a bit of a gamble but...).
Why do I want everything? Well, because I'm crazy.
The only thing I was debating were the new bases, but I just have no idea how many sets I'd need to base all the new monsters, and the inconsistency with my current monsters would probably bug me.
BrookM wrote: They must be impatient or something. Got my mail this morning and got a reminder a few minutes ago that I still had to do my pledge manager.
Odd, I filled it up a day after I received the invite and didn't get any reminder.
didn't add anything over the stuff I already had added on KS, wasn't much left anyway still I would love it if he offered an empty box as an add on.
Over here, on the fence about dropping $40 more or not, decided not to get the other expansion I'd been debating, but mostly already decided.
And shipping's going to be a beast, though a little less bad for those getting pinup bundles. Nice for those who got the giant bundles, but still don't think the price makes them close to worth it.
The pledge was my brother's to begin with, I just managed to snag it for him. He's still staying on target though: 1.5 upgrade, adventure book and Hyper Light Drifter mini.
Wow, more self control than I have. I know the woods expansion isn't a fantastic deal, but it just had too many of my favorite concept pieces they'd released before. Before that, I had things fairly under control, too...
Sorry, not a great discount vs. the advertised retail.
I'm very excited about the content, love the dragon campaign as one that really nicely integrated its new nemesis (definitely my favorite variant including the core), and am hoping it's similarly an interestingly restructured and more directly cohesive nemesis set.
I went ahead and added the Lion God and Silver City, I didn't pledge for those originally. All the other new expansions (except the honeycomb) I had already covered.
As as V1 bakcer with several expansions already, I'm just faced with total choice paralysis! Doesn't take many new expansions before the spend level becomes insane on top of the Silver Lantern pledge.
If I just want to make the core game as full and satisfying an experience as it can be, what would be my best bets?
I was thinking Screaming God to populate the "5" node, and Campaigns of Death to give more variety to the core game.
I heard the White Lion fight can get old quickly, since you'll be fighting early game monsters a lot more often than late-game ones. Frogdog best bet as an alternate for that?
Bob, thought you were asking something about a few bucks left over for shipping? Someone else was saying that it sounds like you'll be billed for shipping later, and you can't spend cash towards it?
It might be worth checking if you're not sure and were assuming you could.
and they should email you a link to the pledge manager once they've finished sending out all the emails to the backers (not sure if that's finished quite yet)
A couple FAQs and Answers from Dark Mediator: Check here before you send a support ticket!
When will Backerkit End?
Adam will make an announcement to inform everyone of the end date and then he will make a final reminder as well. 3/20 is the projected final date.
I'm gonna move soon. Can I tell you my address later/delay my shipment?
We will send a survey out before each wave ships. Finalizing your address before each wave helps us avoid shipping errors. We can not hold your order.
I'd like to switch my pledge to something other than Gold Lantern or the Percival's Lantern.
You can only change your pledge level to either the $350 Gold Lantern or the $2500 Percival's pledge. Those are the only two options to change to after the campaign.
I backer more than once with different accounts can I combine my shipping/pledges.
No if you pledged twice you will have to deal with each pledge individually. Adam will not combine pledges. Shipping must be paid separately as well. We do not authorized the transfer or sale of pledges. You will have to deal directly with the person that made the pledge. Adam is very strict about this.

It does not include promos, so no Pathfinders or Hyperlight, plus I think 2 or 3 other crossovers. I imagine it's everything else besides the pinups, including Campaigns of Death, etc.
Im sure someone has a list out there. If I can find the spreadsheets that have been floating around the comments, Ill shoot it to you.

