-paint an extra 1000 pts of marines
- paint 2000 pts of bretonnians

Well I didn't manage to achieve all my goals for this year so they will carry over to next year.

1, Do more gaming.
2, Not start a new 40k army.
3, Start a historical miniature game.
4, Not buy in to games that I know my club friends wont start playing with me.
5, Paint the piles of miniatures I have around the apartment.

1. Play more games in general, this year was pretty poor overall, although that had a lot to do with Aurelia losing interest in her Tyranids after the new Codex came out. With her new Dark Eldar army taking shape I see good things ahead in 2011.

2. Paint my Skaven army I have (plus a HPA and Ikit) by the end of the year, about 200 models.

3. Get my Battlewagon, Ghaz, Nobs conversions done in time for the 40K doubles in feb.

4. Paint my new Eldar army.

5. Paint some Druchii, even though they are on hold atm while I wait (hopefully) for Plastic Dark Riders.

6. Finish my Mordheim terrain, and hopefully get several battles done this year.

7. Get a proper 6x4 table sorted, the two temp boards are starting to look knackered.

Finish painting what I've got. Simple as that. Not sure if it's what I have as of now, or what I have when I have it, we'll see how the former goes first I think.

I've got quite a few.

40k:
Paint 2000pts of Black Templars (currently at 1250)
Finish painting my Thousand Son CSM army and expand if possible
Finish my 1000pt IG army (need more Tallarns!!!!)

Fantasy:
Get my Dark Elves up to 3000pts
Start an all Slaanesh Daemon army and convert a DP to lead it (may only get the DP done but I hope it'll be a special model)
Build and paint a 1000pt Brettonian army (may do that with my Christmas money)

LOTR/WOTR:
Build a pure Easterling army complete with ringwraith on fellbeast converted to look to Khamul.

Hmm I think I'll need a lottery win or two to get that lot done.

I want to stop starting new forces when the previous one is barely painted... it does my head in having so many black miniatures on my shelf!

Hopefully GW won't release a new Dark Angel Codex or any other codex that I'd be up for or else the cycle will just start again... damn my butteflly mind!

This will be a chaotic year for me, scrounging up work to pay the rent for the next 6 months, then finding a new place and starting from scratch this summer, once we find out where we'll be moving (gf is looking at grad programs all over the northeast and around the Great Lakes).

My goal for the next 6 months, at least, since I'll be replacing the scattered college schedule with a more stable work schedule, is to paint more consistently. I haven't bought a new model in ages (even have a handful of boys still on the sprue), but the rate at which I cover up the gray plastic that fills my shelves is downright shameful. If the new rate averages out to 1 model/week, it will be an improvement.

Beyond those 6 months, it won't be a New Year's resolution, it will be a "completely different life" resolution. Whatever happens, my little plastic men are coming with me, so here's hoping for that magic job that pays well and gives me plenty of hobby time. Those exist, right? RIGHT???

The Dreadnote wrote:But the Emperor already has a shrine, in the form of your local Games Workshop. You honour him by sacrificing your money to the plastic effigies of his warriors. In time, your devotion will be rewarded with the gift of having even more effigies to worship.

You can edit your user profiles, too. I'll come back when I've figured out
my resolutions for 2011.

A review of 2010

1. Keep up the pace with Warmachine and Hordes- I'm making fine progress on my various armies by sticking to a formula: Character, Warjack/Warbeast, Unit, Solo. Though the formula varies somewhat, I've been able to build up my collections such that I have models that I really enjoy the background and rules for.

Success!

2. Events! I'm a Press Ganger so I have to run events. Events can be leagues, tournaments, demos, and whatever else.

Success!

3. Slow down the GW. Nothing personal, GW, but as much as I'd like three Mumaks, I think I'm going to try a lot of non-GW in 2010. Besides, it's not like I don't have unpainted GW stuff anyway. So no new GW models in 2010.

Moderate Success! I think I did pick up some Lord of the Rings stuff in October.

4. Space Ships! Talked to my FLGS Wednesday Night. I should know by next week if they can put the order in for Firestorm Armada ships. *pewpewpewpew*

Lame success. I only managed to finish painting two of the models.

5. Anima Tactics: The minis are just too pretty. If I buy two or three at a time, there's no question I'll be able to finish them.
Lame success. Only painted four or five models this year.

6. Learn Greenstuff. There are things I want to do that require more than just slapping on the paint haphazardly. Hopefully Aaron and I will have time for some tutorials.

Utter failure. Timing has been bad all around.

7. SOVIETS: I only have tanks and artillery to go before my regular stuff is done. I'll have to look into expanding the infantry and tank side in 2010.

Success! Painted, but still unplayed.

8. Play Field of Glory, Flames of War, Firestorm Armada: These are the new games I've set my sights on for learning how to play in 2010.

Utter failure! I haven't learned a durn new thing!

9. Reaper Minis. If I paint 3-4 Reaper Minis a month I should have 30-40 Dungeon delvers by the end of the year.

Moderate Success. (Maybe I shouldn't use exclamation points for those). I have maybe 10 or so done up this year.

10. Infinity Miniatures: Haqqislam, Yu-Jing, Ariadna, PanO! It's all good.
Abysmal failure! Got nuttin done on these.

11. More terrain, perhaps: Need to paint some of the generic buildings I made and maybe make more hill/forest templates. I have no budget to make store terrain, so I'm going to make a transport option for these. Maybe a box only for forests, a box only for hills, and a box only for linear obstacles. If I have those things, I'll be able to run whatever terrain I want.

Moderate success. Still haven't completed any water terrain projects or buildings.

12. Continue blogging. I have more words than pictures, but that doesn't mean that I'm all talk. Blogging has kept my hobby side sane.

Moderate success. When I'm hot, I'm hot. These past few weeks. Not.

13. Lucky 13 says: Slow down the painting. According to flickr, the first model I finished in 2009 was model #880. The last one was #1611. 731 completed miniatures, base stands, and terrain pieces all told. I have nothing to prove.

Success! Fewer minis painted in 2010! I think! Something like 300 or so projects completed all told.

14. Learn to take better pictures.

Hahaha, failure?

15. At least 1 or 2 terrain centerpieces.

Failure
16. mORE aRTICLES

Haha, failure

Phew.

I suspect I'm going to fail at least one of my resolutions, I'm already having second thoughts about building that small Brettonian army, I guess I'll have to change that one to build and paint a 1000pt army that isn't Dark Elves or Daemons.

Now which army should it be......

Finish the riders for my Eldar Jetbikes

Get rid of my Space Wolves stuff (bought a lot while I was deployed, but came home and discovered SW were really popular)

Play more games at the house. It's just getting more and more difficult these days to go out for gaming.

Play more varied games. Locally, 2000 points has been the standard since at least 2003. I'm really tired of this points level and it's been refreshing to play different sized games.

Build more terrain.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

1: Get more commission work. Advertise myself.
2: Finish repainting that huge unit of 50 orc boyz...Could be difficult if I get my hands on some new commission work (that's the worst bit about commission work, you never have time for your own models!).
3: Using money from commission work, either build up my Tau army, or start WM/Hordes.
4: Finish my Tau army!
5: Get more stuff for my orcs, especially if the new army book is stellar.
6: Remember that Confucius Gamer say "Resolutions are good for the soul, not the wallet"
7: Build more Urban terrain/finish my and my cousins Trench board/make some more hills and forests for Warhammer Fantasy.
8: Don't kick myself to hard if I fail every single of the above resolutions.
