Skalk - Cheers bud! I quite like them, especially considering that they're from a board game, could have done with a bit more gore, but that does leave me something to do I suppose

vik - Thanks. More importantly, it's quick

Gits - Thank you sir!

So, considering all these CDs I've been utilising for bases, Figured I should really do something with the CD spindle too

And so I decided that more landing pads were in order.

There needs to be a ladder and chains on that vertical piece, possibly some more details on the main structure, and a hose attached to the refueling pump. Maybe a few tools lying around, some support for the fuel pipes and a spot of debris.

and yes it is quick^^

and ...that fuel pump atop of that landing spindle... what are those round half spheres?

looking good as usual by the way...an intersting take at the somewhat otherwise overdone spindle usage for terrain^^ tat two storey version out of one spindle is something i haven´t yet seen

GG - Thank you, and see above

Neil - Thanks man. Yeah, guess you've been going through a bit of plastic recently

vik - or pen inners, insulated wire, straws, sprue etc

ldd - Yeah, I'm thinking fuel hose, spanner/wrench possibly a tool kit, I'll probably wait till the main part's done before deciding what exactly.

As always, Monkey, your terrain is utterly amazing. I'd love to play on your table some time! That walkway support from the last page is perhaps my favourite bit of terrain from you so far - all the graffiti is so beautifully believable, and the weathering is top notch. I might borrow the hanging barricade idea too, if you don't mind

Your zombicide turned up a full week or two before mine, and I'm really glad for you that you didn't get stung on the customs - it took £20 to get mine out of the customs office, including £8 for the privilege of having them hold onto it for me! It's a fantastic game though, tells a story every time you play. Have you had a chance for a game with anyone yet?

Really like your paint job on the first few zombies - the wash painting is working out really well for you! I'm using gryphonne sepia over white for my zombie skin, but I don't have the patience or brush control to use it for all their clothes - I tend to try painting new layers too early and end up with a murky mess

I can't remember ever seeing any of your terrain I didn't like. You are 100% every time. Really like the gubbins on your most recent work. The little details really sell the idea. What did you do to weather the top? I can see things I recognize, but a small explanation would be great.

Gits - Thanks a lot bud, who knows, someday I may even get back to the boyz

ldd - I was planning on just a console and maybe some assorted debris. Squig juice vending machine is just asking for a conversion from one of Dave's vendors though

vik - Thanks vik, but don't worry too much, that's far from finished, that was just a base coat and some heavy washes - it's already further along, but it won't be as good as usual I'll admit. I'm just trying variations on stuff as I go along, don't want everything worn in the same manner.

Careful with that site though, even if it's a horrible task to add items to your basket, you'll find it gets pricy rather quickly, too many important bits available

Scarp - Cheers buddy! What table Those supports are actually for the larger landing pad, need to get on the details for the pad itself now I guess. Loot away my friend, loot away

Yeah, I seem to have been among the first in the UK to get it, and I was shocked when I found everyone else was getting shafted by Customs
Not had a chance to play yet, to be honest I wasn't sure if I'd be playing or just grabbing the minis when I pledged, but It looks fun enough to play. I just know that it'll be a while till I get a chance, certainly not before November, maybe not until that celebration thing we do near the end of the year I'll surely try a solo game or two beforehand.

Yeah washes work well for these guys, nice and fast and simple. Washes dry pretty quickly so just do a kind of semi-batch job on a few and you should be ok, it's when I start adding inks it can get messy

ldd - Yeah, I'm fairly sure I'll get stung there, possibly even three times

Arakasi - Long time no see, hope everything's good with you. How long till your modelling stuff gets to you? Da Dark Angelz are sorely missed around these parts.
Finished wise, there's Da Red Kount and Bionikopta, but neither of those works well on the pad due to their bases. Rare to see lamp-posts and ruins atop landing pads There is however the looted landspeeder, or potentially a unit of grot-koptas. The larger pad will take a valk (for future reference ) or the cylon-based Fighta.
And as they're the same height as the other terrain they can be used as plaza's or some such in the walkway mave, or parking places for the hover-buggy and looted wagon.

But yes, as the landing pads progress more 'koptas or other flyers may appear. Awaiting a couple of Doom Scythes and a Storm Talon for various shennanigans

Skalk - You flatter me sir Keep it coming
I think I'd argue with 100% of the time, but thank you, I appreciate it.
Yep, always the details

Ok, so let me see, I've been messing around a bit recently without taking any notes, so hopefully nothing utterly stunning comes of it as I won't be able to replicate, but I beleive it was something like this:
Base spray of ogre flesh, over-spray of humbrol sand. Sponge/smearing with dark flesh, light sponge with black. light wash with sepia. Touch up some of the raised tread with silver. sepia wash, with random light touches of thraka and flesh. Devlan around the rim and in splotches across the pad. Vallejo light grey wash in selected areas, touch of badab around the rim. Some random patterns using a large lat brush tapped vertcally to create lines, of sepia, devlan and yellow ink. (The yellow ink is quite low-key in rl, but highly obvious in the pics - probably won't use that in this manner again).
I'll probably do another sepia wash with touches of others and a grey (I love that grey wash, excellent on bare metal) before a light bit of rust powder. After sealing there'll be some oil spills added and maybe a touch more rust.