I think BGG would be your best place to get this answered. In my case, I am thinking to lock in Abyssal Woods and Ivory Dragon, as I think the MSRPs are going to go up on each of them before they are finally released.
The rest is really season to taste. If you don't like Abyssal Woods, there's the whole Inverted Mountain series of expansions.
Bioptic wrote: I heard the White Lion fight can get old quickly, since you'll be fighting early game monsters a lot more often than late-game ones. Frogdog best bet as an alternate for that?
Yeah, I'd make my priorities:
-level 1 node monsters: gorm, frogdog, and/or weaver
-campaign variant monsters: dragon king (my current favorite) sunstalker (okay), gryphon, etc.
Is the Percival level "worth it" If I got Gamer's Lantern?
Got Gamer's Lantern + added set 2-5 of the pin-ups (have set 1 already) and all the cross-overs. Also grabbed an upgrade pack. Plan to part with my sealed copy of the core game 1.5 + all the still sealed expansions from set 1 that I already had.
Feelsbadman for missing out on Satan pledge levels as well as the Frogdog levels. :(. Would have done Percival, but unless I'm missing something, it's a lot cheaper to just do Gamer's Lantern and buy the items missing in Percival's Lantern as desired?
"Daniel Ehrli Also if anyone wants to print them in high quality, i have high poly versions of all files, and maybe then someone wants to make a resin production. I would be willing to work with anyone who thinks they might to this."
That's nice looking, but... word of warning to anyone interested: my group played around with some casts for stuff like this, and it quickly became obvious it was impractical-- looked awesome when you set it up, but once the game got going, it kept being hard to balance things.
Ive now had an invite to open up the Pm. Interestingly (and don't know if anyone else has reported this) you can jump up and and the 1.5 Monster box game. But doing so costs $300, compared to the $250 cost pledge during Ks and $200 if you got the black friday deal.
Pledge Manager Closes March 23rd (9 days from now!)
The pledge manager is closing March 23rd at 1PM EST.
Everyone will be charged for any extra add-ons they have made via backerkit starting then. Backers that have failed to fill out their survey run the risk of forfeiting their pledge. It is essential that all survey's are complete so we can lock in production numbers.
The pledge manager will reopen before wave 1 ships to collect your wave 1 shipping fee. I have yet to decide if backers will have the opportunity to pledge for more content when we reopen it. Please do not expect it.
Leftover credit in backerkit can be used to pay for your upcomming shipping fee's.
We cannot refund additional / left over backerkit credit at this time.
If you have any issues, please head over to our support page: kingdomdeath.com/support
Support related messages that come thru via kickstarter have a high chance of being missed, do not seek help through it. I don't want to miss your messages! We want to help you!
What happens if I don't fill out backerkit?
There is no longer a guarantee that some or all of your rewards will be delivered to you. Instead we might only be able to offer a refund with at least 10% removed to cover our non-recoverable fee's. (Kickstarter, Stripe, Backerkit, Production Fee's etc...) You MUST finalize your pledge otherwise we will have inaccurate production numbers. We cannot give backers with forfeited pledges production units that have been allocated to our retail release. I am begging you, please finalize your pledge.
Late Backers that fail to complete their pledge will simply be removed from our system.
I apologize but I do not have much flexibility room here. I cannot simply order "enough" and hope people finalize their pledges in a timely fashion. The project is very large and to ensure that everything goes smoothly I must be strict.
We will of course, always do everything we can to accommodate people with special circumstances. Please reach out via our support page, not kickstarter.
This is a very critical update, hence I have decided to wait on actual content progress and risk distracting all the important information above.
Thank you in advance for understanding.
Ah... well I can't really leave the update without anything fun. Here is a 1/8th scale Cockroach Queen!
Yeah I can't believe they're closing literally one day before I (and tons of people who get payed monthly) get my pay check... seems like bad planning.
The pledge manager is closing March 23rd at 1PM EST.
March 23rd is a Thursday, which is a bit odd, but obviously, he needs to freeze things and move to production ASAP. Totally understandable. And it's been 2-1/2 months since the KS closed, so it's not unreasonable.
sadly even the basic untracked shipping to the UK seems to have gone up again with a single resin mini being $30 (or its the glitch that's showed up previously) so I can't afford to get anything... Boo I really wanted the Bard and those green dice
(sorry no links, paste seems to be broken at the moment)
you scalpers charging triple digit prices for 'em.
Now whether I can do the danged sculpt justice painting (most likely not) is another story entirely...
Just do what I do; spray it all white. Then spray it again. Spray it real good, now. Then waaaaaaaaaaash that sucker in sepia ink so it looks classy as feth.
Forsaker is finally back in stock! I've been wanting one for quite a long time, but whenever he's in stock, by the time I have a chance to order him, he's sold out. Well, not this time! I was finally able to get one. Now I get to try and figure out how I'm going to paint him.
Quick question for anyone who has completed/locked/etc. the Pledge Manager - does it charge your card straight away, or will it be waiting until the deadline on the 23rd to do so?
Alpharius wrote: Quick question for anyone who has completed/locked/etc. the Pledge Manager - does it charge your card straight away, or will it be waiting until the deadline on the 23rd to do so?
Thanks!
it will be charged whenever the creator locks things down, so the 23rd assuming Adam does it on time (you'll also be able to reopen it and change things via the link in the email you'll get until it's locked so if you have a last minute change of mind its ok)
Given that he pushed from the 20th to the 23rd, and gave a specific time to lock, announcing it via Update and blog, I think he's definitely locking on the 23.
I have some questions and I'm not even sure if I'm in the right place to ask, but here goes.
So basically my issue is this. I have played this game three times, and now I want my own copy. I went to kickstarter and saw that the campaign is over. I was bummed, but then I saw that you can still make late pledges until the 23 of March.
Is it worth it to make a pledge now, or will there be another Kickstarter in the near future, or even will this game be coming to retail? Should I just wait a bit longer, or jump right in right this minute while I know I can get a copy of the core game?
Basically, finding information about this game seems next to impossible especially when pricing or releases are involved. I want to say I understand the creator is a very small team, but it seems like something that's raised 12 million on kickstarter would be much more accessible.
This is probably the cheapest you will get the game - and it'll be the first opportunity you will be able to get it - with no one really knowing when your next chance would be.
If you have tried it and liked it, then now would be the time.
Vorian wrote: This is probably the cheapest you will get the game - and it'll be the first opportunity you will be able to get it - with no one really knowing when your next chance would be.

Thank you for the response! But this doesn't really answer my question, and I apologize for this. Just to be clear, are you saying that this game will never be made available for retail sale, or are you saying that it will-with the stipulation that nobody knows when this will occur at the current time and that I should buy in now to garuntee the best price and quickest availability?
I saw that you can still make late pledges until the 23 of March.

