OH-I Wanna get out of here

I think a big problem with the one you made vs the one in the pic is that it has a head crest thing, which beakys lack. I think building up a standard helmet or maybe a GK helmet might work better. I'd love to see FW come out with some of those bad boys.

Hi guys! sorry for not having posted for a while but we just moved house and the internet just got connected today. I'm in the middle of unpacking but the new house means I get the box room as my painting room! It will take me a while to get organised but I should have some updates soon. I was at Games Day UK on sunday and entered my terminator chaplain, a tactical squad (just chancing my arm), the preheresy Death Guard in the open and I re-entered the ultra marines Land speeder after a bit more detailing and a bit more weathering. Unfortunately nothing made the cut but hey that's the way it goes some times. Well anyway it's good to be back and not having to access Dakka on my i phone without 3G!

Well had a little trouble with the new phone line and lost all calls and internet which has been a real pain but it is up and running again! Any way I picked up a cool new model at games day and I've started building it and I think it might just tip me towards doing a pre-heresy Death Guard army, even if it is a small one! Here are some teaser pics, I'll update as it progresses today.

You got the new FW LR! I have an original one of those (the old one's are a lot shorter though). I like these as they keep the shape and feel of the old ones while bringing the size and design in line with the modern models.

That looks hideously complicated to put together! I didn't even know Forgeworld made one of those. I'll be interested to see how it looks when it's finished.

Are you still in/around Southampton? If so we'll have to arrange a game sometime.

I have been looking on and off for one of the originals on Ebay and they always seem to go for £55 plus so I thought while I was at Games Day and had saved some money I might as well go for the Resin one for £80! It is a really nice model and I'm glad I have a bit of time off at the moment to build and paint her!!

Actually not that hard to put together, I would have assembled it completely by now but I want to paint some of it first before completing the build!

I'm about an hour away from Sotton now so not too bad, we could def arrange something as I have realised that the new set of 40K rules is due next year and I haven't even played this edition yet!!

Well more progress has been made;

I also thought this might be of interest to my readers/followers, all the juicy new stuff from Forge World with prices!

So done a bit more on the Land Raider, It has it's first layer of colour.

I should get some more done tonight!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
A bit more done, I have the basic white done on it and I've taken a few more shots around the Proteus so you can see the detail.

I'm now going to do some basic weathering details and start to decide on the areas for some green and what sort of chapter symbols to do and where.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ok that was looking far too clean for a Death Guard Land Raider so the first stage of weathering is on!

Any comments so far?

Well they are not to every ones tastes. I did pick up a Relic Contemptor too, I'll be building him soon!

Well it has been a while since I actually worked on the Emperor's Wings and it is getting to the point that I have had so many side tracks I'm considering amending the name of the blog! I have been side tracked again, this time I am doing a blood bowl team for a tournament this weekend, I couldn't resist putting some WIP pics up for you guys to take a look at, I'd better get my skates on though as there's still a lot of painting to do!

Anyway pics;

I've got the Ogryn as an Ogre, The marines are Blitzers, The Scouts are linemen and the Guard are throwers and Catchers. A bit of fun, can you imagine the look on the opponents faces when that lot trotted out from the dug out! Lol!

Looking good! I grew up on GW in the 80's, so the FW "Throwback" really has me amused.

Thanks for buying one for me to live vicariously through!

So some pics of my team, the judges liked the conversions and the painting! I was so pleased to win something!!

My favourite model is probably the scout/Lineman using his helmet to attack the enemy. I also quite like the Marine/Blitzer with power knuckle dusters!

Yea, I always had the idea for this kicking around Just finally got round to doing it!

Ok, so I've done a bit more to tactical squad 3. Blacked in some areas ready for highlighting and others for turning metal. I've started work on the chest eagles and done the lenses. Still got lots more to do but every time I get a bit more done it is progress!

So some update pics;

Did some more tonight, why do I always seem to be tired and falling asleep while painting! I guess I'm always trying to squeeze some painting time in to a busy life.

So anyway the results of my labour;

Did some more blacking in of sections and metallic areas as well as getting most of the bases done.

Well time for bed!

Thanks Ben.

I've been working on scenery this week, under-coated my realms of battle board, made some of the plastic scenery and dusted off some old bits I've been hanging on to for ages. It is great to finally be in my own home where I can build my board and get it all painted up and have it out to play on!

Here are some photos;

There is much more scenery to come! Just quite a bit of undercoating and painting to do!

Actually it was rammed but I thinned the ranks some what to make space for new models. I got whooped by necrons the week before last and decided to hook out my un-built models from the loft and get a few of the new ones from GW! How does three monoliths grab you?
