We have all won games. We have all lost them.And we have all faced that bad winner or sore loser( Depending on the person, I can be a very bad winner.)

Really? WTF? You set up your own forces, you rolled your own dice, and you made your own mistakes. A good General takes advantage of every possible situation.

The one I use alot is "Damn Chaos Daemons and their Eternal Warrior, Fearless and Inv. saves!"

Best I've heard was "If I had put my warboss with them instead of them, didnt move that unit there, didn't let you assault me here, didn't *continue to list almost everything they did all game* then I think things would have ended very differently!"

The harshest I've ever overheard was "If you were actually fun to play against I would have tried harder"

The habitual "Necrons suck" was the funniest I have heard in a while. A friend who plays Necrons had just lost to. . .me playing his own Necron army while he was using my Tyranids.

After my opponent had called 4 times begging me to come over and get a game in...."I wasn't really in the mood to play today"

Well I understand laws of averages, but I also played a game yesterday and after a seemingly ridiculous run of rolling 4 and under, I began to count...and rolled 46 MORE dice rolls without rolling a single 5 or 6. I wish I had counted from the beginning, because it would have been around 80-90.

I did still manage to win though.

And the rules are written poorly, Melchior...I've had TO's make rulings one way (against me) and then in the next tournie a TO rule the opposite way (against me)...lol can't win under either rule interpretation!

The only thing close to a game of 40k I played was with a friend years ago. It was like, a hq and a troop choice.

I was using Tau, and he was using Eldar.

He only won because of mindwar. That is the most OP bullcrap in the entire game. (I think we played it wrong, because it was destroying all my stuff)

I only lost because my entire army (DoA plasma spam) rolled a 1 for every single shot of thiers, failed every single armour save, and failed every single FnP.

True story. Fried my own army in one turn.

I still love plasma though, even if it hates me back.

Oh and "You only won because I shot myself!" While technically true (he shot his own immortals with the Particle whip, killing them and causing his Necrons to dip below the Phase out limit) it's still goddamn hilarious.

To be fair, it's entirely possible to win/lose games because the dice are either with you or against you. If you field an army of nothing but 10pt, 2+inv save models that always ignore enemy saves and hit/wound on a 2+, it's still possible to lose because you rolled nothing but 1's. mathematically improbable, but possible. I've lost games and won games because the dice were either rolling well below or well above average. I remember one almost two years ago where I just could not roll anything above a 2 for almost any roll. Needed 3" to get into assault on 3 or 4 turns, rolled snake eyes or 2's every time. With my powerfists and meltaguns I hit twice out of twenty some-odd melta/pfist attacks that game and rolled a 1 to wound on one of them. Poor rolling happens and can putz the best general in the world no matter how good they are, or elevate the worst player to spectacular victory.

The key is in knowing how to minimize the chances that poor dice rolling with have an adverse effect and knowing how to maximize the chances of success. But sometimes it just doesn't matter.

I played in a small Tourney in 4th ed. with a 2 monolith all warrior necron list. As soon as I stepped up to the table the guy I was playing against was whining about how cheesy the list was. He wouldn't stop. Every turn it was "well since you're playing such a cheesy list"

He was basically setting up an excuse to use in case he lost.

funny enough, he won cause I was relatively new to the game. He then proceeded to gloat for the rest of the tourney (I lost and drew my other 2 games so he had no reason to gloat) He also cost me the sportsmanship prize for marking me so low. The other 2 gave me top marks.

Entirely true, no matter how many CML we dropped into their razorback it wouldn't die it was finally brought down by my lootas.

Haha, yeah, we've all had those games. I remember an apoc game where, my entire IG gunline's first turn of shooting out of 8000pts of IG armor and heavy weapons did nothing more than shake or take the bolter off a couple rhino's, and the next time we played I went two turns where my Chimeras just took every meltagun, krak missile, autocannon and lascannon thrown at them like they were lasguns.

The dice can legitimately turn a game no matter how well you play.

My Dark Eldar friend, after my boyz ate him:

'If I had rolled good combat drugs, and my archon had killed Ghazgull, I would have tabled you easy!'

Unfortunatley he has never beaten me, ever. But he never seems to learn that 10 wyches just can't take out 20 boyz.

Admittedly Ghazgull had managed to down a turbo-boosting raider with his big shoota that game, so luc may have played a tiny part in my victory.