Welcome!
If you want a copy of your own, you had best pledge now. Or, you can hunt on eBay.
If you pledge now, you will get a copy at a fair discount from MSRP.
There will likely be another KS in the future, but not until Black Friday, at the earliest; with how much Adam has on his plate right now, I'd be very skeptical for this BF, maybe BF 2018. Recall that the first KD:M KS closed in 2013 - so it was 4 years until the latest KD:M KS launched.
Adam is looking at retail at some sort, but it probably won't be what you played.
The window on KD:M is very tight. Buy it or be prepared to wait a very long time.
Adam has a lot of helpers, but he's doing so much of everything.
It's accessible right now, but that will change in a week.
I don't think it's ever been categorically stated that it will never have another run - but as far as I understand it at least, without this kickstarter they wouldn't have been able to finance another run because it's such a major investment.
Given that the proposed delivery dates are so far in the future for this, it seems a reasonable guess that a 3rd run (if there was to be one) would be quite a way away.
Buying now would guarantee best price and quickest availability anyway - it's certainly not going to be getting cheaper
Without guaranteeing that there WON'T be a way to buy this later 'at retail', I'd say you really should buy it NOW if you really like it and want to - and both of those things seem to be true, so...
Hi, I'm new to this game and I'm planning on buying the 1.5 core game on KS and have a few questions...
What current expansion do you guys recommend me buying? only have the budget for just one right now.
what about new expansions? do you have to pay for them now or can you buy them at a later date? also what about shipping cost for them? finally if I had to get one new expansion, which one do you suggest? there seems to be new ones that require current (old) expansions to work.
If you can only buy one expansion i'd go for one of two choices
1. Dragon King or Sunstalker
both give you an alternate campaign to play, the general consensus seems to be that Dragon King is better, but pick whichever you think looks best, discount is also best on Dragon King
2. Gorm
this provides an alternate monster to hunt right from the start of the game instead of the white lion which some people get burned out on after multiple campaigns
As to new expansion there is no guarantee the PM will reopen to let you buy these later on (but I would not be surprised if it does).
Shipping will be whatever it costs KD whenever it happens, they're not going to profiteer from it, but aren't going to loose money, they're guessing about $20 + $2 per expansion to Canada at present, but I'd expect it to go up as shipping costs are bound to keep rising
Expansion interactions
Red Witches: intereacts with Fade (a whitebox mini not in either KS) and the new Parriah expansion, from the sound of it neither are required but will probably make it better
Campaigns of Death sounds like you'll need a lot of the original expansions to make the most (or anything) of it
Inverted Mountain: requires lots of the new expansions
Silver City: sounds like you'll need the Lion God expansion from the first KS
Abysal Woods: Requires Spidiculese and the flower knight from the first KS
If you wanted to get one of the new ones i'd probably go for the gamblers chest as I think the new advanced rules will change up the game, it contains the atnas nemesis monster and a huge number of narrative sculpt minis,
if you wanted a more standard expansion id go for one that didn't intereact with any of the others, and wasn't late game only so
honeycomb weaver,
oblivion mosquito,
frogdog,
nightmare ram,
screaming god
Thanks for the advices. Since the Core game will be shipping this summer and expansions will ship separately at later dates, could I just pay for the Core game now, try it out this summer, and later back old and new expansions separately?
He (Poots) is playing that one close to his chest, that the PM is going to re open to add more down the line, treat this as a one time chance and anything that follows on in regards to getting more cracks at the PM as a happy bonus.
RedFox wrote: Since the Core game will be shipping this summer and expansions will ship separately at later dates, could I just pay for the Core game now, try it out this summer, and later back old and new expansions separately?
Maybe...
Adam will reopen the PM for each shipping wave to prepay the actual shipping fees "at cost". Assuming he allows people to add things to the pledges, the prices will almost certainly rise and availability to drop. So you can pay less for a guaranteed preorder right now, or pay somewhat more later, or pay full price at retail (assuming the items are available). I'm pretty sure there will be at least 1 chance to add Wave 4 items, once their specs are finalized, and I fully expect many items to cost more than what you'd pay right now.
I would agree, Poots is a smart man, he re-opened the first Kickstarter a few times to allow people to add on, but the price was higher each time as the reality of the production impacted him. Abyssal Woods will not stay 150 dollars, its around three times the content of the Dragon King, which is 150 dollars at retail.
KD:M does restocks of plastics, but the initial resins are all limited runs. Occasionally, they do encore runs of the resins. In general, buy now or it's gone.
RedFox wrote: Quick question what expansion include scythes? (Death Guard player here!)
That would be the Dragon King. Only place they are found in the original expansions. May be additional places with the new ones though, but no guarantees.
Alpharius wrote: Note: I *think* the 1.5 KDPM closes in...just under 1 hour!
It was supposed to close at 10am CA, but I'm not touching it, because I'd only muck it up. Or spend a lot more money than I should.
I'll be getting:
- 1.5 Upgrades
- Gambler's Chest
- First Hero
- Red Witches
- Screaming God
- Ivory Dragon
- Abyssal Woods
For how much I'm spending, I'm kicking myself for not getting one of the all-in BF specials. Oh, well.
Actually you're mostly getting free pinups with the more expensive pledges. If you only want actual gaming material the savings aren't as enormous. Check "pledge values" on https://stdobby.github.io/kingdomdeath/ For example Satans Lantern ($1666 pledge) has $2700 worth of content, but only $1800 of that is actual game content.
Monster 1.5 Upgrade Pack
Death Dice
Stone Face Inserts
Gambler's Chest
Super Survivors
Black Knight Expansion
Campaigns of Death
First Hero Expansion
Screaming God Expansion
I was really torn on the red witches, and I didn't end up getting them because it looked like you need to Gryphon expansion to make use of the gear they give you, and I don't really want the Gryphon expansion right now.

Really wish he would close this tomorrow (pay day). Oh well, guess I'll hope he re-opens.
Abyssal Woods and Ivory Dragon would be likely candidates for a price rise simply because of their scope.
Bossk_Hogg wrote: So which sets do we think are least likely to hold current estimated retail price? Oblivion Mosquito has a lot of figures in it for its price.
I think that Ivory Dragon is very likely to go up in price. Abyssal Woods might also bump up.

I got the models that were pretty and cool and I wanted. The models that were pretty but not cool? I didn't get. The models that were cool and I wanted but weren't pretty? Maybe next time. The models that were pretty and cool but I didn't want? Did not buy.
That works. I don't think the BGG'ers buying up all those expansions and talking about funds understand how much assembly and painting all these models are going to need.

Relatively lots of minis. Do you want the names of the sets I am ostensibly buying or the names of all the minis I am anticipating, including all the minis I have traded/will be trading my rulebooks, tiles, chits and cards for?
I spent $310 if that helps. Birthday money, holiday money, and Q1 budget, less certain unavoidable expenditures.
EDIT: I was trying to deflate the parade of purchase posts, but alas I gazed too long into the abyss.
PS: You should shee what autocorrect tried to do to "deflate". Glad I caught that one in time! Probably would have been appropriate in context, though.

Note that all of the New stuff in the GC and Wave 4 is ALL Narrative Sculpts, like Pinups. And Adam deliberately showed of that relatively simple "marble" paint scheme in the KS to de-intimidate potential painters. But yeah, it'll be quite a bit of work.

I like the cut of this man's jib, and not just because it matches my own...
Getting everything (gaming) last time wasn't that expensive, though. $90 for the core game, $30 for Dragon King... Under $400 total, and less than what you'd pay for 1.5 + GC.

In the last pitch paragraph it says "If the Survivors do manage to defeat the witches and obtain their cloaks, they will still need to steer the campaign in the right direction to find the material needed to craft armor that can withstand the touch of the cloak (currently the black rubbery spit from the gryphon!) So they can wear them!"
I think the red witches will be one of the most different fights of the mix and I'm a little sad I didn't get them.

