Oh yea, I've learned my lesson chopping up/working with resin minis... Head and arm are pinned and glued nicely- I'd be surprised if it broke apart.

In addition, +1 for your name... Awesome!

LOL... why don't you tell me how you really feel?

Yea... would it make you feel better if I told you I originally considered keeping him helmeted and just modding it with one of my plasticard helmet ornaments to make him fit in? I did keep it, btw. I'll be using it for another project, or possibly hooking it on his waist... or perhaps in his free hand...

Either way, you'll see it again.

Now that I think about it, I might GS some fire coming off of his offhand fist... like the start to a Shoryuken Dragon Uppercut...

We'll see- my group project entry model has my full attention tonight.

I have been away from Dakka for awhile and I return to find this beauty!! It's looking good, and it's stirring my inner Wolf!! I am going to be hard at work on my Space Wolves and I will be keeping one eye (no pun intended) on this. Keep it up. If you would like to check in on your mortal enemy I am posting most of my progress at http://phantomminis.blogspot.com

Hey man! Welcome back!! It's one of those things I've wanted for a long time, the Eldar and random projects are on hold while I make some of these into a somewhat playable posse. (yea, not army... not yet, anyway). And that's awesome that you've got wolves! I just took a look at your site- the powerclaw cables look great! I like the look of your Exodite army... are you using the same style? Either way, if you use Exodite or your =I= crew style, it's going to be good. I've got a feeling!

I'll keep up on your blog, as a fan of your work (and a sworn, mortal enemy to those who have no idea what true power is) !

-Remi

-EDIT-

Nevermind! I just saw the test mini. As always, extremely impressive, BT_Mask. For those of you who don't know, check his link and his pics- one sickass Exodite army done in a chalky, blended style. (for lack of a better description, and that was terrible at summing it up)- One of the most unique painting styles I've ever had the pleasure of seeing.

Wah, wah, wah.. whaaaaaaaah...

Stay tuned on Baiyuan and PDH's Pimp My Wizard Group Project, that's where I'll be devoting my time, when I have it... up until I finish my work and can turn my attentions back to my Sons again!

I guess I am going to actually have to do some work on my own blog, and keep an eye on the pimp my wizard blog until the contemptor comes out of his box to play. Thankfully its almost payday so I will be able to go shopping for paints at last.

Totally agree . It's one of mine as well, on par with the newest Eldar Ranger sculpts. I remember I had the original Emp-Champion too (sword in a two-handed grip right in front) from back in the day. VAST improvement.

Hey GiraffeX, sorry for the late reply! I've been busy with work, the PMW entry, and school.

Unfortunately, I was an idiot and didn't know the arm could be used for both sides... I picked up the twin-las arm and a powerfist arm. However, I'm undaunted. I've already started prepping the model for work. I've got an idea for him, to be more dynamic, like his brothers, and the pose won't be focusing on/aiming with the lascannon. But aside from that...? Can't tell you much more.

As I'm getting a bit burned out and need some recharge for innovation for my Pimp-my-Wizard entry, I'm going to be working at this blog during my sparetime this weekend (more like juggle both projects at once). More painting, and modelling, coming soon!

Looking forward to your Khorne-contemptor! The model is already naturally menacing, so I'm sure your results will be ace!

Hi all,

Can't wait to see that dreadnought btw.

I've started planning my own thousand sons now. I may do mine pre-heresy, not sure yet. However, the twist on mine is I'm using khorne berzerkers and plague marines. How, you ask...

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/386380.page

I play:
Imperial Fists - 9000 pts
Tyranids - 1500 pts

GENERATION 9: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Contemptor Assembly

Welcome back, and sorry for the long wait... I've been around, just not at my own blog. Today, I'd like to present the first part, around 60% completion of my new FW contemptor pattern dread assembly, waiting for some GS to cure on my other work for the Pimp My Wizard group project. First of all, I gotta say- this kit kicks ass. Period. It's very well made, and despite my all-consuming fear of resin/FW products... I pinned the out of him, and he hasn't given me much trouble at all during construction. SO! Onward with the pics!

Here he is, all laid out. I picked mine up with a lascannon and powerfist combination. Powerfists come with integral bolter/flamer plus bolter/flamer "bitz", and lascannon is gun/shoulder/and pivot-mount. For some odd reason, my kit came with an extra shoulder pad...?

Shaving off the aquila, as much as it pained me... the symbol was very well done, complete with slight scratches and damage. I'll just have to put on a suitable symbol (beetle?) in its place.

Body all set up. I didn't take a picture during the process, but that's three separate pieces- the body (plus head), the waist component, and hip swivel component. To make it a bit more sturdy, I set up a pin in the hip component, drilled through the waist, and into the body, giving the model a brass-wire "spine".

Arm all set up- as he's one of the more venerable Thousand Sons, I thought he'd want something more aether-like, and decided he'd be focusing on his open hand, rather than his lascannon set. FLAME ON!!

Burn... heretic scum.

Lascannons attached and a loose and ready position.

And finally a close-up from the lascannon side of his body.

Great kit, and I'm looking forward to finishing it/painting it. I'm trying to decide whether or not I should make my own base for the model, or pick up a large-size Egyptian Ruins type base for him too... Either way, thanks for stopping by and stay tuned!

Thanks- my guys are supposed to be at the height of Prospero's prosperity though, so no war yet, unfortunately. (and no battle damage)

I just placed an order for a 60mm base by Scibor in the same style as my other guys. Might as well make them uniform!

Thanks for stopping by everyone! Comments/critiques are always welcome!

LOL... I don't know. We're not on a first-name basis or anything. I ordered it as soon as I posted it to my blog here. It came about a week ago.

You're gonna love the kit though. It's wicked.

Thank ye kindly! I'm hoping the sentiment remains once I model him into a true Thousand Son.

Stay tuned! This week promises to be dead, but this weekend... either work on this guy, or my wizard for the group project Pimp My Wizard by members Baiyuan/PDH. We're going crazy over there, so to help tide you guys/gals over, check out our work and leave us critiques! WE LOVE CRITIQUES!

Lol... If you make one for your Raven Guard... Raven Guard Contemptor = Batman's guardian robots when he's too old to do it by himself = equals epic awesome = +100 points to oldskool charm, style, and class.

If anything, it makes a fantastic showcase model. Hell, it was the BA paintjob on FW.com that sold me, to be honest. That, and it's Pre-Heresy styling.

My friends are trying to get me into FFG's Deathwatch game... if I don't get to make a batman-style space marine for this one, I'm definitely making him into my next =I=nq warband leader.

Very cool pose (I may have to "borrow" it!). What alternate bits does the kit come with? Do you get both the storm bolter for the close combat arm as well as the heavy flamer? Any others like multiple heads? I've seen some different heads on the Games Day pics but wasn't sure if they come with the standard kit since the FW GD stuff is supposed to be just alternate weapons on a standard body.

Dude, if you get that neon-green right, you're pure-win all the way. (that is them, right? White helms and green body armor?) A dread like that is going to look good. Any formula you're going with? (Grey_Death's wonderful SoMedusa army comes to mind...)

And yes, Kingdom Come is one of my favorite books, Ross being one of my favorite artists, and it is my dream to collect several of his works before I pass from this world. I saw a Batman-choking-Joker-surrounded-by-the-rogues'-gallery for $4500 USD... I almost bought it.
