Which implies a level of duplication. Which therefore implies that it is unlikely to be a fan effort, especially when it's combined with hitherto unseen Dark Heresy material.

Still, I can't shake that feeling. Does the Creatures Anathema have an entry on Demiurg or other diminutive creatures.

I'm looking through CA at the moment oddly enough and no, there are no Demiurg in there, or anything else of that size/shape... but the right hand large creature looks suprisingly like the artwork for the Stenchbeast of Strank on page 66

Definitely no demiurg in the Creatures Anathema, and no other vertically challenged race either.

The stats are not DH related as far as I can tell, and reference cards for weapons would seem superfluous for that system as well.

Looks like over sized components for a new boardgame, probably by FFG since they have the rights to the DH line and I’m sure that GW producing their own DH boardgame would undermine that and not be permissible under any sensible licensing agreement.

I think the mystery box will be something else and am hoping that that this is a new product from FFG ala the Chaos in the Old World game. But I know no more than anyone else?

Right, there are the Enoulians, but they're listed as being thin and wiry - not Dwarvish at all. And they apparently react violently when they see symbols of the Imperium. Don't ask me why...

There's a Frankenstein Monster, things call Hullghasts (not Hellghasts), Plague Zombies, Robot-Frankenstein Monster, evil possessed Servitors (ie. Robo Zombies), False Men, Logi Daemonis... or something, Obliviates, which look like Robo-Robots with flesh, Techno-Cultists, Tech-Witches, Vore Weapons, Ripper Whip, Phyrr Cat, Osedex (Sandworm), Ambull (awesome!), Cruorian War Beast, Fenksworld Pit Thing, Gloomhaunt (Ripperjack), Maw-Flute, Boreworm, the Skin Taker, Stenchbeast, Verminspeaker, Blood Locust... holy gak... picture for that one's frightening, the Eldar, Enoulians, Enslavers, Genestealers, Lictors, Orks, Simulacra (shapeshifters), Assessor Cultists, Astral Spectres, The Burning One, Eye of the Abyss (very Lovecraftian), Flamers, Flesh Hounds, Juggers, Lady of the Void, Nurglings, Predators of the Starry Order, The Ruination of Imperfect Beauty.

Nope. No Dwarves.

I'd agree that I don't think this is going to be the mystery box.

There are rumours of WFRP moving in a direction that uses cards and miniatures to speed up game play... maybe this is a test run to move DH in the same direction? This seems unlikely though, given that books are still being released and RT comes out very soon.

Could the box be Rogue Trader linked? Not the actual game, but something special for it?

No there's not.

meanwhile... the guardsman character sheet in that snap looks to me like the sort of thing that would be of use in a demo game at gen con type affair and the closest big troll like monster looks to me like the Fenksworld pitbeast.

Well after messing with the picture in photoshop, I would have to guess those are squats. They have facial hair and human features or at least very very human like features, and clothing reminiscent of older squat models with updates. The other aliens described as possibles are quite far removed from humanity. They just look more serious then the previous incarnations of squats. Bringing back a dead race for a cameo in a small board game / collectible figures would be something that they have never done before. Or could very well be a part of a new campaign for DH. I would say that regardless of what the box is or will be the figures in the above picture, are squats. They just fit the profile TOO well to be anything but IMHO. If not they want to bring some of their favorite imagery about them back in another form. Just my 2 cents....

With regards to that picture. The model on the far left looks like the Inquisitor Covenant model (torso, legs with long coat). I remember that model well and it just seems too similar.

Makes me think it's a fan project to make mini's for the game too.

Sha1emade, I agree. The mini's look definitely looks squat/dwarf/demiurg like now you mention it.

The single/two piece cast of the mini's shouts boardgame and the bulky (lumpiness?) of the boots/legs/torso particularly suggests it is one made by someone other than GW. Plus GW don't make 3ups (?) anymore do they?

Your reasoning on the reintroduction of a dead/discontinued race also fits well (what better villain than a race of squats out for revenge after the Imperium abandons them!). Further I don’t think that FFG could produce mini's of existing races/lines (under the terms of their licence, therefore squats and inquisitors (LHS of photo), plus others from the CA would be perfect for a FFG Boardgame.

Of course the downside of this epiphany is that FFG tend to promote their products, so a glimpse like this probably wouldn't be their style? Maybe this is part of a viral ad campaign? Very non GW either way?

So what's the deal on the availability of the box then? Will it only be available for one day, or will it be revealed and then made available through mail order or something. I don't have access to a GW store but would quite like some Squats and other beasties if that's what it turns out to be.

Those dwarf models could be from a different sci-fi miniatures company.

And yes! The first big monster is indeed a Fenksworld pitbeast!

So, if indeed we'll be seeing plastic Demiurg in the WTF Box, you can rest assured that when the Box is sold out you'll be able to stroll to your nearest GW shop and buy a box of crisp, freshly baked Demiurg there.

No plastic model will ever be a limited release.

While I would have to tend to agree with you, GW's willingness to go to China to get "things done" leaves this open to a little bit of wiggle room.

Maybe.

You watch. they'll be squats. Since GW refuses to acknowledge they ever existed, saying that its something they've never done before isn't exactly a lie to them, but at the same time, the "everything you've been told is a lie" shirts make sense to US because obviously, GW is lying. Then again, it may just be the Inquisitor tagline, so whatever.

I'll put a bold twist in there- a limited edition Space Hulk run entitled 'Squat Hulk- in space no one knows you no longer exist'. Swap the Terminator sprue for the Squat Demiurge sprue and you're set.

Demiurge aren't squats though, this is a GW fact. Furthermore, Squats never existed anyway. They have said this, Demiurge are a completely different race of vertically challenged people.

Honestly, feth the mystery box - this picture, and the Dark Heresy connections has me far more intrigued than anything I've seen recently.

But look closely.. The grey(plastic?? mabye its resin, sortof looks like FW resin) of the mini.. is not the same color as the peice of sprue.. It looks to me like someone took a peice of sprue and just lay it around the mini...
