my fav are the the old 40k imperial army (not called guard back then) BEASTMEN. yup, you heard it right, they had beastmen.

It's because we old grognards started our armies with the old stuff, and need more old stuff so it all matches.

Egg-walkers!!!

yup... i had a guard army i used to call the conglomerated regiment. i picked up so many different units from different sources back in early third edition my "theme" became that i had one of every type of guardsmen ever produced, with mordians/praetorrians leading the lot. now i've just got the regular cadians since i sold off my first IG army a while back. i had two chicken walkers (lol, that's what we called them... what came first?) as my RT addition to the theme.

i've still got my half 2nd edition/half early 3rd edition blood angels army and know what you mean. i finally got my hands on an old RT land raider and am in the process of turning it into a crusader to match the rest of my army of OOP models. i have a "new" style one (but the early 3rd edition metal bits variant crusader) that i've been using for 10 years that i now have to figure out what i'm doing with... i'm guessing it'll be put to good use with my spulk termies.

Hmmm.... I have hunted down and scored almost all of mine via Ebay. Love the old Chaos Champions, perhaps a few of the ones I don't have then.

PS I have had almost everything posted in this thread at one time or another... damn I'm old... lol

Would love to get a bunch of the preatorian infantry and heay weapons teams, keep the lasguns but swap the HW on the teams to keep up to date with the new stuff (of course, damaging the model as minimally as possible!)

Failing that, maybe the old 2nd ed tyranid screamer-killer, seen those going for god knows how much on ebay, and love the character of the model!

Although not all that old I'd love to have some rare Necromunda models, I saw three ripper jacks go for £28 on ebay

@Leigen_Zero
I've definitely got a screamer killer in the loft. If I remember rightly there's also some 2nd ed gargoyles, zoanthrope and lictor, I'm surprised the 'fex goes for decent money.

I'd also like more of the old IG - regret selling mine, but I've been through quite a few armies over the years

Also, I'd like a butt-load of squats, but I can't face the prices they go for on eBay now.

That's 'as new', I've seen them falling to pieces, loose from spine and half a cover (detached) going for 90-100 quid.

The second one is more expensive but I always like Slaves to Darkness more. Maybe it's because Ian Miller did a ton of art for that book and then they had Adrian Smith (who is good, his style just didn't really mesh with the who RoC books imo) do all of the stuff for LatD. Ah well.

As for my most sought after OOP model, it would be any of the old RoC Chaos Champions and Chaos Legionnaires. I already have 4 Chaos Space Marines from there and a Chaos Terminator, but to have every single one-now that would be awesome, and not to mention expensive. I got lucky when I got 4 of the RT CSM for $25, it seems like they go for about 7 or 8 USD each on eBay, and that's not even shipping.

I had mine and it went walkies after a game, something I'm furious about to this day was the gamesday marine captain in power armour with powersword and fist and storm bolter based the orginal terminator captain model early 90's. Tried looking on ebay for it and there is no chance that I am paying that amount of money for it ah well :(

Mean Green Stompa stole my answer. Damn that was a good set. 20 or more IG with heavy and special weapons for $20. And guides in WD how to turn them into snipers etc.

That's one reason I like the WGF greatcoats, I feel like they're a flexible kit I can use to make anything while the current plastic IG feel hobbled to sell metals and other kits.

I still harbor a dream though that GW will rerelease them and the beakies for 40k's 25th anniversary.

Please GW?

Well pretty much anything Epic that disappeared from Forgeworld. I recently finally fulfilled my wish of having the 3 RT era Ork books in near mint condition, I absolutely love the fluff in those!

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

I'm not planning on selling them either. I still have them because I like them, not because they're an 'investment'.

I'd be happy if they just started casting the arms again. They used to do them in metal spruesfound them when I was doing an Outrider Games Day bin dive expedition, still have the parts number written in one of the old catalogues, and I've got a bunch of armless IG that could use them. Other than that, maybe some of the old chaos heavy weapons, another IG gal with an autocannon, some more beastmen to use as penal legion (got 20+ of the old bomb collar guys already).
