So my wife had a half day at work today so I decided to drive her to work and then pop down the local Games Workshop to do a bit of painting before picking her up again to go see the new Sherlock Holmes film. Here's what I managed to do in the couple of hours the store was open;

Firstly I toned down the scroll work on the Sternguard with a thin wash of Chaos black rather than Badab black wash.



I did some more work on the Apothecary, highlighted his yellow on his shoulder pads and worked on the eye lenses though I didn't have my Tamiya Clear Green on me as GW frown on that sort of thing in their store!





I did the same with the banner bearer;



Much the same for the Assault Serg plus a few washes of chaos black on his grey bits!



For the Assault Cannon Terminator I blacked in the appropriate areas ready for painting over, brought his chapter symbol up a shade of grey, did the lenses too;









Well not bad for under two hours!

Not bad at all... that Apoth is lookin' pretty swish!

That sternguard is such a great model! And your realy doing it justice. His chest eagle looks stunning, Well done!

Thanks Gits, I'm really not happy with the chest eagle and the white isn't quite right still but he is getting there!

Well a quick update today, I've put some codex grey on to the models I'm currently working on and also I have painted the parchment on the purity seals. Here are the pics;

















Well I'm not finished painting yet so there might be some more to update later!

Did a little more yesterday, painted one of my comms towers as an objective. Also did a bit more work on the Assault Cannon Terminator.









It needs a bit more work to get the lights and screens painted but certainly good enough for the gaming table!

Oh and I almost forgot! Happy New Year! Was going for a curry at a restaurant near my sisters and unfortunately broke down when the alternator belt let go on her MX5 but we were only waiting about an hour on the M3 for the RAC to rescue us and they replaced the part today to get us back home, outstanding service! i wish everyone a prosperous new year filled with many hours of happy modelling!!

A bit more update today! I have based some of the models I've been working on recently and started a new one too!

So here are the photos so you can see what I've been up to! C&C welcome, they are all still wip but starting to come together!

Did the base while I was at it with the others and just base coated his armour in Regal Blue. He is fine cast and needed a little more liquid green stuff than I first thought he might.

Well I'll try and get a bit more done tonight but unfortunately it's back to work tomorrow!

This first one without Flash the second with which do you guys prefer for the quality of the picture?

I might redo his name on the shoulder, the micron pen wouldn't do it so free handed it but it still looks messy.

I think flash is better, the name looks amazing, I see no reason to re do it!

2nd is far better. I've also found that if you zoom onto the modle from far away when you come to cropping and stuff the detail is far better!

Ok well flash it is from now on!

So another update, worked on the Apothecary, was all like yep that's him done! Then I looked at the photos and thought nope I need to touch up a few bits here and there! You guys give me some C&C and we'll see if I'm being overly picky!









I also worked a bit more on the Assault cannon Termie;









I'm thinking that he needs some more work, maybe some free hand. Possibly on the shield or on his power fist or left leg. He just isn't feeling special enough at the moment!

Lastly I took a pic of my painting table as one of the guys at my local GW thought his was messy, I rekon that this is prob quite normal! Feel free to upload some pics of your tables!

Oh yeah I was pleased with the blood bottle on the Apothecary's narthecium.

I think that the AC termie needs to have more detail, maybe his eyes?

How would you increase the detail on his eyes? Tattoo like Tyson?

Nice stuff, i like the contrast between the red and white.

The term does look a little plain, it needs another colour in there to break up all the red. I'd maybe think about try a white helmet for him,or some weathering/battle damage.

How about some of the yellow on the shield? I was also thinking of a free hand symbol on the powerfist too.

Just been looking through Insignium Astartes for ideas and found out that the chapter I based this army on might be called the Emperor's Hawks chapter!

Maybe, just needs a colour other than red to break it up a bit- maybe even just picking out some of the details on his mask? Like the vents or rebreather.

You might be right, I will work on him tonight. just as a point of reference I'll add a picture of the first squad of Terminators with their shields painted so you can see what another unit looks like;

Yea they look alot better(not that they ever looked bad) with their shields painted.

Time for C&C! Time for Whalemusic360 to come on and tell me it's all been meh since the skulls and this is now something cool again!

Looking at the photos I think he just looks a bit flat still but it is much better in real life. Might free hand something on the leg. What do you guys think?