685 Card errors, about 1500 backers that still need to fill out their survey. Emailing final warning shortly! Gotta keep chasing everyone up so we can get our production numbers ready! The factory need to know how many CONTAINERS of raw plastic to order!
~2185 total problems (assuming no overlap of card issue+incomplete) out of a minimum of 19,264 backers (number of late backers is unknown) is about an 89% completion rate at its worst. I gather that this isn't terribly unusual for KS campaigns, primarily due to people placing a small pledge for access to the post-campaign manager that then decide not to pursue it further. Now, if he's in the triple digits on pledges for hundreds of dollars that weren't completed that'd be much more noteworthy from an outside perspective. From Adam's perspective though you don't want one of those $5 add-on only pledges to balloon into a multi-game order at the last second since he's trying to get order quantities down.
Can't wait for all the goodies to start showing up, even though I know it'll be nearly 2018 before the first bits start showing up and probably 2019 and beyond for the rest (I already have all the present expansions... )

I closed late, so my Backerkit number was over 19,000. That means there were a minimum of 2,185 late backers. 2,185/ 21,185 is still a 10% problem rate. The 685 card errors are simply banks being surprised by sudden $kk purchases from "Adam Poots", but I'd expect almost all of those to get sorted out. So that leaves the 1,500... With some being potentially Satan pledges (who pledges $1,666 and ignores it?), that could be over $2.5M! If he has to refund $2+M, that's a huge hit to the project. As for the $5 Add-ons, there were only 625 also consider the 1,382 Upgrade-only backers that might jump into a big number, going to full games and adding expansions. Of course, it's probably not that bad, but the big numbers make it a real headache.
If I were Adam, I'd simply refund the under $100 backers and remove the option to add core games. Upgrade packs can still bump up to a core, but that limits his production exposure in a big way.

I am honestly surprised that you did care about what I pledged for. I wasn't trying to be hostile; I just did not understand. I figured the list posting was about self expression, not sharing with a caring community. I was wrong, so I apologize.
In the spirit of sharing, I bought only add ons:
Nightmare Ram, because that is the quintessential KDM monster in my mind. Also, cool armor kits.
Screaming God, because it looks huge and terrifying and kind of Wayne Barlowe/Guillermo del Toroish. Also, cool narrative sculpts.
Frogdog, because those armor kits fit my fantasy army very well, and also because the monster itself looks just like a creepy sculpture in a friend's grandmother's house of a frog with an old woman's face and bosom. It's practically a rose/turtle/19 call-out from a Stephen King story for me.
Flower Armor, because it looks cool (and pretty).
Pariah, which looks like Jareth the Goblin King if he had appeared in a del Toro film.
Super Survivors, because Dragon Ball. And I never expected the perfect Beetle Knight to be that handsome. So handsome.
I think I got the Death Armor...or maybe the Black Knight? Some awesome bad guy armor for sure.
I think(?) I got the honeycomb weaver, too, because it's such a great monster and the armor is totes John Blanche on mescaline (so, John Blanche).
If I had the money, I would have gone for the Gryphon so he could Harryhausen my Dragon King, the pin ups with the skull helms and staffs or swords because who doesn't like evil cosplay sorceresses?, the Ivory Tree Silver Mountain whatever expansion with all the cool minis, and the Kingsman pin up because the kingsman is still one of my favorite KDM minis and could plausibly sneak into a hidden fortress to rescue some lordling in distress ("Aren't you a little thic to be a kingsman?").
If the pledge manager opens up some time from now, after I have a chance to save up and pay for Rising Sun, I'll add some of those later expansions. Maybe I'll try to eBay a King's Hand or some of the other cool minis from the core box.
Bob, that's a much more interesting share, and I like the explanations.
In the list sharing, I'm just curious to see what people's tastes are, given how KD:M has such a variety of things to get, from cutesy cheescake/beefcake pinups, to diorama set pieces (Behind the Wall); from funny monsters (Sunstalker), to freaky monsters (Frogdog); and from single model adds (Flower Knight) to massive campaigns (Abyssal Woods).
I appreciate that your tastes are different than mine, so I was just curious where you went with it.
For example, while I liked the Death Armor, but I decided to swap that for Screaming God which has even more armors plus a giant monsters, plus the gorgeous Illuminated.
OTOH, the Nightmare Ram didn't really do anything for me, neither as a sculpt, nor as a dungeon crawler (I have SDE for that), also that I see Gorm as more iconic.
I was also waffling on the Black Knight, and didn't add them either.
It's all good.
BTW, there are a LOT of people asking for a reopen for Wave 3/4 down the line. I think we'll see that. Not sure if Wave 2 will see a reopen, though.
And yes, those guys are coming your way. Heh, hadn't thought about the Honeycomb weaver like that.
Personally, my #1 excitement is for the Woods expansion, I think it had everything I was really looking forward to other than the black knight and ram. Wasn't sold on the mountain expansion b/c.... eh. Just too huge and I'm pretty skeptical that it needs to be played with exactly those expansions. Also, enough misses that I wasn't in to it.
The nightmare Ram has all the KDM staples: faces, hands, a lantern, flesh like a stripped chicken, probably some genitals somewhere. The distilled, and presumably sticky, essence of Kingdom Death in one squick-worthy mini. Of course, the King was an even better specimen of KDMness, which is why I shelled out for the Lantern Festival...
On the other hand, I can't get over the Gorm looking like a big baby. It looks like the kind of doll monster that would bite Barbarella's clothes in suggestive places. However, I can see where you're coming from on that mini with regards to iconic KDM design.
Is it bad that I have no idea what waves any of the things I bought are in? I remember the cool monsters and armor sketches, but when it comes to dates, I just assume everything will take years to arrive.

