Given the fact that there is a good deal of airsofters here on Dakkadakka, and this topic nearly entirely derailed another thread, this thread will be for all talk related to airsoft.
Reviews, questions, videos, general discussion, comparisons to real firearms and whatever else anyone wants to talk about as long as it's appropriate and airsoft related.
I'll start us off with this, FYI, I'm the guy sitting at the front at 8:55 and at 12:42, with my old XM8

Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!
Those look especially nice, given a lot of similar GBB pistols cost $90-$150
Also, this was during the summer, I've since gotten thinner/slightly more muscular and grown a beard-stasche (Really, I just haven't shaved in far too long)
This gives me the urge to set up a paintball thread. Sadly the only video I have is not the greatest of quality, so I'll wait til I get something nice and proppa before setting that up.

God Marpat looks good. I really want a set, but I have a feeling I'd get (at the minimum) a hairy eyeball from my dad (who's a staff sergeant in the marine corps) for wearing them. Tiger stripes look good too. Anything but UCP is good.
Good video. I'm watching the whole thing. It's pretty long.

I personally love tiger-stripe, I'd be wearing A-TACS if it weren't twice as expensive as every other camo though. I don't want to spam videos here but there is a video on Youtube of Operation: Super Soldier, IIRC there was just over 600 people there (that's where I proved my theorem that 1/100 of every airsofter is female ...) That game was really good, probably the last good game Godfather Airsoft hosted before they started going downhill big-time. Also, I had my M60 then!

There were a lot of machine guns in that game. Seemed pretty balanced between snipers, machine gunners and AEGs, honestly.
I'm way jealous. What was your M60? An A&K? Those are the ones I see most often.
If I got one, I'd just have to go for the animal mother look. Already got a kabar and an m1 helmet, lol
Awsome thread idea. I used to be huge into Airsoft, but living in Canada is a PITA for airsofters. We can't import AS weapons unless you have a clear plastic reciver which really sucks. Our gun laws are just archaic up here.
I personally had a TM Styer Aug ( I love bullpups ) and a systema M-16 with a C-7 dimaco reciever and bushmaster front end. I loved that gun sighs I really regret letting them go. LiPo's are the bomb also, just make shure that your gun can handle the extra charge. I've seen people 'fry' their guns by using LiPo's without 'fixing the guts' of their weapons.
The one gun I always wanted was the TM non-GBB SOCOM .45 with silencer. I think that was the best hand gun personally ever made. The thing was lethal, silent and deadly. There was one guy in the club that used to 'go rambo' with it and just run around plinking people with it. I think in one game he had like 27 pistol kills. Ahh good times.
My personal Favort cammo for this area ( British Columbia Canada) was flecktarn... it just worked so well up here. CADPAT is used alot around here also but its too green for this area, and the flecktarn has brown in it which just workes so much better.
Good games to all who play, and I hope you shun people who don't 'call there hits' nothing worse then that IMHO.
I don't think Canada's as bad as a lot of Western Europe where you need to have 2/3 of the gun painted in a bright, nearly neon color or get a gun license...

You can always send a representative a letter of concern, but I'd imagine they have bigger problems, unfortunately.
They've been trying to crack down in the US too, most notably in California. A lot of urban areas around the coasts aren't as friendly towards the sport either.

I think it really depends on what they in the law about guns and what they actually inforce. In canada it was like owning a firearn, I kept the guns under lock and key in a rifle case and had the ammo stored sepertly. I guess that was more of my friends influence then any actual laws. All metal guns are illigal to import into canada, the whole reciever assemlby has to be clear plastic and they can't be over 400 FPS. If they do they become 'replica' firearms and they are treated differently. There is a clause in there about older guns that where already in country in `98 when this came into effect. They allowed older guns to be 'grandfathered' in so they could stay in the country and not be collected for distruction. Although in reality most people still have those, parts are smuggled in from the states so people can have all metal guns. If you are a importer for movies you could also import airsoft guns but you couldn't sell them. So a few companys up here did that and got slapped down hard by the 'law' up here.
Another thing the 'community' does up here is ID people, noone under 18 can play without parents concent or if under 16 being present. You had to show vaild photo ID at the game unless you where a member of the club. Its a VERY small community up here with only to big clubs OP-FOR and BCAC. If you where not age verified you could also not purchase guns from the websites in the 'buy and sell' area. This keeps out alot of the 'little punks' type of people and if you show up to a few games are you are a dick or don't follow the 'rules' you are asked not to come back. I personally liked this approach as it shows a level of commitment and responceability and it helps the community to grow.
I am shure there are worse countrys out there then canada, but that was just some of the headaches in canada we had to go through. I really enjoyed my time doing it and if I start working any time soon I might pick up a gun and get back out there and have some fun. I've always envoyed the US for there comparitvly lax approach to airsoft. A gun that would cost 100$ american would go for 800-1000$ Canadian. I've watched some youtube video's of airsoft games and it looks like you have a awsome thriving community down there. I've also read about some games where military personal fourm teams and stuff. It would be a great oppertunity to 'get slaughted' by them and learn about small unit tatics.
PS I really regret giving up the System-A, I really really enjoyed it. They make top notch Grade A weapon systems.

