If I counted it all, I'd break down and cry. So I don't bother. I buy what I need or would like to have and just go with the flow.

My garage kit spenditure is probably just as great.

Since I play on Vassel and got all my codexes for free, I haven't payed a cent. Which is kinda sad, because I really want to try my hand at conversions and painting.

Want to help support my plastic addiction? I sell stories about humans fighting to survive in a space age frontier.

My brothers kick me down stuff from time to time which accounts for most of my models and painting stuff. Occasionally I picked up a squad or a blister or an extra pot of black paint but the last time was about a year ago.

I know its heretical but I have all the codex I am interested in either photocopied or downloaded, and have 3 paper rhinos and all my terrain is homemade. well I do spend money on the plastic straws, beer cans, popsickle sticks, cigarette boxes, cardboard cereal boxes, and spraypaint that I also use for artwork in other hobbies... So it's like multitask spending (eat the cereal, enjoy the popsicles, drink the beer, etc... then play arts and crafts)

So yeah... um almost nothing.

Long long ago I amassed a mountain of marines that probably cost a thousand bucks or so but those were my school days before the realities of life set in. They were all given away long ago, and since then my brothers get me warhammer stuff for christmas presents.

Nowadays though, any spare fun money is usually taken up by guitar strings. My army is big enough and all painted anyways.

Retroactively applied infallability is its own reward. I wish I knew this years ago.

It's hard to say, really. I can't exactly calculate the results as prices have risen so much, and I've sold off a good portion (at least half of my Sisters miniatures at one point, and I repainted the other half with my second color scheme so I don't remember exactly what was in it...) of my miniatures to help pay for classes and books.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I'm not sure as for me, somewhere in the neighborhood of ten to fifteen grand, but much like HBMC its over the last 20 years.

I have spent about a two thousand dollars in the last year or so on various stuff for sure though, but my expendable income has increased as I've gotten older and more employable.

A few bits here and there (£60 order twice a month or so)

I've spent about... I dunno... $1000-1500, over the course of what's coming up to two years in November.

But now I've begun a project that will see me spending upwards of $20 per man (I figure that, if I'm going to keep going despite GW's rediculous pricing, I might as well go all out on every single model)... it's about to get a hell of a lot more expensive.

1,500 points of Black Templars (separate to Marines).
The Equivalent of about 8-10 Imperial Sectors worth of CoD terrain.
20-ish Bations for Planetstrike.

Then there's all the Necromunda stuff, every edition of Space Hulk, Warhammer Quest and all it's expansions, etc. etc. etc.

So, yeah, a lot.

Collectively me and my 3 closest friends, who play 40K, own every army except Dark Eldar and even we couldn't muster up a force that size! Just out of curiosity, where do you even keep that amount of models? I can't imagine anything other than a whole room dedicated to huge battalions of plastic and metal soldiers and beasts.

As for myself, I probably own about £1,500+ of Daemons, Chaos Marines and Tyranids. the overall cost of the models my group owns for 40K is probably closer to £12,000.

That's before you even start to consider all the glue, clippers, paint, etc that we've used to build them too.

If brute force isn't the answer, it's only because you aren't using enough of it.

I have a room. In that room there is a big closet with a sliding door. I put shelves inside this closet. Everything fits. Well.. everything that's built fits. Got another 6 Basions, 2 Imperial Sectors, 2 Monoliths and 6 Valkyries to build. No idea where they're going to go.

My assorted 200-ish BattleTech 'Mechs, 100 BattleTech Vehicles and 100 stands of BattleTech Battle Armour are also in there, but luckily they fit into two of the big Sabol cases.

Unknown.

let me see, there's:

4,000 points of Guard. (mostly old version figures - so not really that much. I haven't bought a single 10 man unit box ever).
3500pts of Daemonhunters (when the army was 'new' - so about 1/2 to 2/3 of current prices)
12,000 points of Eldar
12,000 points of Marines.

I did at one stage have 4,000pts of Wood Elves, which were ALL metal (all the time ) and stolen back in 1993 for fantasy.

Spacehulk (original set of SH, Deathwing and Genestealer) x2

Also over the space of around 22 years.

I tend not to buy terrain, but make it, so cost savings from that go into mandollies.
(several friends make SFX miniature terrain and model railway stuff. I learned from the best).

Somewhere.

I buy almost all my stuff second hand, so...not as bad as it could have been. But I have 7 40k Armies...

I reckon £1500 over the last four or five years, so not too bad. Plus another £200 or so on Fantasy. And all the Dark Heresy books...

Probably $1500 or so over 15 years. I bought most of my stuff second-hand or when it was a lot cheaper to buy new.

That doesn't really bother me much. Back when I was able to go target shooting regularly, I would spend that much in the course of six months.

I will admit to some disbelief about the 10k+ armies being bandied about here. Ten thousand points is equivalent to about 333 generously outfitted CSMs or Rhinos, or 40 Land Raiders. I would love to see the listing of models that goes along with those numbers...

Hm.

Over the course of the last six months, I'd say probably $1000 on Space Marines, $300 on Tau, and $300 on Orks, and now about $250 on Daemons.

Estimated of course.

So around $1850 total.

Yeah I buy more models new than I really should.

Spent- I have no idea. I started playing back in 2001.

Worth - i just had to inventory everything for insurance. If I had to replace everything at full retail. $5000, just for the plastic. This does not commpensate me for labor and paint cost.

The reason I have no idea how much I spent is because I have done a lot of trading, and buying of armies on the cheap. Plus the price of a model 10 years ago has gone up (thanks GW)

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

My 1 year mark is starting to creep up. 95% of my purchases were used/second hand. Sooo...adding things up...

CSM: $190, plus about another $150 of stuff I traded for.
IG: $80
Demons: $40 (A lot of CSM stuff ports over)
Books: $70

That's probably a bit on the low side, but it's close. I try to pay about $1 a model but pay the price in trying to fix the vast majority of everything to make it look good again. Bigger stuff like Princes and Vehicles probably pay about $20 a pop for.

The boards/terrain is kind of what adds up. First board I built was about $80, 2nd board was $40 or so (had stuff laying around). Then lots of little $10 purchases for one thing or another.

Soooo...probably a bit north of $600 over a year. Hmm...then again, I suppose I better figure in paint/brushes/flock...

Maybe I don't wanna know.

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

Me and my wife started in june 2009 and I guessed we'd spent about €2000. But then I totalled our online orders at GW and those were over €2000 already. Without the two times we spent €500 in a shop. And without the FW orders. And wihtout all the other times we just got some boxes and/or paint. So I guess we spent about €5000 on it this past year....

In our 40k room...there is easily 10-15 thousand USD if all purchased from GW. It's a bit slowed. Plus before long I'll be working on another army...