I'll have to go through the PMs again when I have time and see where the final trade tally settled. Was honeycomb weaver included? I forget.
@Bob, Gorm has extra arms, lantern lure, bare flesh, and testes each the size of a Space Marine's head! He's just not made of extra arms like the Ram. I think maybe you like when extra arms when they're integrated into the body? Ram & Pariah both do that.
Wave 1 is Core Game (only) - Q2/3 2017?
Wave 2 is current Expansions - Q4 2017?
Wave 3 is Pinups = 2018
Wave 4 is new Expansions - 2019?
Wave 5 is stuff that goes late (likely Ivory Dragon & Abyssal Woods) - 2020?
I locked in the Satan's Lantern pledge early on, which, I think was almost everything? Then, of the add-ons that were not included in that pledge, I grabbed the Pathfinder pinup crossover, the candy/cola one, the Zombicide crossover, and the 3d plastic board. I think the only thing I didn't get was the anime dude crossover, which I was not familiar with, didn't think was that great looking, and so passed on it.
Keep in mind I watched the first KS and drooled over everything, but could not afford to back it at the time. I've wanted so many of the kits that sold out fast on the webstore and then were only available for jacked up prices on ebay. I am an OCD completionist on so many levels, that I decided to go all-in this time even though I still cant really justify the amount of money I dropped on this KS...
Adam already said that Wave 1 will slip by 3 months.
Still as Wave 1 & 2 don't require new tooling or development, you'd think they'd be (relatively) quick to ship out once Adam can lock in for quantities.
Lot of people reporting receiving an email with non-functioning links claiming that they're in jeopardy of forfeiting their pledges as they haven't finalized them
Even though they had, paid for extras and been charged for them.
I am one of those people too!
A bit worrying, and as far as I know there hasn't been an 'official explanation' for this yet either...
I thought we'd all learned from previous kickstarters to complete our pledge managers as soon as possible? Pledge managers are like filing taxes. There's no real advantage in waiting and you could cause yourself serious problems if you don't get your pledge done in time.
JohnHwangDD wrote: When did you complete your pledge? The comments suggest it's only those people who weren't locked at least 24 hours prior to close.
Not the case here - locked it around 11:40AM EST, and my card was successfully charged.
I'm not too worried, as I've got the e-receipt, as well as screenshots, etc.
You locked with less than a day prior to close, which is why you got the message.
I think what Backerkit is designed to do is to send a "FINAL WARNING" to anybody who doesn't lock within 24 hours of the close, and that most Creators pair that with a 24 hour notice that also goes out as an Update.
In this case, Backerkit ran the final warning notice, which worked fine, except that it forgot to test if the pledges were locked before it sent. Backerkit ought to work on that. If every backer sends a note to Backerkit and to Adam, they'll fix their script for the next time.
I couldn't add much, just didn't have the money at the time due to buying a new house soon and those expenses. If only he had waited a few more days to close it, payday was yesterday, and I also unexpectedly got my bonus for my good performance review for last year. Can't really complain too much, still getting good stuff for a good price.

My guess is that the system had a delay in checking the processed accounts. A very small percent of backers received both emails. If you got a confirmation email AND a warning email. Ignore the warning email.
If you account shows your survey as complete and processed do not send a ticket to our support system asking if you account is ok.
You can check your account to see if your pledge has be processed. If it has you are good to go.

Our goal is to get Core Game fulfillment underway or finished before Gencon, so that we can bring units for sale. I have no intention of selling Core Games before Backers are shipped theirs. We'll see how it all goes over the next few months tho!
Ah, Gencon - the goal of many, many projects and people!
I'm surprised he didn't include some sort of caveat in his kickstarter. I know that were I to do a kickstarter, I'd definitely spell out that having stock for GenCon is a priority. As long as you let everyone know ahead of time and keep to your own terms it should be fine. There's no reason Adam should miss out on sales for this.
JohnHwangDD wrote: OTOH, if he's express-freighting piles of games for Gencon attendees to flip on eBay, then I'm not going to be happy with that.

