There weren't many space marine models and one of them was black templars' emperor's champion and another was Astorath the Grim for the blood angels and it is a cool model so it seems an obvious choice!

Ok did a bit more tonight on the Terminator Chaplain, he is still a WIP but he is coming along nicely now.

First I attached the little scroll to the chain on his leg and I did the three gems on his armour.

Then I painted up the highlights on the black which will probably need more work but it is a start! I also painted more of the Gold on his armour and on his arms and crozius, I went for a very orangey gold, what do you guys/gals think? Do you like the effect?

Sorry this one is a little fuzzy.

Well he isn't finished but I am happy with what I've done so far, any C&C for this stage?

Ok, you've got to do a conversion with a LS storm and a drop pod. I love the first one you did a while back and I'd love to see that tutorial you were working on!

I did the math, I think I can get the bits to do 5 for less than $100!!! (Like I need 5 of these. But that's the addiction factor, I guess.)

I love what you're doing with this chapter. Keep up the good work.
And thanks for showing us your finecast mini. The more we see, the better informed consumers we all are.

Thanks ruyn, I must admit that conversion was a lot of fun, unfortunately it seems I didn't take enough photos whilst making it so I will have to do another one to make the tutorial. It was an entry for golden demon so I put quite a bit of effort into it. As I mentioned earlier in the blog I have bought a Land speeder storm and I will probably be doing an extra big one! I just need to remember what I did with the rest of the old drop pod and the other punisher cannon!

So Gits' typo makes another post lol!

Thanks for the encouragement, it is so nice to get back from work and see someone has posted on your blog. I fear progress will slow as I am trying to get on with the Golden Demon entries at the mo. I will update as and when progress is made.

Ok done some more work on the Chaplain, he's nearly finished. Here are some pics!

I tried a new photo method the first photo is done normally the rest I tried to soften the effect of the flash so there is no really white reflections, let me know what you think.

Well any C&C is welcomed, thanks for reading!

OH-I Wanna get out of here

I like the way the 1st pic looks. Very crisp. Chaplain looks good, its one of my favorite models, and you certainly did it justice!

I just discovered that this chapter isnt a homebrew btw. I got a bunch of books, and lo and behold, there is an Emperor's Wing marine!

Is there actually an Emperors Wings chapter or are you talking about the cover of Crucible of war which was my inspiration for the chapter colours? I have posted a pic of it on page 2 of this blog. I'll be interested to know if there is an Emperors Wings chapter.

Thanks for the input maybe I will stick with the normal method then, it was just that Perkustin commented that the models looked over washed in the photos and I was trying to tone down the reflections on the model that might give it a wet/washed look.

I'll try and get him fully finished by the end of the weekend but I have had a nightmare week so far with flight tests and I've still got to do another flight test on Saturday for my multi engine instrument rating! It is a pain of a test but I'll be glad when it is out of the way! Then it is back into the books to revise for my motor bike theory test! All go in real life!!

The book is a collection of short stories but the only space marines in there are called the Strom Warriors and they aren't fighting Orks in the story and it doesn't describe them in any great detail so I think it was just a random piece of artwork.

You know it is amazing that I paint a model up and think, there that is pretty much done so I take some photos and put them in my blog, come back and look at them again and see loads of little things that still need doing!!! Arrrggghhh!!

tell me about it, this happens to me in real life all the time. I often find myself excited to show a friend (often who has not interest in models at all.) my recently completed models, then I finally notice that I missed a pistol holster or often even worse.

Hi everyone! Sorry my thread has been a bit inactive for a while but I have been very busy recently with work and play. Managed to mess up my motorbike test last week so I'll have to do that again soon! well I have done a little more on the chapter, I have finished the Terminator Chaplain at last! I have also recoloured the base of the Black Reach Dreadnought so he matches the rest of the army. Well here are some pics;

Well I hope people like the Chaplain, as usual any C&C is welcome.

No I'm not with the ATC, my wife bought me a trial lesson voucher. I actually work at Middle Wallop with the Army Air Corps, I'm a fixed wing instructor.

Damn these photos! I've just seen that the blue gem on his crozius has had too heavy a wash and will need some more picking out!

I've been looking at some other pictures of the Terminator Librarian that others have done and I'm considering painting the wings in the crozius a different colour as it makes it stand out more and considering some verdigris on the bolts on it too. What are your thoughts?

I would suggest painting the metal parts of the crozius with the turquoise wash first to give them a verdigris look first... then decide if you want to change the color of the wings.

neat idea by the way...

Ok so I've tried the Verdigris first to see what you guys think. It's better but I'm not sure if it still might benifit from the wings done in a stone effect or possibly bone like the chest piece etc.

Let me know what you think;

And it has also toned down the shoulder pad trim and the other bits of Gold/Brass on him too.

So what's the verdict?

Meh. Nothing wrong with what you've done mind you... just thinking that the meal areas might be too small to show it off properly.

No... Just not very descriptive (blame it on the iPhone). I just mean that the amount of surface area that you're painting is too small to show off the verdigris effect very well.

Oh, I suppose but it does tone down the Gold/Brass though.

Here are some better shots to see the crozius;

Does that mean that you think I should go for the stone effect?

While I think it looks good, I don't think it matches your model very well. The chaplain is good repair, likely takes care of his armor regularly, but has corrosion that takes extended periods of time to build up on his most prized item (his beatstick)? Don't make sense to me.
