For Adepticon? Minimal... seismic hammer & chain fist + the melta. I'll build him so he can be upgraded with the rockets and all but I didn't have the points for that this go-round.

LOL! Well, I'll have one more picture of the chapter master when I'm sure he's done (and I won't ask for C&C... he'll be "done" at that point). Then I'll throw myself into the Iron Clad and Yggsdrasil's trade marine. I'll work on NOT answering every post... that should slow it down quite a bit.

That Inq Squad looks awesome all together... as does the rest of the Mantis army! I'm hoping I can get some results like yours from my airbrush when I get it in March... the zenithal lighting on the razorbacks a few pages back were pretty sweet!

I have a nice, new Forge World Mk IV Iron Clad. I also have a normal Iron Clad but the FW is the one for this project. At least it's easy to put together.

Gits, remember when I said my next purchase was going to be the aegis defense line and a dred? Well, that dream hasn't died, just been put off
I will make one eventually, and with the help of the Ravenwing upgrade sprue (I got it as a freeby when I bought my massive SW force in bulk) it will look sick.

I think it's the best option for the Rifleman variant. Just be careful fitting the arms or you end up with a real challenge getting them to align right like I did. Don't be in a hurry, take your time with your build and make sure you've got a very sound approach before you start cutting and drilling.

I think my lazy will overpower my joy of cutting for a rifleman, and I'll get the FW ones. I anticipate that when DA get a new book (which wont be for awhile Im sure), they will get a mortis dread with Autocannon double options.

Guys, I recently bought 19 tac marines for 20 bucks. They are below tabletop standard ( well, my standard anyway)
So I ask, with all the Badab war craze, should I paint them as a chapter from the infamous war, or just paint all the metal bits and have more ( useless, as many say) BA tacticals?

So Gits, your last pic of your army together was 45 pages ago. Do you think we could get a new one? =-)

@Heff: I don't think it's changed much since then. Seriously, I've traded half of the infantry I've made and the only other addition are the two razorbacks. Let me get some more of the army done, then I'll take a pic.

O.K. Here is the *finished* chapter master. Hope he suits. I'm going to swap his original backpack with graven for a different one I plan on using on my MoTF conversion. Lots of tweaking aside from the obvious. worked on getting the definition in the laurel wreathes, skulls, etc. Removed some little casting flaws & generally cleaned it up. Highlighted the face area... etc.

The story of Phillipi Tarse, Chapter Master of the Mantis Warriors, Defender of Tranquility and Founder of the Snipers of Tranquility:

Phlilipi Tarse, Chapter Master of the Mantis Warriors. Tarse was legendary in the Mantis Warriors long before assuming Mastership over the chapter. For centuries Tarse was responsible for the defense of the home world which, due to it's location near the Maelstrom and the many enemies the chapter had made nearby, was under heavy assault each time the chapter mobilized in any significant fashion. His hand picked, elite defense force were masters of defensive action... and while they used the full range of combat tactics they became known as the "Snipers of Tranquility" as their strikes against would-be attackers would have all the surprise and finality of a snipers bullet. All members of the Tranquility Snipers color their equipment in a unique pattern that is respected throughout the Imperium and feared by it's enemies.

Due to his unique responsibilities, Tarse was the only highly placed Mantis Warrior commander to not take part in any aggressive actions against another chapters during the Badab Rebellion (though he did defend Tranquility with unmatched tenacity, ferocity and guile). As such... he was the natural choice to lead his chapter through the darkness of the crusade in the hopes of eventually regaining it's status as a respected member of the Adeptus Astartes. He is also the only high-ranking Mantis Warrior commander who is fully trusted by the Inquisition or other Space Marine Masters.