That's always a risk, unfortunately.
That could spin out of control real fast. Some of use missed the post about there already being delays and pretty sure people would miss a post or note about there being some for sale at GenCon. Adam is trying to minimize rocking the boat on this KS.
OT: So any advice or guides for GenCon? Going to be doing it for the first time this summer.
Loyalty to your fanbase is pretty important if you want them to be loyal to you. I think it's a smart move for him to work as hard as he can to at least have the shipping process started by the time gencon hits.
Gencon is mid-August, so he has a hair over 4 months to produce, package and transport items to in-country distribution for final delivery. While that sounds like a long time, 1 month is on the water and in Customs, so he only has 3 months to for production and packing. I think starting delivery prior to Gencon is possible, but a little tight.
I'd be quite happy for him to sell at Gen Con providing that delivery to backers has at least started, and that copies sold at Gen Con are at full retail price. But I recognise that not all backers feel the same way.
I am relatively speaking a latecomer to KD:M, too -- I didn't back the 1st KS so delivery of my 1.5 box this summer will be the first time I've gotten my hands on the game. I guess that someone who backed the 1st KS, and owns everything KD have ever released, might be a bit more angry if their copy is sitting in the warehouse while non-backers get to buy copies at Gen Con.
Still, the reality of the industry is that Gen Con is *the* big event of each year, both for creating a buzz and just plain shifting product. Anyone who wants to see KD succeed should be willing to see a stall there, selling games.
Eh, mebbe he'll just sell product that wasn't featured on KS. Wasn't he at another convention selling models and not the base game (because he needed another print run)?
Ian Sturrock wrote: I guess that someone who backed the 1st KS, and owns everything KD have ever released, might be a bit more angry if their copy is sitting in the warehouse while non-backers get to buy copies at Gen Con.
I'm not sure this hypothetical person would care very much. Sure, they wouldn't have their 1.5 rules yet, but if they backed the first campaign they'd already have the base game which is a far greater asset than the latest rules. If any group would be "angered" by such a theoretical sale, I'd expect it'd be the group you belong to of "people who don't have the game already." I suppose there could be a v1 backer who sold their game (likely at a profit) and then re-bought it, but I find it hard to muster sympathy in that event (since them not having it is a direct result of their actions) like I could for new backers.
The timeline seems very tight even with manufacturing already somewhat started and this being mostly existing product. I will say that once they got things in-country for the first KS that fulfillment did seem to be quite quick for the US (can't speak to other nations, obviously). Given the fun currently going on in the Eurozone, fulfillment should be extra fun for them for the later waves (which are almost guaranteed to be post-Brexit now).
I'd be entirely happy for him to sell at Gencon whatever the status of the KS stuff is,
but considering the way the manufacturing is done (sprues at one place, printing at another and then packing at either at one of the above, or possibly a 3rd location) unless he's in a position to at least be packing completed boxes into containers for shipping he's not going to be able to do it
since he'll have to get all of each component done in a single run (or pay much higher prices), once the boxes are assembled he can airfreight some to get 2-3 weeks jump on the containers by sea to the US (customs being equal) but other than that there's not going to be a huge amount of wiggle room timing wise
Just bailed on my first KD purchase. Just short of $40 USD to ship a fig to the Great White North. I like the figs, but not that much. Certainly when you factor in how much resin and plastic I'm already sitting on. ~sigh~
Hey everyone, I am hoping you can help. I have recently taken a shine to a few Kingdom Death models and was hoping to start a collection. Much to my disappointment I found the online store doesn't stock much (and their US store seems to be the only place in the world to buy from).
Am I correct in saying there is currently no active Kickstarter to pledge for and not really anyway of getting most of the models outside of crazy eBay prices?
How often do they bring back popular miniatures for "encore" second runs? Is stuff from the kickstarters eventually expected to go up for general sale?
Thanks for your help. I find this range surprisingly hard to find information for online.
the store restocks every month or two, typically around the middle of the month (although when there's a holiday like Halloween the restock tends to be then). You'll typically see 2-4 new resin minis and 2-4 encores when a restock hits (although if you're not online most may well sell out before you see the email)
second Full Metal Planet in Japan which does get stock on a regular basis (if you can cope with the Japanese language website)
and the final place worth looking at is CMON who sold their stuff before they were a big hit and sometimes stuff shows up there (none in stock at present)
is the main unofficial KD facebook group although they're trying to direct selling post to the place below you'll still see some temporarily as they get posted (enough time to at least start PMing for a deal)
a KD trading group where some will offer stuff at more reasonable prices (although a fair few will still look to get what the ebay rates are)
The stuff from the KS (all plastic) will go to the normal KD retailers as it comes out with the reprint of the base game now probably Q3 2017.
next reprints of the existing expansions (The Lion Knight is getting 4 extra minis in the reprint so avoid the original for now) set for Q4 2017
then the new content in Q1 2018 and Q1 2019
probably the best resource to see what has been release in the past is http://vibrantlantern.com/ (although it is missing some stuff)
also the sold out tab on the KD store although a bunch of the OOS stuff was taken down during the KS (to avoid confusion/keep some of the more NSFW stuff off the radar?) https://shop.kingdomdeath.com/collections/sold-out
If you do get tempted by stuff on ebay plastics are likely to be real (I've not seen any fake HIPS sprues yet), but there are a lot of recasts of the resins (often priced as the real things)
Real KD minis come with a brown craft box with an image stamped on the front and a business card like small art card (you might also have a numbered COA and a larger postcard sized art card) If you're not offered that it's most likely to be a recast
(the exception are a few rare pieces that came in grab bags one year when Adam cleared out a bunch of miscasts and some stuff he'd decided wasn't good enough for a real release after he's ordered the casts)
oh and the plastics are the closest thing to resin quality in terms of detail that I've come across in a mini, so don't discount them, especially the big monsters where they become more affordable than the $1-200 resins

Wow, this is an amazing post. Thanks so much for all the time you put into it. Exactly what I need. I will go through the links 1 by 1 and also happy to hear some stuff can be expected for retail in Q3 and Q4 of the year. Thanks a lot :-)
the design and sculpting are by the KD crew, but the casting is going to be by Soda Pops casting people, but if the previous cross overs are anything to go by it will be popular
(note don't try and mix anything else from the store into your relic knights KS order as that's not allowed and will lead to your order being canceled)

Will it be playable in KD:M? Same scale? Or scaled for RK2, so unsuitable for KD:M games?

Apr 6 2017 on Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5
Ah, my communication style is typically to share when there is something significant and worthwhile enough to put together an update. Updates can take a long time to create and I've had to be very "agile" since the campaign ended, attending to many smaller parts of the project and ensuring that everything for our first print deadline was taken care of. Updates will most likely be slow at first as we gear and staff up. Thanks in advance for your understanding.
May 2 2017 on Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5
In all seriousness tho, thanks for your patience! We will have an update when I am ready to share. I needed to be absolutely ontop of the reprint timeline. I do have a growing collection of cool stuff to share!

