I dont think emporers pride would fit the chapter. Seeing as he's the head of the imperium, would he really be 'proud' of a group of debased marines with a corrupted gene sede?

Huntmasters doesnt seem to work either....not sure why exactly, but it doesnt have a nice ring to it.

Nomads whilst fits the theme isn't suitably heroic enough for speace marines IMO

Sabre legion and emporers fangs seems pretty good.

Ok, I'm just throwing out an idea here. But they're obviously a space wolfs secondary correct? Why not run through some heresy fluff find a heresy era wolf who's name sounded really saber tooth like and name them the sons of him? I only say this cause i feel that there's a better name out there for these baddies then the ones listed. Not to offend.

In marvel comix the name of sabertooth is Victor Creed,

i suggest that in tribute to both the emperor and sabertooth the chapter could be named emperors creed or likewise creed of the emperor...

I may be wrong but I think by Emperor's Pride he meant like a group of large cats type of pride, not a "hey good job son" type of pride.

Sons of Smilodon?

Warband of the Sabre Teeth?

Eh... don't really like either of those but I'm looking for something that has both Native American and smilodon influences.

LOL, how quickly a thread can degenerate

Keep it up guys, I can't wait to see a whole weeks worth of "discussion"!

I'm suprised no one has mentioned "braves" as a naming idea ( FYI Rama a "brave" was an american indian warrior )

though with how this discussion is going I would end up with a chapter nemaed "Sons of the Brave" which kinda sounds like a soap opera :C

Ive have a native american dictionary. Had a look through it there but it could take a long time to find something about lions or wolves! I shall continue scanning however and let you know if something comes up.

If on the other hand anyone wants a translation of a native american term im right here! haha

Coming from a Native American....please keep away from stereotypical names. Being called a brave, redskin and such is really like being called a savage. I assure you I am fully civilized. Something with Sabre in it would be cool. Just not something derogatory to Native Americans.

No worries Templarboy, I will stay clear of "braves" I was pretty sure it was a term coined by europeans hence not putting it in my list of chapter names

While I am taking inspiration from native americans I am trying not to make them look like stereotypes (no feather headdress'!) and would be very interested if you have any suggestions for acoutrements that would add flavour......

I like the idea of [something] Pride; the imagery of the pack of big cats hunting together works really well. And then you get the wonderful dual meaning.

I also like the old horror Wolfman pose you've got going in your wulfan model.

I don't think you'll find any term for lion.... not being native to North America 'n' all

There were definitely cougars and mountain lions in native american territory.

Is it wolves or lions your going for? and why then native american? Im not a fan of the auld comics to be honest, I just like the sabre themed marines!

I have utmost respect, historically, for native Americans, based on the spiritual teachings and connections with nature anyhow. Of course today we are rarely similar to our ancestors as the cultures of the world have much combined, otherwise half of me would be painted in sprials dancing a pagan ritual and the other would be bare chested and fat, eating boars and tending to vinyards!

I shall therefore take note of what you said templarboy. I never intend to offend!

On a more related note however I like the word sabre, so Sabre Legion sounds pretty class!

My marines are half Howling Griffons and half Crimson Fists so I just called them 'Griffon Fistage'! haha

how about the Sabre Wolves? kind of has a nice ring to it and as you are basing them of the space wolf codex it also fits. Though barring that how about Sabre Warriors?

Slightly of topic but an idea for names used for the squads, use "prides" if the space wolves go around in packs then shouldnt this lot with a more lionesque background go with prides as thats how they are organised in reality

@morgrim - Thanks man, I wanted the wulfen model to look like he was roaring a challenge but he looks like he's ready to break out a howl, ah well thems the breaks.

@newt of death - Yeah its lions I am going for with the naming as it will help reinforce the sabretoothed lion theme, the reason I went with Native American imagery is that I am running them as space wolves but didn't want them to be vikings but some other tribal culture. I did briefly think of doing an eagle-aztec theme or a shark-maori theme but I went with sabretooth-Native American becuase it allowed me to do Marvel Marines

@tony_nids - I know cougars are geogrphically correct but I don't want my marines to sound like a horde of 40-something women looking for younger men!

@young logan - I like the idea of prides being the name of the squads, If I don't use it in the chapter name I will definitely use it that way.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys keep em coming!

Haha! Now i would pay to see an SM army modelled like that!

Latest model looks awesome. Something with pride in sounds like a winner to me. How about Pride of the Fang? (thats pretty bad, but something like that )
