Yeah I saw that oneas well, the dino is excellent and although that's a great female sculpt I'd probably not put her on the dino, well probably the head on a guard torso, to keep it
in theme she a bit too cowboy and not enough anzac basically.

great model though.

I'm personally surprised your not going for a dark green. ddly enough I think Rugby colours would make a good fit for Marines. You know I'd be tempted to go for both having one as Urban camo and the other as Desert. I've always liked the idea of pragmatic marines who fight in Camo. You can justify mixed units in various camo due to the emergency situation which led to them attacking before their armour could be repainted.

Green marines always feel too salamander or dark angel for me don't know why. From reading the Tyrant army fluff Huron secreted Marines from the astral claws into various units of the Imperial
guard, in an attempt to hide his chapters true numbers the colouring could simply match some other unit in use on the table similar to what you mentioned with the camo.

I was also thinking about painting them in scifi Camo (geometric shapes) that way it would simply be the camo they were using before all hell broke lose.

It all comes down to how I will use them either as centurians (the hidden marines) or as retaliators a group of marines not offically on the Astral Claws books.

Makes sense but given how unique the Astral Claws fluff is I'd avoid following it too closely modelling wise unless you're going for a traitor army. I'd definitely go for the camo though!

Added a weird urban camo to the charcole marine, not sur ehow I feel about it I'm thinking as easy as the charcole is to paint I'm probably going to go with the desert scheme or perhaps mix up
a pindan red and go with that (the orangy sand on the base is called pindan, it's a unique clay sand found in the north or Oz, commonely in the north west Pilbara and Kimberley region.

anyway here's the marine.

These are coming along really well Santobell. Makes me want to finish up my current projects quickly so I can dig into my own TS kits. Love the Huron build by-the-way!

Just a suggestion here, you could paint a marine red desert camo, and make the legs look like a scrub bush.

do em all different colours mate. i love the idea of a small team of marines from an aussie inspired chapter with different colouring to reflect the different regions they were fighting in before they were reassigned to your army. lol

In other news Huron now is in Terminator armor and has a bigger flamer arm.

He's big,nice and imposing.

See big thats a TS marine which is a bit over a head taller than a normal marine.

and yeah I need to clean him up. (new light box too)

I ended up with white for two reasons mostly;
I have never painted a white army of any kind before and I wanted them to stand out from the guardsmen, to boldly stand out.

The fluff I have settled on put this region under warp storm lockdown for a long time so to the people of the region the Space Marines
are as close to the emperor and his devine wonderfulness they may have ever been.
(as long as you only have 2 eyes 2 arms 1 heart etc.) so Beacon hence white.

White and stars also go well together.

Update - Huron no in technicolour.

Shh it's not a Mantis Warrior Landspeeder on his base.... honest...

Great version of Huron in the White armor with just a little blue. Any plans to use any of the new FW transfer sheets or shoulder pads?

By the way, the white looks smooth and crisp, I think mainly due to how well you "blacklined" each section. Great work.

Love the white marine, brilliant!

Hmmm No offence but Huron's hips are so narrow they are vaguely comical... Sorry.

I had the same problem with the FW maximus armour but it was correctable with some pouches/wargear. For your terminator however i cant proffer a decent solution.. I suppose if you are happy with it.

Possibly, I do like them, only having 6 marines in the army allows me to be a bit more "time intensive" creative than on a normal marine army so I may do all the decals by hand
but I do need to pick up a new felt tip paint pen for outlining.

medabee wrote:"I is taller than you little marines" lolz i like the corsair, hmm there is a fire, we need to put more fire on it to burn the fire.

Then some more fire just in case that first fire wasn't fire enough!

Yep tiny hips, he works out.... I think I'm going to add armor plates to his hips to mimic the extra armor on the normal Terminator suits and perhaps some grenades etc, just to fill him out.

BLACKHAND wrote:Nice work bud, I like your white its a b*&ch to paint in my experience especially over the darker colours you had previously painted the marine

Go to your nearest hardware store and by a pack of airbrush tips for areosole cans and replace the GW tip with the fine mist one, it's not as good as having an air gun but it lets you do many coats without loasing detail, I also started with black as a base in both cases and moved to white so that the areas under his arms etc would stay darker by a few shades which helped me target areas to paint in shadow effects with washes after.

and after all thats done and before you add detail use an waterbased matt sealer for water colour art (the hang on your wall kind) it's about 12 bucks from craft shops in a spray can.
This helps set the white and blend the layers together into on very white base, these guys practically glow in the dark (you'd see that if it wasn't for my crappy camera work). Yet they
are not so one colour as to look un painted or under detailed.

............ What colour should I do his power fist fingers?

............ Should I add battle damage or leave them all mostly shiny and new?

............ Should I give him a banner pole or make a npc colours sgt out of a guardsman holding his personal heraldry? (be nothing in game just a bit of fluff)

More Lugft huron is great but more cowbell would be awesome!

Great job on the white. I love the way you've chosen to shade it.

To your middle question, I have to say I always prefer the shiny new look over battle damage.

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.

Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.

I think because of how I'm shading it I will keep them mostly clean and shiny new.

Bigger better hips, and a little more paint detail added to his face and armor.

To be honest it was a total gamble to make this guy in Terminator armor and I'm really happy he turned out the way he did, this army is really going to look unique and
fantastic on the table and shelf so keep that CnC coming, it's through your awesome comments that I learn and adapted what I'm doing.

@Asylum_Inmate - Yeah it fit really nicely which was weird considering the size of the fingers.

The new hip armor is made from two halves of the Rino/Landraider Radar dish. The little rectangular one
with the three ridges along it's back.

The helmet yelled out stormtrooper, so I hacked it out of a AOBR marine reshaped it and there you go, "These are not the droids yuour looking for...move along".

Depends whether the bits are plastic or metal. If its plastic I cut a think goove into the back of each finger and insert some plasticard blades (more claw liek that way). if they are metal thats not so easy, I would mount them on the fist part if that's the case and go for a mopre standard lightning claw arrangement.

I doubt I am telling you anything you havent already figured out for yourself though, you are a much better modeller/converter than I am lol

Good suggestion, I'm really at odds with how to tackle it really, itlooks great now I don't want to mess it up haha.
