To Kroot Hawk: How does everyone know the release for October? Even if they were to announce the new mid October, they could have them out by Halloween. Dread Fleet was announced Almost 2 weeks ago, and we are now one day away from its launch... it is not outside the realm of GW's capacity.
Because the October WD is out and if they were an October release they would be in the October WD.......
I think your seriously overestimating the benefits of a halloween tie in (or more to the point that such a tie in would somehow require or massively benefit from an actual halloween day release) I mean based on scuttlebutt they are slotted for Nov that would mean Nov WD released 2 days before halloween and the initial model/codex release 5 days later its all still halloween week without messing with the standard way they do releases.
My problem with this statement is that they dont announce everything to be released or hinted in the month of October... Im concerned that if one of the writers responsible for the codex is trying to be cheesetastic and sent an email to the marketing department stating "Hey since they just randomly showed up with no warning on several of their campaigns, why dont we follow the fluff and just magically they appear on the site the day they release". Wouldnt that be a pip?
Aside from that, I would accept a halloween "reveal of sorts" or even a halloween "teaser" like someone quoted earlier about odd angled shoulder and feet shots... (thinks back to those shmucks who made random guess' at the pictures of the talos, groutesques, and wracks... ITS A DARK ELDAR HOT AIR BALLOON!!!! give me a break)

Is this the next level of your trolling attempts on Dakka or are you really thinking that GW is trying to hide and deny its major Codex release of this month?
Maybe you should readjust your tin foil hat.

I guess the GW shysters are at work again... must be grots in the system... I mean really? necrons getting put into WD... you my friend would need a silver dollar for that one cause that would just plain start a war... Not only are necrons a ten times better army than SOB (sisters of battle for those guys who are stalker editing my posts), but their back story is far richer and deserves a thicker codex than SM's do... thats just my opinion... speaking of which, has anyone noticed anymore missing stuff from the Cron's army stuff on GW's site? imma check now.

What sort of benefit do they gain by making EVERYTHING super secret about releases. Hype and anticipation sells better than 'WOW WTF when did this come out?!?!' I personally would love to know 3-6 months before something is out so I can afford to buy it hahaha.
Look at the gaming industry, 3 years before a game is out they release a teaser and every 6 months a new full trailer. Builds hype and sells better than a random no info anything.
But this is just me and my opinion/observations and partially minor venting/frustration for our own little hobby group here at THQ Montreal. :(

announcing a new line of models and codex way before release will drop the sales on the older models and codex they are still trying to sell. So i would guess its why they don't announce their products too early

Holy Hell someone who understands me... even with the latest comment, if they were trying to sell more, by the marketing model, and basic marketing structure, logic dictates the biggest baddest new thing sells... even if you were to announce necrons a year out, people would still be buying stuff up because kids are impatient... and impatient kids equals sales... everyone knows that this is a game for adults... if this had an ESRB rating... it would be a Friggin big fat M!!!!

You keep trying to use dreadfleet as some kind of prescedent. Dreadfleet was teased in the WD the month before it was released via the flyer, due to it being a "new" product they were able to tease it without giving the game away in a way they really couldn't with new Necrons. Dreadfleet was still featured in the WD of its month of release, a WD that was pushed back 1 week so that Dreadfleet could be revealed at UK GD which made perfect sense. But pushing back a WD 1 week so they could do a big UK GD reveal of their new stand alone limited game that had no existing market is an entirely different animal than the sort of thing your implying. Dreadfleet (and the pushed back WD) still released on GWs standard 1st Sat of the month.
So it might be possible that they will push back the release of the Nov WD to the 5th of Nov (much like was done with this months) so that they can reveal the Necrons via the website on the 31st of Oct but I'm just not convinced that tying in their reveal or more so their release with a seasonal holiday even comes close to doing such for their big annual con. If the Necrons are coming this year it will be Nov which will in all likelyhood see a standard reveal/Nov WD release/pre-orders go up on the 29th of Oct and Nov 5 model/codex release with maybe some of the stuff held back till Nov19th it's still all near enoughs good enough as far as a halloween tie in is concerned without the logistical issues of further messing with an already in flux WD release schedule due to subscribers not getting it early anymore or messing with their standard release pattern.
Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of many of GWs choices of late but your taking it a bit far.

Games Day UK was a huge disappointment. I put all my eggs into the "They'll be announced then" basket, assuming GW actually had a good marketing strategy. But, no, I was sorely mistaken.

The trading card game Magic: the Gathering traditionally keeps the majority of its releases secret until 3 weeks before launch, when sites slowly begin filtering in previews; before then, we usually just get a tagline, a picture, and maybe a single, very early preview card. However, that business strategy actually works for Wizards, since the cards have the rules on them and slowly revealing the cards builds up "hype" for the competitive community to preorder boxes in the few weeks before release. When a Magic set's information is shown early (See: New Phyrexia), sales can go down because the initial excitement deflates.
However, the situation for Magic isn't very comparable to the one for Warhammer, since at least we get confirmation on what they've built several months beforehand. Warhammer releases are even more quiet, and those are just model pictures, not the rules for the new codex.

But the competitive community is VASTLY different compared to Warhammer, for other reasons: Mainly that Wizards phases cards and sets out when they release a new set (and bring older ones into the fold). I would put money on the competitive community buying and pre-ordering those boxes either way... mainly cause they have no choice as long as they want to keep that competitive edge... and remain playing in general.

If Games Workshop made M: TG, then 3 weeks before a major release they'd be denying rumors they make a collectible trading card game.