This is not surprising at all. The real saving grace about KD is that Adam puts his nose to the grindstone when gak needs to get done. Fortunately, he does deliver, and he does Update when he can come up for air.
I'd guess, Adam is currently on the critical path to get production underway so that initial samples of 1.5 can be ready to show at GenCon. Once he's able to hand off to production, then he'll be able to catch his breath and show what he's been up to, in another of his epic mega updates.
WRT Lantern Festival / King, I'll bet he did. And he found that it made far more sense as within the context of something like Abyssal Woods with a $150KS / $200 initial MSRP / $250+ in-shop MSRP. 3-5 years from now, I bet we see Adam KS Lantern Festival / King as something huge, glorious, and hugely expensive.
Who would Adam hand them off to? I think he's practically a 1-man shop of sorts. Although for the revenue he's raised, if he could get a trusted ops manager on board, that would probably be money well spent.
I'm disappointed that he won't sell at GenCon unless pledges go out. This was my first KDM KS and I'd be perfectly fine with him moving product even if mine was delayed. Treating it as a business ensures I'll eventually get more content!
OTOH, loyalty is a two way street: the more a company does to demonstrate that they respect their customers, such as, y'know, when they get a vast interest-free loan, it's probably worth giving backers what they paid for way in advance than act like Prodos and let those people down and try to get money off of new customers. Not saying KD would be run like that, but those are the poles of that spectum.
Clanan wrote: I'm disappointed that he won't sell at GenCon unless pledges go out. This was my first KDM KS and I'd be perfectly fine with him moving product even if mine was delayed. Treating it as a business ensures I'll eventually get more content!
He's treating it as a business, by taking care of his most loyal and financially-invested Customers first. That's excellent business.
Estimated Wave 1 Fulfillment Start: End of August 2017.
Plastic production for the core game and update pack was finished as of April 2017 and we have approved the paper assets for production!
Base Inserts
A lot of you have reached out to me requesting that the base insert packs be added to wave 1 fulfillment. I wanted to let you know that I am trying my best to accommodate what SEEMS like a pretty simple request. Please understand that all the timetables are pretty tight and it is likely I won't be able to do this. I am trying tho!
Expansions
Right now production of the plastic components are underway and I am lining up the schedule so that we can fulfill these for the holidays of 2017. I do not have any dates from the manufacturer yet, but since its a straight reprint, it SIGNIFICANTLY reduces turn around time. So take that date
Card Pack
Ah yes. The ever-elusive card pack! I have slatted this to be available around Jan 2018. If possible I'd like to move it up to coincide with Wave 2 for the holidays. The plan is to sell this via our web store, it will not be available thru backer kit.
Gencon
We will be attending Gencon 2017 as exhibitors! Our Booth will be in the same location as last year and in fact, we got a little bit bigger!
New Developments
Personally I have been hard at work on the content for advanced Kingdom Death monster. The philosophy system has already been thru a host of alpha's and we are looking to start actively testing it's first prototype somewhere in June. It has been extremely satisfying to comb back thru everything and to embellish on the settlements growth via survivor development. The system is leaning more towards survivor's learning and contributing so the curve of powerful survivor's being developed is more in line with the escalation of the game and less of a random development.
Lion God Expansion, Expansion - Silver City
Dungeon romp replaces the hunt phase. Currently have the Lost Knight up and running on the showdown board, but we are going back in and incorporating it's fight experience more into the dungeon delving element of the game.
Inverted Mountain
We are developing all the monsters for the Inverted Mountain campaign at the same time, so we can ensure that its the best campaign arc yet. Insanity is going to play a major role, with certain disorders being prerequisites to innovations, fighting arts and sometimes gear!
It was weird getting a dark elf variant before a regular dark elf.
Wish the model had the thick belt around her waist still like in the art. Ain't nothing wrong with scantily clad ladies, but the belt kind of went with her whole look.
Gave me an Arshes Nei (from Bastard!) vibe, who in turn always gave off a Nei (from Phantasy Star 2) vibe. Given Poots' tastes and interests, that probably shouldn't surprise me.
Hey folks - as someone who pledged $1 (the KS coincided with a once in a lifetime holiday - very bad timing!) I have been sent a few reminders. One of these let's me add a KD 1.5 set as an 'add-on' - is this a legitimate way I can get hold of the game, admittedly at a higher price? Has anyone else done likewise?
Alternatively, what are the chances of the core game ever hitting retail at any point? (I know previously chances fall between Slim and none)
Well the pledge manager is closed, so unfortunately you can't buy anything at all at this point, except hope it opens again at some point in the future. But the core sets will be shipped in august and have already been produced, so you're out of luck for that one I'm afraid. Some people think they might open it before wave 4 (in 2019 I think?) to allow you to buy the new expansions, but that's no help to you. So in short, you'll have to wait for it to be restocked in the KD:M shop. It won't ever hit retail per Adam himself AFAIK.

I mean, I don't think it will ever make it to 'retail' either, but it will probably be available on his site, and will probably be the subject of some good sales once or twice a year too...so there's always hope!
He sold the original for $300 a few times but it was usually $350. Not sure what the prices will be on the new version since it does have a few upgraded parts.

Yours desparately,

Yes, had you opened the Pledge Manager a few months ago, you would have been able to add a full Core 1.5 game. If you can still get in, then you should add one if you want one. Adam stlill needs to open the PM to collect shipping for Wave 1, so that might be your last chance to get a Core 1.5 at the KS price.
The point of 1.5 was to restock the store, so, if you define "retail" as the Kingdom Death store, then it is almost certain once Adam fulfills KS backers and late pledgers. It'll probably be $350 or even $400 instead of $300.
Good luck!

I do still have access to the pledge manager (and it lets me add the core game as an extra), so perhaps my best bet is to try and add one, then hope there is some 'additional stock' that has been produced by this first run that I can get my hands on?

It's a bit of a gamble, but at worst you'd end up with a refund, so probably worth it.
You could email to ask first, but that whole ask for forgiveness later vs. permission up front thing might work in your favor here!

I just remember hearing it said, so I'm about as trustworthy a source as a White House spokesman! But yeah, it will certainly show up on the KDM store. Myself, Im just so happy I caved and went in on the KS with as much as I could spare (core game+gamblers+6 expansions). Getting more and more excited every day!
Mymearan wrote: Well the pledge manager is closed, so unfortunately you can't buy anything at all at this point, except hope it opens again at some point in the future.
Has Adam actually said that?
I mean, I don't think it will ever make it to 'retail' either, but it will probably be available on his site, and will probably be the subject of some good sales once or twice a year too...so there's always hope!

Same here - this KS killed my gaming budget for...quite some time, because I went in for a lot of expansions too.
Figured I'd want them eventually, and getting anything from the KD Store is...difficult and way too random.

If you did not late back, you should subscribe to the KD newsletter for notice when the they restock their UK warehouse for general distribution.
Thanks.
I dont suppose the Sodapop/Kingdom Death cross overs also come to the UK?
I think you'll need to contact SPM directly for an answer there. Good luck...
That looks pretty awkward, I'd wait until you see the new box tray, since the current one is fine except strength already. And for models, a box for the big models and a foam tray for human-sized works fine. It's not like you're running around all the time with your 20 lbs of rules and a bunch of giant minis. It's easy to bring the specific models you want for a couple game sessions.

I'm getting that too, and it is looking to be quite the bonus addition to that set.
Heh.
I had imagined the Gambler would be holding the die like the artwork, sized on a 50mm base like the Flower Knight. I had no idea they would sculpt the Atlas pose holding the HUGE corpse ball, nor that the ball would be 100mm across. That's simply amazing. The Gambler's Chest is the sort of incredible value of the original KS'd game. I'm so geeked over this.

