I don't know!

Hmm.. Green, yet red is more sinister! Do muti-coulored! I'd go for red!

I think red is what I'll go with!

On another note I just reached 700 pictures I have posted in the Gallery!! Whooop!!

That's weird, the figure under my avatar reads 698 but in the gallery it's 700!?! Confusimabobbled?

Skimming accross your thread / gallery and not finding, I was wondering if you had any info on how you made your landspeeder tempest :p

Ok I recently re-photographed the Tempest after I touched up some of the painting, here is one of the better pictures so I can discuss what went into making it;

Ok so clearly you need a drop pod kit and a land speeder kit, you will also need some plasticard and the punisher cannon from Forge World. Green stuff is also required as well as the cable from a guard heavy weapon las cannon. Here is the hardest bit, I used two sections of cable from a Titan weapon from Forge World!

First build the land speeder and glue a complete Drop pod door on to the bottom of it.

Add the drop pod wings to the sides, make sure you carefully cut off the little wings first and keep them safe.

Green stuff will be required!

Then cut down the outside half of another drop pod door, you need to trim the top off and the bottom if you look closely in this picture you can see where that has been done and then green stuffed to make the front neat and the bottom attached to the roof of the land speeder. I had to cut the bar down the middle of the cabin off too.

The sides were then constructed out of plasticard and the doors made to fit the natural shape of the drop pod door indents. All view ports were just made up with plasticard. To get the rivets I used a technique from the Forge World Master Class book (best book I own), drill an indent with a pinvice and then glue a ball from a britta water filter (any brand will do, just open it up and there are loads of tiny plastic balls in with the charcoal) in to the indent.

You can see here that I have attached the cut off small wings to the edge of the drop pod fins, I scored extra groves to make it look like they had control surfaces (ailerons). I attached thrusters from the base of the drop pod to the upper and lower sides of the drop pod fins at the front as if they were vector thrusters. Next to the doors I added to spare pistons from a Warhound Titan to look like they actuated the wings some what. The cables from the guard las cannon heavy weapons teams are attached on each side from the fuselage to the wings. You can see this better in this photo;

I don't have a good picture of the underside completed but from the picture below you can see that the round hinge sections of the drop pod door look wrong so I pinned the Titan Weapon cables from them leading forward in to the fuselage, which I cleaned up with plasticard and Green Stuff. I'll try and take a good photo tomorrow and post it here.

I hope you all liked the tutorial on the tempest, never did get around to submitting it to White Dwarf!

Well since Fredy has been dominating the Gallery this month I thought I should take a leaf out of his book and look at photographing my models with a back drop....

So I printed out some cool backgrounds from the web and decided to have a go instead of the usual boring white back ground. Here are my attempts using Assault Sergeant Khan;

I had quite a bit of trouble with the lighting as the flash kept reflecting off the back ground and throwing a shadow. So I ended up with an angle poise lamp from above lighting downwards to throw the shadows out of shot and disabling the flash. This meant the camera needed a longer exposure and everything went blurry so I rested it firmly on my desk to take the shot. My conclusion is that I should buy a Tripod but that will have to be next month now. So what does everyone think? Which one is the best photo? Should I start taking photos with backgrounds from now on?

They all are pretty cool and have their respective merits. The middle background shows off the technical aspects of the figure best, but the first and last are much more dramatic.

Thanks Gits, I'm going to experiment further with some other backgrounds tomorrow.

Thanks GiraffeX I see you found the full blog for the Necrons too. I can't believe I have lost the ends to the warriors guns, the search continues in the loft tomorrow!

I think I must be boring my readers! I'm starting to think that running three treads might be a problem as updates are too few and far between, maybe better to post all of my work in the one place. What do you guys think? Also what would you like to see me work on most? Necrons, Emperor's Wings or Pre Heresy Death Guard?

Well thanks for commenting, it does help to keep us blogers motivated! I also like to hear peoples ideas and suggestions as it some times takes me in a different direction and I end up with something cooler!

Yes I think I ought to do some more Death Guard, I really love the Forge World models, it's just easier to progress the Necrons!

Right a new conundrum for the floor, I am going to a local tournament, one day event, 1500pts, three matches and the army has to be fully painted! The date is the 5th of May so any painting will have to be finished by then. What should I take? I would like to take the Emperor's Wings but I'm not sure what would be a good force to take. I do have a word bearers army painted and a mechanised Dark Angel army fully painted. If I channelled all my efforts into them I could conceivably have the Necrons done by then, what do you guys think?

Any ideas would be welcome!

Do you care about being competitive? If so, what's your best build?

So it seems the Necrons is the vote, I'll have to get on with the Necrons then. First priority will be to write a competative army list and build for that!

Gits, I'll put up a list this evening so you can have a look and everyone can offer suggestions!

Boy... the monolith / imotekh list is pretty potent. Not versatile, but potent.