Something like that anyway I know I meant to use Dakka as a notepad for my various colour combos, but I seem to actually do that so little - possibly because there's these huge gaps of decent modelling time in between thos eisolated incidents of colouring in

So, what have I got for you lovely, lovely people today?

A little progress on the landing pad.

Quite pleased with how the pump is coming along. Experimented a bit with some Distress crackle paint. Mixed a bit with some crackle medium, some deep green pigment and water, roughly covered a dark flesh undercoat, then added some lighter crackle paint and drybrushed, then again with a bit more of the lighter colour. Because it was watered down and then drybrushed it didn't actually crack, but has produced a nice blistered type effect. Which if I can replicate should look interesting on something like a plague marine, no?
You'll be seeing some more experiments with crackle paints, the main thing i'm trying at the moment is getting coats thock enough to crack, but thin enough to not cover detail. There's some on a few pieces at the moment, in varying states, none of the others have worked as well as I wanted yet though

Finished off the pump room/filtration unit/multi-purpose terrain thingummy bit

May give the roof another dry-brush & wash to blend those panels a bit better, although once again, they're not as hideously visible as that in RL. Once sealed it may get another touch-up of rust - depends on how it looks .

More shambling hordes. You've all seen the movies. Once an outbreak starts, they'll keep spawning....

GS'd some sleeves on one and gave the other a serious chinese burn. Also left a mould line on completely purposefully purley for gaks and giggles.

Couple of runners, proving that zombie co-ordination is crap for hi-fives. Hair on one, sweatbands on the other, both have had arm transplants.

Prison fatty and his doxie. He's looking for an anadin.

Bonus blurry shot.

And a concept for a three-wheeler for a little diorama type thingy I'm contemplating.

Think the rear wheels need to be slimmer, even with mud-guards in place. Maybe grab another FW biker wheel, they're about right I think. Or maybe something completely different, not sure now, but I do want the tricycle arrangement.

And I suspect this next maybe a bit unexpected:

Spoiler:

As mentioned above, I thought that effect with the crackle paint would look good on a CSM, so quickly shoved one toghether and hey presto. Was messing with the paints and although I didn't get the effect I was after, I messed about a bit and think I've got a good idea on how to progress with the next attempt. Few more details and then I'll base this one, maybe on a non-standard base as a stand-alone guy.

And a little bonus going out to Arakasi

Seems to have lost his dakka, gunner and console in the long aeons since he was last touched

Cheers y'all.

Unlikely

I just felt that the scheme would work well and needed to try it out. I'll possibly do a few more till I can replicate the look of that pump easily. It's kind of a variation on a very rusty theme I have in mind for spiky 'rheens, it's just that I can't recall the method I had previously Worked realy well on bases then I forgot the method when I went to do a marine

Did almost pick up the new rule book yesterday, but got distracted by comics and paints

hmmm... i still have an untouched can of crackle medium in my paint box... good to see some interesting uses shown by you...

and indeed the look suits a nurgle marine to the T...

the first z´s look as if they are about to boogie^^...the rest looks like you´ve found your new niché to paint in... zombies seem to grow on you quite good

and the lil threelegged truck^^ good looking concept...tho slimmer wheels on the rear will make it look perfect... will this be for your orks? will you then add some plating as well?

and yes... visiting artshops always comes with a heavy loss of money... regardless if online or RL^^

vik - I'll try and do some tests using just the medium, or the medium mixed with paint/pigment. The main isue is that the paint needs to be a certain thickness to actually crack - although as can be seen on the pump some interesting efects can occur when not quite at that level.

I managed to catch them auditioning for a Thriller video re-make (note to self, red leather and single glove for one zed )

The trike-truck is indeed heading back into orky territory, although I'm thinking it'll be one of a set of little diorama/display things I have in mind. The back will be getting covered over, and there will be more plates.

ldd - see audition comment above As said, I beleive I can switch some radioactive cola for some squig-juice

No, that's a Daihitsu Midget, released by Arii - they have a couple of other three-wheelers in their catalogue which I may need to look up too. Although as their are rules for police-cars and pimp-mobiles in Zombiecide my thoughts have strayed in that direction, believe me When I was first looking through the box I started to envisage building a town set to play in and everything

bigfish - Cheers fella, I started off trying to build a proper load-out, then thought 'feth it, this is a test-piece, build what you want - just don't make it an awesome detailed conversion in case it all goes tits-up.'

Nothing to report on at the moment, had to go in for stock-taking today, so had to skip the local IPMS show (International Plastic Model Society), which means I missed out on some inspiration and a chance to put a whole bunch of bits on my credit card

Did find this on my desk today though, it had come in yesterday I believe.

Orx trike from Mantic, I think I can use those bits. In fact, those wheels look just about right for the earlier three-wheeler - bonus!

Lois and Clark, still waiting on pretty much everything. He bent his arm, lost his tie and grew some hair. That last isn't usual behaviour for zombies is it? She's shoved some badly mauled pillows up her shirt and nicked some-one else's head and arm. Rude bitch!