Absolutionis wrote: Considering the Gambler's Chest is pretty much the centerpiece of the entire KD1.5 campaign, it'd be odd if this got cancelled.
Given that Adam raised $12M during the KS and who knows how much afterward, and is charging shipping separately, I don't think anything is getting cancelled.
If anything, the addition of the Goblin Armor and reveal of the Gambler Atlas (vs. the smaller figure) show that Adam has the financial resources and freedom to make the expansions bigger and better than he had originally budgeted.
Also the wave 1 fulfilment has been delayed til end of September/mid October, so some of the stuff in the box can be shrink wrapped and a heavier duty box used with foam.
FWIW the twilight knight detective is almost certainly going to be a promo w/ blue backed cards, meaning there's not actually a way to incorporate it into games unless you choose to house rule.
Personally, not super excited about the showing. The oversized minis are nice, but, eh. The first male is pretty good, but IDK, I guess I have enough monsters and T&A fighters that nothing is really standing out to me...
Man these miniatures are beautiful. I'm never in sync with the release schedule though. When I have spare cash it's harder to get than a gold bar. When I got no money it's everywhere.
Someday KD. Someday...
Anyone have any idea when general purchase copies of these will finally be out for sale again (and almost instantly sold out no doubt).
Judging by the loop on the top - maybe it's a special release KD Christmas ornament we'll be able to get come December?
The "fruit" of the Lonely Tree has a similar hook/ring on it and it takes on some of the characteristics of things it's eaten may be it had KFC for dinner
DaveC wrote: Dung Beetle Knight pin up is the same size as the DBK
Wow, yeah, some of those are pretty funky scales. The Manhunter pinup also looks huge.
I hope those are just oversized masters, since those are actually some of the pinups I was kind of interested in, but I think they're just large (maybe with the intent to be useable alternative monsters?)
+1. I'd been on the fence, but with that 100mm clearly some sort of boss, some baby monsters, and a nice variety of more interesting ones in between, yeah, I'm super happy about that set (though still a distant second to the woods expansion). The only thing I don't really like is Atnas, which sounds like Green Knight Armor levels of needing to work to an insane degree on getting to it, except then it'll be an obnoxious boss. IDK, I think the concept sounds flat, short of excellent execution.
I know I'll be storing mine in my display case. I fully expect that to be a collection centerpiece. It's just a fantastically cool design and execution.
wow that rocks - and already in plastic ready to go
love the narrative sculpts - personally I wish he would go to doing more of the random store release of these vs. pinups (nothing against them but already so many available etc)
Yeah, I've gotten pretty much overloaded on pinups... it got kind of tiresome, how samey they are, and I have a limit to how many dynamically posed T&A ladies I have any interest in buying.

Completely agree about Abyssal Woods, the concept Dragon Goblin blew me away and I had to get it and every expansion connected to it... I even skipped Gorm so I could get all the Woods stuff. And WOW did he look even better than I expected. It's honestly one of the best, if not the best, models I've ever seen. Jesus it's so amazing.
spiralingcadaver wrote: He's part of the Abyssal(?) Woods giganto-expansion, rather than listed as a separate monster, if that's where the confusion comes from.
Also, anyone there or tapped in, is there any info on what they're selling other than presumably old stuff and the detective promo?
the only other new stuff on sale seems to be summer dice, KD card sleaves and the oblivion mosquito t-shirt,
with the forge god being the star of the hard to get existing stock (some are suggesting they're old stock, but I've seen a lot posting they've bought the limit of 2 so I wonder if it's an encore, or if perhaps he never actually had the full amount cast and now has)
After seeing that Oblivion Mosquito, it looks so much cooler and less disgusting than the concept art showed. Here's hoping the pledge manager will reopen for a quick time.

Still looks like a lady with a giant sleeping bag/phallus with a cartoon frowny face on the tip plus obligatory KD extra hands... I just find it about as silly a hyperbole of KD as there is.
So, double-checking, those busts are just for display, not actual things you can buy, yes?
Her wings are missing in the earlier pictures here's a more recent one and below apparently these are parts of the plastic board (still WIP) no other news on its final design
I really, really need the Oblivion Mosquito. I didn't buy any Mountain expansions because I thought I would need all of them to get the "complete" experience and I couldn't afford that since I went all in on Abyssal Forest, but I think I'll have to make an exception.
Im torn on that obliv mosquito scuplt - there is lot of great stuff going on with the back of it but "the big sack" thing with the odd face on the front is just not working for the mini imho....
That's actually pretty cool. I think the nipples are rather silly, but I like that. Hmm, will probably wait for plastic just 'cause it'll probably be a little cheaper and still pretty good quality, plus cards.
After bailing on the first Kickstarter due to the pvc (that obviously then became styrene) and then being between jobs for the second, looks like I will be surviving come the end of the year.
The booth is pretty impressive this year, great to see the growth of the game and the company.
Gamgee wrote: Did he mention when general sales will go up for the main box for non-backers? What about pre-orders for non-backers?
To be honest, when I asked it was not entirely clear when/if that would happen.
I think the game will never be readily available. Only as part of a pre-order each time they move to print a run. The guys said that they will try to offer it, but each time they sell out a run, so it's very much first come first served and unlikely to be around for long. They can't print a load and have them sitting in a warehouse, which is fair enough as this is such an unusual beast of a game, in theme and scale.
Hence why I decided to bite the bullet and abuse the credit card... plus it's 25% off if you preorder at the show.
A few months work was done on KD Labyrinth but it's been sidelined for the moment
The plan for a cheaper more retail focused version of the game KD Quest has been shelved.
The sprites are for a PC game in the vain of old school Prince of Persia
At 24 (or maybe one or two more) expansions KDM is pretty much done and future focus will be on other things.
2 containers of 1.5 games have already shipped but this isn't nearly enough to even get started shipping to backers.

So what is he doing with all his 'free time' if he isn't working on KDM anymore? ;J