Yeah, I've played against a couple veterans both Marines and Army. They take the game at face value, not terribly seriously but they are still formidable. My personal team (a group of 4- at very most 10 people) are encouraged to read up on US military handbooks and such, as they are available to the public and easily accessible through the internet. Many official practices are studied and drilled during "training meetings". We have an edge tactically, and having no "formal" training allows for quick improvisation which is promoted for fire-team and squad leaders as well as fire-team Automatic Riflemen (Machine-gunners) as they are the most senior members of a unit, they are given less responsibility than leaders, however hold more personal control than standard Riflemen and Grenadiers. As far as my team is concerned, they can make themselves "exempt" from the standard chain of command in order to pursue ambush and outflanking operations.

Last time I checked it has to be sold with a clear body but then you can buy the solid body if you want. Or be like me with the guns from before the laws went stupid. Im the one with the M14, in the background is an example of the clear body.

Sounds like an awesome hobby. got me interested anyway however seems Australia's law on airsoft is just as anal if not more than Canada's. Could have employed some infantry tactics I learnt in the Army cadets.
In the UK if you're 18+ you can buy a two-tone gun that's 50%+ bright coloured/clear. If you're 18+ and have been Airsofting 3 times in not less than 2 months you can apply for UKARA which gives you, in essence, a 'licence' to buy RIF's, Real Imitation Firearms. You do this by registering at a site. Once obtained you can you don't even need the red plug like on the American ones either. Look at Action Hobbies and Land Warrior some good ranges of weaponry. It can rack up quite expensive. I've spent £40 on Combats, I spend about £35 everytime I go and decent main weapons go for about £200. I'm currently shopping for an AEG G36c, a GBB Glock 17 and a GBB MP5K
@Joey Buy a deactivated weapon, you only need to be 18+ and you can pick up a Deactivated No. 4. for about £300, make sure you get Old Spec. You won't get an Airsoft Lee Enfield. I love my dad's deac No. 4. Looks so pretty. SMLEs are cheap too. Have a look on MilWeb under Classifieds and then click on the gun. Sure you can't shoot it but its fun to play with, weirdly a live one is cheaper than a deac one, but then you need licenses...

Gah, I love airsoft. I normally play two-three times a month. I'm actually getting a G&G F2000 on Friday (thanks to all of my holiday pay ).
I currently own:
* Echo1 Vector Arms AK-74M with a tightbore and 120 spring * Custom Double Eagle UMP .45 - new hopup, barrel, spring, and internals * D-Boys AKS-74U with no work...it's actually missing a few pieces LOL * KSC USP Compact...the slide sticks, and it's not that accurate...but I love it * Hexagon Productions PPSh-41...it's the worst gun I've ever bought, and it's currently in pieces

I don't actually own too many guns myself. I have a lot of friends who simply have too many guns to use at once, so I'm fortunate enough to use some cool things every now and then.
My main gun is a G&G CM16 A2 Sportline (an m16a2), and I have a couple metal springers that I use mainly as props (a 1991a1 and a M92 berretta). My next purchase is a CA M16a1 VN, which is... 290$. Ouch. But I'm saving
I have something about only usingUSGI guns. I don't know what it is. I despise glocks, aks, sigs, and almost all european guns. Dunno why.

Frazzled wrote:Help me out. Why do you use military lookalikes?
It builds a sense of realism, helps distinguish airsofters from paintballers (who ,at least in my area, are at each others throats, mostly about this matter), it also helps that many airsoft guns are used by military groups for safe-fire training, to allow sparring between trainees.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Guess what Evike.com just released, today!
I assume more sizes and colors will be available, perhaps several styles if they sell well.
I want to get my hands on one of these eventually. (one that either looks like Griff or Caboose from RvB)
