Yup, we've set a new World Record for Mega-Apoclaype Games!!!! 4 Turns, 2 days, and just over 550,000pts of assembled GW models!!! (95% of the models had basic colors)

MasterDRD: It was a hell of a weekend! TONS of fun! LOL! Khorne Legions won on table #1 (though we were down 58,000pts), the Imperial forces lead by the Dark Angels captured a narrow victory on Table 2, and Table #3 saw the Eldar crush the Space Wolves...(which counted as a Chaos Victory)...

Looks like the event was a blast. I wish I had known about it. I have many thousands of points of Chaos that would have marched for the Dark Lord.

On of our Khorne Legions lives up in Redding, and he's hosting the NorCon events, which #2 will be sometime next summer i'm assuming...I'll get his info and PM you later with it, he's a very cool cat and been in the hobby about as long as I have and loves it just the same! We'll be doing another Mega-Apoclypse game up there as well (first one was featured on front cover of Redding's main newspaper!).

Well, congrats on going to all that effort, and I'm sure it looked cool. I dunno if I see much point in playing that sort of game though - less tactics, more cram everything onto the table in a massive traffic jam, and buckle down to hours of rolling dice and taking them off again.

That's cool, but I fail to see the point. The tables are too small for any strategy to be going on.

There are house rules buried in the GW website.

Cool. I was going to go to a Mega-Apocalypse in St. Louis the other day, but failed to go due to personal reason. They were attempting to break a record to, but I'm pretty sure 550,000 pts beat anything they did.

Ghostwarrior: LOL! Yeah, before I started playing Apocalypse (or even 40K) the games at the shop would tend to lean heavily one way or the other...rules issues...no limitations...lots o' crazy stuff! But I've developed a set of Rules that I run my games by, and they're constantly changing with each game, to try and keep both theme and game balance without handcuffs!

Besper: It becomes habit and everyone developes there own system of doing things. Since i have so many freakin' models, I keep things systematic for myself and go from Right to Left, and rolling batches of dice at a time, like "these 3 Havoc squads w/Lascannons are firing at your Daemonhunter Terminators" and then roll all 12 dice for the Lascannons, then if in range, the 12 Bolters.


I-bounty-hunt-the-elderly: Actually no, there's a lot of tactical play to the game. From Deployment, to Reserves to target priorities to "smoke-and-mirrors"...unless you play in a game like this it's a bit hard to explain, but after Turns 1 for both sides, between all the Apoc Templates and fire power and fast moving hard hitting units, there's a lot less models and a lot of holes!

Amaya: Nope, you're wrong there. Lots of different styles of strategy, as I've mentioned above, including Strategic Assets, Formations, who lines up accross from whom, etc. It's not 40K, it's a very hybrid form of it, more akin to large scale Fantasy actually...

SteelSpectre: Yeah, about a month ago (or less) the Apoc-Eclipse group just broke over 400,000pts...first to do so! Now we've re-set the record! (we did 310,000pts in March, and 365,000pts in June). The games and the escalation build and the friendly smack talk has been undeniably fun!!!


burning_phoneix: Deployment and Reserves becomes a huge key to games like this, you must really time things, and kinda be able to predict how much of your models are going to get wiped out...and how many will make it to the first and second rounds of combat, etc.
