Fair point, I think I'll change it back then and paint the winged section in stone for the contrast.

Thanks, it has always been one of my favourite models and it was great to paint him up!

Did a bit for the pre heresy conclave tonight and thought I should share the fruits of my labour with you on here to in case you aren't subscribed to that project.

Here are some pics;

Sculpted the helmet and filled in some unwanted lines on the skull shoulder pad. I also split the other shoulder pad and added rivets. He is going to be a pre heresy Death Guard.

Ok so took the C&C on board and got rid of the verdigris to make him shiny again and went for the stone effect on the wings of the Crozius. The Crozius isn't finished yet as I think the stone work needs more... uh work. Anyway pics;

So Gits and Whalemusic, what do you think?

I like. It matches the alternating gold and pale colors that are seen elsewhere on the model.

So got some time to do a little more tonight. I think that I have now finally finished the Terminator Chaplain! I also did the base colours for the Pre Heresy Death Guard for the new conclave project.

So here are the pictures;

First the Chaplain, can anyone spot anything that still needs doing or might need a bit more touching up?

Now the Death Guard;

Well I look forward to your comments and again please click on the images and vote for them in the gallery if you like them!

I assume you were going for Star Wars-esque Storm Trooper helmet, they look great.

One question though, what made you choose to come up to white from a black base coat? Or is that just because this is a test mini?

Hi Lenny! long time no see. I find if I work up to white from black it gives a greater depth to the white, I'm hoping to finish him this weekend so hopefully you'll see what I mean.

With the helmet I wanted it to look like the front cover marine off the horus heresy book galaxy in flames but I gave it a bit more of a snout.

Yeah I have been away finishing Uni (finally I can get back to some real work) I know what you mean about depth but I think the contrast of a pure black shadow against the white is a little too stark. It reminds me a lot of the old black lining technique of second edition.

Top job on the freehand though, its really come out great.

OH-I Wanna get out of here

The Termi, and the new Death Guard look great. I can't see anything that needs touching up on the termi, and obviously the DG is wip.

Thanks guys. Yes the Death Guard is WIP, I'm hoping to finish him this week. I'm intending to weather him quite heavily or do you think he should say pristine and white the way he is now?

No way, Death Guard's gotta be covered in grime. Give them that nice dirty look, a bit of a glimpse into their future.

So I have got back from my course that work sent me on and I've done a bit more on the pre heresy death guard. Here are the pics, what do you guys think?

I thought his helmet looked a bit clean on this side so messed it up a bit more.

W00t! Nice work! I am sad to see the nice white marine get all grungy...but they ARE Death Guard! And that is their destiny.

I've always loved that Chaplain model, and you've done it a great justice.

Thanks Gits!

I do have to apologise for the lack of content recently but my wife and I are in the process of buying our first house and we move this weekend so the house is full of boxes and there isn't much time to get on with the models.

Anyway I have finished the Death Guard marine unless I spot something in the pictures or you guys point something out! Here are the photos;

I tried photographing him against a non white background first to see if it contrasted well;

Well that is him from all angles! C&C welcome as usual. He was great fun to paint and I'm quite pleased with the end result even if the helmet didn't quite come out as I had hoped.

The helmet is actually my favorite part I think the grit and grim is really fitting for him.

Thanks WM, makes me feel better about the helmet but I did want it to look like the one on the front of Galaxy in Flames and I don't think I achieved it quite right.
I agree about the grit and grime I really wanted to show he'd been in the thick of it and how he just keeps coming!
