I feel like Stargate is the type of universe that is suited to Emmerich's style. As long as it isn't based in modern-day time, but a near or distant-future, it could be pretty awesome.

Now that's my favorite show of all time. They. Better. Get. It. Right.

And I wasn't a fan of the comic, at least the one graphic novel thingy that I read.

Hmm, I'll reserve judgement on the Farscape movie until we see some rumours on the script and who else is involved, but my inner cynic is recoiling in horror already.

Season 5 was a bit hit&miss, but so was season 4 for me, The Initiative seemed a bit bleh as villains and I spent most of the time Riley was on screen wishing I could punch him in the face. It picks up in season 6 in those episodes that don't focus on the derpy nerd trio, Willow's arc is well executed(if nothing else, watch the episodes that relate to her, and the season finale, worth it), and the Spike thing goes in an unexpected direction. Season 7's good overall, although the Scythe is daft. All in all it's worth carrying on, although you're in for a bit of a slog if you decide to keep going with the story into the Whedon-sanctioned graphic novels - they get really good about halfway through the season 9 issues and season 10 looks great so far, but the first part of 9 is so-so, and the whole season 8 arc is completely fething abysmal and so OTT it's ridiculous, which for a Buffy story is saying a lot. Unfortunately you need to read all of it to get what's going on in the more recent stuff.

I dont know if anyone knows this. but there is a star gate command at Cheyenne. It is a big metal door with a red light ontop and what looks like several locking mechanisms to bolt it shut and says "stargate command" ontop.

Same here.

I'm not really sure what they are going to try and do with a "re-imagined" Stargate... I mean, do the alien ships land in Norway, and all these "gods" look like Thor and Odin now? Do they all sport beards, throw lightning bolts about and eat pitas (greeks)

This is me as well. Enjoyed the movie and the concept but never could get into the series.

Loved Farscape though to looking forward to a movie spin-off of that.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

MacGuyver was one the best parts of SG-1. I was really worried when he was mostly sidelined out of the show, but the replacement guy from Farscape filled his shoes very nicely. Teal'c made a great straightman for him/the rest of the cast.

I do need to make a point of looking up and watching thru Farscape one of these days. I've seen parts of it but not all of it. Also need to watch the last seasons of Warehouse 13 for that matter...

SG-1 was awesome. Atlantis was good for the first couple seasons and then deteriorated into mediocrity. Never watched Universe.

Anyway, I hope its not a remake. Remakes tend to flop if the original was really good. Besides its not like there is anything wrong in the original that could be fixed by a reboot.

But a continuation of it would be cool. Maybe set a few decades later, with some of the original cast making appearances now and then.

A couple Earth colonies here and there, blend of modern and advanced technology, new enemies, etc...

RDA wasn't sidelined. He specifically asked to have his hours reduced as he wanted to spend more time with his young daughter. This is why his hours were skillfully reduced in Season 6, and then ham-fistedly reduced in Season 7, and why he was made a General in Season 8.

i was never a big fan of the show. saw a few episodes here and there, but as i'm not much of a tv watcher, i never really got into it very deeply, though i do love richard dean anderson.
but, i like kurt russell more...
and i'm not opposed to remakes, but i do get tired of them happening so quickly, and they're often very hit-or-miss, and lack some of the best aspects of the originals.
i am a big fan of farscape. alongside babylon 5, i'd classify it as one of the best sci-fi shows ever.

Star Trek was virtually dead after the last few films - Nemesis was very bad. I thought the new films were great - fun, clever, action packed and very like the original show in style /theme.

Universe was a very weird "Stargate" show - the SG elements were very much tacked on to the show........

TBH I loved stargate, both films and TV, so a little apprehensive that they are going to do a star trek on it (however I thoroughly enjoyed JJ's Trek.

However Farscape news got me all kinds of excited, I came over all tingly when Claudia Black was on screen and had the teeniest man crush on Ben Browder (this of course is nothing to the man crush of Matthew Mcconaughey) Was gutted when the 'To Be Continued...' turned out to not be true :(

Bring back the lovely Claudia and the manly Ben

Movie was an absolutely excellent popcorn flick.

TV Series bored me after about three episodes.

The serieses had their moments, but I liked the movie better. Kurt Russel FTW!

I'd be interested in the new movie(s) too. I kinda felt like the series just ran too long.. I kinda liked where SGU was going though, I liked that it generally had more of a darker tone.. a shame the doctor is stuck playing rumplestilskin now, even though he's prolly getting paid twice as much...

Sorry, can't let that stand; the new Trek films are fun enough popcorn flicks, but they are by no stretch of the imagination "clever", and even TOS with its Western In Spaaaaaaace! dressing had some interesting sci-fi themes and, for its day, some fairly challenging if sometimes superficial social commentaries. Even the TOS movies, which were even lighter and fluffier in tone than the series after The Motion Picture, had some meaty and thoughtful bits there for those paying attention. Even if they're passable summer action flicks, the new Trek films aren't really Trek IMO - they rehash the interesting aspects with twists for their own sake, just so they can claim to be different even while shamelessly plundering the source material for the ideas they cannot generate themselves, and huge gaping plotholes and gaps in character behaviour, personality, and logic are just left there with no attempt to mitigate or explain. The only vague attempt at commentary they try to make, with the second film, had already been done and done much better in both TNG and DS9.

Trek needed a break and some fresh writing and producing talent to come on board to develop a new crew and a new mission, not a reboot with a hack director crudely rearranging and duct-taping together characters and plot elements from TOS without any understanding of or respect for the source material then hiding the gaping chasm-like gaps in his creation with eyesight-ending lensflare effects.

Star Wars died with The PHantom Menace, Trek died with Into Darkness, Stargate is the natural next on the chopping block, an ill open indeed.

Seriously, though, with Wars, Trek, Gate, Farscape and Blake's 7 all in the process of getting unnecessary remakes/reboots, I think Bablyon 5 is the only 'classic sci-fi' left untouched (for now). Truly it seems the Original Idea is a dead and dying concept.

You like what you like - and vice versa

I think they are clever you don'tt its all good.

but imo The earlier Trek films had little no social commentary or anything similar - Nemisis and the one before were just terrible - Insureection perhaps the worst in the whole series - a long and boring Next Gen episode with cod logic and morals - still the Trek films could have bene worse Nolan could have been involved....................

My secret fortress at the base of the volcano!

I loved the Stargate film. It was fun. It wasn't Shakespeare or anything, but it had more brains than any Transformers movie and a better idea of what it wanted to be than the Robocop remake. SG-1 was a decent enough show, but I didn't like it as much as some people did. I never got into Atlantis or Universe. A remake/reboot by the same people who made the original film could be good, or (given the track record of the people involved) it could be a train wreck. I'm actually hopeful at this point, though.

As far as I know, every time I hear about a Blakes 7 remake/reboot/continuation, the story inevitably turns out to be false. I had most recently heard something about Microsoft doing a reboot that would be available exclusively to X-Box Live, but that is crazy like some kind of crazy thing that is all crazy. What rumors have you heard? Because I'm genuinely interested in any and all Blakes 7 news. You know... on the off chance that an actual reboot/continuation *is* in the works.
